New battery does not hold charge - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

New battery was drained and fully charged while the phone was off.
Now it drains to 15% after less then 12 hours of average use.
When charger is unplugged the battery imm goes down to 97%
what is the best way to improve the battery performance ?

Don't use it as much
Everything has a work in time, your phone needs to forget about old battery and dance with a new partner. Give it a chance...
Oh and search is a good thing. This phone isn't cutting edge anymore.

Did you get this battery from china?
It probably has like 800mah.

Is there any battery today that does not originate in China ?
It is marked "SAMSUNG G7 1500mah".
I already tried to calibrate the battery about a week ago using a market application that claims to perform a reset of the battery stats.
after the reset I drained the battery for 3 days and recharged while the phone was off every night (during those 3 days).
then for the first few days the battery actually held up nicely reaching 50-60% after 12 hours.
after a week or so it started to drain more rapidly reaching 15-20% in the evening.
It also fails to hold 100% when the charger is unplugged, going straight to 97%.
should I try another battery or is there a another way to calibrate the battery ?

What does your 'Battery Use' say is using most of your battery?

Its still quite possibly a fake samsung battery. Did it come from a reputable seller at least? If yes return it.
Heres an example of battery life with a genuine samsung 1500mah battery

Hey BenKranged
What APP did you use for that screen capture? I know this has nothing to do with this post but looking for one on the market and there are so many to choose from.

Is there a way to identify a genuine non-fake G7 battery ?

That's how mine looks. My battery does seem to drain fast when I am actually using it. But, also when I'm not using it, it seems to keep at a steady battery level for a while. I guess it's a trade off. I also use Juice Defender which definitely helps.

I probably used juice defender for about 4 months. Then I tried running without it and found I got equal or better battery life.

Massive Battery Drain on Reboot

Recently, I've been having massive battery drain on reboots. Is this a calibration issue? I'm currently on the 4/15 build of CM10, but was previously on Slimbean 4.1 2/25 build. It was happeneing on that build as well. It just dropped from 55% to 12% after the reboot...Also, my battery is slightly bloated, it can't really be seen visually, but you can feel it. Are these two correlated? Should I get a new battery?

Your battery is fried, time for a new one, whenever you have swelling, its the number one sign that your battery is dead. Soon you won't be able to use your phone without it being connected to a charger.

I too have had this issue with the SlimBean, I believe it to be from the "Fast USB Charge" function.
Since it has to be replaced anyways, any suggestions for Extended Batteries?

I got this one and its pretty nice:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009PGTUFQ
It's 2050mah so not too much more than stock but still good. I bought it because it doesn't require a special battery cover. Lasts me all day with decent (sometimes excessive) use. And it looks cool in red haha.

Already bought another stock battery, but if I had known about this, maybe would have bought this instead. Oh well, the new battery is working much better than my old already.

Thanks for the info, I've seen that one, but I think that I'm going to go with this one: EZO Power since I'm never very far from a charger. (battery troubles will cause you to carry one or keep them everywhere. LOL)
i have 3 at home, one in the car and 2 at work
Ive just started running AOIP, and I have experienced the massive drain on reboot. so the consensus is its a battery issue?
When ever you have battery issues like that it is you battery. Soon you will notice random reboot accompanied by massive battery drain. Then you will have to have your phone plugged in just to use it, you will also start to notice swelling. I recommend you get another before it gets this bad. Trust me having to have your phone plugged in 24/7 is not fun

Note 2 Extended battery Review. 7600mah

Hello guys and gals,
I have received the extended battery that i have ordered on last friday and has been using it for the past 3 days.
The model i have ordered is 7600mah extended battery with NFC and back battery cover.
I can't confirm the battery capacity is 7600mah or not but it sure have increased my standby time by double.
The back battery cover has a very tight and good fitting as good as the original and it looks good too.
The battery does add weight and bulk to note 2 but it is worth the standby time.
I am not here to promote this item but just to share out my findings.
The link for the battery is :

and i have only ordered this case yesterday and i hope it will fit perfectly....

That battery might be a dud. I get way over 24hrs of use and over 6hrs of screen time on my standard original battery. And that's on the 4.3 rom. I used to get closer to 9-10 hrs screen time on the original 4.1.1 rom when I first got the phone.

depends on your usage bro, for my stqndard battery, usually i need to charge after 7 to 8 hours after i unplug from my charger after a full charge while this extended battery i use now doubles the time.
different people have different kinds of apps on their phone so the result may varies and very subjective.
i also can get over 24 hours of stanby time if i only have very basic apps installed on my note 2.
Cheers.
Same for me, 10h on 4.1.2 and only 6 on 4.3.
I will try slimbean this week to see if its better.

I think I know why the reactions were a bit too emotional - a screenshot of the screen up time would help to prove your point. And you don't have to estimate, just when viewing the battery graph page, click on the Screen entry, the precise time is there.

[Q] feel like returning after battery life ?

Anyone felt like returning this phones after a week cause of battery life?
Im not cause its not that bad and maybe a custom ROM may be able to work on that just looking for other people's experience and what they think thanks!
It's useable with a few temp.. tweaks .
The bottom line is this all occurs with lollipop in general S5 was great on kitkat ...until 5.0
It's not the phone it's features and O.S
People are disabling Volte and WiFi calling it helps a lot
I wouldn't return it over battery life yet the camera is way to good
Give it time We get roms soon and mods it's I take back everything +I said
Samsung needs to take back every s6 and Rethink there whole O.S
For a 750$ flag ship release its so buggy it's hopeless .
Camera is only worthwhile feature

Do one factory reset and set up phone again and disable VOLTE FOR NOW under Phone /More .
Cycle the battery meaning charge filly and let it fully drain as far as you can before recharging again .Another words don't fully charge it when it hits 40%
This is true the battery's learn a drain span
I'f you recharge anything above 10% it isn't gonna learn it's max capacity Takes like a week.
The main fix is Volte disable and WiFi calling
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app
i turned off volte i dont really see the need for it i mean its a phone call why do you need such high speeds lol my phone is at 2 percent waiting for it to die lol thanks
If it wasn't for the rapid quick charge I probably would have
returned it but the fact that I can top off in a half an hour it's really not a problem getting through the day.
I think it has something to do that the phone is not going to deep sleep, i rooted mine and flashed a custom kernel, now it does deep sleep and battery is ok now
While battery life isn't as good as some phones I've used recently I still got 5hrs SOT yesterday. Not bad at all.

That is pretty good for this phone ....
Has anyone tried going into Developer Options }Limit Back
Ground Processes to 4 ?
I wonder if this barely slows the Phone for most things but might give an additional ( wild guess 10% to 25%) Battery Life.
I don't have one but if this works....be easier for me to decide.
I may put this idea in a separate Thread.

Yea I can't complain about battery life. The screen is so ridiculous I end up using the phone for no reason, so my usage at least for now since it's new, isn't my normal usage.

Real battery capacity?

Hello everybody! I own a Huawei P9 running Eva-L19 version. And using whatever root app inside my phone, they all shows that my phone has a 2900maH battery. What seems weird is that on every site, GSMArena etc. they all say that Huawei P9 has got a 3000maH battery. Few months ago I've dropped my phone and crack the screen and went into factory, I'm thinking would it be that my battery has been changed...? I don't remember what is the battery capacity showed before it went into factory, thats the problem! It would be kind for anyone to confirm with me what's their battery capacity. Thanksss

Normally wiping battery stats dont do anything in newer devices/android versions(in terms of making battery last longer), but you can try turning off phone, charge it to full and wipe battery stats. Maybe battery was disconnected and phone dont see it properly(but I doubt it... )
As for my phone Its 3000maH on all apps that check it.

Its just a number on some apps. It would be sad if your battery life would be worst than normal. Its imposible to say how long battery will last because everyone use phones differently, they have different apps working in background and features enabled/disabled but no matter of OS version average should be two days before battery on P9 reach 5%
And taht is with LTE turned off(that is one of most power hungry feature in every phone. Tip: just dont use it, HSPA is enough to stream even 1080 videos)
I normally have 40% at the end of the day because I have Gear Fit synced and I use NFC and GPS all the time, but even if phone would have 2900mah battery difference should be not bigger than 5% So dont worry about it that much.

Question Accubattery showing Battery health at 47% for a new phone (1 month old)

I purchased this about a month ago. I have been reading a lot of posts out here about people having fairly low battery life. So I had installed Accubattery to see if the discharge is abnormal. I checked today and it seems like Accubattery is claiming that my battery is only at 50~% health. Now I am unsure that if this is because it is a genuine fault or because this phone is supposed to have 2 2500mAh batteries and Accubattery is detecting only one of them. Any idea about this?

I've had my 11T Pro for roughly two weeks and I have the same issue.
It doesn't read charging speed correctly which confuses it's health calculations.

Those SOT numbers seem erratic. Some reasonable, others look impossible.
When you're using the browser not watching vids the usage should low.
As the previous poster mentioned it may just not have good sensing for battery usage.
Accubattery is only as good as the data it's getting. Even then it can screw up. I don't understand what's going on there.
Rather strange. I don't have that phone so I don't know what it's nominal run time should be. If it's running cool and you can get 8-10 hours SOT you're probably in the ball park.

Hmmm, okay. I'll continue observing my phone's behaviour then. I do get over 8-10 hours SOT on medium usage. Additionally, I read from other threads that the 120W charger isn't charging the phone fully and it makes sense to charge with a lower power charger. So I will try that as well. Will keep this thread updated if I see any improvements.
Accubattery doesn't work well with dual battery setup, that's why it's showing Battery health at 47%.
Set design capacity to 2500.
11T PRO has 2x 2500mah battery for ultra fast charging. Set the design capacity to 2500 and you will be fine.

This presents a potential problem in the future as one battery can degrade and fail independently of the other. You really need to be able to monitoring both.
If the manufacturer designed it properly each battery should have its own power controller in a perfect world. Not sure if this is so on any of the dual battery phones...
