[Q] interested in Scribe - Nook Color General

Anybody interested in that new stylus program that has come out on a couple of the tablets. The program was supposed to have been released for developers.

What app is that? got a link?

The only way to see it in action is if you look at a demo on one of tablets it's on.(HTC Flyer)
The only problem I see is how the pen would be on the nooks screen.

Nook Color Teardown

There's a gallery of NC teardown pics at zdnet. XDA isn't letting me post the link because i'm not verified, so maybe someone else can.
This was inevitable, but I hadn't been able to find it until today. I thought others might be interested as well.
http://www.zdnet.com/photos/nookcolor-teardown/487636 here it is
From the pictures I see a good possibility for a bigger battery, or even adding a second one. Lots of room, it won't be pretty but something could be fashioned to fit.

Looks good.
Nice to see some more details about the NC coming out, I have yet to find a *detailed* list of the real hardware specs though.. most of the "tech specs" list mention supported ebook formats...
I ordered one of these the other day via a relative in the US and hopefully will be getting it next week some time.
I will miss the haptic feedback though so am wondering if it will be possible to replace the useless mono speaker with a motor from a mobile phone or something..

Cool idea. But it'll only work for typing and maybe apps that have clicking sounds. Still, it should work just fine. Of course you'd have to attach it to the inside real tight. Duck tape won't do

Thanks, my mind is kinda running over with ideas actually
From the teardown pics the internals seem pretty basic and there is hopefully a good bit of space. I would love to know if there are any available usb / jtag / etc headers available though.
If not I was thinking also about the possibility of modifying the usb connector with a switch and a usb 3g dongle inside, I just don't know if there is a 3g dongle that is not based on mini pcie though.
As for the haptic feedback I guess you can just assign a "sound" to everything that should produce feedback.
What about the accellerometer, is that sufficient to control cars in steering wheel based games?
/mrintegrity
To answer your very last question yes.. I have Asphalt5 running and won my first race.

The usb dongle would have to support android. To my knowledge there isn't one... but physically it is possible to stick it inside. They aren't that big, just look big cause of the plastic casing.
I think realistically, for now a bigger battery should be the first thing attempted, given the OS limitations we'd face with other mods. It would also allow us to run the NC at 800 mhz at all times via setcpu.

Did you download from the Gameloft site? I couldnt get the version from my G2 to get past the license check, and the only other version I've tried is a pirated 3.13 version. I would be glad to pay for it if I knew it would work.
Tried disabling the compatibility mode and the top of the screen is blank and I have to press high to get selections to work.
EDIT: I figured it out. You have to load a version made for Samsung Galaxy Tab or Galaxy S. I downloaded a version from Gameloft.com with Galaxy Tab selected as my phone and the game displays fine. If you purchase from their website you have to do some trickery. When they text you a download link, just type the link address from your phone in a browser on the Nook Color and the download should start and install the game.
isolated_epidemic - I'm having the same issue as you with Asphalt, as well as some of the other GameLoft games. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Grand Theft Auto III NOW!!

Grand Theft Auto III now is available in the market!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rockstar.gta3&pli=1

*If someone need to test it first PM me

i like it! its awesome!
i'll update a video, just wait
what's the app you need to use so I can play this using my PS3 controller
Mmmmm Sixaxis controller
Motorola Xoom, Overclock 1.4 Ghz, Tiamat Moray
Grabbed it for my Xoom and Photon and it looks amazing. Anyone confirm the sixaxis controller app + ps3 controller working?
When I go to the market page I can choose to purchased the game and it shows compatible with my dInc but not my Xoom. I'm wondering if it is because I am running a custom rom. Anyone else seeing this?

Nope, I'm running the Tiamat Rom and have no issues purchasing or downloading the application. Do you have your lcd resolution changed by chance? (that for some reason makes the market think that your device is incompatible)

Not that I know of. I was just trying to install remotely from the market site. I'll try on the device directly when I get home. Maybe it will work there.
In the "More from developer" on the web market, it shows:
GTA 3 (4 stars)
GTA III (3.5 stars)
Grand Theft Auto 3 (3 stars)
All from Rockstar Games Inc. All three are incompatible with my devices. However, 'Grand Theft Auto III' is compatible.
When I click on Rockstar Games Inc. the only title available for me is Grand Theft Auto III.
It's this kind of stuff that Apple loyalists have a field day with *sigh*

I think those are for different regions or languages. If you do it from your device it should bring up only the one that pertains to you.
has anyone used a Control ( ps3 or Xbox ) yet?
Ive downloaded it, got my xoom yesterday, but just wondering if it is compatible first
Any answer would be appreciated.
Thanks

So when I got home I did try looking for the app in market but no luck. Any other ideas one why it might think my Xoom is not compatible? I don't remember ever doing anything to change the resolution but maybe my ROM did by default? How can I check this?

It shouldn't have done it by default... That would have to be set by you using an application like LCD Density or something similar

I'm using a wired 360 controller, just tried it. Didn't even know that was possible until i read your post and googled it.
Playing using a sixaxis controller via USB + OTG cable, no apps required, straight plug and play. Most things work, analog sticks, etc. but there doesn't appear to be a button for the car horn, or shoot while driving, or to exit the map! That last one is quite annoying to say the least.
If you are having problems to find, download Tegra Zone, I knew about the game there , then you can click "get it! then it will automaticly redirect you to Android Market om the GTAIII page, hope it helps many people with problems

interesting app question

Would it be possible to take an apple app and put it on android some way? I bought an app on my phone, and I would get a little more use if it were on my touch pad. Its not available on the place store. Is it all possible to somehow convert it or something?

It's really just a customized Autodesk Sketchbook that's modified to work with the K1 more efficiently.
I don't think it would help to pull it. If you really want though, I can send it your way to see if it works for you.

Me too, and I am asking is there a way to make this compatible with a Samsung note 2014?
Or , just in case one can recommend a good handpainting program to use with the stylus?
Thanks in advance:highfive:

GIve the Corel Painter app a try. They have nice physical media effects.
Dabbler probably isn't going to be compatible with the Tegra Note or Samsung Note, since it is either reliant on the K1 SoC, or has software checks that prevent it from running on other SoCs.
I have clover paint https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fareast.CloverPaint&hl=en
It's so good that I asked the dev if the $20 tablet UI add-on would work with the tegra note, they said no, I got it anyway, and it works. I was only gonna get it to give the dev more money but not only does it work it's the best UI ever. The painting itself (if you read up on it you can see the praise but in short) is the bomb. I got the directstylus pro pack and am completely skipping over this gen of tablets I'm just sticking with my tegra note and clover paint and my next tablet purchase will actually be based on what the clover paint developers use I guess either when my note dies or when I want a bigger screen. I originally was 100% intent on gaming for android which is why I ended up with the tegra note, boy am I glad it had another use.
If you do use clover paint you gotta go into the stylus settings and at the bottom do the automatic pressure detection, just press down as light and as hard as you plan on, basically drag it around and practice your strokes until it's done. The one problem with it right now is it's the most advanced program ever made but there's no documentation, so for example I have the pro stylus so that's two tips, then I have a third stylus which is one of them round wire tips and each time I switch I do the auto pressure, but maybe one day there'll be stylus profiles it's really, really confusing, I think it's the language barrier, but holy moly macaroni if you like to art you better try it and you better actually get to know it before deciding you don't like it a good example is to take the oil brush and see how it mixes colors and smudges it and then you can cusotmize brushes to no end with stuff like smudging and mixing and outlining and I don't know if you're trying it yet but if you're not why aren't you go sjust go forget this post and just go

I'm pretty sure that Nvidia created Dabbler to only be used with the K1 processor. It was a way for them to show off how powerful it really is in a fun, neat way.
Pretty sure I heard that in a demo somewhere.
I don't know if there's any way to run dabbler in other devices but I randomly realized that the handwriting recognition app Shield has installed by default is an actual app that can be downloaded from the playstore. I had asked a friend if she knew a good handwriting recognition app before I got my Shield and by the time she sent me the link to the app I had already gotten my Shield so I saw right away it's the exact same thing! It's called MyScript and it's in beta. Here's the link if anyone wants to try it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.visionobjects.stylusmobile.v3_2_store

[Q] Have you seen Android Auto?

It's still pretty new but I was wondering what if anybody has seen Android Auto?
What do you think of it?
Do you think it's better/worse than Apple's CarPlay?
It seems pretty cool from a developer's standpoint - you can actually create apps to use in the car!
I've seen demonstrations of both at the Chicago Auto Show. To me, I don't see why you would compare one to the other. I think early adopters that are going to want this at this point in time are well established in the ecosystem of their choice and they are going to pick the one that matches their ecosystem.
Well i just have to say it... The design of carplay is catastrophic compared to auto... There i had to put that out
I haven't seen it in person, but it looks pretty good in my opinion.

I agree that people who are well established in their ecosystems will pick one over there other -- but is that really good for innovation? It seems like we aren't really pushing to develop new interactions but rather trying to shove the same ideas into a car ecosystem... just a thought

The pioneer head unit supports fully both AA and Carplay. Either way, it's a win, win for me. I've been using sync up until now, and unfortunately many of my mobile/auto apps do not work as expected with the new lollipop. So far I am impressed. How developers will use this should be interesting. My phone as always been part of my car so most things are already out there for use, but who knows what other great features have been overlooked and are waiting for creative development.
