[ rom ] aosp - LG Optimus Black

I tried to make a AOSP rom for p970 and later mod.
Can anyone taste?

Do not flash this as it will brick your device.
Why did you even post this if it bricked yours? Erase this thread before anyone flashes it.

Is this could potentially brick someones device then I have no choice but to close for now.
If this is a problem please pm me and explain the situation.

[Q] First time to root, i'm scared =S

Hi
I have a SGS i9000 , still not rooted or flashed . I also heared that it might brick my phone, so I would like if someone gives me the best rooting tutorial which worked for him
some of my sgs infos :
frimware version : 2.3.4
Baseband ersion : I9000XXJVR
I'm sorry if this topic allready exists, but i'm so scared x)
thx for reading
first and foremost, backup all data you have on your phone.
then try to understand the consequences that may occur after you root your phone (your warrany might be voided)
watch this video to learn how to root: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55zXmrMFXkU
or learn from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739300
also if anything bad happens during rooting and your phone gets bricked. don't worry. just keep calm and come back to the thread. you can review a bricked sgs with ease.
happy rooting!
I felt the same way dude...what if i bricked my lovely new sgs?!? But one day i came to this site, see the dark knight rom and just thought fcuk it im goin for it. Rooting and flashing roms takes litterally a few minutes. As long as you follow all instructions exactly, you cant go wrong.
They put the disclaimer in the posts about possible damage but thats only so nobody can blame them. Those few sentences are enough to scare you (like it scared me) into not attempting it but i guarentee you, after your first flash that doubt is all gone and you wont be able to stop modding
I can link you to the exact post i used on my first ever flash if you want....Good luck.

hi pepol, thx for encouraging me, it worked !!!!!
I followed the flashing for dummies tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
I hope it helps pepol who were like me =)

Noob help please - danger of installing custom rom?

Hi All,
I'd like some advice please.
I recently got a Note (n7000) and i'm looking to put a custom rom on it. I have installed custom Roms before on a S2 but I have seen a couple of threads that make it sound a bit more complicated on the Note.
I'm wondering if it there is high chance of bricking my phone if did do something wrong?
I have the following version:
GT-n7000
Android 4.0.3
Baseband n7000XXLPT
Kernal XXLPY
is there anything about the above that I should be wary of?
I been looking at Paranoid Android but from I have read i think need to install a Ginger Bread Rom first? is there anything from the above that should be wary of when doing this?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Your rom must be gingerbread before installing paranoid rom or it will hardbrick your phone.
Follow the ROM instructions to the letter.

From my experience, from the days of my SGS right up till the GNote and SIII.....read and reread the instructions on flashing ROMs. Understand it fully before even trying to attempt any flashing of ROM/kernels/updates.
Hope that helps......
P.S. The learning curve can be very steep,,,,,and confusing to a newbie
---------- Post added at 09:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:38 PM ----------
And the other things.....the Galaxy phones are very hardy. Unless you really didn't follow the prescribed instructions on the specific ROMs.......normally it can be resurrected by the Odin or a Nandroid restore.

First of all, check if you have got the EMMC bug.
If you do, then, never ever (try to avoid) do Data Wipe/Factory Restore in the CWM mode.
Thanks for the replies.
I ran the brickbug app and it definitely seems I have the bug
Is it therefore recommended that I flash a "safe" rom asap?
Would it be ok to just carry on using the phone as is until Samsung release a updated rom?
Thanks

Other than GB roms, there are no safe roms.
As long as you dont do a factory reset/wipe, ICS roms are quite ok too. A factory reset/wipe on any ICS, all stock and many customs, can trigger the eMMC brick bug. There are some custom kernels that have a work around which are relatively safe. They do not claim to be 100% safe though. Read around.

However, they recently added this bug to other devices.

Question on Flashing my Galaxy Mini

im NEWBIE when it comes to flashing,
im planning to flash my phone atleast to a ICS or better rom but....
they said if you flash your galaxy phone there is a chance to brick it... is it also, ALL custom rom out in the net also here in XDA
can do this to my phone?.. how will i know if it is comes from good source?...
i have lot of question bout flashing my mini, like what is the first step i need to do, 2nd? and so on!
can i bring it back to the stock rom if the custom rom i picked have lots of bugs?
what is porting?
BTW MY PHONE IS ROOTED since last night
please enlighten me!!!
comments are much appreciated
you need a lot of reading, please read every sticky of the mini forum
you can take your phone back to stock by flashing firmware through Odin (PC software)
first you will need to be on gingerbread because every rom here is maid for gb
second read about cwm recovery, recovery is what you will need to flash custom rom
follow every procedure correctly and no brick will be in your path
i think im using gingerbread, ill provide SS..
so i need to DL ODIN in my PC(stock purposes?)
if i follow the step by step procedure 100%? no brick will happen?
is there any link for CWM RECOVERY?
google for flashing firmware to mini and you will get Odin
read about flashing cwm, now also Odin will be used and do jot use rom manager your mobile may brick
for 2-3 days do only reading then do what you want to
damn im fxckng scared to flash my phone even though i read tuts bout flashing
nothing to scare for when we are here just clarify all your doubts before doing anything

First you will have to flash CWM
Follow the steps in the link given below:
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2011/09/installing-clock-work-mod-recovery-in.html#.UDIx1KniaM9
Then you have to install a custom ROM of your choice(according to your specifications)
I suggest Andro-id 3.2
Follow the link below to flash Andro-id 3.2:

And that's it!

Before you advice something (like a full wipe on every flash), PLEASE THINK first before you ever suggesting others to fully wipe their device on every flashing of custom ROMS...

well it's not entirely incorrect.
correct me if im wrong, but the majority of custom roms out there have cap_erase removed which means people can factory reset safely.
the bricks usually occur if people wipe on a stock samsung rom, where cap_erase ISN'T removed.
so if you're on a custom rom, and you flash another custom rom, assuming both roms had cap_erase removed, it shouldn't be a problem right?

You haven't done a lot of reading have you? Look for it in the General section, especially topics for eMMC and 'Entrophy'
Wiping be it on custom or stock doesn't guarantee any safeties at all. even using CMW is a no no. If your custom rom has an infected kernel (that comes with it), fully wiping after flashing your phone ensures you a deadweight one after that.
It only takes one single full wipe to brick your phone, and it takes a load of hell to fix it.

how do you generalize your advice to all the people your giving it? do you ask for their kernel first before telling them to fully wipe their NOTE?
Your playing a russian roulette dude. People would misunderstand your advice generally. There a lot of custom ROMS out there. Most often than not, its carrying an infected kernel. People who just scans and see your advice would tantamount to follow it to a tee (w/o telling you the full details of their kernel) and WHAM!! they get their phone brick!
There are already to many people asking help here... PLEASE don't add it more with your senseless advice!

For someone who just registered this month, you surely got a lot of nerve!.
I've flash a lot of custom roms before you ever had gone here in Xda-dev dude. Don't divert me into clicking on that link.. been there done that. get it?
My advice to you is, before you try advising people for their problems. READ FIRST in all the stories and forum threads on our beloved Note. You will gain infos on what's causing it, and how to resolve and prevent it from ever happening it again.
So tip of advice, don't go all around the forum in advicing people to fully wipe their phone after flashing any roms. STOCK or CUSTOM.
Person's like you are the causes on why there are still people getting the bricks on their phone. Crappy advice and stuff!

The only thing he didn't do yet was just wipe data, and this guy here was just trying to help by reminding him, which is not wrong...

Hi Akilesh,
Yeah, no problem. Regarding your cleanote rom q, hmm that I'm not sure how long it takes to boot though. You may need to address that question my friend to the appropriate Cleanote note thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716088
I've ended my quest in flashing custom roms already... eversince this brick bug came and wreck some lives off some people.
By the way, always make sure whenever you need to wipe things, it is better you have a safe kernel installed beforehand.
Like I've said getting the Super brick bug is just like playing a russian roulette. You'll never know when and how you got the brick, so take necessary precautions on how to prevent it
.
Cheers!

Yeah he did wipe it but he was already using a safe kernel. My point is, don't just blurt out to people to wipe anythng without asking them some additional necessary infos. It is okay to wipe and I'm not against that (if your using a safe kernel already). What I am against is the wrong notion in giving advices to WIPE your phone PERIOD.. Without even clarifying other infos at hand.

I also want to flash cleanote rom and i am currently waiting on an updated version of that rom with the latest notecore kernel. I'm on stock 4.0.4 also and will use the PC Odin method to flash notecore kernel to root and then triangle away for binary reset. Then finally go with mobile Odin/PC Odin to flash the rom. After hours of reading threads, this seems to be a safest way to do it.

Please can somebody solve this bug in android one (spice variant).. When i put both my sim n boot the phone it takes around 7-8 minutes or more to bring both the sim's signals on the status bar.. I have to wait for a long time to make a call or somthing like that.. It is very annoying.. Unlike other phones (sony xperia, htc) which load their dual sim networks in less then a minute.. Android one takes a lot of time..! N when it is in dual sim mode.. It is usually more unstable.. somebody help..! Plz find a solution!
I think u should use clean master and disable apps start on boot try and post results
