[SOLVED] Reduced quality of transferred images! - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After I transferred some .jpg files from my PC to my X8 I noticed a HUGE reduction of their quality. For example, gradients! In my pc they look OK, but after transferring them to my phone, there was very noticeable gradient banding. They were horrible in so many ways. Every gradient looked like crap!
Has anyone else noticed this? Any fix?

are you using android gallery? if yes, you will see that huge reduction of quality, specially the background gradients because that gallery downsizes them.
try another gallery app, in SE 2.1 Album gallery that problem does not exist

So if I use a file manager, that won't happen? Let me check...
Edit: I must still open them with the gallery app. Is there any equivalent app on the market?

Tried it but it seems to run a bit slower than the included gallery. The previews are cool but sort of gimmicky. Its easier and faster just to click on your album and scroll to see what's in it. Actually the roms gallery runs much faster on my phone than this one does.

can someone compile the stock gallery?
this one is too slow. same version i tried on the evo
its nice to zoom in clear on this on though
i need to be able to flash the stock gallery in clockwork. thanks
actually i think WHY this one is so slow, is because
it renders the fotos in hi res, verses or stock one.
a trade off
Darn, I wanted this. Flashed it. Icon changed but I get FC loop.. :/
errr it's too SLOW showing pictures in HIGH res ....
how do i go back to the original since i deleted the old 1 now ....?
or is it a better version for i9000 faster one ? it's taking 2 sec to load the pic in high res (first load is in low res than changes ...)

You were supposed to back the old one up first. You might be able to pull the old one out of a rom or something. At least you got it to work it FC looped on me.

[Q] Transparent aosp mms apk

I didnt do this myself just modded it a little. if you push this you can see it looks fine until you scroll then the transparency turns to a solid grey also the tint in the message boxes are too dark when mms is set to black background. I know that it is xml which needs editing and I cant edit xml because my pc is not eclipse or sdk compatible (I tried everything) So what i was wondering if someone can edit this for me and remove the solid color when scrolling and lighten the dark tint on the black bg setting. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

When looking at the status bar, swipe bar and no on-screen buttons (which were implemented firs on ICS) I'm afraid this is even Android 2.3 Gingerbread so this theme is impossible to get xD
And also I think it's strange combination, ummm... lockscreen-like launcher?:
Widget with "Ewa flight"
"Lockscreen" swipe bars
Clock widget
And these 5 dots which are present when we are using the launcher...
And the phone seems to be pretty small... or James Bond have BIG fingers.
funny

These are stimulated images according to the concept of the movie with Sony advertisement (Xperia T and the clock, lockscreen etc). There is no such UI though :-/
Posted by Xperia™ Ion via xda-premium
The ui looks real similar to the Sony Ericsson ui on old xperia phones (x10/x8 etc..) I think that is the closest you will get.
I dunno if you'll be able to find it for the new xperia devices though :/

Light trails and manual focus on the z (Images)

So I've been searching for an advanced cameras app where you can play around. So far I've come across camera v5 not sure if the name's right... The Beauty of it is that you can adjust the shutter speed to capture light trails like in a dslr... What I'm looking for is something that lets me manually adjust the focus.. The Optimus black on ginger bread had the option and it was great, any one know of such an app?

Increasing the shutter speed will result in less light coming inside the camera so the pic will look dark or even black.
Long time i didn't tried CM roms so i don't know what settings it has.
Could you attach some settings screenshots.

The app is called camera fv 5. It's a paid app on the platform store.. Also increasing the shutter speed won't capture more light.. You need to set a long shutter delay to capture light trails...

The only way i've discovered is to run either Doomlord or Pimped kernels (requires unlocked bootloader) and toning down the 'brightness', it trades off some brightness for better viewing angles + slightly better saturation. Other than that, it basically comes down to the horrible panel screen itself.
Isn't there one (or more) module for Xposed framework that gives access to some screen adjustment on any phone?
Yup like x reality for whole screen everywhere

Your best bet would be flashing a custom kernel with that feature that modifies gamma etc. One of those kernels is DoomKernel.
unfortunately Z1's biggest problem is the tft panel with this terrible contrast . the only way is to use a custom rom with DoomKernel to adjust the colors and combining it with white balance for a better experience and better contrast and viewing angles.but notice that the brightness will be very very decreased!
