[GUIDE] Link2sd setup and installation - Droid Incredible Android Development

I can no longer support this thread. I apologize I will leave it here for people that may find it helpful.
Hey guys I have read several posts were people are having issues with some Roms with sense 3.0,etc.
This guide should help those experiencing the following issues:
1) Have apps on your sd card and icons for those apps on one of your home screens but when you reboot your phone the icons disappear or change to the green standard app icon. icon may or may not still open the app.
2) Mount SD card to a PC while the phone is on. After disconnecting it, the phone shows a message on the screen for preparing SD and afterward, the SD card can be browsed. However, apps that have been moved to SD do not show up in the app tray until the phone is restarted.
Important before doing any of this please note this process can render your SD card useless if you make a mistake. Please follow all steps completely and know that I am not responsible if you mess up your sd card
This process is done from your pc not phone! Things you will need:
1) your Incredible
2) Your micro SD card
3) A micro SD to SD card adapter - this if your dont know=

4) computer im using windows xp
Here is what you should try:
1) Download Link2sd from the android market. Don't open it just yet your phone is not ready.
2) From your pc download Minitool partition wizard for your appropriate system. Install the wizard by following the instructions that appear when you download it. At the end it will ask to create a desktop icon check yes so you can find it easy.
3)Turn off your incredible and remove the micro SD card and place it in the adapter. Plug it into your PC.
4) create a new folder on your desktop and name it "sdbackup" or whatever you would like just remember were it is. Copy the entire contents of your micro sd card to the sdbackup folder you just created. This may take a while depending on the amount of files you have.
5) after backing up your sd card. Open the minitool partition wizard. You should see your sd card. Caution do not do anything with your c drive or any other drives listed under disk 1 Mine is under disk 2 labeled D:E1292
6) click on your sd card. In the left pane of the wizard choose format partition. choose FAT32 as your file system and leave cluster size and label blank. click ok.
7) click your sd card. In the left pane again of the wizard choose move/resize partition. On the window that pops up click partition size. uncheck the use extended data protection mode. type in the amount of megabytes or gigabytes you want your sd card regular storage area to be. In this guide im using a 1gb sd card. I typed in 700 to create a 700 mb regular area. Leave all other boxes alone. So if you have say an 8gb card i would type 7000 to give you roughly 7gb main. click ok. you should now see your main sd card and another one below it now with a *as its name.
first
second
third new partition created
8) ok almost there: Now on the new unallocated partition we just created ( one with the star as its name) click on it. At the top of the wizard click create. You will get a message saying the new created partition cannot be used in windows...... just click yes to continue. In the window that pops up pay attention click create as and select primary! click file system and select Ext3! Leave all other boxes etc alone. You will see the partition size that will be created. click ok.
message you will get:
Creating the partition:
9) Ok here we go.... In the top left of the wizard you should see a check mark that says apply..... Click it! You will get a message saying apply pending changes, disable power savers etc... click yes to continue.. do not let screen saver come on after this and do not allow computer to "sleep". Let the wizard do its thing. This can take some time depending on your system, sizes, etc. You get a dialog box to let you know whats going on. When the wizard finishes you will get a message saying apply all pending changes successful. Click ok...
You can exit the wizard now.
The wizard dialog box when you click the check mark..
10) place all your files back on your sd card. Find the folder you created with your sd backup in it. Select all files and copy them back to your sd card. Dont worry about the second partition as windows will only see the first FAT32 one.
Thats the partition link2sd needs now to set up link2sd:
1) place your SD card back in your incredible and reboot.
2) find your link2sd app you downloaded and open it. The program will load. A box will appear that instructs you to select the file system type of your second partition. Select Ext3!
3) Link2sd will do a few things and ask for superuser permissions.. When this box pops up click remember on superuser permissions!
4) Link2sd will tell you the scipt to mount the second partition was flashed (installed),etc.
5) it will then tell you to restart your phone to mount the second partition. Just do a normal reboot!
6) once the phone has rebooted go back and open link2sd again. You should get a whats new box with the changes to link2sd.
7) to check just to make sure it worked click menu/storage info it should look something like this.
Now you can use link2sd!
Enjoy please say thanks if I helped. I will try to answer any questions you have. This may be possible to do while the sd card is in the phone with it attached to computer but I did not chance this so wont be able to help in that area.

Yay!

Your welcome just trying to do my part lol.

Not to be thick, but I believe I have run Partition Magic on other drives (for other than Android use). Can't you repartition the card on the fly (using the PC) without a complete reformat?

May be possible with this wizard. Skip the format step and everything else should go normal. One would start from the move/resise step. After editing what you want I however can't recall if this particular widget will format both when you apply changes. I'll look into it when I get some free time.
I put the backup and format step in just to make sure things go smooth. It should work without that first format tho...

Lost \emmc mount to PC
Eraste -
I found your guide tremendously helpful and was able to set up the ext3 partition without a problem.
Thing is, I cannot mount \emmc to PC, and I used to be able to.
I didn't lose it after doing this; I lost it on a prior ROM (Nils Business Gingersense 2.1/3.0 v3.0) after flashing a new kernel. After that, nothing I did, old nandroids, reflashing, restored it.
Now I'm on McSense 2.4 which is fairly close to stock OTA Gingerbread for the Incredible, and I have Links2SD running fine, and I have SD card mount, but I still don't seem to be able to get emmc to mount.
Any suggestions?
EDIT - Okay, it's 19 days later, I've wiped the system several times, installed two other ROM's ran Jermaine's/Tiny's ext4 mod which moves \data\data to ext4 and just plugged my Incredible back into the PC for the first time on this particular combination of ROM's and mods and, lookit that, mount to emmc has spontaneously returned. I'll never figure this one out. (Except that ext3 is still there, but Link2SD doesn't have anything linked at all right now, because I don't need the space without a 150mb limitation on \data\data on a Sense 1.0 ROM.

Help Me!!
have no idea how to stop memory back and was doing all the procedure like this in the tutorial and it does not work says that the installation script can not be created, could help me?

try the "ext2" format option.. as all devices are compatible with it
hope that helps!!

you should decrease the size of the 2nd part because file store in there is so little, the main is half full

now that i have 2nd partition and link2sd, where should i start? i mean where should my app stored before creating link? and there are 3 files to be link, wich to be link?

thankss bro this very usefull ......nice:highfive:

Thanks for the guide, although i have trouble installing. Once I open link2sd (ext3 partition created n all) i select ext3 as secondary partition and i get "script cannot be installed" error, mount:mounting/dev//block/vold/179:2 on data/sdext2 failed: Device or resource busy
Any suggestions please?
Edit:solved by wiping and reformatting ext partition on pc

is there a way to manually do what link2sd does
like via shell

BM first.. will try it later after i buy 16GB SD.. thanks

Big thanks!! wonderful guide!

Hope This Helps
Nice work
*IF* your phone can be mounted in windows as a fixed (non-removable) drive, you can partition it within windows. My custom ROM gives me the option to mount as a non-removable device. You don't have to format as ext2, the installer did that for me, you just have to create two RAW 256MB partitions.
That said, this method is a lot easier, I just couldn't do it with my netbook!
Didnt know that you could jsut create 2 partitions of RAW unallocated partitions without formatting and the installer will do it for you.
You could still do it on a netbook if you download Paragon Partition Manager.
That is a windows program, so if you dont have a dvd drive you could use Paragon.
Also you could get a flash drive and make that flash drive bootable with Gparted.
nice video, very professional. Partitioned my 2gb card with Gpart and it couldn't have been easier, thanks
now for your next video could you show how to make a USB connection with the android vogue to win 7?

Lol thanks man.
Funny thing is i havent been able to get a USB Connection with windows 7... (cause i havent looked too much into it)
Ill try to find some time this weekend and figure it out.
And i hope i can fulfill your video tutorial request
Could you post some text instructions on the .conf file?
I have some questions regarding the performance factors of the different settings, like using compcache with a hero build. Is the backing swap for compcache using the 2nd ext2 partition? What are the options you need to enable to use that 2nd partition as swap? That's all I'm curious about, but feel free to expand.

thanks, no hurry tho it's been mostly laziness on my part, I've read through the forums took lots of notes I just need to get it done
But the USB connection imo is the hardest part of switching to android on the vogue, at least so far.
I think i'll try out jamezelle's SenseTATTOO 1.0 that will give me the motivation to get it working.
Ha Ha Ooops
so i was up late last night so i figured i'd finally get around to partitioning my sd card for android and saw this post and figured cool. It was a great tutorial and if i had been a little more alert i would have probably paid attention more. I ended up wiping the hardrive of my computer totally unaware of what my stupid headwas doing. So it marked the end of my procrastination of upgrading to win 7. After i got everything back up and running I finally paid attention and was able to partition my card. thank you for the time and effort you put into this video. it was info i couldn't find with what little time i had. I just thought i'd let you know. that if your stupid like me maybe gparted is dangerous for you
thx for the vid.
Mac users: just use disk utility, pretty straight forward. back up your microsd first though, it wipes it.

Dang i feel sorry for you. Lost data is the worst feeling ever.
Im guessing you may have missed the step to choose your sd card.
Im glad your back up and running (ESPECIALLY WINDOWS 7 YEAH!!!!!!!!!)
When I load my burned G-parted live disc the autoplay screen pops up and asks me how I want to view pictures? I'm running win7 and burned the disk image using power2go.

I think you're "loading gparted while in windows 7".....Rather than bootin from Gparted.
You have to get your computer to boot from the cd.....
so you have to restart your computer with gparted in the drive.
Side Note:
Normally when you turn on ur computer, the computer boots from your hard drive. Your hard drive has windows on it; and therefore boots windows.
You want to have your computer boot from Gparted (off the cd) and not boot from your hard drive (Windows 7)
Solution:
You have to Restart your computer
Hopefully Gparted Gets loaded
If it doesnt its because the BIOS on your computer set Boot Priorities to Boot From the CD. This should definately work (100% sure).
lol ok thanks...I'll try soon.
And how do we "use" the multiple partition system?
Does it need a new data.img file?
Thanks!
it's for running android from a sd card, the installer will move files to the ext2 partitions for faster access and better performance
Well, the question was "how to", not "what it does"
But nevermind, found it!
i did everything with paragon..when i put my sd card on my kaiser tilt it wats to format..and then when i put it back in my computer it wants to format again.
I am using an micro sd adapter and paragon partition..
do i neccarly have to use EXT2? or can i just run it off formated fat 32

Yes you need it to be Ext2. Ext2 is something recognizable in linux.
Android recognizes this too and I believe it needs the Ext2. I think if you were to create 3 partitions of Fat32 it would not help the performance.
Android usually copies the files over to the Ext2 Partitions, and if it doesnt detect an Ext2, it wont copy any files anywhere; thus the performance isnt as great.
I had this problem when i was trying to format my sd card for the first time.
Everytime i would plug my sd card back into my phone my phone wanted to format it.
I figured out that i did the partitions wrong. I re did it (the method shown in the video) and i was able to plug it (the sd card) back into my phone with no error message.
So what im basically saying is you may have done it wrong.
I wish i could remember what i did wrong so i can help you correct it and do it right but it was a while ago i dont remember in great detail. All i know is when i tried it again (the correct way) it worked perfectly.
Here is a screenshot of what your card should look like. (may differ slightly in paragon's partition manager)
ok i have successfully made 2 ext2 partitions at the right size.
What all can i do with this?
Can i now install apps to my sd card?
What is the process of doing this?
Also, i can no longer get my sd card to show up on my computer with automount or sd split widget
Im running Myns rls4 on nand.

[Link2SD][SWAP] How to prep your SD card for it for Nameless ROM

What does this do?
make 3 partitions on SDCARD
-FAT32 > Primary Storage
-EXT4 > Secondary Storage Internal memory dummy
-Linux Swap > Extra RAM
Do I need to Backup my SDCARD contents?
Not needed, but if you want you can, it doesn't erase your sdcard data unless you did something wrong.
1/ Boot up your Windows machine
2/ Unmount your sdcard card on phone eject it and Insert your Micro SD card into a card reader and attach it to the computer
3/ Install Mini Partition Wizard Home Edition
4/ Run Partition Wizard Home Edition.
5/ Look for your SD card along the bottom and identify your FAT32 Partition
6/ Right click on it and choose "Move/Resize Partition"
7/ Use the down arrow in the middle field "Partition Size:" to change the value and consequently the value of the "Free Space After: field as well until you have created around 2307 MB of free space. *Warning - Do not create free space before the first primary FAT32 partition!!! If you do discard changes and start over!
8/ Click "OK"
9/ Identify the new unallocated space on the drive map.
10/ Right click on it and choose "Create"
11/ When you get the warning about the partition not being able to be used in Windows click "Yes" to continue
12/ Choose Ext4 for partition type. Primary, Resize to 2000 MB
13/Right click on empty 300 MB left Create Linux swap partition, Primary
14/ Make sure it is all primary not a logical partition
15/ Name it if you want.
16/ Click "OK" to continue
17/ Click the BIG "Apply" button in the top left of the window
18/ Choose "Yes" to continue from the pop up
19/ Let it do it's work.
Congratulations! Step 1 Complete!
Now to step 2:
1/ Eject and place your SD card back into your phone
2/ Install Link2SD from the Android Market
3/ Run it
4/ On first run it will ask you the type of partition your second SD card partition is. Choose Ext4 depending on which you made it.
5/ Follow the directions to reboot your phone
Congratulations! Link2SD is now working on your phone!
1.choose the funnel and choose User
2.choose multi select and select apps to to be moved to sd-ext and choose actions then create link choose all 3 checkbox
At this point I recommend you Menu click and go to Settings and choose "Autolink" to automatically link programs (.APK), dalvik cache files (.DEX) and library files (libs) to your SD Card 2'nd partition when a new program is installed.
Now for some strategy!
You say, "I've got all this external space! Why bother putting any programs on the internal space?"
Well...SPEED MAN! SPEED!
I keep Launchers, Widgets, Background processes like Titanium Backup, etc, on the internal as space allows to allow for speed when booting. The internal memory is faster than your SD card and keeping these programs here helps a lot in speeding up your boot time. This is an option with Link2SD that you DON'T have with Data2SD or Data2Whatever!
You can also keep commonly accessed programs like Tapatalk for example, on this internal fast memory.
You can also mass move by multi selecting, several programs to and from either internal, SD card, or SD card second partition. Ideal for your initial move to your new second partition of your apps pre-installed prior to link2sd.
People wanted instructions for a third swap download 81swap.rar in attachment extract 81swap script and push to /system/etc/init.d/ folder, during boot it would mount sdcard swap.
in cmd.
adb remount
adb push 81swap /system/etc/init.d/
adb shell chmod 777 /system/ect/init.d/81swap
reboot phone
to check if it mounted in terminal emulator type
su
free
see swap if it changed size to 400.
WARNING: From now on your SDCARD should not be Unmounted or ejected when phone is on.
Only eject SDCARD if phone is off.
Otherwise some problems might occur.

FAQ:
Why when I created linked apps why does my Internal Memory Storage still low
A: After linking your apps to EXT4, reboot phone to see if Internal Storage increased.
Why my internal memory is still 700+ mb
A: link2sd ext4 partition is like a drawer so instead of 1 drawer you have 2, transfering stuff to your second drawer.
How can I check memory info?
A: In link2sd app hold recent apps button then choose storage info.
How does link2sd work?
It creates a link shortcut like in windows in internal memory and transfer the main apps files in sd-ext.
Can I connect my phone to usb storage mode?
Sure you can sd-ext partition won't be unmounted only your fat32 partition will be so computer will read contents of sdcard.
Stoshke says:
If you connect HTC desire C in USB mode on computer running linux OS, you can mount ext partition on your PC using Device Notifier, but this way you will dismount it from the phone. So be careful if you have automount enabled.
Questions
Hi einstein.frat ,are you running all this on your phone atm?
I ask because I've been waiting for my new sd card to arrive(it has) and have been looking and trialling this Mod over the last few days or so and I've met a few problems and irregularities .
I was going to PM you originally but I thought asking you in the thread might actually prove useful to others as well as myself .
I've read 3 other threads on this subject , the first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459 is referred to you in this thread.
The second http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326 is the thread about the app we are using to link to our ext partitions.
Now first question ;
Are the partition sizes you quote , the sizes you used as to me (and reading the other thread) they seem small . I wonder if you have typed KB instead of MB ?
Second question is about the swap file , the thread I referenced is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659231
The Author basically goes through all the same procedures as everyone else but he uses an app instead of your script to manage the swapfile .
Now I agree with your thoughts here(i assume you wrote the script for this reason) that your script is a more elegant way of implementing the swap file at boot up .
But I think your line ;
adb shell chmod 777 /system/ect/init.d/81swap
should actually read;
adb shell chmod 777/system/etc/init.d/81swap
Just 2 very small differences
Anyway I have done it all and got it working on my new sd card so thankyou very much .:good:
Now my last tip? I guess I could call it that , is to do with checking if swap is working . Going back to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659231
The Author points out that if you run 'free' in terminal emulator if you have failed it will look like this (swap is all zeros)

Guys, what do you think, when doing this, is there any real phone performance difference between Class4 and Class10 SD cards, other then usb transfer speed?

I only got mine yesterday (a UHS-1 class 10) to move up from a class 4 , but it's way too soon to say whether there is a noticeable improvement (especially as I've implemented this mod)
.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947560 This is a good thread to read especially where he finds a good class 4 is better than a poor class 10 . Have a read it's worth the time :good:

Your chmod is wrong that is directory 777/ which doesnt exists right way is 777(space)/ chmod is attrib in windows like making it read only, hidden or write protect. 777 means read, write, executable to the file in all groups. If this it not set it won't run.
2000 = 2gb
300 = 300mb
Swap script is to enable linux swap partition on sdcard, nothing else.

Yup I realise what the script is for and my taking the space out of 777 / explains why the script hasn't stuck ( I think?)Just realised I erased the script myself last night as I decided to do a fresh install of your Rom and added a fresh init.d folder when I was doing all the bits with the Aroma installer after ...Doh

If so, I would your permission I use your guide as a template for mine get in the S3 mini section, or not? Thanks for your answer and I wish you all the best for the new year, more!

sorry for my double post but ...
Hi einstein., Link2SD works very good and fine but I have problems with the swap script. My sdcard is mmcblk0 and I have mmcblk1, these are split on again in mmcblk1p1, mmcblk1p2, mmcblk1p3. What is the partition for swap? I've tried several but none worked. The value in the terminal emulator is 0 for swap. At the moment I do not go on, unfortunately ... Or can I see in a file where is the partition for swap in my device? Or do I need to swap a unsecured boot.img with swap support? I have enabled the init.d for stock rom and secured kernel but all scripts in the init.d and Link2SD works very good and fine. Thanks for your help.

Maybe your kernel doesn't support swap if you tried all 3 partitions.
Desire c kernel config have it enabled by default.
Will add this to index thread soon.

Hi einstein., thanks for your answer. I'll try again now. So one of these mmcblk1p1, mmcblk1p2, mmcblk1p3 partitions be destined for swap, I understand this correctly? Thanks for your mods and roms. Link2SD works perfectly. Can something happen when I test a another partition in the script specified and this is not be used for swap? Thanks for your help but sorry for my english ...
Regards leather.face
Edit:
@einstein., thanks for your help but my question has been settled. The stock kernel in the S3 mini supports no swap. I tested all the partitions but not working. Link2SD works perfectly. Thanks einstein. and have a nice evening.
Regards
Just in case anyone is thinking of adding this mod to their desire c my opinion is that It's worth it.
Performance when switching between apps is much better. I've tried most of the tweaks I can find, and this single change has made the most difference.
Boot time is significantly longer and I suppose you run the risk of wearing out your SD card sooner but its still worth it.
Thanks for the detailed instructions.
When using the latest version of nameless the swap will setup automatically ( you still need to create the partitions before flashing the Rom)

einstein, if I delete the symlink of an app, it goes back to the internal storage, right?
and an other thing: after doing the swap, my recent apps button goes straight into 2nd option mode, as if I held it longer, so no recent apps menu comes up. Do you have a tip how to fix it?

There is no direct way to move your apps to SD card.
You need to be rooted in order to move apps to SD. Use Folder mount or similar apps to move apps to SD
Hi
Im rooted and I know about FolderMount, but that doesnt move the app. How can I really move apps to external sd?
Thank you

first you should root your phone,i recommend using towelroot.
once you gain root access you should partition your sdcard and add a second primary partiton with ext4 format(set your device's usb mode to mass storage mode and connect it to pc,using minitool partiton wizard is recommended.this way you wont lose data on your sdcard)
i have created a 4gb partiton on my 32gb microsd but you can choose the right partition size according to how much data you want to move(detailed info about the process described in the Link2SD thread)
then you can install Link2SD (free) from the link below, this app can move application file,dalvik-cache and library files.internal data such as downloaded game data can be moved but you need to buy the pro version(it's better to use FolderMount for moving internal data to avoid running out of free space in your microsd's second partiton).

hello, I appreciate this, but something goes wrong with my xperia zr, I made the partition, then reboot, and start the Link2SD again, then it seems to work because it asked me to select the partition, the menu to select was like ext2, ext3, ext4, fat32, etc, then I choosed ext4.
immediately it asked to reboot, but now I have a constantly loop... do you know how can I fix this? thanks so much.

you're welcome our xperia zr does not support the Move to SD feature so when you tap an application in Link2SD and select Move to SD card you see errors.
so this is how you move apps to the second partition of your sdcard:
In Link2SD tap the application you want to move. then at the bottom of screen there is a Create Link button, tap it.
now you can choose the application items to move.you can check all of the available checkboxes or you can choose the ones you wish to move.
when you're finished click OK and Link2SD will link (or in other words move) the application files to sdcard.
if you want to unlink an application from sdcard, select Remove link in application page and Link2SD moves back the application files to internal storage of the phone.
you can always see the free space on the sdcard's second partition by taping Storage info in main window of Link2SD.
thank you bro but I don't have a PayPal account :highfive: let me know if you have any other questions
I just select all the apps and then choose "create link" when the process finished my Xperia ZR just fly! I get the speed back.
I tried to unlock other features buying the app, but it didn't unlock, I try rebooting but the app stills the same.
Thanks again for your big help ?

it changes its position while flipping from vertical to horizontal. sometime it's at the centre where it should be, but then, it goes back a little left, then again to the far left.
The rom is pretty smooth, faced glitches while trying to swipe languages at the welcome cynogenmod screen, a soft reboot too, while on particular language(was just rolling over). (clean flash on the latest twrp recovery, with opengapps and keyboard fix) after went over the process, tried taking screenshot, but got error "Couldn't capture screenshot(Can't take screenshot due to limited storage space or it isn't allowed by the app or your organization"(wth?) soon enough everything started crashing and wouldn't stop, I reboot to recovery again, clear cache then back again. voila, no crashing and I took screenshot. no keyboard problem.
wifi connects, camera and camcorder works. file manager shows sd card data but pc won't mount sd card(if it's not fat32 format), ram usage was at 63 percent(with gapps after reboot) and 60 percent(without gapps)
clean flashed again. without gapps, just rom and keyboard fix.
no fc or crashes at all.
keyboard lock AOSP.
An alternative keyboard please?
Thanks for the great work, great!

The last 2 links you list say "Tab 2 7.0." Do you know if these files also work for the P5113? (I'm assuming yes, since you have a thumbs up next to P5113).
Also, is it ok if I use Open GApps 6.0 nano instead of your 2nd link?
Or would this conflict with the GApps keyboard listed in your 3rd link?

One last question: I see you stated earlier the "file manager shows sd card data but pc won't mount sd card(if it's not fat32 format)."
This is probably a n00b question, but can you explain what "won't mount SD card" mean?
I did some quick Googling, and it looks like it means the card isn't recognized. Does this mean that I can't access backed-up data from Titanium Backup? I know it's not recommended, but I usually like to back-up and restore save data for games and applications (only user apps, never system apps!) after each Rom change. Does this mean that my backup will be lost / inaccessible?
Or does this mean I won't be able to transfer newer builds from my pc to the tablet using the USB cord?

it won't show your sd card when you connect through the USB on the PC, so you won't be able to transfer files to the sd card, neither it shows on your tab.(it does show, but has different mount point, instead of sdcard1 your external card data will be found at /mnt/media_rw/(somerandomname) using any filemanager.
now you got the point? you can try titanium backup to look your files at that location.

Yes, these files worked successfully on my SG Tab2-10.1 (P5113). The only issue I'm experiencing is with my 16G external SD card. Storage & USB in settings reads it on tablet, but 'File Manager' and 'ES File Explorer' apps do not. Desktop connection via USB also does not show external storage.

Thanks for the explanation! I just installed CM 13, and it seems to be running smoothly so far.
A few minor questions:
What root manager apps works with CM 13? I just tried SuperSU from the Playstore, apparently it only supports up to Lollipop since it kept giving me error messages when trying to install the binaries.
Also, is there a setting to change the time in the upper-right corner to show AM/PM?
Going back to cm12.1 . Dont like the externalsd card problems. Dont know why they changed it, but it su..... . But must say that ROM works fine. Hope they change external sd card usage, to come back on it.

You don't need supersu, it's pre rooted, go into developers settings and enable root from there for app and adb. Go into setting time and date, change time format to 12 hour

I have a problem with this.
When I use ES File Manager in CM13 and go to /mnt/media_rw/ I see an empty folder even though I have a micro-sd card inserted which contains data. When I go to settings-->Storage & USB, Marshmallow shows me my external microsd-card as "sdcard1" under "mobile storage" with 42 of 59 GB used.
I did NOT use the internal-storage open introduced in Marshmallow. I want to keep my microsd-card as an external device.
When I turn the screen of and on again, I'm in the lock-screen and I see a notification which reads "SD-Card by Samsung - for transferring fotos and media" and when I double-tap on the notification, a file-manager opens and shows me all the files and folders saved to my external microsd-card and then I can access all files and folders contained on the microsd-card, I can listen to music, open PDFs and so on.
How can I acess the microsd- card with a file manager ? How can I copy files from my tablet's internal storage to the microsd-card and vice versa ?
Of course, when I connect my tablet with my windows-pc using the usb-cable, the microsd-card also does not show up on the PC.
And as I said before, the /mnt/media_rw/ folder is empty so I really don't know how to copy files to and from my microsd-card.
Help please.

Regarding the SD issues. Have anyone tried making it adoptable?

This can also be done from terminal emulator by typing:

What i have done???
First i used Kitchen ( download and extract to desktop ) to edit my boot.img!
With kitchen i unpack boot.img and searched for fstab.hi6210sft file, with notepad++ i edited that file by adding this line:
Note: Check all the line until the end of tab!
Code:
/dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /data/app ext4 rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,data=ordered,noauto_da_alloc,discard wait
Then i rename the boot.img to old_boot.img and repacked in to a new one and rename it to boot.img! Get it???
Now what need more????
Bootloader must be unlocked!
Need TWRP!
Your SD Card must be a cat10 and must have 32GB or more of storage.
Use Default Huawei Backup app to backup your phone.
Do backup from your SD Card in to PC, very important!!!!
Boot in to TWRP
Go to TWRP, Advanced, Partition SD Card
Select Micro SDCard
In EXT Size add 10240 (10GB - I think is enough but you can choose your own size)
In File System select ext4
Swipe to Partition ( This will erase SD Card in process!!!!!!! )
Copy boot.img to SD Card
Go to install, select SD Card, select image, select boot.img, select boot and install it
Go to main menu
Do Factory Reset
Boot the phone!
Now you can restore all to your SD Card!
How to check if is ok after boot?
Go to Google Play storage and install Storage Space, or any other app that show you you mounted partitions, in Storage Space go to settings, all partitions, slide down to the end and you must have somthing like the picture bellow! ( in picture i was on test mode and only have a 4GB partiton that show to be litle)
Check the images to get a ideia how it works.
I think is all!
Enjoy it!

Yeah, I thought the same. But what I'm thinking now, does it work better than the adoptable storage? Since it sucks and doesn't really work. If his method works better, it sounds like a good option.

Hi!
I found that while using an SD Card as adopted internal storage, it is mandate that the speed of the card is very high. High speed SD cards such as UHS-1 type card is recommended for Adopted Internal Storage where as Class 2, Class 4 types are not recommended for adopted internal storage as the performance of latter is approximately 10 times slower than the former, and might cause performance issues.
So my mod does not have this issue because only apps go to Sd Card and only be a read action, the data from apps a dalvik-cache still in phone memory and most part of read writing is there.
But if you want to try ( i don´t teste it...) i found this to get Sd Card adopted:
Search on Google said:
Step 1: Be sure you are using a High Perfomance Sd Card or you will loose performance on you phone.
Example:
Backup all from your Sd Card and format it to start from zero.
Step 2: Now you have to decide how do you to split the the SDcard. You can choose either to use 100% of the SD card to the internal storage or you can split between internal storage and SDcard. The splitting option is recommend if you need to put your card and a PC. But we would recommend using the whole card.
Step 3: Connect your phone to your PC using an original USB cable and make sure ADB driver are installed properly. You will need to enable USB Debugging on your device as well.
Step4: On your computer open a command window/ terminal and type this code: “adb shell”.
Step 5: Type “sm list-disks” to open a list with the available disks for adoption. Once you do that it will look something like the image example below.
Code:

disk:179:160
Note: disk info can be diferent in your device
Step 6: You have to partition the disk now. For this you need to use the “sm partition DISK TYPE RATIO” command. To understand you better let’s take an example. To partition the disk above as fully adopted storage (aka private)we should use this command:
Code:
sm partition disk: 179:160 private
If you wanna split if 50:50 you should use this command:
Code:
sm partition disk: 179:160 mixed 50
You see, it’s not difficult!
Step 7: This process may take a while and once it’s done go to Settings > Additional Settings > Storage and you will see the new internal storage. Sometimes the total space is not showed but do not worry, it works fine.

Can someone help, please? I got stuck at the beginning with this tutorial. I need free space on my PRA-LX1 and decided to follow this tutorial. I got a real ice SD card and I unlocked it but I failed to extract the boot.img from my phone. Can someone lease share the exact steps for the procedure of extracting the BOOT.IMG?
I installed the AIK Kitchen tool on my phone but it said there is no available IMG to work with. Then I downloaded the supposed stock ROM for my phone to use with Kitchen for Windows but I got some CRC error while extracting the UPDATE.APP and even when I override it it doesn't show there is BOOT.img inside. So I didn't even got to use Kitchen because I can't find this damn boot.img. Phone is with stock rom 8.0.0.375 C432.
