If they sey end of august it means earliest in december.
And by then they might have decided to close the whole update process.
My thrust lies in the custom ROM's

I think we become early a Custom ROM with Gingerbread befor LG Update the Black to 2.3

Have you tried NOVA ROM? It's amazing how fast it is. ;-)
I have NOVA v8 and regardless some problems with 'su' and battery drain, I'm very impressed with it... therefore I have no great hurry to gingerbread.

I'm impressed of nova script. I hope knzo will allowed to tweak cm7 when the rc released.
About v8 I noticed 'su' and sluggish scrolling after stanby, also quadrant score was weird, jump from 11xx to 20xx.

Nova ROM is a modified ROM based on original V10C from LG. It is faster than stock one and also doesn't include all that unuseful stuff that stock ROMs have.
To flash a modified ROM breaks the warranty, but there are methods to flash the origin ROM and return to the begining.
In order to flash Nova ROM, you have to:
- root your phone
- install rom manager and then install ClockWorkMod Recovery.
- Download nova rom and flash it through CWM
Search how to root your specific software version and once root it's easy. RomManager can be installed from Market and once installed it downloads the last CWM for your device, installs it and let you reboot into recovery. Then, with your rom in .zip format inside your sdcard is very easy to flash it.
Search!!!

well i've heard september since june and have thought ok that means october-november but i think they'll actually get it out in september.

Italian v10d update with Baseband 0725 is coming soon.

LG Italia has confirmed that a new update Froyo v10d is coming.
The update will update the baseband to version 1035.21_20110725.
The official changelog will be released in coming days, currently LG Italia said that will improve overall stability, will fix the pinch to zoom and other bugs..
Download will be available in coming weeks
An updated kernel? Really? Having a hard time believing that. But still, nice.. Does anyone what version the v10e source builds to? Same 2.6.32?
Correct me if I'm wrong... But 2.6.35 will finally have CPU governor support.
edit: did some digging and it seems like LG Italy either has no clue, or flipped stuff around, at least according to our almighty arcee:

http://twitter.com/#!/CM_arcee/status/96945812269051904
so unless the new version goes 2.6.36.x, we're screwed.

Exactly, they wouldn't include a gingerbread kernel in a froyo release. And if they now would release a new kernel it would've been in the leaked gingerbread release Paul based his on. But the fixes and new baseband are always welcome, hopefully it'll be both good battery, signal and call quality.
Interesting ...

I flew through the thread (which you should mention in your first post as source btw) but past experiences showed that LG representatives (or their PR sections) have little to no understanding of anything beyond "2.2 is FroYo and 2.3 is Gingerbread" (one even replied that there will be no update whatsoever despite a Gingerbread build, although it should be called Gingeryo or Frobread, was already leaked)
I'd be more compelled to believe what arcee is saying, because he as a deep fundamental understanding of android and everything related to tegra.
So either the kernel version they are reporting is off, LG is doing something completely ridiculous, the italian PR section of LG is confusing the Optimus Dual for the Optimus 3D or any combination of those three.

Fantastic News! Lets hope its adds functionality!
Great news, however..I will wait for the devs to find a root method first and maybe a PB31IMG.zip file as well. I think I'd go crazy with a stock phone.
A big thanks to the devs for all their hard work and time spent. Can't wait to see the updated roms.

Haha only a matter of time
Those "I can't root now" threads are going to be a plenty, that's for sure >.>
The reason I had to say it: My gf got a HTC Desire, so I was in those forums right around when HTC put 2.3 up on their Developer site. There was at least a whole page of "I flashed 2.3 but I can't root...WTF?!" threads there. I had to laugh, as it felt like that DInc forums when that 2.2 OTA update (to 2.2.1 I think?) came out and blocked root. It was like the end of the world came.
... And the incredible has a breath of fresh air...
FTFW!
/10char
The update will remove root but you still should be able to push a custom recovery back to the phone with adb as the update shouldn't be able to re-lock the bootloader. Unrevoked 3.21 included the unrevoked forever tool. Unless there is a newer hboot version included with the update then I'm not sure what will happen.

[Q] Stock ICS from Samsung?

Hi,
As the title suggests, do we have any official word on when ICS will be released by Samsung. Earlier the announcements suggested that it should drop sometime in March, and since it's the beginning of the month I was just getting slightly (and unashamedly) excited about it.
I did try the RocketRom and to be honest it still feels like the stuff designed for early adopters with issues reported, and loads of CWM flashes. I don't really mind the TWLauncher and this is my first Android device, so I'll stick with Sammy's offerings.
P.S. I did search but couldn't find a relevant article. Please delete this question if it has already been asked. (And please point where to look)
Thanks,
T I M

We are very excited in here towards the launch, hope that you too "

Where to download Android 2.1 or a mod based on it?

On the wikipedia page of this phone it says that the original OS it came with was Android 2.1 and I'm wondering if there is any way I could download this rom (or a mod of it)? My phone sometimes lags with 2.2.
I used to have the 2.1 on my HTC Wildfire and it is more than good enough for me for what I need it to do, I wouldn't mind missing out on any of the perks brought in subsequent upgrades.
Thanks in advance.

Mmmmmmm..... seams like 2.1 is 2 years old.
No one will have it, try Gingerbread first, it works more smoother than Froyo, and even this is slow in comparison to IceCreamSandwich, which is slower than JellyBean 4.1.1

Mmmmmmm..... seams like 2.1 is 2 years old.
No one will have it, try Gingerbread first, it works more smoother than Froyo, and even this is slow in comparison to IceCreamSandwich, which is slower than JellyBean 4.1.1

Thanks for the prompt answer, but I just can't see how can they be faster than 2.2 (on the I9000 hardware) if more powerful phones are needed to run them?
Buahahahahahaha.... sorry can't troll him...hahaha @slappy now THIS(OP) is the dumbest post ever!

Hahahahaha.
Gingerbread even runs on a chinese crapphone from a food market in germany (lidl).
It runs fluent on the cheapest android device, will it run worse on you 300 euro flagship?

if you don't know gingerbread is made and optimised for i9000 and it if lagged it would be paradoxal, just because it is a improved version of froyo, and if not,we would all get froyo installed on our devices right away
try the custom jw6 roms and you'll see that you won't regret it,much smoother, more performance and a more pleasant and renovated design.or just take a look for curiosity,it's worth it

Dearly beloved trolls, let us gather together in prayer for this poor misguided soul, that he may turn his back on froyo and seek salvation in a bag of jelly beans. Amen
