easier to put them on sd card in a folder named media/audio/notifications..........then you do not have to reload every rom change...........you can do the same for ringtones.

Ringer...

I'm new to the Wizard 8125 and i'm trying to figure out how to use ringers besides the ones that come on the phone. Can i upload songs or download of the internet?
any song. mp3 or wma
if you have a sd card . just tap and hold the mp3 or wma file song you want . and tap ( set as ringtone ) in the window
this will automatically add the song to your ringtones Folder in the main memory of your phone
good luck.
yes, but that only works for ringtones
not for notices such as incomming messages, or missed call notifications....etc
on a fluke however, i have a wav file (of homer simpson screaming woohoo) that DID end up in the menu for incomming messages notifications and such... so my question is, is there a certain criteria for custom soundfiles to work as something other than a ringtone?
anyone? anyone at all?
I use PhoneAlarm to do this. I am not sure how to do this through registry or know of a freeware app but I do know phoneAlarm does a very good job of this.
SoBBie
alerts
The way i do is copy the sound from you mc card use file explorer then go into windows on your phone scroll to the bottom of the folder then press with the styles then paste then it will be there when you set the alarm hope that helps
Ringers-alarms-n text,emails-ext
Yes the ringer 4 the cell does work on mem crd by tap hold n set as ringer as far as alarms n text n blah blah the have to b WAV files or u can copy n paste it under windows to the main phone mem. n that will work !!!
PERFECT
you just need to copy the file under the windows folder... thank you!

good slide sounds...

does anybody have 2 good sounding sounds (lol) that i could use for when i open and close my tilt?
3 keys on a piano up...and 3 keys down would be nice.
Here you go...
Install CAB and then just rename any two files EXACTLY as follows and drop them in the device/windows directory:
custom-in (Sound when you close keyboard)
custom-out (sound when you open keyboard)
There are two sets in the rar archive, viz. LS is Light Sabre as in Star Wars-This is the one I use. ST is Siege Tank as in Starcraft game. Both are cool.
Basically you can use any two wav files and rename them as mentioned.
ENJOY!!!

thanks for the cab....but does anybody have a simple piano sound?
here is a bunch i have collected sorry no cabs though there are sonic, mario, halo, startrekand scarface again i did not make these i just found them
where r they?
I'm on a AT&T Tilt and I don't see the windows directory when I browse my smartphone. Am I doing somethin wrong or do I need a special program to be loaded to reach windows????
if you're browsing via ActiveSync from your desktop computer, maybe you'll have to edit the folder-view to show system files (extras - folder options - view)
WICKED!!! This rocks!!!

Sorry, I don't have any piano wavs, but if you do a google for piano wav sounds you should find what you are looking for. That's what I did when I was looking for certain notification sounds.
Good luck!!!

So do I just drop the entire zip file into the Windows directory? I tried to drop unzip and put in the wav files themself, but they didn't show up in the keyboard sound drop down.

the sounds go in the windows directory then you need to opena reg editor and go hklm/software/htc/slidingsounds and edit the registry to either add to the existing sounds or editing the exisisting ones. to add more sounds you simply need to copy and paste one of the other folder and change the names and numbers to match your new sound for example to add a fourth sound you would need to pick the sound you want and make i 3_in.wav and 3_out.wav
you wil also need to go into the folder and edit the default to change the name. or if we are really luck someone will cab this up for us.for better instructions go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356400

You must first install the CAB file provided.
got it to work
works great took some time but it worked.
if your still lost i can try to help you out mind you i have the at&t tilt don't know if its different directory between phones...
Having problems
I have tried using the cab file and even manually edited the registry and it still doesn't show my slide sound in the drop down menu. it shows the windows original sounds but not the one I am trying to add. I have a htc s720 windows mobile 6 smartphone.

how would you go about taking the ringtones off a phone?
id take all the ones from the milestone to throw up here *there is ALOT of different ringtones on this phone for stock.*
Removing system Ringtones, etc.
Code:
adb remount
adb rm /system/media/audio/ringtones/*.*
Will remove all ringtones.
Code:
adb remount
adb rm /system/media/audio/notifications/*.*
Will remove all notifications.
Code:
adb remount
adb rm /system/media/audio/alarms/*.*
Will remove all alarm sound files.
Root Explorer is worth the couple of bucks on Market, especially for this kind of thing.
For chosing sound files on your SD card (notifications and ringtones) I use RingsExtended, which is available for free on the Android Market. If you prefer a directory structure instead of scrolling through a long list of file names, OI File Manager allows this. If you want to use the default ringtone picker and you have Apps2SD, put your files in:
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones/
or
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications/
or
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms/
depending on how you want to use them. (I hope that 's self-explanatory. If it's not, too bad. Figure it out. Not to be mean, but I know you can if you put some effort into it.)
Here's my list of Ringtones, etc There are about 440 in this zip.
http://www.mediafire.com/?mym2vmgyzri
1. I have named all the files shorter than 10 seconds with a prefix of "Alert-"
2. I have renamed all the files from 10 to 30 seconds with a prefix of "Ring-"
3. I have renamed all the files longer than 30 seconds with a prefix of "Alarm-" in hope that people will start waking themselves gently with a ramp up time on their alarm tones. (I may add some files that actually ramp up in volume for the cheapskates who won't spend a buck on a ramping alarm app. I may not. I know how tough it is to have to scrimp a dollar, but I also realize developers work their hineys off for peanuts. If you can support a developer, do, so that those who genuinely can't, like some independent developers, can still have access to decent free apps.)
Not all of the files with "Alert-" on them were intended to be notifications. Many of them were intended to be ringtones. My naming convention is determined by temporal length exclusively, except for a couple of 9-second files. Please feel free to use "Alert-" files as ringtones, as they genereally have a file size of less than 50kb and can be accessed quickly when your phone starts the incoming call process. I used the word "Alert" since it struck me as generic, but still helps define how long the sound file is.
I have converted these to ogg-vorbis format since the Xda-Developers' forum around reducing time before Android phones ring determined ogg was the fastest. I did it with the Windows app "Audacity." If you want to add effects, convert to and from a few widely-used formats, or otherwise manipulate sound files, I strongly recommend this free download: AUDACITY
Most of these are readily available online. A few of them I wrote. Some of them I downloaded and doctored up. My apologies to the authors/composers/developers if I butchered them. If you want credit, please, please alert me. The only reason I didn't give credit is that I didn't know where to put it. OK, yes, I have to apologize to HTC. They are just consistently good in the sound and graphics departments.
EDIT (15 Mar, Mon): I Edited the Metadata so it includes the prefixes. When you're using Rings Extended now, all of the alerts will be together, and all of the rings will be together. If it didn't have Metadata, I left it out so that it'll use the file name. Sorry about that.
Has anyone ever noticed how much alike the iPhone and Tmo stock rings are?
Here's a little something for anyone who wants. It's no *great* shakes, but I figure they can use all the help we can give them. I like these... in an office-appropriate way.
thanks man
has anyone got the facebook pop sound that they could post?

[APP] ElWPAudioBooks: How to listen to audiobooks on Windows Phone 7

So as I like to listen to audio books very much and as I bought WinPhone I decided to write this app.
It does a really simple thing - generates a podcast feed from a folder that you give to app (with audio book). Than you "subscribe" to this self-made "podcast",set to play it from the oldest one, sync all "episodes" with your phone and that's it.
If you have a windows phone 8.1+ device please follow to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...oks2-audio-t2922308/post56362244#post56362244
ElAudioBooks - my new app for listening to audio books.
[0.1]
First release
So there are 7 steps you need to do. They a really simple
I'll comment them a little:
At step 1 you need to select folder with files of audiobooks.
Typically you will have smth like
01.mp3
02.mp3
03.mp3
etc. in the correct folder.
At step 2
I try to get and sort all files of audiobook.
You can have 2 types of sorting for now:
like string: 1.mp3 10.mp3 2.mp3 20.mp3
like int: 1.mp3 2.mp3 10.mp3 20.mp3
It's for setting up the right playing order.
Hope you got it
Step 3 is the name of the book. The same name will be on your phone.
Step 4. Select a free port for your system and press Start button.
If it hadn't threw an exception it is a good sign
Step 5.
Now you have a feed url.
It should be smth like http://localhost:8888/feed.xml
Step 6. Add podcast to zune with this feed. Set it up to play the older episodes first and to sync ALL episodes with your phone.
Step 7. Actually sync your device and listen to your book
There's also video available on how to:
http://www.1800pocketpc.com/how-to-get-mp3-audiobooks-to-your-windows-phone-tutorial/23369/
[0.1.1]
@fixed a bug when file names contain spaces.
*minor changes with url handling
[0.1.2]
*now file names can be in unicode
[0.2.0]
*Remembers last opened folder
*Feed url now depends on book name
*Can set custom image for your book
*Log for what is happening
*Minor UI improvements
[0.2.1]
*Scans all subfolders for audio files in the selected folder (in case you have 4ex disk1, disk2, etc..)
*Tries to autofind albumart in the folder with audio book
@Fixed exception when trying to add another book without closing the app
*ability to add info about audiobook to overview section on the phone.
Thanks very much for this
Wonderful!
What about albumart? (I'm downloading right now)
For now it's just a pretty picture of audio book.
May be I'll implement custom pictures in future...
Can this work with protected file?
I don't have any of them, so I don't know....
Updated with new version!
This is awesome!! I have just spent a ton of time trying to find a long and complicated way of doing what your program does in minutes. This makes life so much easier.
Custom pictures would be great.
Thanks again,
Jonathan
Updated with new version.
Now with custom picture for a book.
Awesome
This is really awesome. Keep up the great work.
Very helpful - thanks much!
Feature request: it'd be great to add support for a directory hierarchy instead of a single folder. (This would be helpful for multi-disc audiobooks that are organized into subfolders like Disc1\, Disc2\, etc.)
I'd be glad to assist with coding if needed.

Accepted, I'll code it. Shouldn't be difficult
This is great!
Very nice piece of software!
Thanks a lot!
Thank you! This solves the problem of getting them to list in the correct order!
Now that they show in the correct order under podcasts, is there any way to get one podcast to go automatically to the next file in the series?
I have short segments (5 minutes each, on a 6 hour book) and it's driving me crazy to have to go back to the podcast directory every five minutes and start the next one.
Just hit the play button on the podcast itself (the small triangle on the upper right of the album art) - that will play the segments in the order that you've set in the podcast properties. (For an audiobook, set the playback order to "Oldest first.")
Yes, in Zune set up that podcast should be played from the last (oldest) episode!
Great software, thank you so much.
Thanks very much for the app. It solved the Audio Book problem for me. I do have a "feature request/noob question" though. Can you make the custom picture start looking from the folder I choose the book to be in and not the last folder?
Also not that it really matters but when I start on the next book I get the error:
system.net.httplistenerexception: The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request
at system.net.httplistener.getcontext()
at EIWPAudioBooks.FormCreateAudioBook.StartHttpServer(Object State)
I just close the app after each book so its not really a problem although I usally do a few books at a time.

Gemrb - BG / Planescape / Icewind dale on our Droid 3's. Install instructions!

Hello all! I wanted to share this because when I discovered it, I went nuts! Really? Some of the most amazing games of all time on our phones? (And my Transformer Tab).
One of the primary reasons I wanted to post this here is because with the fact that our Droids have a hardware keyboard, these games play exceptionally well compared to me playing them on my tablet, where the all touchscreen controls are a bit difficult to use.
So here's what you do:
1. Install gemRB from the android market. gemRB is an open source version of the infinity engine, the engine that baldurs gate \ planescape \ icewind dale uses.
2. Install one of the infinity engine games on your PC. For instance.. Baldurs gate 2 (which is the only game I have tried thus far).
3. Download the widescreen patch from http://www.gibberlings3.net/widescreen/ . Place the EXE in your Baldurs Gate 2 folder (or whatever infinity engine game), and run it. It now asks you if you want to patch for normal installation, or if you want to patch for a gemrb installation. Obviously we would choose gemrb.
4. Follow the screen prompts, and when it asks x resolution and y resolution, you have to make a decision. The phone's screen is 960x540... but if you compile the widescreen at this resolution, in my opinion, it makes things WAY too small to read. So I decided to use 800x480, which is also the same ratio as 960x540. This makes things a little bit bigger while still looking quite nice. (Note, if you are going to change resolution, you have to run the exe on your computer again, and recopy the ENTIRE BG2 directory onto your phone. So it's kind of a pain in the ass to change rez).
5. gemrb creates a folder /sdcard/app-data/net.sourceforge.gemrb/ . This is where you're going to copy and paste the innards of your BG2 directory folder. don't post just the folder, it has to be the files INSIDE the directory. So for instance, in my net.sourceforge.gemrb folder, I have a cache folder, cd2-5, characters data, etc. Not just a "BG2 - SOA" folder.
6. A file in the net.sourceforge.gemrb folder is called GemRB.cfg.sample. Open this up with a text editor and make sure everything looks good. Change the resolution in the text file to 800x480 or whatever you choose to run it at. afterwards, you MUST rename the file to just GemRB.cfg ... delete the "sample" part in the name.
7. Run that **** and configure! Mine worked perfectly. The best part about our droids is that we can map all buttons to our physical keyboard. So I really only use the touchscreen to move the cursor around... my left click is LALT, right click is the OK button, pause is spacebar, etc. This makes the game just a DELIGHT to play on our phones.
It really runs and works remarkably well. I highly suggest trying this out if you're a fan of these amazing games!
Nice post!! I have something similar to this for Warcraft II, and the addon, Tides of Darkness.
Have an idea of what sort of framerate your getting? Finally have some free time and I'll try it out. Thanks for the heads up
Game runs flawlessly on my d3. Zero frame issues, so probably 30fps

I can't say for sure, but I'd imagine BG, BG2, Planescape Torment, IWD, IWD2 all work
Nice, Baldurs Gate is a little too hard for me. But Icewind Dale should be easier I hope.
I've tried planescape, i get a blue screen when i start a new game or from my old save, not a blue screen of death mind you, just blue.
The bottom bar appears ok once in and the main menu, but then get into the game and it's all blue.

I'll have to check out planescape sometime soon and let you know if it works or not. Like I said, I've only done baldurs gate. I wonder if you're missing a setting somewhere..... did you try the widescreen patch?
Hey Mate yeah did the widescreen patch, fits screen nicely, does crash every now and again when loading the game up with gemrb but once in the menu works and the game looks fullscreen.
I only had one stab at it tho it's pretty easy to setup, i might have a corrupt file or something, the cd's are pretty old.
-smc
Edit:
looks like it's simply not too compatible yet with PST:
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/planescape_torment/gemrb_and_planescape
Anyone else run this with games from GOG.com? I followed instructions multiple times, PST and BG2, it always showed me a blue screen then crahsed after the game started.
EDIT:
Got it! For games from gog you have to point all cd's to ./data

Thanx Camspanners that worked for me also, i'm guessing every game will need the cd folders changed like this to work.
Not sure what resolution to play the game in yet, i think the original 640x480 would better suit.

I'm pretty sure if you look on their website, Throne of Bhaal uses a slightly different engine, so you need to use different files to replace the stock windows ones. I know they have them on the Gemrb site, but I don't think it's a finished product and there are still some bugs left in TOB.

Thank you for the good instructions but what does a "good" GemRB.cfg file look like?
I have some confusion at this point (not my gemrb.cfg file, but a sample taken from another website)
#####################################################

CD4=/media/mmc1/games/BGII - SoA/CD4/
CD5=/media/mmc1/games/BGII - SoA/CD5/
The default gemrb.cfg file seems to want you to include the CD information, so does this mean, as according to the instructions for the app you copy ALL the files in the BG install folder, and ALSO the contents of each CD into its own folder within the droid file system? Which is fine, but I'm unclear if that is the steps I need to take. Thanks!
I have Baldurs Gate 2 GOG version ( 1 install exe, 2 Bin file).
Installed to pc,followed install note but not workin on my phone.
Create character, start and i got blue scrren and crash....
Any solution?
BG1 works fine.....
