Backing up and Restoring - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I backed up my Mango Beta 2 from my phone and flashed my HD7 with the new tmo ROM... would I then be able to restore the Mango Beta 2 backup or will it overwrite the ROM files?
I already have a way to backup my phone

there is an answer for you question in wiki's

here it's pasted from the link...
///Should I do a restore from backup after I have upgraded my rom to a new version?
Short version N0
Long Version; If you restore a backup after a rom upgrade you are going to downgrade your software to what you had before the upgrade. Thus do a rom upgrade, sync your outlook, re-install your applications, re set your local settings.
Yes you can do it another way but at the momment you are reading BlueAngel For Beginners.///
Thank you, I did look there honest, but not well enough obviously

Backup Image ROM

How do i backup my rom ?
because i want to try another rom, and my existing rom there are so many application that i had installed
and my plan is if the rom doesn't fit my needs, i want to restore my previous rom without installing the apps from 1st time
thanks
Assuming you have a backup of the ROM itself, then an application such as Sprite Backup would allow you to restore your phone to its current state. Step 1 would be to put the current ROM back onto the device, and Step 2 would be to restore the Sprite Backup that you would make before flashing your new ROM.
AFAIK, there's no way of taking a "snapshot" of your phone, ROM and applications, and being able to restore back to that at some point in the future.
Cheers,
Steve.
thanks for the response,
btw: is there any freeware to do that ?
thanks

[Q] How to backup and restore HTC One

Hi am relatively new to this. Planning to root my HTC one and install a custom rom. Is there a way to fully backup the phone(including contacts, messages, apps, pictures, music, settings, preferences etc) essentially make a clone of the phone so i can restore between custom rom updates? I mean since custom roms are updated so often i dont want each time i upgrade to setup the phone from scratch. I want the Android Revolutuion HD rom and i dont think its upgradeable over the air. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Yes once you install recovery there is an option to do a full nandroid backup. You can than restore said backup - but before you restore your backup, you must wipe system/data/cache
Edit: I think I misunderstood first. You want titanium backup probably to restore data. You shouldnt backup settings and system data only app data
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium

[Q] Need to backup the stock rom v16

Hi all I am from India and I got this Mi3 phone a while back in august. Now i have never updated the phone and its in version MIUI-KXDMIBE16.0.
i am very satisfied with it and I have never wanted to update as of now. battery life is great. Not i've seen that the newer update provides more ram space and so on. I want to update to the new version. But problem is that If i dont like it I want to comeback to this (v16) version. i have looked online and no one seems to have the stock rom of the mi3 v16. If I update it means I can never come back to this rom only version 15 or version 18 is available on net.
So here are my questions
1. can i make a stock backup from my existing phone? If yes how? (I need to upload a copy to the forum also seen a couple of people asking for it)
2. if stock is not possible can i use any other recovery to backup this current rom and revert back to it? if yes how?
Use cwm recovery to backup and restore a nandroid backup.
