I want this bad!!

Cant wait...

Doesn't anybody know how to convert this image file into an update.zip that we could flash via ClockWorkMod? Doesn't any dev want to be the unforgattable hero posting the first instructions for TouchWiz on our beloved Galaxy Tab 10.1?

you can restore the img file from backup/restore > advanced option of clockwork recovery! but first copy the img into clockworkmod >backup folder in sd card.

No, it says "MD5 mismatch"...

OK, had a spare I/O tab lying around that I use for development and writing apps, so thought I'd try it....This is with Odin3 v1.3...obviously I have a tab that is not full of personal stuff so I just blasted it....If you want to do it on your one and only then for Pete's sake make sure you back up all data and apps before if you feel it's neccessary
Unzipped the file from the download link.
Select the downloaded .tar in PDA in Odin, connect tab and click start...don't hold your breath, you'll probably be dead before it's finished
When the Odin upload has finished the tab boots straight into recovery mode...I had a few warnings regarding efs and sd extension etc. but as this is a wifi only tab and does not have a removable sd card think that is probably normal.
In recovery the installation program automatically formatted the cache...
As I was strting from scratch I did a factory reset just for good measure.
After many years of mac, pc, prologue and now trying app development work I am a firm believer in "If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly"....loading upgrade upon upgrade on existing systems eventualy brings said system to it's knees, so better to start afresh.
Hit reboot from recovery and the usual fresh install scenario started with the pulsating Samsung logo as the dalvik was I suppose re-written
Then went to normal initial setup screen which for some reason started in Italian - I know I eat a lot of pasta and pizza and drink chianti from time to time but that's just ridiculous!!
Initial reaction to visual interface was "Wow!" Now I am a bit of a purist and Vanilla lover but I am not blinkered (never joined any of the blind rhetoric "mac is best", "pc is best" blah blah clubs being a scientist by origin) and I have to say in my opinion the visual interface is far better than vanilla honeycomb
Will run some standard tests and put up screenshots in an hour or so...gotta eat some pasta and drink a couple of bottles of chianti first...

stinky73,
Same result on a Retail Tab 10.1 with a LOCKED bootloader, seeing that it works for me, it should be safe for everyone who wants to try without worrying about a brick.
NOTE: You have to do a factory reset, I got a bootloop but the problem was fixed by the reset

Awesome, can you try and flash the pershoot / bonsai overclock-able kernels and see if they work? Thanks for the info!

Touchwiz UX
I have an unrooted device and followed stinky73's instructions and was able to install touchwiz UX on my device

The only issue i have seen so far is that the samsung app store says it needs a sim card to be able to run.

I'm gonna try rooting it now.
Update:
Can't get into Recovery Mode

So you went straight from a stock tab, flashed this with Odin and now have tochwiz working properly?
I have a Droid Charge, so I'm familiar with Odin, but how do you enter download mode on the tab?
Thanks

Hold down power + Vol Up until you see the 2 options for 'Recover' and 'Download'.
Use 'Vol Up' to select an option
Use 'Vol Down' to enable it
This no longer is available after I flashed the Touchwiz Tar file via ODIN though so if anyone has found a button combo for recovery for it, please let me know.
Thanks.

It still works, but the problem is that you have like half a second to release the buttons before the tab reboots again. I am able to get successfully into recovery if i act quick.
In other news! The root from recovery was successful, This version is rootable by simply flashing the root zip file from the stock recovery.

I have retail version with unlocked bootloader from BB and installed customized recovery (clockworkmod) then connected to my pc with odin3 running. You have to have the custom recovery and i had it when i rooted and unrooted my device.
PS
This version is i think for the 3g model because it has extra settings that is unusable like tethering. The overall experience is very nice and has some very nice functionalities. The UI is very intuitive and has some very poweful apps preinstalled. I am looking forward to the official touchwiz ui and one of the added functionalities i love is the ablity to change the display modes or screen color calibration rendering more natural colors for my photography portfolio. The picture editor is very robust and hopefully the stylus in the works will work like the htc flyer stylus for use their own memo pad.

You just have to install the customized recovery by following the instructions of how to root the device. Just follow until you are able to install the custom recovery then use odin to get touchwiz ux

I just tried pershoots kernal, and please note that it does not work, and flashing the tool pack does not fix it. The only way i could find to fix it was to install the tar file from odin again.

ill help you, what seems to be the problem? I need what errors u are receiving and what issues your having..
Let me 1st thank you for your time & effort your willing to endure to help me get this right. I ran into this forum 2 days ago & then i see that I needed to dl clockworkmod v8 which "keep note" I'm doing all of this from my Epic 4G my laptop is not currently in my position it won't be avaiable until next week. Anyway I download the sph-D700US18 on my Epic as well. I tried to run the setup.apk & mobilea.apk & it won't install that's when I found out I needed clockworkmod so I download clockworkmod v8 & turn the phone off & press & hold the vol-, power, & camera button when the factory settings appear for reboot, update.zip etc I don't see it & of course I get a erro message frm that I'm assuming because I don't see nothing with clockworkmod after I download & extract the contents from it on my phone. All I want is just the MobileAP so I can play my ps3 online since its immun to ad hoc mode & btw my kernal version is 2.6.29

ok so a couple a questions i need answered b4 i can help you...
1. Is your phone rooted?
2.If so What current rom are your running? If not you may need to find a computer in order to root and get clockwork.. however i think z4root works from the market and you can flash clockwork with rom manager both free on the market. I havent used those methods to root, but i have used the one click root with clockwork and everything which is really easy if you have a computer and the samsung drivers.
3. If your already rooted then download rom manager and flash clockwork on your phone and it should come up to a green revovery with an android dude out of the box.
then let me know when you got all this done and ill continue to help you.
Thank I download clockwork manager from the market & my phone been rooted I believe with that one click root v2.5.5 with the 1st andriodtether that was on the market that only does ad hoc. Which is what I currently have so I don't believe I need rooting in this case. & the rom manager I installed I have click on flash clockworkmod recovery & it was successful I then cick on reboot to recovery. I have but it still fails what I get is this "FIND PACKAGE, OPN PACKAGE, VERIFYING PACKAGE, E:/ FAILED TO FIND WHOLE SIGNATURE, E:/ FAILED TO VERIFYING SIGNATURE, INSTALLATION ABORTED
Ok so try this: While the phone is off hold the power, camera.volume up and volume down and tell me if the green clockwork comes up?
Its still the samething I keep getting the samething I don't see nothing at all that's green I taken a picture of it but its blurry because the picture been taken with the Sprint/Boost Incognito. I'm looking for a image hosting site for mobile phones so I can show you it but its basically plan & its still failing not understanding why I wonder if that root is different but you said you use the one click root (which is the same route you had to use for the 1st wifi tether app which I have. Still not seeing what's wrong ugh
Also I don't know if this would help but aso it says "Andriod recovery <2e> samsung recovery update etc" for BML "the original screen of course"
Do anybody else have any suggestions on helpin me with this issue

[Q] need help with flashing
I know all the info on here is very usefull but too many people assume us noobs know all the lingo,I managed to root have s.u. and rom manager, ive flashed cwm, backed up everything 3 times with tit bu,dbox and desktop and ext hrd dve,I have cog, andromeda, perception all downloaded and put on sd card as .zip , when i choose dl rom from sd card and check the 3 pre inst options my phone then goes into the bootmode with options to (re-boot now, wipe all user data,re install packages , wipe cache. Iam scared to do the wipe system and user data but have tried the re boot now,re inst packages and wipe cache all which just re boot as though im shutting the phone off and back on again. i need to know if i have to choose the wipe system and user data and when i do what do i do from there I NEED DETAILS step by step, also i dont understand all this odin stuff
Are you able to get into CWM recovery. It's the green one. Choose install .zip from sd card. If it's blue, you're still at the Android recovery. Choose install update.zip, do it until CWM recovery green boots up. Then choose install .zip from sd card. Locate your rom on the sd card and install.

Today i managed to brick my rogers captivate i 1896 while trying to flash a kernal, when i checked the progress my phone was switching between samsung screen and suckerpunch repeatedly..now.. i downloaded odin used the vol up/down while plugging to usb got to download mode started odin it worked or so i thought now i just have a flashing att logo any takers..i dont wanna go anyfurther alone and completely screw things up
remember when i told you you should read the info in the forums?
it applies here too.
you are 'clayed' soft-brick if you will.....use ODIN to get back to stock....and stop messing with your phone until you understand wtf you are doing....
[Q] just flashed to att 2.1
I screwed up my phone and used odin to get it to master clear i was rogers 2.2 stock now my phone is att 2.1 eclair,i had all my stuff backed up with tit bu,what do i need to do now to get my phone back because right now its like a brand new att which i dont want
i know i know,im tryna learn..trial and error i guess, I got it to work by using odin but now its a 2.1 like a brand new phone how do i get all my stuff from titanium or is it easier to flash a new rom from where i am now
btw im on rogers stock 2.2
flash a 2.2 kernel with odin, that has CWM baked into it (hint, nearly all of them do) and then flash straight from CWM....

My thought would be to shuck off your mortal Froyo coils and move on to one of the great Gingerbread roms such as Continuum 5.5, GR-12, Serendipity vII, or Mosaic III (JVH is good but JVO is better).
CAREFULLY read ALL instructions!! The devs here are remarkably knowledgable but sometimes forget the word everything out fully for the noob.
ODIN flashes happen when your phone is in Download Mode (yellow triangle). CWM flashes happen in Recovery mode (must flash a file that has been transferred to the phone previously).
FROYO: Download Mode = Hold Both Volume Buttons and plug in your data cable. (Make sure ODIN is running on your computer first) - - Recovery Mode = Hold both volume buttons AND power button (wait until kernel image flashes a second time and then let go of all buttons) - - GINGERBREAD: Download Mode = Hold only BOTTOM volume button and plug in your data cable. - - Recovery Mode = Hold TOP volume button AND power button until kernel image flashes a second time and let go of all buttons.
Flash one of these packages if you are on a Rogers Captivate...

Hey man love your videos, the guy at the phone store got my phone working, but it is now a att 2.2,it doesnt have a enable non market apps option so my titanium wont restore my back up can i use this odin link to flash that stock rogers rom

【Guide】How To flash ANY Captivate ROM from Stock (including ICS)

This is a new updated guide on how-to flash roms found on XDA > Captivate > Development section from a stock phone out of box running 2.1 or 2.2 (or anything else). This method skips using the (out-dated for captivate) Rom Manager App CWM install and the 3e recovery "signature verification" crap and includes gingerbread bootloader update.
These instructions are the same for the i896 (rogers) and i897 (at&t) captivates. There is NO DIFFERENCE! ALL ROMS/KERNELS WORK ON BOTH PHONES!
ODIN METHOD (windows only)
If you have or EVER have had Gingerbread you can skip steps 4 - 6
If you have CWM already you might be able to skip 7 - 10 ( if rom wont flash you have wrong cwm type kernel (cwm2/3), and will need to do 7-10 with correct kernel type)
If skipping 4-6 AND 7-10 you can also skip 3 !!........and... 1
Take phone out of box (should be done)
Find a neat-o ROM from Captivate Development Section and get it onto your internal SD card (the one you cant remove) download using phone internet browser or download and copy to phone using PC.
Download and Run Odin Flashing Utility (not Odin one click) Odin3 v1.7.zip
Boot phone into DOWNLOAD mode (instructions below)
Click PDA button in Odin and find the .tar file --> i897 gingerbread bootloader upgrade (DO NOT USE BOOTLOADER BOX in newer odin versions!) ONLY DO THIS ONE TIME EVER! Only if phone has never had Gingerbread running on it. No need to downgrade bootloaders if going back to froyo!
Click "Start" in Odin
Reboot phone into DOWNLOAD mode (instructions below)
Click RESET button in Odin (beside START)
Click PDA button in Odin and find your kernel.tar file (speedmod kernel (this kernel isn't too important as it will be replaced by custom rom's kernel, but speedmod kernel understands both froyo (amend) scripting and gingerbread (edify) scripting so is great for this purpose to install any rom cwm zip file next.)
Click "Start" in Odin
Reboot into RECOVERY mode (instructions below) ** Use volume buttons to navigate up/dn and pwr for enter.
Select "flash zip from sd card"
Find your rom of choice on your SDcard and select Yes
WINNING! DONE YOUR FIRST FLASH!
Now you have CWM and a ROM....

follow directions (if any) given to install Heimdall drivers and dependencies (if required on your platform). On windows, the USB port your device is plugged into will now use heimdall drivers, if you have Samsung drivers installed, they will remain on all other USB ports.

Odin flashing a kernel is only needed when switching from Froyo (cwm2) to GingerBread (cwm3) or vice versa.
**If staying on "froyo" based roms (or GB based roms) to flash a new rom or .zip kernel, just boot into cwm recovery and flash! no odin needed~!
**Froyo CWM kernels/roms use CWM2 with amend scripting
**Gingerbread CWM kernel/roms use CWM 3 or newer with edify scripting
**If flashing a froyo or earlier cwm.zip rom you must have a froyo cwm2 kernel first
**If flashing a Gingerbread or later cwm.zip rom you must have cwm3 or newer kernel first
**or just use Speedmod kernel with CWM 2.5 which understands BOTH amend and edify to change rom versions.

Here's a list of things to try (many thanks AdamOutler and Pirateghost), sorted in a "where are you now" setup:
FROM A POWERED-DOWN STATE - BATTERY REMOVED
- Insert battery, then press and hold Vol+ and Vol-, then insert your USB cable.
- Press and hold Vol+/Vol-, Insert Battery, Insert USB cable
- Press and hold Vol+/Vol-, Insert USB cable, Insert Battery
- Use a 301Kohm jig between USB pins 4-5 (can be manufactured jig or homemade chain of resistors)
FROM A BATTERY CHARGING STATE
- With USB cable inserted into Android device, press and hold Vol+/Vol-, then press Power
- (Advanced Method) Use UART, and during battery charging, type "reboot download"
FROM CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY MENU
- Position the cursor (highlighted selection) on "Restart device", Plug in USB cable, press and hold Vol-, then hold Vol+, then press power
- (Where available) Use the "Reboot Download" option in the "Advanced" menu
FROM A FULLY BOOTED PHONE STATE, WITH USB DEBUGGING ENABLED
Note: you may need to have ADB installed on your computer, and/or an Android Terminal Emulator installed on your Android device.
- Connect your Android device to your computer, navigate to your ADB directory, and type "adb reboot download"
- (Where available) Use the rom's power menu option to reboot into download
- From a terminal, type "su", then "reboot download"
- Download the app "quickboot", follow the app directions to reach download mode.
ADVANCED METHODS - REQUIRE HARDWARE MODIFICATIONS OR MORE IN-DEPTH TECHNIQUES
I'm presenting these largely unedited, as I don't want to incorrectly type an important detail of something that I don't understand myself.
- Apply UnBrickable mod to your device, then remove the battery, insert the battery, and click the "Download Mode" button on the computer
- Use UART (619Kohm resistor between USB pins 4-5, D+=RX, D-=TX, 192500bps 8n1 comms), press and hold ENTER while booting, then type USB
One additional thing - your download mode screen should, normally, look like the yellow triangle with the Android guy digging. However, if a flash goes foul somehow, you may be left with the infamous "phone--/!\--PC" screen. If you see this, don't panic. Although it's not technically the download mode screen, many users (including myself) have been able to successfully flash from that screen. Give it a try.
Oh, and thanks mrhaley30705 for suggesting this thread.

Freakin awesome guide! Been confused about this lately. Now, I'm ready to flash! Thanks!
Can't wait to try this. My wife just got a captivate that replaced her HTC aria through ins. her aria was running current cm7 nighties. Can't wait do root her phone and run some custom roms and kernels on her bare stock froyo. wish me luck!
Im kind of confused on step 5. When i open up the i897 gingerbread bootloaders program and run it and click PDA where do I find the bootloader? Do I select the PDA.tar.md5 file that came with it? and if Im on Froyo and afterwards im going to flash current cm7 nightly, do i use the gingerbread kernel or the one Im CURRENTLY on? So sorry. Id greatly appreciate any assistance. my wife cant wait to have a snappy captivate.
Edit: The phone is completely 2.1 out of the box.
@ TRusselo.......
Great job !
One tip: PLEASE, PLEASE post the difference between CM7 and MIUI, and ROMs generally found here. Many first-timers don't realize that they are different beasts !
And you already have a question about CM7.......!!!!!!!
well.... I went for it and I can now have CWM 5.0.2.6 and I put the latest nightly and gapps on sd card and for some reason I cant see it on sd card anywhere? Ive done complete wipe and now ready for a rom but cant read anything on external_sd/? What do you think the problem is? PLease help....I ll hit the thanks button for like the next ten 10 days or something
I do eventually want my phone SIM un-locked, should I do that while I'm still on 2.2 or is it the same type of deal on 2.3 if I do it later?
NM, already did it.

Yeah, but you cannot just get up and flash CM7 on top of a Captivate ROM.....That's what I meant.

I dont use CM7. i dont like it. from what i just read in the instructions. it is the same. AND I QUOTE:
Harder way:
Make sure you're running a Eclair/Froyo Firmware (2.1 or 2.2) and Eclair/Froyo Bootloaders!
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)

The reply I got, quoted above, was totally uncalled for. I just see very angry responses happening way too often, even with newbies.
In my first post, I only just suggested the fact, very politely, since I believe that I must give you all the credit as the OP. But I got attitude.........maybe because you thought I was criticizing your post......which I don't see anywhere in my comments.
Anyways, peace.......!! I will delete my "hissy fit".
ANyways, coming to the point. The CM7 debate is discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130879
If you do NOT have AT&T GB bootloaders, you MUST flash them whether you want CM7 or Captivate ROMs.........this is the SAFEST for both ROM types.
Note that the repartition issue needs to be considered,in which case flashing complete stock GB WITHOUT bootloaders (once you already have ATT bootloaders) then installing Captivate ROm may be required.
Ok i read that post you mentioned and others and it does NOT matter what bootloaders you have. they both work fine.
so install instructions arent affected.
and the re-partition to come off cm7 is covered in the return to stock links
Quite frankly, while the thought of a guide is great, the bickering and arguing on all sides isn't helpful - nor does a guide to flashing belong in development, mainly due to the fact that people are going to read the guide, try to follow it, and, no matter how well written, ask questions - receiving arrogance isn't going to help them if they're in trouble. Developers don't need this guide, users do - thus moved to Captivate Q&A. Further argumentative posts will be removed andwill get the thread closed.
I hardly see how myself being ignorant to the installation of cm7 and asking someone else who knows about it, being arrogant. And asking that someone to provide the information that they say they know, "arguing from both sides".

[Q] SuperOneClick freezes while rooting

SuperOneClick 2.3.3 freezes on my computer when I try to root my phone. I ran it twice with the same result. It freezes on Step 7.
Phone:
Samsung i897 Captivate
OS: Android 2.3.5 (GINGERBREAD.UCKK4) upgraded with Kies mini from 2.2 (Froyo)
Computer:
OS: Windows 7 Pro Service Pack 1
Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone suggest another way to root my phone?
Corn Kernel version 7.0A ---- look in the Development Forum.
Flash it through Odin or Heimdall. Then reboot into the CWM Recovery. There is an option to obtain Root there.
Done.

Thanks for the info. If I follow this procedure, will all the factory installed software (Google Play, Messaging, Contacts, Music Play, Gallery, etc.) disappear?
Nope.
But once u r Rooted u can get rid of bloat that u don't want...through Titanium Backup Pro, etc.
Here is the link to the Corn Kernel thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18233847&postcount=1
Here is Odin if u need it... View attachment 1038976
Download and then open Odin, select the PDA slot, navigate to the .tar 7.0A Corn Kernel that u downloaded to ur pc and select it, connect usb end of ur cable to the pc, put ur phone in download mode, connect micro usb end to ur phone, after Odin recognizes it hit the Start.
Takes less than 10 seconds to flash the kernel.
Disconnect after the Pass, which indicates a successful flash. Remove the cable from ur phone. Reboot into the CWM Recovery. Go to "Reformatting, tweaks and more". Goto "Install Root / Extras". Then select "Install Superuser and Busybox (root)". Reboot.
Rooted and good to go.

Thanks again for the info. I finally got around to rooting my phone, and everything went perfectly. I used Corn Kernel 7.06.
There are instructions here (androidforums.com/captivate-all-things-root/493850-guide-rooting-adding-cwm-recovery-2-3-5-corn-kernel.html) which detail the same method as you recommended. They are very detailed, and include screen shots.
For future readers, you can use the utility in my signature to help you do the same thing.
thanks!
Thank you for putting this script together. I'm new to all this, and it helped me feel more confident trying this out. It all worked fine until the end, when the batch script was saying I should be selecting items from the recovery mode menu. My phone had rebooted into normal mode. I tried to run the script again, and the phone was not recognized, and then became locked into downloading mode. I though I had killed it. After trying many other things, I pushed the buttons to manually enter recovery mode and it turned off, after which I could turn the phone on again, at least. There's no superuser app, so I guess the root wasn't successful, but on startup the screen does say something about the corn kernel, so something was loaded. I'm not sure what to do at this point, except maybe just leave it alone since it seems to be working. If there's a final step that would complete the process, I'd be glad to know it.

To complete your root, go in recovery -> advance and root.
If you're uncertain if you're rooted, try to run a app like Titanium Backup, which requires root.
sort of the same problem..

I assume your priority is to get your laptop working again. If you can get it to boot at all or boot into safe mode, I would probably do a "System Restore" on it. That may sound a little scary, but I have system restored various computers quite a few times without problems. A system restore should not be done lightly, but it sounds like your laptop is kind of trashed. A system restore does not take very long, and is fairly easy:
* Close all programs
* Click Start, then Control Panel, then System (see below)
* Click "Advanced System Settings"
* Click "System Protection"
* Click "System Restore"
* You may see a "Recommended Restore". You may see a list of restore points.
* Select the most recent restore point (that should be prior to your SuperOneClick install)
* You can click "Scan for affected Programs" if you want. SuperOneClick should be among those that will be deleted
* Click "Next" to restore the computer
* If you installed any other programs after the restore point, you will have to re-install them
* Your documents and data should not be affected
After starting the system restore, you may have to wait 5 or 10 minutes. Do not shut the computer off, or do anything else on the computer. Let it run. The computer will run, and re-boot. When it re-boots, Windows should have restored it to the same condition as before it got messed up.
Depending on how your computer is set up, the System launch Icon may not be directly on your control panel display. You might have to drill down to get it.
You can set up system restore points manually, and it is a good idea to do that before you install any program that you may have any doubts about. Some programs automatically set up a system restore point when you install them, but many do not.
Good luck, and let me know how you make out.

I've tried SuperOneClick and it froze.

I don't have any idea what I'm supposed to be doing here so I guess if you want to get technical, I suppose that was the case, yes.
I searched how to root my android device and this is what I was reading all over google so I just did what it said.
Apparently that was wrong, which is why I'm here.
Care to remedy my situation? You know more than I do and I'd appreciate the help.
Don't think there is a forum for the LG Escape but a quick search turned up this...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33752762&postcount=1. It is a start for ya. Now the rest u will have to do on ur own. I suggest a lot of reading and understanding before u do stuff and possibly make ur phone into a paperweight.
There is a lot of helpful info here on xda. Just take time to read and comprehend.

[Recovery] & [Root]【T210R & T210】 TWRP 3.0.0-0 [Unofficial]

Updated to TWRP 3.0.0-0 on Feb 13, 2016.
NOTE: The MTP feature of TWRP causes issues with ADB access while in recovery. You may need to toggle "Disable MTP" a from the "mounts" menu to get ADB access.
TWRP does occasionally give a "failed to mount /system" error. If you get this error, simply reboot recovery and it should work.
Now properly supports all set_metadata functions in newer updater-scripts.
Click HERE to download the latest version.
@ketut.kumajaya has provided us with a working zImage which I combined with his previous TWRP attempts to make this recovery.
Please report any bugs here in this thread.
Please take a moment to say thanks and/or donate to @ketut.kumajaya for helping us out.
I have a T210R, so I haven't tested on a T210.
Thank you to everyone who has (and still will) help in testing!!!!
Credits go to:

@hkjr for getting ketut to help
and of course the Team Win group
@Tomsgt for the video

Watch THIS VIDEO tutorial for a step by step visual guide for performing the instructions listed below (thanks @Tomsgt for the video).
Supplied in 3 formats:
Odin flashable tar.md5 (for first time installation)
Recovery flashable zip (requires a custom recovery to currently be installed)
.img file (for those who use Flashify or other direct methods).
Instructions for ODIN: (use the one with "tar" in the name)
1. Download ODIN on your computer.
2. Power off the device.
3. Restart in "Download Mode" by holding the "HOME" button, "Volume Down" and "Power" all at the same time (for about 5 seconds).
4. Hit the "Volume Up" to enter download mode.
5. Start the ODIN exe program. Un-check Auto Reboot. See notes about ODIN below.
6. Connect the device via USB to your computer. Verify the device shows as "Added" in the Message box. If it doesn't show then you need the Samsung USB drivers (just install KIES to get them).
7. Select "PDA" then choose the recovery file you want to flash.
8. Hit "START". Wait for Odin to finish (~10-15 seconds). The message area will display "RES OK" when finished.
9. Restart directly to recovery mode before rebooting into OS.(Hold POWER, Volume UP, and the HOME button all at the same time. When you see the Samsung Logo, let go of the POWER button, but keep holding the Volume UP and HOME until you see the recovery screen).
After you get the custom recovery working, you can flash the latest SuperSu zip to get root.
Internal card gets mounted as "/data/media". You'll have to hit "up a level" on the folder list on the left to find it.
Notes about ODIN
--Make sure that "Re-Partition" is NOT checked.
--Auto Reboot can be un-checked if TWRP doesn't flash correctly on your device. Some have reported that un-checking Auto Reboot fixes this issue. If you un-check Auto Reboot, you will need to reboot the device yourself (refer back to step 10).
Instructions for recovery flashable version:
Boot into your previously installed custom recovery.
Select the Install Zip option.
Find the recovery zip.
Flash.
Reboot recovery.
Enjoy your new recovery.
Flash at own risk!!!!

By no means new to android, have a few rooted devices, know my way around ODIN, ADB etc.
I can't get TWRP flashed onto my T210R. I've followed the process, used ODIN, it seems to work, but when i boot back into recovery, it's still the stock android recovery.
Did anybody else get this working? I've tried flashing twice and both times it did the same thing.

What is your build number?
Are you rooted already?
Try flashing it in Odin with auto reboot NOT checked. Then boot straight into recovery when it is finished flashing.
Not sure if that will help or not, but I read it somewhere.

EDIT: 2.6.1.0 actually gives a lot of "E: A render request has failed" messages, but it looks like everything is still functioning.
Going to pull 2.6.1.0 attachment for now until we fix the theme.
EDIT #2: 2.6.1.0 attachment restored to OP (it was just missing a few png's).
silly quesiton, but first time flashing recovery (official rom). so after i successfully flash recovery via ODIN, it auto resets and goes back to regular android O/S. how do i go to recovery from this point?
UPDATE: i've tried holding volume buttons down + power key to try to get into recoveyr but just loads normally. seems that i cannot get this working. am i suppose to be able to do this from the official untouched rom?

Hold POWER, Volume UP, and the HOME button all at the same time. When you see the Samsung Logo, let go of the POWER button, but keep holding the Volume UP and HOME until you see the recovery screen.

thanks that worked!
@gr8nole
T210R = T210 + IR remote.
Based on kernel defconfig:
1. lt02wifi: base configuration - T210
2. lt02wifiue: wifi + IR remote - T210R, US market
3. lt02wifidtv: wifi + digital TV - T210?, South America?
4. lt02wifilgt: wifi + NFC - T210L, Korea market
5. lt023g: wifi + 3G/4G - T211/T215
6. lt023gdtv: 3G + digital TV - T211?, South America?
Thanks gr8nole and everyone else who worked on this recovery thanks for your hard work and dedication to the tab 3 community

What is your build number?
Are you rooted already?
Try flashing it in Odin with auto reboot NOT checked. Then boot straight into recovery when it is finished flashing.
Not sure if that will help or not, but I read it somewhere.

Build - JZO54K.T210RUEAMG4
Rooted - No
Tried flashing with Odin and straight into recovery -- still stock recovery. Also tried CWM, same thing. Not sure what's goin on.

Wow, was definately not using 3.07. I was using a much older version. I just re-tried with 3.07 and the same thing, still stock recovery after flash.

That's the same build I have and I've flashed back to full stock unrooted several times and haven't had any issues.
The only other suggestion I have is to flash the prerooted firmware linked in post #2 of my CWM thread and then try again. You won't lose any data.
Hi
I flashed TWRP 2.6.1.0 with odin 3.07 on my SM-T210. wokrs fine, only thing I noitced is that it is responding slow if you select something.
Further no problems.
