I'd post this in the XOOM, Transformer, Iconia, NI Adam, GTab 10.1, etc. areas, too, since there aren't that many out there with Streak 7s, but there are a lot with Tegra2 devices.
I'd love to see them develop some more for Android, but their asking price is just too damned high (said int he voice of that "The rent is too damned high" guy). $15 for a game is a hard sell on mobile, even if it is a great one. Gameloft, Gamevil, etc. are selling for $2-5. $15 better blow my freakin' mind. If they had sold GoF2 for even $7, I might have impulse purchased it; $15, though, would get me 3+ games from another developer.

I agree the price tag is high in the way of mobile gaming which is a shame I personally played the whole game via the pirated one and bought the game out of principle cause its just a damn good game and retardedly addictive so when I say the game is worth it I mean it
Hell I pay 60 dollars per consol game and this game heres quality is just amazing

I appreciate you helping posting threads i figure enough of us makes a stink then it will help motivate them to develop for android devices that support it currently and do not currently support it

[Q] Prices for apps

I couldn't help but notice that, on average, the Android market apps are much more expensive than apps at the iTunes store. Is this because there is much less of a clientele? If I look into the apps for jailbroken iPhone etc. the prices are more similar.
Do you guys think that the prices will come down once the Android community grows? For now I love to support programs I use (e.g. SetCPU) but over time I'd like to get the "99 cent" apps as well
The problem is kind of the opposite from developer's pov, the lions share of apps on our devices are free. Partly this is offset by ad revenue. Some of the higher prices also have to do with exchange rates, and the relative weakness of the dollar these days,

I have not paid for an app yet on my Android phone. You have to look around. I don't think I can agree with your comment though about ITunes being cheaper. But, to my defense it has been awhile since I logged in on there. It seems like I was always paying for something on my iPhone

that is the exact reason for some of the problems lol. android users, perhaps because they are smarter, rarely pay for apps. apple users seem to be the same people that a couple years ago were paying 5 dollars for a 15 second ringtone lol. the whole "willing to pay" aspect of the apple fanbase is the main reason why media companies, corporations, etc love to push and develop for iOS; sometimes makes me wonder if i would be happier being a chump.
real lesson though: donate/pay for android apps people! (i personally prefer donate model, but people love to be free riders, so that might not work)
Thanks for all the input! I agree with all of you. When I pay the devs here at the Android community I feel like I pay someone in person. At iTunes it will most likely be gobbled up by Apple (30%) and the big software corporations.
The main reason why I posted this was that I saw the same game at the Android market for 250% of the iTunes price... If I think something is worth buying (or donating to the creator) then I'll do it. Heck, I'd even be willing to pay if someone would develop a stable Honeycomb ROM for the NOOK!

Don't forget that Goolgle gobbles up that same 30% from developers.

Please support our game developers with positive comments!

Sorry guys for the double post, but the developer of the popular Bang bang Racing has asked that us members here at XDA help them by posting some positive, honest comments in the Android marketplace. Recently they have been receiving one-star ratings all due to the recent price drop, which to me is really not fair considering that all developers do this and these guys have really been working hard to fix the issues that we had with this game from the first release date. negative comments can really stop people from buying games, which in turn can hurt us as the developer wont focus on a platform that is not selling their games well enough. So in short, please take a minute or two to place some positive feedback as they deserve it. And look for more great games from the developer and updates soon Xoomers!!
Yea the game is great and if it was worth it for you when you first bought it then you shouldn't be mad enough to want to rate down a developer just cause the price dropped. People need to keep in mind that they are reviewing the game as it was when they picked it up and games of this caliber are few and far between; I feel like even if you don't personally love the game, if you can appreciate what the developer is doing then you should rate up and let other people decide if the price is worth it for them. But I'm one of the few people that think that there are mobile games worth MORE than what developers charge for them.
It sucks for peeps that bought the game early at full price (me included) and the controls sucked, now that the controls are fixed and bugs fixed, the price drops half price, I think it should be the other way around.
Just my thoughts.

I agree with you!! We finally have some quality games for Android an people want to complain over price drops!! Name on developer that releases a perfect game n keeps the prices the same??
whoever complains are idiots and have so much time to waste, i bought it regular price and even though i didnt like it at first, it grew on me and i love it now, if only you can get us some controls like death rally that would be great.and yes, most developers drop prices after couple of weeks, for a limited time.

Good idea on the ccontrols, I will suggest that one. The tighter controls really make the game much more fun, I can now come in at first place most of the time.

I agree that it sucks; but decisions are made before the game comes out but the real world situation is constantly changing. They decided after a while to add control options and lower the price to entice new people to purchase the game and for this people who initially bought it are getting upset because they feel they were cheated? it's not like the developer tried to screw anybody and I don't think they deserve a bad rating because of this. If you really have issues then just contact the developer directly; but to rate the game down and therefore tell others who don't bother reading the reviews but just look at the stars the game isn't worth buying is silly. The devs are just lucky that overall the game has good reviews.
This is almost like getting upset that I can score a better deal on a new Xoom right now then those who bought it on day one, and mine would come with HC 3.1 which makes it better then when it first came out....
That doesnt make sense....

It doesn't at all..The developer is now as we speak preparing updates to this game, they want to keep the game fresh n exciting for us. How many Android developers do we have that give us this type of support, especially when the game hasn't sold well? They have been really great an to suffer in sales due to immature ratings is not just bad for them, but bad for us also...we need to show support for developers who deliver quality which the Android platform needs

That doesn't make any sense, right...!?!?!

I also bought the game day one and hated the controls so i refunded it, if they didn't lower the price i wouldn't of given it a second shot (glad I did, cuase now its great) good move on devs part with the 3.99 price.

[game] Armed! - Starcraft style

I do not know if this has been posted before, but Armed has been released about a week ago. I've been playing it like crazy ever since. Has multiplayer, turn based, etc. CPU AI is pretty hard too.
Check it out here.

A lot of reviews say it crashes on startup!
be sure to trial it, if possible, before you waste $4.00USD lol.

It still has a few bugs which may result in crashes every now and then. But it's very stable most of the time. At least for me. Its developers are working hard on some updates that address the bugs/crashes and add new features and maps. I for one don't regret spending 4 bucks for this - in my opinion - awesome game.
I haven't played/test it. I mostly just did some research of reviews. Seeing a good many people say it crashes during start up. They can't play the game. So, just a friendly advisory!
Try powering off your phone. It also has issues for region not being in English/US. So if that happens change your region I think. Otherwise, just wait for the fix.
I love the game, and $4 is nothing for this.
Hi guys.
I'm one of the developers of ARMED!
We're first time smartphone developers... we did a little Java phone development in like 2004, but most of our experience is in PC and console games. Try as we might we had some crash bugs... most of them related to non-US regions.
We spent alot of time before release testing the stability of gameplay... we ran thru hundreds of thousands of automated games driven by special stress test AI, but we made some rookie mistakes in other areas... like not testing the game in different locales.
It also doesn't help that it wasn't till yesterday that we got our first stack traces from Microsoft.... that was almost 2 weeks since our game was up on the marketplace. That's way too slow for the pace of moblie development IMO... we've learned our lesson there are have integrated Bugsense (google it... forum won't let me post links) for the next release.
Anyway the 1.1 release just appeared in the marketplace and it addresses all the bugs we knew of as of a week ago. I'm sure we'll find more, but at least the locale and a couple of dumb crash bugs were squashed and should make it playable for everyone.
Thanks for trying ARMED!
i like the graphics and control. Keep up the godo work.
Are the price depends on our country that we are residing or it's in standard USD.I mean for all the apps in the markrtplace.
Question to the developer:
I am an indie developer with Full-time job, and have my own game on Marketplace as well. How do you promote your game, and do you earn something for all hard work you put into the game ? As I see it right now, it would be really hard to make a living from it.
My game is free (with ads) and recently I added non-ads version of the game for people to donate something, or to disable ads.
What I found out is that from ads you earn ~0
Btw. As I said before your game is really an Eye candy
@Ttblondey
The developer has control over pricing in each region individually if they want to set them.
In our case we set the price for the US region and let it automatically set the equivalent price in all other regions.

I sort of agree... it depends on your app/game. Most of what i see on the marketplace are things one could build in a couple of hours or clones of other apps/games. It is hard to rally users behind you if you don't have a unique and high quality product.
At the current sales/ad rate we could not support our entire company (6 people) with ARMED! sales on WP7 alone. We could support one employee... but not 6.
To me this is a victory and shows the potential of WP7 in the future considering that its only 1%-2% of the smartphone market. With the push MS plans to make over the next few months i expect our revenue to at least double if we can keep the attention of the audience with updates and improvements.
That all said... we are looking at ports to other platforms to maximize revenue from the ARMED! brand and core tech. We're not ready to disclose what platforms those are yet... but it won't be Android.

We're struggling with our ads as well. It is all new territory for us, so i'm giving it some time before i pass judgement.
Our 1.0 release was missing ID_CAP_WEBBROWSERCOMPONENT which seems caused the ad network to not show near as many ads as it could. Still even after fixing this in 1.1 on my personal phone i still don't see ads at times which is really confusing to me. Still i see ad revenue improving, but its barely enough to by coffee for the office.
There is money to be made with ads... people are doing it now. Also WP7 often has a higher revenue on the same amount of impressions... but you have to get impressions.
If your game/app is not attracting users then you won't make money with ads. You need to be seeing 50K to 100K impressions per-day to really support yourself with ads alone. Most developers do this by shipping several high quality apps... not just a single one.
Looks very nice!

I had a ball playing this. and didn't get bored at all with it. though It drove me nuts at times...you know when you don't play it well... over all the game is nice and nice work done on it by the Dev team....it's well worth the money....
Looks really sweet. You should consider porting it to tablet enabled Windows 8 computers seeing as the beta goes live in Feb. Then you would be the first indie to have head to head between phone and tablet

[BOUNTY] Let's get PhantomHacker a Nexus 7 Fund [Pot: $30]

I hope that some of you are familiar with PhantomHacker and his contributions to the Android Development community. He has proven to be one of the most recognized ROM developers. Personally, I wait for confirmation that he'll be developing for a particular device before I even consider purchasing it. Ever since my Galaxy Tab 10.1 days (StarBurst ROM), I have declared my allegiance to his ROMs. This has carried over to the Samsung Galaxy SII and now the Samsung Galaxy SIII (Blazer ROMs). I could only imagine the types of things he would bring to the Nexus 7.
I inquired about him developing for the Nexus 7 and he said he would love the opportunity but doesn't have the funds to acquire one for himself. I told him I'd start this thread to appropriate enough funds so that we can get him one. Considering the fact that these devices cost so little, I figured, with your help, we could get there soon. I'd like to acquire enough funds to get him the 16GB version, but we'll settle with the 8GB if need be.
If you'd like more information about his work, check out these threads:

Wow guys! C'mon! Let's get some premier development for our device going. I know that there are some superb development going on right now, but PH really would add a lot of neat tricks to our N7.
Kind of sad that the N7 community isn't as giving as the phone communities seem to be. =/

Well-established devices that are attractive to developers on their own (e.g. any Nexus device) don't need device donations to facilitate development. Especially devices that are dirt cheap to begin with.
Also, the skillset required for a Nexus device is VERY different from that required for a device that does not have AOSP support. Experience with smali-hacking and deodexing is of no benefit on a Nexus. Even well-established smali-hackers don't necessarily fare well on Nexus devices - see Designgears as an example.
Also, really, he doesn't have enough money for a $200 Nexus 7? He's paying for devices and service on at least two different carriers, and paid full unsubsidized price for at least one of those devices - If his work were indeed that good, he would have made enough money from previous donations to pay for the N7.
Donating a device upfront to a developer RARELY works out. Look at the Infuse community - There were at least three devices donated to developers in the early days of that device who received devices and did either nothing or almost nothing with them. The only device donations that actually resulted in any significant benefit were donations of used devices when owners upgraded.
I wish i could help i am very low on money, but you have my word i will throw so cash when i have it. The more devs we have the better

I created this thread because I mentioned in the SG3 thread about development for this device and he said that he would love to develop for it but was lacking the funds.

All t700 owners please read ( devs too )

Hello everyone,
As i am new here in the XDA world i don't know if this thread is legal or not but i will give it a shot, why not. I was always an apple fan boy since ipad 1, but for the past year i was having my doubts about apple. So i did my self a favor and i purchase an android device, more specifically a Samsung galaxy tab s 8.4 ( wifi only ) or aka ( SM-T700). I did a heave research before i purchased it and i realized it was the best thing under 10". ( i knew i was a getting a TW device )
After my purchase i realised i was not happy at all with the performance of the tablet and a friend suggested XDA as he is using it heavily for his own devices ( tab s, moto g 1st, kindle fire ) He was super pleased with the work of all the devs in here so i said why not, i will join.
After going through all the threads one by one, and reading every single post in them ( talking about T700 threads only ) i realized that the devs that are so effortlessly working on the ROMS and kernels they either don't have the tablet to test or they are not so motivated as they used to be, mainly because people demand things from them without giving back. I recently read in a thread a developer trying to defend his position about his ROM and another guy talking to him about the ROM and the battery life like sh**. Well if it was me i would easily ask from XDA to ban that user. After witnessing that i was like "WT* Dude"... Anw what i am trying to say here don't demand if you don't give, just wait patiently. These 3 paragraphs was only my introduction to my main point.
Since i want to thank our developers and i am talking about 3 here. The guy who makes CM11 @Barracuda77777 , the guy who makes CM12 @eousphoros and the guy who makes the kernels @UpInTheAir . I noticed that these guys are either not motivated enough cause many people don't appreciate or they either don't have the tablet to test and they are waiting for people to test therefore the ROMS come out slower.
My proposal to all of you users here and owners of the T700 version is why not collect some money and buy these guys 1 device each so they mod the hell out of it and everyone can get happier? This is not a charity for them and no they did not ask me to make this thread. I am making this thread because i want to thank them as much as possible for using their spare ours to give FREE their ROMS to all of us. How about we each tip 10-20$ to buy 3 devices and send them to the guys? It's a win-win for all. They get a nice Christmas present as a thank you from all of us and you all get better working roms with a cost of 10-20$
I am willing to collect the money for the guys, so i can get nice deals for the devices. If you are interested send me a PM and i will do my best to find the fastest shipping company in my country so i can deliver the goodies to them
TIME-WASTERS AND HATERS PLEASE DON'T EVEN REPLY TO THIS THREAD. YOU ARE NOT WORTH MY TIME.
Glad for you to be on Xda! I have a T800 (10.5 inch model) and yet we also have roms and kernels from the same devs in this post. They both made a rom/kernels for both models! I'm glad that we have these devs that bring life into our tablets. I dont have any money right now ( not old enough for a job) but Im willing to test roms/ kernels for the devs and report on back for the model I own. Hopefully these devs can get what they deserve. We are lucky to already have such awesome roms and kernels and some other tablets do not even have cm11 yet. Glad that you made this post! It could help the devs get what they deserve because of what they have done to our devices and gave life to them. ?
It's not always about money or motivation or ungrateful end user.
For me, it's also about time. I have a job that involves traveling away and a family. These things are most important to me.
I already support devices i can't personally test and help with guidance here and there.
There's just not enough time in the day to do more as i have other device I'm developing for.
If anyone wishes to donate, please donate to your favorite recognized charity or XDA for hosting these forums. Without XDA we would have next to nothing.
Happy Christmas to all !
Fellow T700 Owner here.
I too would like to thank the Devs for the hard work they do and XDA for supporting the community by existing.
I am always willing to help out and test out anything and everything.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

So don't feel like the folks here aren't responding because they're freeloaders....it's just too easy to get ripped off....
Just sayin'

Yea i get that, if i was going to ripoff people i wouldn't get into the fuss of joining xda and specifically the T700 owners. i would go join some other device with much more audience. anw.
I hear the frustration. Personally, I like to see ROMs from someone who is so passionate and motivated about the device that they went out and bought one, is willing to trip the Knox counter, void warranty and possibly brick the device. That person, I hope, would love the device enough to continue with development when most everyone else has moved on to the next latest and greatest device (DanielHK for the Samsung p6800, for example). In addition, the developer has to be thick-skinned enough to read complaints (both constructive and destructive) and deal with widely varying age groups that have different levels of expectations. Even so, for non-programmer types there is much that can be done via modification of the stock ROM, remove bloat, remove Knox, write to sdcard mod, etc. There is a bit of a learning curve.
What is it about the T700 performance that is unsatisfying? Perhaps there is already a solution. New launchers can be easily installed (Nova, for example). Developer options can tweak some limited performance issues. There are build prop and .xml mods also (requires root).

It fits because one of the developers noted in the original post replied and explained his reasons as to why he (probably) will not participate. He suggested that the donated money go elsewhere. Keep in mind that giving developers a tablet is not, necessarily, "giving back" -- for the developer it is also proposing that they work. Does the request propose giving the developers a tablet with no expectations of a ROM ever being developed for the device and not bothering them if a ROM is not forthcoming? If so, that proposal might be considered "giving back". Otherwise, the proposal is just reducing the material/monetary overhead for the developer but not reducing (or funding) the workload.
If a ROM is required, offer up a substantial bounty worth the developer's time and effort along with the materials -- then there *may* be some takers. That offer might make developers happy. Given the lack of responses at this time it appears that the offer as it stands (funded mainly by others) is not enough.

Now i get your point and you are right. The only purpose of this thread was to help those developers who are developing the rom and struggling without a tablet to actually have a tablet to test but most importantly for us to Say "THANK YOU" to them by giving them the tablet. If they want to work more or less after getting the tablet is their business. I was just kind enough to think about starting this thread. About upintheair i get where he comes from " NO TIME AVAILABLE " and i appreciate his honesty. Even though he has a tablet. The money portion of the thread collected can be given to him if he has a tablet and again as a thank you not as a "please work more"
I hope i was clear enough because i was in a hurry writting.
Thanks
