I'm guessing you're talking about the microphone and headset controls. I don't know of any headphones other than the stock ones that come with Milestone that will work, but you can always try.

You can buy any iPhone compatible earphones. The only one with in-line mic and answer button. Not the control talk models (with volume up and down) because it got some problems with our phones. Pay attention for Samsung and Nokia compatible because they don't work: GND and Mic contacs are swapped on them (like OMTP standards and our Milestone is not OMTP compatible).

thread about headphones: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=738448

just checked with the iPhone hands free its working fine but you may not able to answer call using hands free..
you cant pause music and cant control volume..!!
when you use it,,it changes the track..!

I think there is no standard protocol how head phone control is implemented, iphone head phones would sure onyl work with iphone.

If anyone cares sgs2 headphones are workin to play/pause.
I don't know if they work to answer a call because i don't use headphones to make/answer a call.

Earphones/Headphones With Mic

Does anyone know of any earphones/headphones with a mic that work with the DROID Incredible (or android 2.1 phones in general)? I dont care really about the controls, just the mic.

I believe the Nexus One comes with headphones that do this, but not certain
I have the Holua Skull candy earphones that have a mic and they work really well. The button press will play/pause and answer and hangup calls. Nothing really special other than that.
I am using the set that came with my wife's blackberry (that I just replaced for her with an Incredible) and they work fine with both calls and audio playback. I am not sure that you need any special brand to get to work with your phone.
I just picked up a random $20 set of in-ears with a mic from microcenter, they're marketed for iphone, but worked out of the box.
I think I'm going to buy the Nixon Whip Mic headphones.
I have bought in ear type of headphones from the VZW store that have worked int he past. Too bad I broke them. I stepped up to a bluetooth headset.
I'm using the set from my iPhone until I decide if I will buy the Bose or something else.
has anyone tried the psp go headphones? they work really well on my tp2!
I tried to talk on the phone with a standard set of headphone (no mic) and it worked just fine--the phone uses its mic for calling if no mic is plugged in. YAY.
I'm using the iPhone headphones which work just fine

Im using the moto S-9 stereo bt headphones. Calls sound good and everyone says I come in clear too. A2DP is sweet too for trance/techno and podcasts
Etymotic HF2
I bought them for my Blackberry, I use them for my Droid, my Ipod, for everything.
I use the Motorola S9-HD bluetooth headset.
To me they work great, but the call button does not work correctly with the incredible.
All phones, at least the ones I've used works with the mic and the answer/call/pause/skip/prev/ button. I think that is just a common thing in every chipset of phones or something
South-Wing Bluetooth headset works...
I'm using the SA505 and the sound is terrific + it provides lots of control.
I'd be happy to recommend the MEElectronics AI-M9Ps that I brought for a mere $23.99. Great quality and sound for a decent price. One of the reviews here pretty much nails it:

Cross platform?

Has anybody been able to get the apple mic headphones to work?
My iPhone certified headphones work great. They aren't the original iPhone ones though, they're Nuforce (Highly recommend, and so does Head-fi.org)
I have a apple earphone that comes with the ipod when you buy it.
It works fine on my captivate!

im guessing he means the ones with controls. I think they only work on ipod but i have no clue. I dont own a pair to test it out.

Hi Guys
I've been looking for a nice headphones with mic and control buttons for my Legend
Unfortunately companies make only ones for iPhone
Apple does not like us to use them
So they have put a chip which allows them to work only with idevices
When u connect them to legend mic do not work (but the phone recognize it as coneceted)
Only central button works (allows u to play and stop music only)
I've read that there is a patch for HTC magic
Which allows to use iPhone ones
I've been wondering is there a way to make them work on legend as well
If anyone have any info about how to do it please help

You have asked this in Q&A if you get no answer,Then there probably isn't one.
DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS IN DEVELOPMENT THERE ARE ENOUGH NOTICES SAYING NOT TO DO IT SO DONT!
You should have ask this in accessories.
Dude, have you tried Jabra Halo.
The vol can use to change track.

Look up TRRS and how it works, 2 pins on the iphone jack are simply inversed. (Mic and ground) Get a DIY trrs jack cut and replace the original jack inverse 3 and 4 and it will work. There's no chip involved at all.

You may also try to use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm TRRS adapter that reverses the microphone and ground pins; however, specific remote and mic compatibility is not garanteed.

Headphones

Well my trusty stock headphones finally broke so am looking to replace them.
Don't want to spend more than 30-40 pounds either. Looking for in ear headphones with volume control, pause play and skip tracks.
Anyone know of anything?

I saw the news about those buds. Only downside is that they don't appear to have any in-line volume controls, which I believe the OP was looking for. Let us know how they sound, and if the call/end button works as advertised-- we know for sure that they'll sound awesome, too.
As for the OP's request, I've been using Zagg's Smartbuds. It uses a mechanical slider to control volume so it's not totally ideal, but I've yet to find a good pair of in-ear headphones with play/pause and volume controls.
Also, I had to install an app called Headset Button Controller to get everything to get the controls to work properly.
Long solution to what should be a simple fix, heh.

I don't understand why we don't have proper headphone with support for android :S
I don't believe it is unreasonable for headphones to have volume control and pause/skip tracks, especially when smartphones are meant to be, well, smart

PowerAMP has gapless and crossfading now, and it is epic, it's the only thing my iPOD did right and missed dearly.
i use bose MIE2 mobile phone headset, inline mic, play/pause/ff/rw single button. they cost 140 USD, but superb quality is absolutely worth it.
and android phones DO seem to work with the standard for mobile headsets.

Apple Earphones not working properly on SGS1

Sorry if this the wrong place to ask this question, but as the title says, my Apple earphones aren't clear on my s1. Plz don't say just buy beats or other earphones because the Apple ones are the most comfortable to me. When I use the apple earphones the sound quality is a bit weird, while other earphones work fine. If there is anyway to fix this problem I will be glad to hear.
Thanks.

Try this thing, while playing music, press and hold answer button on your headset, sound should become clear.
This is a well known hardware problem, it's that apple and samsung manufacture headphones jacks using different connection layout. That way headset mics do not work properly by different manufacturer. Usually, when you buying headset, it defines "iphone, htc compatible" or "samsung, nokia compatible" (not sure about specific phone manufacturer). I also have one philips headset which came with simple 3.5 female to 3.5 male adapter, to work with both connection types.
Moreover SGS1 has tv-out through the same headphones jack, this way it's more messed up, and even the sound does not work properly.
I guess your only option would be buying some adapter, seen several on ebay, specifically designed for sgs1, but I could not tell whether they do what it says.
