Need help setting up sysctl config? - Kyocera Zio M6000

Hello first off i appologize if this has been explained millions of times. Tryed searching 2 hrs with no luck sooo here i am. I have the sanyo zio m6000 cricket network. My setting now are:
Min free kbytes: 1860
Dirty ratio: 20
Dirty background ratio: 5
Vfs cache pressure: 100
Any pro have any idea? I heard that by tweaking these it can give you better performance. Is that true? Also by tweaking these is there a higher chance of messing up phone? Thanks for any help.

@pom thx found it. Im new to this xda program and didnt see the sticky tab. @mat do u like to post up stupid unhelpful remarks? Guess I wont post at xda anymore...

I don't mind helping others... Yes I was being a jerk but if you want my opinion about sysctl.conf the stock settings with the overclocked kernel seem to run fine. Too much tweaking and your phone starts to lag and freeze up.
Sent from my Kyocera Zio M6000 using XDA Premium App

Thx mat its ok that was why i appologized in my op so i didnt upset anyone lol. Just finished reading and tweaking off of sticky and phone seems to be alot more responsive so far. Also no greenlines in youtube videos with stagefright set to true on http so thats good. I set my vm heap to 44 would you recomend another setting for that? I will have to try that oc kernal out when i get some time to flash it over.
Sent from my awesome rooted zio m6000 "cant wait for a gingerbread update"

44 will eat your battery faster, 32 is pretty nice.

dont see that option....
It was a shot in the dark
Have you successfully side loaded any apps, is it enabled on your device?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
You will need to enable non market apps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=738376
You have to enable sideloading. Search for it on youtube. There are a couple videos on how to do it. Or follow the above link. Att keeps us away from bring able to set the option to side load.

New XDA Premium Android App Released!
For a while now, we've been working on a premium version of the extremely popular XDA Android App (which has been downloaded half a million times). The premium version, now on sale for just $0.99, removes the ads, plus brings the following enhancements that the free app does not have:
+ Ability to collapse top bar to maximize screen real estate
+ Access to Legacy forums
+ Ability to add forum shortcuts to your Android homescreen for super quick access to your favorites
+ Custom XDA color scheme (changeable to default through Settings)
+ Choose whether to land on first post, last post, or first unread post within a given thread
+ Bug fixes to enhance speed
If you want to try it out (and if you hate it, Android Market lets you get a full refund within 15 minutes), search the market for "XDA Premium".

I like it better than the free version.
The default colors match the website.
It seems more responsive and maybe that's just perception, but it also doesn't have to grab the ads, either.
Choosing where to start when the app first loads is great.
Choosing where to start when reading a post is nice, too.
But...
The number one feature of the premium app is just supporting XDA, which has provided this great environment for us.
I got it just to support xda. Differences are minor but nice.

I just purchased the premium app to support xda but aside from the theme its no different than free version. I don't see any ads in the free xda app, do you guys?
most custom roms have ad blocking built in.
also the xda premium is suposed to allow you to make shortcuts on the desktop but it doesnt work for me.

Don't forget about the shortcut feature. If you long press a forum (as example) it gives you an option to put a shortcut on the desktop.

I too just installed the premium app to support xda, but I like the dark theme in the free version as it will help conserve battery. Is there a way to have the dark theme (black background with white text) on the premium app too?

Oclf or setcpu?

Hi,
I am on 2.1jh7 and wondering if i should go ahead with a lagfix or just with an app to change the setcpu. Does the oclf do some other fixes too. Btw, im rooted and unlocked.
Another one, if its better to oclf should i backup the rom and then do oclf? Excuse me for noob queries.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
Oclf is old old old, the only thing it's good for is to falsely inflate benchmark scores.
So a setcpu app should do fine until the time i upgrade?
Any recomendations? Appreciate your help.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
Unless the kernel supports it the set cpu app won't do anything either. You have very little options while on stock.
Thanks. Guess i will overcome the jitters and upgrade. Dont want to get phone locked - primary scare.

Extended wifi range via hiddenmenu

Posted this in the o3d forum thought i would post here. Cause im canadian and i like my american neighbours. Eh!
Never seen any one post this tip so here is mine. The improvement was very noticeable. Discovered by me.
1. Use a different launcher that allows activites. (Launcher Pro) install.
2. Long press on homescreen click shortcut then goto activites.
3. Expand com.lge.hiddenmenu then click hiddenmenu, it should now be on homescreen.
4. Run hiddenmenu goto connectivity test. Uncheck power save. Lol.
Simple i know. But enjoy longer range and more power.

For sure about the toggle. I posted in o3d forum and its does not work for everyone. P920? V10k? So many things are different. All i know is it works on lg-p925g v10c. Let me know.

You can use this code to access that menu also: 3845#*920#
Is there a repository of these codes somewhere?

I prefer the "any cut" method. Download "any cut" from the market. Make a shortcut on your homescreen to hidden menu or connectivity test. I already have it straight to connectivity test for tethering anyway.
The most awesome upgrade to my phone yet! Thank you! Went from no wifi at work, to 1 bar! Thank-you! !!

Possible way to get p925g 2.3.5 baseband

I was searching around and I came accross this in another LG phones forum. They are extracting the baseband files from the kdz.
"Which can be extracted by flashing it with LG r&d tool, and look for the files in the temporary directory while flashing (AENEAS_FW.fls, psi.fls, R375_SIC.fls and slb.fls)."
If someone can test this out today that would be great I cant as im not home today till late if no one does then ill give it a go.
Sent from my LG-P925g using xda premium
I can try it when I'm off work.
Where is the temporary directory?
Not really sure actually I just saw this and copied I'm guessing ur temp directory for PC not exactly sure
Sent from my LG-P925g using xda premium
Oh goodness. This'll be fun. Lol
I'll have about 2 - 5 minutes to locate it with my computer. The only time I wished my computer was slower.
C\users\username\AppData\Local\Temp.
I'm guessing

It's actually hidden. You have to toggle the option to show hidden folders.
Oh ok
Sent from my LG-P925g using xda premium
I tested it. It doesn't work. It's the same type of file we can't decode. (.wdb)
Oh well it would have been nice to have
