Application/Server Access - LG Revolution

Hello all.
Well in an attempt to ease access to the original applications, I am hosting the system/app folder on my file server.
Kogshole
This currently includes the original stock apps and apps from de-crapified 1.0 & 1.1 roms. I will include the app folders from revolt versions soon.
I have also hosted all the files I have downloaded from the XDA LG Revolution posts.
If you would like to see any revolution files posted here please just ask
Any Dev that asks can get full access to any of my servers. I want to help the revolution in anyway possible. That would include formatting a sever dedicated to development.
From my "I tossed my Crap, Revolted and moved out of my Home" VS910ZV6

Hey K0G thanks for this! I will get you all of the deodexed app files for the update so you can post them all up! Thanks!

I am extracting the original files from the phone using root explorer, then posting to my server over ftp. Would you like ftp access so you can upload directly?
I tossed my Crap, Revolted and moved out of my Home.

I have posted the apps from Revolt ROM 1.0 & 1.1
I tossed my Crap, Revolted and moved out of my Home.

I can't get into the server... Is it open to randoms trying to just check things out like me or no?

Thanks for the heads up. I intend this server to be used by all. I want it to be an open download location.
Sorry, i'm moving it to my office to get better bandwidth. Should be back online by 10am PST
I tossed my Crap, Revolted and moved out of my Home.

Ok that works. Thanks a lot.

Sever is moved, sorry for the down time.

Are there apps that are in De-Crap that aren't in Revolt because I don't know the difference between the two lol. Sorry I've only had this phone for less than 24 hours haha.

I should have the homeless files up on the server today.

Awesome! gonna be usefull for sure..
So this brought up an idea....is there a way to get the stock car home app working on the homeless for the time being? I know mt is working on the update that will fix the fc issues, figure a temp fix would help me alot...
Thanks again...

I'm sorry, I'll clarify.....my car home does work..sort of. When in car home and Bluetooth to my stereo, when I hang up a call the phone force closes and doesn't hang up the Bluetooth...I have to restart to get it to hang up the Bluetooth connection....turning off Bluetooth doesn't work...
Mt explained to me in another forum that it had to do with car home in LG home and it won't work with what's in either rom....
So I figured I'd try and get one myself and try to see if I can get it working.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium

The easiest temp fix right now is to freeze or uninstall the car home apks, and install a replacement car home app from the market.
LG Revoltlution 1.3

I had to change the folder structure on my file server so I apologize if any links I have posted fail.
I will try to update links as I can.

I have a question.
if i want to use the stock calendar widget what all do i need to install on Revolt 1.4?
and do i just move the apk to system/app like we do with the weather app?
also i would like to use the contacts widget as well
thanks for any help.

You mean now if I want my mods, I have to get them from Kog's hole
On a serious note, good on you, but watch for hackers and DOS attacks. It's been the reason why most of us do not host publicly for XDA from our personal servers.

I'm on the server daily keeping watch. But all advice is gladly taken.
I'm thinking of moving it to the cloud.

Anyone care for a Faster 3D gallery.apk, Credit goes to bosina in vibrant forum

Ok, I was browsing the other SGS forums like I usually do and I stumbled across this. So I downloaded it and was surprised just how fast it was.
I have alot of images saved on my phone. From my theming stuff.
This gallery loaded all of them in under 15sec. My original gallery took around 2min to do the same. Anyway check it out.
I take no credit as I didnt create it, I simply found it. I will upload link to original poster if/when I can find it again... I know it came from i9000 gingerbread leak.

This may be a stupid question but does this improve the media scan at bootup?
Nope, just faster load time for the gallery. Awe...some, thx!
I don't know if this is happening to others, but when I open an image then hit the back button, instead of taking you back to the gallery it closes the gallery. It does load a bit quicker.

I know this is a noob question, but here goes: I have never attempted to adb push anything since I always just flash things through CWM. How would I go about pushing this to my phone? I downloaded the android SDK(do I need to download anything else?)
Im pretty sure this is the same one that's included in.the comm rom. I.have about 500mb of wallpapers on my sdcard and they load in about 5 seconds with both of them.

Weird, but it actually seems slower to load than before. But does anyone know if the old Gallery let you set a specific lockscreen wallpaper separate from the homescreen wallpaper(long press image-more-set as)? If so, I never noticed. If not, cool new option!
Edit: reboot helped speed a lot.
Edit 2: Set as lockscreen wallpaper doesn't seem to work... So as far as cool new option goes, not so much.
dammm ive never saw this post lols.... media scanning ive herd also? for media scanning you guys have to get a init.d fix... search for sd speed and it should show upp..

sorry to bring this from the dead, but would this work on the g1 or should i hold off? the apk size definitely seems a tad larger then what i see in the g1 roms.

Sign into google music beta online (assuming you got an invite). after you've signed in once using a computer browser, then installed/started syncing your computer music collection with the "music manager"
you'll be able to "sync" with the music beta app on your phone.

I'm against apple and the way it conducts things. (product price markups, closed source, among other things)
Osx in itself isn't all that bad, it's relatively easy for people to get and looks...fine. But that's about as far as it goes lol.
I will say that using adobe software -photoshop/after effects- along with a few other media software is nicer on osx than their windows counterparts. The keyboard shortcuts are more intuitive

[Q] What do I need to modify in build.prop to keep the latest OTA from pushing?

Yes, I know I could just install a custom ROM. But I'm just looking for the quick fix. I heard the latest OTA breaks root and makes it harder to root or impossible. Just want to get rid of the notifications for now.
Alternatively, does anyone have the build.prop from the OTA that I could just copy over so the phone thinks it's updated?
It requires more than just a build.prop edit.

You asked what to modify in the build.prop. I answered your question. No need for the smart alec secret society comment. This is a pretty chill group of people that will do anything for anybody. Ok, so you're saying that if I want to go back to Derap 1.1 all I have to do is delete the updat.apk but I'll lose BT? I don't have to modify boot.img and update.apk just delete update.apk? I'm cool with losing BT, I don't use it.

Thanks! Bluetooth isn't a big deal.
Since renaming MobileUpdateClient.apk to .bak it looks like I'm going to get a serious boost in battery life. Since doing this, 3 hours ago, I've only lost 5% of battery. I would usually lose around 10% every hour. Maybe BT has something to do with poor battery life on this phone? I don't know, but it's worth looking into. I hope it's the case.
On a side note, you may want to reboot after update, or do what I did and try to enable BT. When you try to enable BT it will act like it resets the phone sort of like a soft boot. Phone feels lighter too....lol jk.

Favor? Post stock email app please?

This might not even work but...
I'm an Evo 3D owner, girlfriend just got a LG Revolution. I noticed the stock email app seems to push email rather than pull every hour or whatever (correct me if I'm wrong, i don't get to play with hers). Anyway... I have been using Seven (beta push email) but they stopped support for android to develop for manufacturers and such. The biggest issue I'm having with it now is it sends international sms' to validate your account and there are some other bugs... I want to switch.
Could anyone pull and post the apk for the stock email app for me to try and see how it works? The Evo 3D's stock email doesn't push and the other apps i've tried on the market don't work how i'd like. And again, I don't get to play with my girlfriend's Revo so I can't get it from her.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] GingerHome problem (android.process.lghome)

First, I can't post in the GingerHome ROM post under the Revo Development forum. I guess maybe because I have less than 10 posts? The forum rules or something will not let me. That is why I posted this here.
After I installed this ROM from the zip through clockworkMod I rebooted and I get the following error:
The application Home (process android.process.lghome) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I can tap "Force Close" but it immediately keeps popping back up so it basically locks me out. I rebooted and restored back to stock, but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I know mtmichaelson is focused on GingerVolt ROM and it was nice, but it was too stripped down for me. I wanted to keep some of the stock apps like the weather widget and I liked getting the email and messages on the lock screen.
It is just me or my phone, or is it some coding in the ROM?
mtmichaelson, if you read this, keep up the good work!

Try redownloading and flashing the new download. The GingerHome is not a rom, it is just a add on for GingerVolt hence the reason nothing really changes in it. It is basically just the stock LG stuff to go on top of GV. Let me know how it works.

Ah ok. So I install GingerVolt, then I install this? This just adds onto the GV. I got it now. Yeah no wonder I was having problems. I just installed GingerHome over the stock ROM.
I am such a noob to all this. Of course this is my first Android phone though. (Came from BB). This phone is soooo much better.
While I am at it, what does it take to develop for this phone? I saw something about Kitchen sink(?) to develop ROMs but I guess it does not work with the Revo?

For this phone in particular a lot of time and patience lol. The Android kitchen only helps when dealing with the boot.img on this phone, but does require Linux to edit. Other than that there are several other tools out there depending on if you are wanting to modify smali code, or apps. If you are wanting to get into it, come to the irc sometime, there are several of us that hang out on there at night.

As a OO developer, SMALI makes me want to shoot myself in the head...
It's like editing ILDASM, only it seems less intuitive.
I flashed to GingerVolt 1.3 and then put on GingerHome. Everything seems to be working great. Now, when ever I hit the home button, I get a popup asking to complete this action with LG Home or ADW.Launcher. I like LG Home as the launch as the ADW one would disappear on me sometimes or I would would accidentally delete the apps launcher and have to add it back.
If I set the LG Home as default, is there a way to switch back to ADW if I want?
I think starting with an app would be better for development, but how much time does it involve? Also, how do I get into IRC? and what time is "at night?" I have a 13mo and I never know what time I might have to getup so I don't stay up late anymore.
Sweety my daughter is about to be 14 months on the 3rd ...for irc

You can make the LGhome as the default launcher, and if you want to reverse that, go to settings>applications>all>lghome click on LGhome and press the Reset Defaults button at the bottom.
Developing apps, go on youtube, and type android developing tutorials. Obviously it will not be easy from the start. It requires basic XML and java language knowledge which will take getting used to
