LG G2X Gingerbread Source code released... - LG Optimus 2x

http://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource.jsp
Go there, select Mobile Phones Category, and search model number P999.
You'll see V21E Source released for download.

Wrong forum. This is the forum for P990, not P999.

he is not in the wrong forum he is saying that it will be easier for devs now to bring it over to the p990 which has the exact same specs just without all the tmobile garbage on it which will be nice and it also means cm7 will get it working much better

Does that mean that Cyanogenmod 7 for P990 will now include Bluetooth audio support? They couldn't include it before because of missing proprietry nVidia/Broadcom drivers or something..... will this release include those?

I don't get it..... can't they just use the proprietry binary kernel module from the released source? I'm guessing it's not as simple as that...

Paul said this about Kernel.
Quote
As you may know from posts here, my Gingerbread ROM is based on V20A. V20B and indeed V20C seem to be 'out there', as well as a V21E for which the kernel source code has just been released. I have contacted my contact to request the latest version, which he is going to upload for me.

LGSU660 version
good news ~~~ hope can use in the P990 , or LG will release the P990 source code too .
I think both phones use the same kernel so it is safe to use the su660 kernel on the p990 I think.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
well that depends. I don't know about this but if the hardware drivers are implemented in the kernel there might be some problems because the SU 660 has a physical button and a DVB-T ish TV receiver unit.

In that case the sources are still valid but we need a different config file for the p990.

well, shouldn't be a problem if drivers for hardware are included which isn't present. The other way around would be a problem indeed.
Can somebody upload the source code to mirror website? When i download file from lg website i get corrupted file.

The source posted for the T-Mobile version is 2.2.2 right now, but maybe t-mobile is waiting to launch until they have ginger ready?
If you guys use any cut to make a shortcut to "change mms uaprofile" then open the shortcut click on "other" there is an option for the P929 on TMUS you can click that and check out the mms profile xml
Forgive the ignorance. But what exactly does that mean now that we have the source code?

It means custom kernels and you can better optimize a ROM build if compiled from source, top to bottom. Mostly, though, custom kernels with full support.
Started looking at kernel source today, would start on building rom from source but i can't connect to android git server it resolves just can never connect don't feel like working around it right now its late and I have no developing beers in the fridge so will work more tomorrow. Gotta have beers or the only thing I will develop is headaches :/ first thing is kernel work for current rom then building android system around new kernel, maybe.... if time permits... GB is so close makes me wonder if it would be worth the effort.....
Just wait for gb bro... Ive been using that rom u uploaded for me to work on.. Well since you sent it to me... I'm fine with that till GB

[Q] [Question] What if the ICS official rom would be out

Hi guys i got a serius question: What if LG will bring out the ICS update in October?
Could we use this build to make a working hardware decoder for working camera and hd movies in a JB 4.1 ROM?:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Maybe its a dumb question...
No man...this is really intelligent question...no one ever thought on this...guess you should also pm all devs...so they can be prepared in advance for this serious issue....thanx man...hats off to you

Why are you guys so picky on him? If you don't want (or can) answer then it's usually the best to just ignore the post.
We don't want to bash out each and every new member here, do we?
It isn't one of the "asked 50 times a day in each and every thread" questions.
The only real mistake the OP did was to post it in General instead of Q&A.
Anyways..
From my experience there's a lot of misinformation floating around.
The answer is yes. If we will get the official ICS release we will get a CM10 ROM.
Even a P990 leak without the kernel source would most likely help us to use it for CM10, as we could use the kernel it ships with - so what's been said here a couple posts up isn't true.
The last thing what would help us to get CM10 is a LG SU660 kernel source drop - we do have SU660 ROM leaks but need to do some changes to the kernel to let it boot. This requires the kernel source unfortunately.

I believe that was done by Dexter, although I can't be certain as you didn't bother to post a link to the video. If I am right then it's a beta version which is run with the stock kernel - if you search on these forums you will probable find a reference to it, but I think he has stopped developing for our device due to the locked bootloader and (I think) he has got rid of his 4X as well.

I do not have o4x in my possesion anymore, sorry. I have limited support options now and not very interesting. the modem driver was not easy to get around, so the sense4.1 release was never public, since it would be 900MB download for nothing, but a startup and running the senseUI, but no modem/data and wifi making it worthless.

I'm not sure there are actually ANY developers on XDA for our device. Also, the last thing I would ever want from a custom ROM is Sense - that is one of the main reasons why I moved away from HTC - it may look pretty, but it is a serious resource hog. The only custom ROM I would ever really be interested in is something vanilla - CM, AOSP, AOKP, whatever.

Start off by searching - both XDA and Google. Find out how a ROM is put together, what part the kernel, and the main O/S do - find out how to sort out the drivers, get someone else's ROM for a different device and see how it is put together. There is so much out there already, you simply need to search and if you are good enough to produce a ROM then you will succeed.

There you go. It's Semse 4.0 though, not 4.1 but most things work

Do you mean you flashed [ROM][SENSE][10-01-2013] UnoX SENSE4 for Optimus 4X HD - FIRST CUSTOM ROM!
If so then that's a fairly silly thing to do - it is an Alpha release, from a developer who no longer has the phone, and it's based on ICS, not JB.

Thridly - you've already posted your "problem" in that ROM thread, so posting here makes it cross-posting which is against the rules of XDA (and just about every forum on the planet).
