N64oid app - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone use this on their nexus one? How bad is the lag? Does it work fine even with the touchscreen issues?

For example does the multitouch issue make games such as super smash brothers or super Mario 64 unplayable? I've never messed with one

I'm pretty much a beginner gamer on my N1 I'm too spoiled by my Xbox360 which I use more for media consumption (just so you can get a image of how crappy of a gamer I am) I was able to pass mario 64 like 5 levels so I don't think it was bad at all for mobile device I think it gets unplayable when you start pushing those games that have combos or needs multiple buttons pressed at the same time since putting more fingers on the screen makes the game not usable.

works great on my xoom, features ambient lighting, environmental effects and 3D OpenGL graphics.
Works 90% of the time. Some times ill open it and ill get nothing but a black screen. Loved the game but after a few days of playing i lost intrest cause to get any good guns you have to have the "bucks".
I have not had any problems with it at all. A very nice game, can't beat the price either!

I quickly tried Mario Kart and it was too jumpy for me. Refunded.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidemu.n64&feature=search_result thats the link.
Apparently updates are coming out to fix audio/framerate issues.
Imagine playing this with TV out with your wiimote/zeemote/ comparable controller.
BTW anyone know of a quality bluetooth controller for Android that's not the Wiimote?

I just played Star Fox 64 on my tv through the hdmi out with the wii controller actually, wasn't too bad, video playback was great, the sound wasn't though...hopefully with some updates it'll be a good app. Impressed with it so far though!

The first update is already out and should have fixed that. You're a really jumpy refunder, lol. yongzh is very active at updating and improving his emulators.
N64oid runs well on Xoom, but it has a lot of bugs to be worked out. I'm sure a lot of games will look and run much nicer in the next few weeks, but it's well worth the purchase.
Don't have a Xoom yet but Banjo Kazooie runs awesomely on my Fascinate. The only problem is touch controls, come on Bluetooth Game Gripper!

I am only jumpy because there is a stupid 15 min refund window! lol... I'll give it a try again later once it matures more.

Can u use two wiimotes and play two players?
^^^^ I would also like to know this
I emailed the dev for the Wii Controller IME, and he said this summer he's planning on adding nunchuk/analog stick support.
Kinda curious how you guys are controlling it with the WiiMote now, analog-stick-wise, I haven't had the time since I went and picked up my WiiMote again to mess with the N64 emulator with it.
God this is amazing

Anybody can report games with no skipping?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Im only able to play a max of 5 or so minutes and then itll crash. Any1 else experience this?
ive used romgripper++ and another i cant remember.
ive played both zeldas, super smash bros, and super mario. All with the same problem.
Where do you guys get yours from.
Thnx
I use emulator plus and rom gripper+++

I have also found that the more system intensive games tent to crash after extended play.
If you turn the max skip rate up from 2 to 10 the sound plays smooth but the game jumps more.
I presume with more optimization it will become faster and more stable.
What is the control system like. I usually find emulated console games a little bit hard to play with a touchscreen due to a lack of proper haptic feedback and the fact your fingers get in the way of the screen a bit.

With our battery life do you really want to play 3d games?

Haha,
I tried n64oid for a few minutes and it seemed to work fine on some commercial stuff. Way better than it was when I tried it back in August, but I'm not sure if it was their software or the Chain3D.

[Q] Pokémon Gold deleting save file

Hey,
Since this is off-topic I guess I can ask this question here.
I bought a Pokémon Gold cardridge for my Gameboy Advance yesterday and now I have a problem with the save files: every time I take out the cardrigde, the save file is deleted. I use my Gameboy only for this game right now, so not being able to take it out won't be a problem, but I'd still like to know the cause. As the game does save normally, I don't think the internal battery has died.
Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a dead battery to me - when you remove the cartridge the SRAM is no longer powered - so while you were able to save while it was powered, the battery is not keeping it powered once it's removed. I would test it and make a save game file, leave it in the GBA and leave it overnight and see what happens.
Pokemon Gold is getting old enough that there's a very good chance the original battery isn't doing so hot any more. I believe that generation of Pokemon especially had battery issues due to the real-time clock.
This is not directly helpful and you may have considered it already, but have you thought about using an emulator to play the game on your phone ?
I did this recently on my S3 and the controls translate well to touch-screen use. The ROMs are very small, too ! The GBC ones are only ~2Mb and GBA are usually 5-10Mb. Transferring my games to my phone was just another way to consolidate and make life simpler / more fun / easier.
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have thought about playing using emulators, but playing it on a Gameboy gives it a way more authentic feeling. I guess I'll have to take it back to the store then .

I never had any problem with my Gameboy Advance, so I guess it's your Gameboy and not the games.

U think so? Cuz i bought newly and the model was old the first gameboy advance without backlight I know i was dumb that time my mom bought it for me as a gift and it used to work great but after a year the problems started occurring. Thought at first it would be feature not supported for this model. Thanks anyway its been 5 years since i bought it so i dont care!

If all games acted weird I think it is your gameboy, yes, because I think it is really strange if all games won't save anymore and the problem is not with the Gameboy itself. And even if you have one of the oldest Gameboys, all functions of the game should work properly.
