[Q] force close "com.diotek.diodict.p1.engeng" after 2.3.3

hi all
i have a galaxy tab and have upgraded to gingerbread 2.3.3 using kies and i am getting a frequent error message that an extensive google search can't explain
so i was wondering if someone in here might be able to help me out and please shed some light on it?
the situation is - every now and then, i get a force close popup for "com.diotek.diodict.p1.engeng"
a google search of this text brings up only 205 results! adding in "galaxy tab" makes it drop even more! so i am guessing it's not a common issue...
in fact, it seems the only posts are either to do with the "JME firmware" (which I dont think I have) or an app called Advanced Task Killer which I also don't have.
i have searched everywhere and not found anything to solve the problem. can anyone in here please help??
thanks!
james
i should also say that i have tried clearing the data for the English Dictionary application (that came with the tab) and also tried a Factory Reset (in privacy settings). the clear data didnt change anything but when i factory reset it, it took a few days for the issue to reappear.
thanks for the help
I had the same problem. I re-installed the 'English Dictionary' APK, which you can find in /preload/apk (you can get there in ES File Manager, don't need to be rooted) & haven't had a problem since
thanks, pokey
i tried your suggestion and so-far so-good! thanks a million!
james
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, but can't find the preload folder. Can you give me a more detailed indication of where it is?
Thanks
8Ball
/preload/apk/Apps/DioDict_EngEng.apk
Install ES File Explorer, hit the far left button to go from /sdcard to / ... then you can navigate down ...
well by now it would normally have force closed, but since the reinstallation it hasnt - so big thanks to pokey! fixed!
I have the same problem but my preload/app did not have DioDict_EngEng.apk. I found a copy of the apk, copied it to my external sd card and try reinstalling it but it did not work. Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of that error message.
Also under preload/TOSDCARD, there is a folder named samsungdic but no apk in it too. Hope someone can help me, thank you
DioDict_EngEng stops working solved...
Hello everyone...
I just registered to this forum in order to provide the following information.
I have a Galaxy Tab P1000 with Gingerbread installed thorugh the Samsung Kies update. My tab is not rooted or anything. It started showing several times a day a message indicating: "(process com.diotek.diodict.p1.engeng) has stopped unexpectedly". If you try to uninstall the application using the Android Menu, you won't be able to do it, cause the Uninstall button is grayed.
If you want to see the error, try loading the English dictionary that should be in Applications in your tab.
So, i managed to solve the issue, and it's very simple. Just download an app called APPREMOVER, and remove the English Dictionary. Once removed, get into Samsung Applications and search for English Dictionary. Just download it and reinstall it.
Before this, i tried deleting the tab data, deleting a directory in the tab using the ES File Manager, also i installed the English Dictionary from an apk i found on mediafire (google for DioDict_EngEng.apk and it will be the first hit). NOTHING worked.
So i hope this helps Orcomma, raejade, and anyone else who has this problem.
Cya guys!

How to get rid of beep sound in 2.3.6 ? :(

Hello all,
I have just upgraded to Gingerbread,
I am getting a annoying sound when the last call cost is displayed..
how can i get rid of this ?
Airtel in india displays the last call cost for each and every SMS sent.. Indians might be knowing about this better..
so, please anybody help me out of this
nobody ?
What you're seeking is to disable "USSD tone". I wonder why do you get this tone in the first place! 7 months with android and I never got USSD buzz in plenty of ROMs I have used.
By the way, I believe all you have to do is know which audio file its linking to while running that USSD code result.
What I suggest is, try looking first into /system/media/audio/ui directory by "Root Explorer" app. Listen all by playing audio files one by one. If there is the audio file what you're peeved of, mount system for R/W and delete it!
We could directly know the location of that media file by observing logcat. Just asking, have your set up ADB?
sorry,
But very noob here.. setting up ADB means ?
by the terms you are telling, i suppose there is something to do with the terminal emulator.. ? ? coz i have used some mount commands and some things to remove certain stock apps. could u give me any link of how to set up adb and steps of how to remove the stock sound and see the log too ? or tell by urself if possible ?
Thanks in advance
Yh after evry call and sms i get the beep soundto tell how much cost...i think it only occurs on 2.3.6

Never mind. Forget ADB for now, did you try to go through the location I told you? /system/media/audio/ui
1) Go to market (Play Store), search for ES file explorer, install it.
2) Open it, go to favorite, select "/" (means, root in your FILE system).
3) Go to /system/media/audio/ui, listen each file, try to locate while audio file is played at the time of that USSD code.

Can someone with unlocked Ativ help!

I installed Simple Calendar yesterday from store. The app does not start and uninstalling it didnt remove everything and the app is still present in apps list. The store says I have it installed, so I cant instal it again. Storage sense does not list it, so Im SOT and have this ghost app in my apps lis now.
Can someone please go to the apps folder and take Simple Calendar installation files, so I can make a .xap and try to sideload it to my Ativ and that way fix it so I can uninstal it!
Please guys someone, its easy. Just enable full FS access from SamWP8Tool, navigate to: Data\programs\
Simple calendar folder there is: 977e5d54-01d8-4cf8-9891-da9579ce2692
Copy the instal folder to your pc and send a download link in PM to me. I can try to make a .xap from that and try to fix this without having to hardreset!
I have Simple Calendar folder present, but they are empty so I cant make a .xap from my device.
Please guys someone, it will only take few minutes. THANKS!
Heres a topic about the procedure http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462730
Please somebody... Seems that this is the only thing I can try besidess hard reset, if I want to get rid of this app from my programs list.
You do know you can't sideload a XAP with the same Product ID as a store app, right?
Also, you seem a little more desperate than the situation calls for.

No I didnt know that, I thought I could "overwrite" it... I think I did it with one app I made a backup from, did the xap and tested it by deploying it over the original installation from the store. If its not possible, maybe I remember it wrong and actually uninstalled it before deploying it.
And yes your maybe right, but I still would like to get rid of this stupid installation if possible, without a hard reset.
