PROBLEM: Galaxy Ace flashed with Korean ROM for SHW-M240S - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All, I have done something stupid and now my ACE is a little bit broken.
After flash procedure with ODIN and Korean rom for SHW-M240S, my IMEI was changed and on a main screen appears sw number. So phone is working but different IMEI persist and this stupid RED sw number on a wallpaper
I was flashing back my phone with a lot of different roms, reset to factory values and still the same. Maybe full recovery from CODEROM could help, the problem is that i don't make backup Hope to find kind user, who will make a clean backup and send it to me... I'm just a girl and probably this is real problem

Why were you flashing a Korean Firmware anyway? You might get away with flash european roms on india or south american aces. But the korean ace has a different feature set. I think you have to restore nv ram which stores the IMEI. Maybe someone with experience with the matter will be able to help.

Hope that i find someone with experience

Hey!
Maybe this can help out.
HERE!

You didn't understand, i need a clear copy from OTHER phone

OK, my mistake, i'm starting to try Your backup..

still the same there was no android.img

Hey, iv got the same problem. Please help us! :-(

I was looking for similar files in European and Korean software... File amss, which is in MODEM tar archive looks suspicious... In all European roms this file has the same size, in Korean rom it's bigger. Maybe it overwrites something important in ACE?

Im trying everything and searching everywhere but still found nothing :-(

maybe someone advise if this helps https://opensource.samsung.com/reception/reception_main.do?method=reception_search&searchValue=S5830

Same here.

one solution is installing VillainRom, there is no sys info on display. interesting!

Kabooot - it looks like your /efs folder is corrupt. If you have made a backup of that folder, you can try restoring it. There are some pointers on this thread.

If following all that stuff from the link does not work (I hope it does!), then you might try to flash a firmware with Odin, and select the option "Phone EFS Clear".
NOTE: I am not entirely sure this is safe!
But when I had the EXACT same problem you are having, I reflashed my phone like 20 times with many different firmwares, and a few times I selected that option. Then one time... just randomly... my phone started working, and I even got back my original IMEI and stuff.

I think he is a young kid & may not have a lot of experience/patience of many of us here, I think some patient soul here can guide him to flash an official ROM over Kies. I think Kies can see the phone in download mode & can update the firmware.

[Q] Bricked NTT DoCoMo Japanese Tab

Ok here goes... This is my first thread post here but I am in serious need of help.
I have searched and searched the forums for a hopeful answer but I have found it difficult to find the answer I seek.
So here is the story:
Bought a GT second hand from Akihabara in Japan which was locked to NTT DoCoMo. I was using it as a WIFI only Tab and all was wonderful till my IT brain decided it could be better and I began to tinker.
I had been looking around for a way to make my Australian Virgin Mobile SIM to work on the tab and found a lot of good answers but nothing that would make it work.
I then had the brilliant idea to change the firmware with a European firmware so I could get all the features enabled from a fresh start. Which is where it all went wrong.
I first tried to flash the tab using Odin 1.7 with the P1000XXJK5 euro firmware from samfirmware.com
This failed and left my tab with the picture of a phone and a pc with a dotted line and in between them an exclamation point in a triangle.
After a lot of fiddling (I dont remember what I did but I managed to get rid of that screen had something to do with retrying the flash and it was very late last night at this point) I managed to try again but Odin just kept failing on running the updated firmware.
I then decided that it would be a good idea to run the Rotohammer firmware by following the instructions on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895827&highlight=sc-01c
This is where I once again received errors from Odin and now my tab is somewhat bricked.
I tried reflashing but same errors every time. (I currently dont have the errors from Odin but I will update my post when I get home)
I can still get to the downloading screen (Yellow triangle with the Android digging) so I am hopeful all is not lost.
So now you have heard my sob story I will ask two questions....
1. Has anyone actually successfully flashed a Japanese model Tab?
2. My only thought/hope at the moment can anyone direct me to an original NTT DoCoMo firmware so I can at least go back to having WIFI only Tab?
Thanks in advance if you can help
Alex
Yes , i suggest you to wait until you get a right firmware for it !
That would probably work if the partitions are a match !
What is this model called btw ?
"NTT DoCoMo Japanese Tab" or there is any model ? such as M180 for korean , P1000 , P100 Sprint , I800 Verizon , etc..

Oz the model is SC-01C it has a build date of 2010/12
I was thinking considering I can get into the build/download screen maybe trying an emergency firmware recovery using Kies.
Hi,
I'm a fellow SC01 owner. You can get a backup of the stock firmware here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OJAK2UZF
Firmware code is SC01COMJK2
I believe there are newer firmwares (which I haven't installed as some of them contain a new bootloader that only allows for signed firmwares, same as the international units) that I have seen mentioned on various Japanese blogs. Let me know if you want me to try to hunt any down for you.
As for my SC01, I installed the custom kernel by koxudaxi and it's working great. Mind you, I've only changed to this kernel and apart from that am running the stock OS. I got his kernel here which can overclock to 1.4GHz: http://koxudaxi.sakura.ne.jp/
The kernel I installed via Heindall is zImage_ntt_2. It looks like he's built a newer version though, I might check that out. I think what you might want to do, is in download mode try to restore the above backup to your unit. Look up the Roto Backup thread to see how to do this. Hopefully since you can get download mode, all is not lost. I personally think it's quite crummy that there are different hardware versions like this which aren't interchangeable though >_<
I'm going to give the original firmware a go today at lunch time and I will let you know how I go. Thanks anyways for the link if all goes well I'll look at possibly trying the the koxudaxi kernel.
UPDATE: Well I'm not having luck getting the firmware to flash to my tab I keep getting "Failed to retrieve config Descriptor" when trying to flash. I will keep plugging away.
UPDATE: Still getting the same problems using heimdall to flash the tab. Any suggestions as to what I could do next?
Recovering a Docomo Tab
I'm currently running Overcome v1.1.3 ROM and richardtrip's V15 kernel on my SC-01C.

You're getting this error from Heimdall, right? Have you tried Odin 1.7?
Here's how I recovered my Tab using Odin:
1. Following the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895827, specify the P1_add_hidden.pit in the PIT button and select Re-Partition.
2. Specify the stock Docomo ROM when pressing the PDA button.
3. Ignore the Phone and CSC buttons, as the stock ROM already contain these items.
You should be able to restore your Tab to stock settings using this procedure.
If this doesn't work, you might want to check if the USB connection to your PC is ok, and if everything necessary to run Odin is installed on your PC.
Bugger!
Well thanks for your help all of you but I think I have just made matters worse.
Last night I had success in flashing the original docomo firmware provided to me by zetsurin but I think I shouldn't have included the boot images.
Unfortunately I think it is completely bricked now it now wont turn on and when plugged into power (thinking that the battery had died) it just comes up with a white screen.
I can't boot into download mode and I can hold down the power button till I turn blue in the face... So as Bones would say "It's dead Jim"
Unless any of you have anything else I could try as a last ditch shot I might just have to ship it back to Japan and get them to fix it or maybe try Samsung here in Oz.
Serves me right
Thanks again.

The SC01COMJK2 firmware does not contain protected bootloaders, by the way.

I've heard about this happening when the battery runs out. Try connecting the Tab to your PC (not your AC adapter) and let it trickle-charge for an hour or so. If successful, you should see the download screen.
fury1sog unfortunately that didnt work
spoke to the samsung repairers here in Aus and they said they can take a look at it for me hopefully bring life back into my unit and then I will never touch it again
Any thoughts?
Hopefully this post is still being looked at but has anyone got any ideas as to what I could do before I fork out $374 to my tab repaired by Samsung Australia?
According to the repair guys its a faulty board (not an idiot that tried to flash it) and needs to be replaced. Not sure if this is worth my trouble considering I could buy a brand new tab for $599.
There is a positive out of this, the MB will be an Australian MB and I will have a working "Australian" tab instead of the Japanese version.
Considering the unfortunate tragedy in Japan I am not sure I should try and get my friend in Japan to fix it for me.
Thoughts anyone?
I know someone who can unlock it, I have mine unlocked by them.
I was afraid of flashing it myself so I paid to have it unlocked, cost was $20.
I think you better go for the MB replacement, it's cheaper.
For what it's worth, I went to reset my tab to factory using a rotohammer backup I made when I first bought it, and got stuck in a boot loop. So I then used ODIN. Still got a boot loop. Then I tried ODIN repartition... it hung for hours. Knowing the thing was likely bricked I pulled the plug and now I am in the situation as you: I have a crappy icon of a phone + an exclamation + computer image. Dead.
I think the best thing I can do for this junk is to toss it unceremoniously in the bin. Fortunately I also have an iPad which has resumed full-time service.
EDIT: Some signs of hope in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903257
Try "heimdall close-pc-screen" to see if your tab can get kicked back into the boot loop at least. Mine has failed a repartition, but I can still get it into the boot loop, which is a start. Will experiment over the weekend.
EDIT 2: Well my tab is back up and runing. I reflashed my original roto backup using ODIN with repartition on, then I went into recovery and did a factory restore. Back up like stock now. I think I'm going to sell it though, since it's been badly dis-owned by Samsung.

What ROM is best for a SC-01C?
Hi Guys
I picked up a 2nd hand SC-01C from Yahoo Auction, and am wondering what the best ROM to use with it is...
Looks like this guy has got an Overcome ROM on it OK, (http://chaki-ramone.blogspot.com/2011/06/galaxytabsc-01cgingerbreadromovercome.html), so I wonder if the latest version (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205990) will work OK - anyone tried? (is the SC-01C a GSM-based model??)
I'm not going to use a SIM with it, so I'm not bothered about unlocking - but just want it rooted & want a good balance between speed & battery life. If you were going from scratch with an SC-01C, what would you do? Any suggestions greatfully received!
Thanks in advance?
PS - I'm an iPhone / iPad / Ideos 8150 / Notion Ink Adam owner, all jailbroken / rooted. So I'm not scared about rooting per-se, just worried about trying something that will not work because of anything docomo has done to the Tab!
Acont you could be coma bricked try pluginging it into THE MAINS for at least 4 hours if nothing come up your hard bricked.

Need the touchscreen firmware

Hi guys. Fist of all, sorry for my bad english.
I bricked my phone's touchscreen, with update firmware in the *#*#2663#*#* and its wrote 'update failed' . My bad, dont do this. Dou you know any solutions? I tried factory reset, flashing roms ( froyo and gongerbread too), but nothing helped. The touchscreen stopped responding. But i think, if i can reflash the touchscreen firmware, it will working. It is possible flash the touchscreen firmware from sd card? Actually where are the files of the driver in the file system?
Can we explain, what happened actually when click on update on the tsp firmware screen? Which application/ script started? I thinks, the touchscreen files are in the tsp ic, which is separated from the flash, so just flashin a new rom dont write data to the tsp ic. But the files must be in the rom too, because some people did the update without problem, and the firmware version is changed, and the touchscreen works better then before. Do you have some ideas? If you have root acces, please browse the system folder, i thinks there is somewhere a "tspupdate" or similar named shell script/application what i need. But dont run it, it can brick your touchscreen too!!!
Sorry for my bad englis.....

THIS MAY MAKE THINGS WORSE, BUT SOME DO NOT CARE. DRAGONS AHEAD....
Either way hoarding knowledge is a big peev of mine. I have read about this issue from as many google'able places as possible. I started reading after I went thru the release notes from some of the sX series. I notices that some carriers listed ghost/glove tsp firmware update/support. I also noted as the original poster did, that the files are in the rom. I would guess look thru all the updates your carrier made available and download the specific whole rom update and factory restore / apply it. Should this not work look thru the system folder for the file. When you have it copy it to your sd card where the tsp update screen tells you to put it. Try running the update again.
If this works please confirm this.
I think possible looking in system folder I recall a firmware folder possibly inside lib or modules somewhere.
I read that tsp modes are controlled from, so logically the files should be nearby.
/sys/class/sec/tsp
or depending on phone/model
/proc/touchpanel
I will keep an eye here, I am busy with some debricking and roms in general.

Help Please I've Bricked my Samsung 8.9 wifi tab

Hi All
Today I thought I would try to install Jellybean on My tab, I am a total nube at this but thought I could follow the tutorial. First I rooted my tab, then tried to backup the tab but it didn't work and then I thought what the hell I'll just try it.
Now it just shows the black and white Samsung Screen and won't turn off.
When I go in to the Android System recovery a message shows - /cant access to ‘system/csc/XEF/system/
I've tried using Odin and all seems good but I can't get ClockWorkMod to appear on my tab.
I bought my tab in the UK but it got shipped from France so has default language setup in French If that has anything to do with it.
Please help, I've tried following some threads on here but some of it seems to be out of my depth. Could someone explain in simple terms how I can get my tab back to normal?? It would be very much appreciated. I'm so annoyed at myself :crying:
Thanks in advance
Mike

So when it has downloaded should I try to find a CSC file as well as the PDA file to send to my tab?
Please Help :fingers-crossed:

Luckily I've never had to use ODIN with my Tab, however back in the days on my SGS I used it a lot.
So just a few things: you don't have a CSC file, because your tab is a Wifi only model, so don't worry about that.
Also, be sure to tick the re-partition box on the left if you are using a pit file (which at this state you should), this should repartition your internal SD and thus have a clean install.
Good luck
Thanks, but i've got it working and I'm not gonna mess round with it again.
Can't believe i finally got it working!

S3 mini boot loop problem

Earlier today after the installation of a music player from google play(i include the music player part because the incident occurred about 2 hours later), my phone has been doing constant boot loops.
It was working perfectly until it just suddenly blacked out, restarted itself and it makes it as far as samsung logo until it restarts again.
This was a pure stock s3 mini. When i came home, i decided to flash TWRP and change to a reputably working PAC kitkat. However the boot loop persists.
Any ideas? i'm at a loss.
Thanks in advance.

multiple times. Unless TWRP isn't getting the job done, which im sure isn't the case. I read a few threads where people had similar problems and it was suggested to do a battery change so ill try that and see what happens.
Guys i need some answers for a few questions please, or if possible, a link to thread(s).
1. Phone versions: Is there a way to identify your phone's version, example "I8190XXANC2", without having to turn on the phone. Im trying to locate my stock 4.1.2 JB.
2. I found a guide to unbrick soft-bricked S3 mini's. My problem matches one of the characteristics which is rebooting on its own after samsung logo. The guide includes the files, (and the stock ROMs hence why im trying to find my phone's version) and a param_I8190.tar file, which they say is to be used should the phone be stuck in a boot loop. My question here is, should i try the param_I8190.tar with Odin without flashing the stock ROM (i never rooted or customized my phone by the way)?
Again...thanks in advance for any assistance.
Just leaving this here...
The phone is apparently constantly unmounting the system and efs partitions. Whenever i reboot in recovery they are always unchecked. Is that normal?
Also it appears the phone works normally WITHOUT a sim card.....but i obviously need it to work with it.....i am baffled here and desperately need some assistance...any assistance.

Of course it's normal if system and efs are unchecked in recovery. So you mean your phone only booting without a sim card?

yea pretty much, thats the only hiccup. Would that have anything to do with the efs itself? Im still trying to understand what exactly it controls.

EFS is a folder that is saved in our smartphones. It controls IMEI number, serial number, WiFi MAC address, Bluetooth MAC address and many more. it means it's a very important folder and if you delete this folder then you can't call someone, turn on WiFi (because you don't have a MAC address anymore), Bluetooth etc. Only Samsung devices have an efs folder

flash the official firmware through odin. it should fix your problem. if it doesn't work then i don't know what to do else
ok thank you both. i also just found the official stock rom for my firmware. I did some digging myself and i believe i know what the problem is now. It appears the phone is missing it's nv_data.bin file, which i read induces a bootloop if it isn't present.
I will attempt the flash with odin and report in later. Hopefully it works.
It doesn't seem to be a problem with param or cache because the phone bots without sim.
Most likely is't something wrong with baseband or modemfs-folder.
Try to flash stock rom first and report back please.
DON'T do anything with your /efs. i8190 does not have NV_data.bin in efs like most sumsung devices do.

will do, thanks.
@xXPR0T0TYPEXx they didn't have the one from my region. had to get it from here http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I8190 instead. it's already downloading.
Unfortunately, the phone is still bootlooping with the sim card. Works without sim. This is rather frustrating.

Do the same problem happen if you use a other sim card?

Then it's maybe a Hardware problem. I think your sim slot is damaged.

As I said, we don't have a NV_data.bin
What happens when you try to enter recovery and/or download mode?
