Flash CWM - LG Thrill 4G

I have seen quite a few people asking if we can flash the optimus 3d recovery and also people asking how, to here are the instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929628
I am pushing my luck with the AT&T store already being on my 3rd thrill,
the recovery file can be found at
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-p920.img
This could brick your phone don't try unless you understand the risk.

Did you try on your phone?

CWM
No I havent yet, not sure why it wouldn't work the phones are the same other than the radio to my understanding.
hoping maybe there is someone braver than me. If not maybe I'll do it tomorrow.

What is the benefit of doing this? Enabling the built-in tethering?

CWM
This would alow us a to get a little closer to custom roms.

How are you on your third phone?
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App

first one monday morning I woke up and it wouldn't turn on nothing, second one I tried the tweaks that are listed for the optimus 3d rather than wait for a fix I finished it and took it back in and told them it was the same thing. kinda scared to do much to this one.

Haha I made a custom Framework-res.apk for my phone... All I did was change the colors of some things.... But im afraid to try it with everybody bricking their devices... Haha. And we dont have CWM to recover if it does put me in boot loop... If anyone else wants to give it a whirl you can find it under the development forum for our device...

Well I tried the adb method and got permission denied, maybe someone with a little more experience can figure it out.

how did you get into ADB with your thrill...? ive been trying for like an hour now...

are you running the lattest version of sdk and they have moved adb into a different folder.
made some progress found out that LG left out the flash_image in the system/bin. might have to pull this out of the optimus 3D if anyone has access to this if you would post it and I will try it again.
I might be making a fool of myself for trying this but hey got to learn some how.

Nobody with an optimus 3d has it either.... I posted the request over on the optimus forum and novody could find it.....
Sent from my LG Thrill 4G

Here is a question as well so the radio on this phone is the only difference between this and the Optimus right? If that's so once we figure out how to get CWM on our phones wouldn't making a custom Rom be as Simple as taking an Optimus Rom pulling the Radio and putting the Radio from this Phone were the other one went? Just wondering. Regardless though need CWM first. I would do it but can't afford the brick.

ADB is working fine for me. I have a shell up now. Haven't tried to push CWM yet though im still preoccupied with deodexing, zipaligning, and deleting ATT's BS

Flashed recovery but it's not working
I flashed the recovery using adb, but I can't enter recovery mode. I'm pressing the vol down, 3d and power buttons until the LG screen appears. The phone just boots normally.

how did you get it to flash please give step by step method

Root
Download Gingerbreak 1.2 APK via XDA app via your phone and run it. Root done!

Webtop over HDMI
Download zip in post below... rename old files (odex and apks in system/app) to .bak and copy new files there using root explorer. Phone will loop on force close when you rename portal.apk but just take battery out and power it back on.

So you confirm there is no way to get gingerbread on Orange Atrix for now?
I would add that CWM and gingerblur / greyblur are working for me using this:
http://briefmobile.com/atrix-4g-rom-installation-guide
Guys a little help needed please.
I have a Orange UK Atix and was on the stock rom and installed Gingerblur through Tenfars CW Mod, the problem being when it had installed and I rebooted from CWM my phone is stuck in a boot loop ( the phone wont go past the moto boot logo and has the LED notification light flashing red ).
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
All help is greatly appreciated.

No I can't confirm that but I'm not going to be the first to try!

Gingerblur is for the Atrix 4g isn't it? Is that not slightly different hardware? Ie you've probably bricked your phone. Although guy above said he flashed it so best pm him or try a reflash and wipe.
Personally I don't see the point in risking a flash for the same os with a gingerbread theme. Theres not going to be any advantage. I only put the other hacks as they are relatively risk free and you can unroot or remove the patched webtop etc if you have any issues.

Goto the stock android recovery and do a data wipe/factory reset after that take both your SD & SIM out and power it back on, you can put back the SIM & SD after its working.

yep this should fix it, but using gingerblur over orange rom is a bad idea, different framework files etc. it should work but i wouldnt recommend it, google UOT kitchen and you can make your own gingerbread theme for the orange rom as long as your rooted
How do I go to the stock android recovery?
hold vol down while turning on, then keep pressing it until it says android recovery then press vol up, then when it shows an android logo you have to tap the bottom right corner of screen a few times to get options to show up
Works great on t-mobile stock.

Can I ask one more favour.... Has anyone made a gingerbread theme with UOT Kitchen? If so is it possible I could get a copy of it please.

Is bootloop fix possible

sounds like if this would work or be possible that this would definitely go in the DEV section because it would help fix our bootlooping phones when they happen and it will happen to some if not many before an sbf or cwm is available. if i am wrong please move to proper place. Sorry
NO i am not bootlooping yet but was wondering if anyone was (stuck on a bootloop) maybe they could try this method below and confirm that this BP tools when boot looping does or does not work for bionic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236465
I have tried it in every mode recovery fastboot sfb bp only bp****** and BP tools
and none of them apparently let me have adb access but as soon as i reboot and go back into the phone normally i have adb again
I am sure that most of you would see the potential to get this working so we can correct mistakes when we make them and it would make modding the system a lot easier considering we could correct it if it bootlooped on us.
Please MODs with experience does this have any merit as being possible on the bionic
Thanks
Ive been bootlooping every time i reboot im tired of wiping mu phone and reseting everything.

I have a bionic which I replaced my app folder with a non full system app dump and because of this my phone is now bootlooping. Do we have a fix for this yet?
For those that have a boot loop bionic please try the steps in the thread in first post and see if it works for you and let me know
If this can fix a bootloop then we can do a lot more changing to our phones without being afraid of it screwing something up.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I am stuck in a bootloop right now and can try this out. I haven't used adb before or the terminal but am familiar with how it works.
Which directory must I navigate to in the terminal before spewing those commands listed in the link in the thread of the OP?
I may be completely off here but if I understand bootloop correctly(the device goes to the droid screen, then the eye, then back to droid, then eye, repeat)I've ran into bootloop twice if that's what it is. The one thing that got me through this was actually to pull the battery, hold both volume buttons then power to get into the Boot Mode Selection Menu and select the first option which I believe is Normal Boot. This worked both times to go from looping on those two screens to a perfect boot. Have no idea if this will help but thought I would throw it out there.
If you're bootlooping, SBF (or FTZ? now) - problem solved. You will never find an app or whatever you are looking for that will prevent a bootloop. We root our phones and play with system files, replace frameworks, etc. That comes with the territory. If you want to avoid bootloops - don't root and stay stock.
And post questions in general. Questions do not belong in development. You just (and consequently myself) bumped an actual development thread down.

I don't mind hitting obstacles like bootloops, its how I learn. As long as I can flash Stock FTZ were good. I'll be doing that shortly. Thank you.

No access to bootlader; CWM only on ICS

So, to avoid bricking my device I relocked the bootloader, used the stock RUU file and upgraded to ICS.
Worked as a charm.
Installed a custom ROM, worked fine.
Installed another one, was great.
And then I changed to Dark Raider (link) and after installation completes my device goes black entirely. I can access CWM Recovery and everything but not the bootloader menu or anything else.
No matter what other ROM I try to flash, it doesnt work, and I can't get RUU going because I can't access flashboot.
Any ideas?
Which kernel did you flash? Did you do any other steps before or after installing the last ROM like factory reset, etc. Just trying to brainstorm some ideas.

I flashed the boot.img as usual that comes with the ROM, then did all the wiping they say we should on the main thread, then flashed the ROM.
What is really weird is that this is something I've done countless times before and never had any trouble. Even on ICS.
Oh and the device is still recognised by the computer, although not by the RUU file itself.
CWM Recovery works just fine but nothing else.
How are you getting to cwm? Normally you only access it through hboot. Are you doing the button combo?

When I plug it in via USB, it automatically turns the phone on into CWM.
It's just like when they had that bug on CWM Recovery that wouldn't let us charge our phones when they were off without automatically going into Recovery.
I just want a way to make the RUU file recognise the phone so I can go back to stock. Anyone?

What exactly is that developer menu?
Because I've been everywhere in Recovery and can't seem to find Reboot into Bootloader. I find Reboot Recovery alright, into the Advanced options, and several ++GO BACK++s that leads me to nowhere. I keep pressing it while on the main screen of Recovery and it just blinks the screen and that's all.

By plugging in my phone into the computer via USB. It automatically goes into CWM Recovery.
I always try to follow the most up-to-date topics but rooting HTC Vivid on ICS was a bit weird and I used a tool I randomly came across with and had never used before, some SuperToolv3 or whatever it's called.
I was trying to flash the stoc AT&T ROM via .zip but apparently I can't access my external sd card via CWM due to the sweet fact that apparently iGo created a ext_sd folder by itself, and when I try to access the external sd card it goes into iGo's useless folder.
Grand.
I can't just return my phone to HTC since I bought this phone from a friend and over here it's not sold, and I'm not going to US or anywhere soon so I'm screwed.

Unplug it from the USB. Pull your battery out put it back in. Then with it still unplugged from USB press and hold the volume down button while simultaneously holding down the power button. Keep holding them both down for a couple seconds then hboot should load up.

Yes, I do know how to get into hboot.
I press both buttons and nothing happens.
The RUU file was the 1st thing i tried, but it doesn't recognise the phone since it's not on the mode it should be for using the RUU.
Grrrr. And I'm not even in a country where this phone is sold so I really can't see how I'll get this fixed.
Well, I'm not THAT noob. I know how to do most things. I've played around with this phone for a few months now and never had a problem with it.
I flashed the kernel properly and then I flashed the Dark Raider ROM the way I always do. Do you think is there any possibility that this was caused by Dark Raider?
I couldn't've done anything wrong. I never did. I wouldn't wait months of practice to finally screw anything up now.

And it's funny 'cause a guy in the other topic (I kinda think it's the ROM's fault so I posted there as well, maybe the dev has any clue) told me I should plug the phone in and try to get into hboot.
Well, I tried just for the hell of it and obviously didn't work.
Every time I plug the phone in either to a charger or a computer I'm taken straight to CWM Recovery. Like that old bug it had that we couldn't charge the phone off without going into Recovery.
I left it in Recovery but I'm not sure if it's charging, the battery wasn't that low but after all this time it probably is now, so it doesn't hurt to leave it there.
But, like, if this was a complete brick I wouldn't even be getting into Recovery, right? And the computer wouldn't be recognising it.
Isn't there a way to access the internal memory of the phone through the computer? I'd like to try one last thing but iGo created a ext_sd folder inside the phone and now when I try to access the REAL external SD i'm taken to the iGo folder.
And I only saw that now.
Or maybe a way to make the phone recognisable by the RUU .exe file?
Apparently a series of unfortunate things led me to this.

[Q] Sprint Flex stuck on Fastboot.

HI ALL,
I have successfully rooted my HTC and Samsung devices before but I am very new to LG phones.
I did root with ioroot22 (worked perfectly).
Then I attempted to install CWM with flashify app.
But in the process I flashed CWM incorrectly (I think)
When I boot phone I am just stuck in fastboot black screen.
Am I screwed? Seems like Sprint TOT or KDZ files are not available yet.
Anyone know what I can do to get phone working again. Any help is very much appreciated
Please note I can get into CWM when I press - & power but can't really do anything beyond that.

Regardless, i was able to bring life back into my phone with the help of a member name, wolfgart. He was able to somehow provide me both the .tot & .dll for my sprint variant.

[Q] LG G Flex D958 Recovery

Hello,
Does anyone have a clue on how we can Install a custom recovery on the G Flex D958? I've tried several solutions like Flashify and manually running commands through Terminal Emulator and once it supposed to be installed, it restart and then jump right into the launcher, and it's impossible to access to the recovery, assuming the recovery was actually never installed.
The Flex doesn't have a custom recovery yet. I would be careful on messing with your phone without it.

Where are all the LG Developers? No love for the Flex? Its a powerful device that screams feed me! I want some custom ROMs.
Theres plenty of lg dev working on it. Its just with the bootloader being locked down better than ever we are having a little trouble finding a hack or work around. Ive got an apk that will install cwm. Ive posted pics and used it. It works. I actually had to use the backup I made ,as soon as I got into cwm, today to restore due to my home button quit responding. Why? I dont know that yet but it restored perfect. Cache and dalvik wipe fine. Only issue is you can't boot to cwm from power off position. Must use apk. So its kinda pointless unless you can boot safe mode. Like I did today. We havent posted the apk or intstructions due to not finished yet and it deletes your factory recovery. So youre f*$&#d if you brick due to no factory recovery. And we dont want peep rushing in and installing then boom theyre dead and hoise burns down.
