Here is a link to the me863 thread which Bell users have been using to recover
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288823

Thanks -- when I get some spare time, I'll create a thread on recovering a broken XT860 phone using these files and using psouza's tools.

That would be sweet. If you want to post a link in here or link this post in it there would be no need at all for a bell sub-forum. Did you manage to get your phone updated by any chance?

Hey Willis -- Yes, indeed, thank you! Had my phone restored to stock (albeit still rooted). Not being able to get into homescreen had me a little scared there for a bit, but as is well now!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but you successfully applied the update to your bell droid 3? Could you post a little info on your process? Got a call from bell that my phone is fixed, looks like it was a hardware problem instead of software so I should be able to post a full system image for our phones later this evening.

All you on AT&T just flash the SBF and voila your bricked atrix is back.
I'm to scared to do anything to my atrix without an SBF
Mother Russia is proud
even if its not the bell SBF but still one that us bell users can use then that would be awesome.
download is really slow, need like 2h to get it
I tried to download it and it said
"We are sorry, but all downloading slots for your country are busy."
Also the file is 722.28 MB thats seems really big. also the file extension .gz
Something sounds odd. What do you guys say?
EDIT: also if anyone manages to get it done downloading could you upload it to some other website.

.gz is Gzip. Common Linux/Unix compression.
The AT&T SBF is pretty big, too. Don't forget you're getting the webtop in there, too. I think that size is pretty close, actually.

[Bell 0.37.23] DEVS ONLY (Gingerbread OTA)

WARNING: DO NOT FLASH THIS ON ANY PHONE
IT CONTAINS A NEW BOOTLOADER THAT WILL HARD BRICK YOU AND NOT FEEL GUILTY
All of the credit belongs to devs. Samcripp for setting up Project Cheesecake, the effort to find as many international builds as possible located on cloud servers. Navalynt for cloud test CWM mod. Tenfar for CWM bootstrap. Nate_benji for retrieving the update and uploading it for development purposes.

I have in my position a full OTA update. This has Bell GB, but no unlock and it also has the new dreaded ap20 BL, thats been hard bricking ATT phones when people try to sbf to older builds.

This is what we know so far about the build. I'm making this thread only to supply the link for the update so that hopefully we can start figuring out how we can use it (if at all). 2nd-init is a possibility, and sifting through the folders might yield to some breakthroughs.
Before I supply the link I want to remind everyone not to flash this on their phone.
Link:
Nate_benji's Megaupload
Multiupload link
Folders in root:
META-INF
patch
preinstall
recovery
system
webtop
ap20bl.img
bp.img
cdrom
cdt.bin
logo.bin
metadata.gpb
Looking forward to see if we can get anything from this, and lastly, thanks again to the devs.

You guys realize you can simply use the files to create an update-zip that takes out Motorola's assert checks and bootloader flash?
Very good news!
EDIT: Oops... I forgot that you don't have an unlocked bootloader to work with. It should be a bit more difficult then.
Would it be possible to re-package it with our current bootloader? I imagine this already would have been tried with other updates if it was possible.

I can't say for sure but what would be great is if we could manufacture a "fruitcake" like package that would leave our BL alone. But once again, we don't have an sbf to fall back to, so we'd need to backup all of our partitions.

I highly suggest you don't download anything since you clearly didnt read the post
The most important part is that you shouldnt be flashing anything, also, its an OTA
Ok what about this nv flash where you have to have the special cable? Would it be possible for non at&t ATRIX phones to use that method to flash our unlockable bootloader then use the the files from the rom you now have and make a fruit cake? Just theory I don't think I've read of anyone doing nv flash.

You can just replace some of the files, the rest need to be patched which will be a pain.

He's kindly asked which SBFs he should prepare Fruitcake for (lol that sounded so weird).
I'm pretty sure he'll do it for Bell, French/Orange SBF, the popular ones for sure... man, I'm so pumped!!!
Hi,
Is this the latest Bell GB build?
Can't you just use CWM and edit out the bits in updater that reference ap20bl? And delete ap20bl.img as well of course.
Is there a better boot loader out there that fixes the ram issue? Maybe a swap in would be a better idea.
This OTA is a patch so you will have to be on Bell's 37.23. I backed up all my .23 partitions if anyone needs them. I was able to get back to .23 without unlocked boot header from ORGB using edited French 2.1.1, just removed all fs code groups basically. Fuse still the same though (cat /sys/firmware/fuse/ReservedOdm=20002000200004000) .
Cheers!

just because it's newer than 2.3.4. just compared the 906 cdt with this one; 906 is 04, this one is 02, so it won't even flash. oh well, 2.3.4 is still pretty nice and will have fully functional kexec soon

I agree, higher numbers = win. I would just copy libmoto_ril.so, my apns-conf.xml and build.prop from my original rom, boot and see what happens and then if I didn't have data/phone I would swap back my original files, wipe data/cache and boot and see what happened, hopefully you would have a fully working bell 2.3.6 on your vzw phone. Let us know.
Thanks for the tip, but if it's not as easy as flashing fxz and radio, not gonna mess around with it.

i dont see how you will brick your device beyond repair... we've been switching these libs since the beginning with no negative effects and if something does go wrong(the only thing that could possibly happen is a temporary bootloop, until you reflash the sbf) you just use rsd and reflash the bell sbf to have a fully working phone again. If you need more help, need to know which libs, where to put the or permissions etc, anyone can help you, feel free to ask if you decide top give it a try though I think I already posted instructions in a few other threads. I'll look around and update the OP if I find them
tried your bell 2.3.6 rom with libmoto_ril.so and build.prop from 906; persistent "com.motorola.phone has stopped working" error.

How to flash ATT firmware on Bell Atrix HD without bricking?
Someone please let me know how to flash ATT firmware on Bell Atrix HD without bricking. Bell doesn't release any updated. My battery drains so fast even after turning-off all wireless hardware. I can't see battery consumption details. I'm stuck with BELL while I live in the U.S.
Seriously with the bell and Att this phone has been a pain in the assignment for all developers Ho even attempted to get root and who are working on the bootloader some of us nearly bricked trying to figure out the damn device and now you want us to show you how not too so u can flash bell or Att on the vis versa so with that said...
Don't play with newly rooted devices unless your willing to have a pretty glass paperweight *facepalm *
Thank you for these files. Just saved my ass! Almost bricked but these brought me back.
Hello everyone,
I have downloaded and installed the beats audio app from the market, and my phone got bricked(@least i should thnk so, im a noob, not sure how its supposed to look like lol). Anyways, i took it to a phone repair shop, and the guy fixed it in about an hour, i was so happy that i did not notice the big question mark inside the battery"?"... and it now seems like my battery wont charge over 6-7%. Should i use RSD lite to restore the battery settings? Hope someone can help...
Thanks .

Well first things first, NEVER pay someone when we can help you and if that guy fixed it correctly then there is no reason for the battery not to charge. Just rsd flash it and buy this http://shop.teamblackhat.info/Factory-Adapters-motadapt.htm for future bricks lol
BTW rsd will NOT work unless you have at least 75% battery, you will rebrick your phone if it goes to "low battery" before if gets completely flashed. Buy that adapter first then do it.

Flashing back to STOCK JB

Hey everyone, I've got a very serious problem here.
Last week after rooting and unlocking bootloader with motochopper, I tried to swap my external/internal storage.
The partitioning method to mount create a partion and mount worked, but I couldn't replace the mount points of either storage. So i decided to use a scripted method to achieve my goal, that didn't work and I was left with frustration and I ran a script that was supposed to be the last line of the tutorial and my phone instantly went black and I rebooted.
Been stock at AT&T white boot logo ever since.
Trying to use this method HERE but I can't find the stock rom where I need to delete some lines in an xml file.
I have downloaded the BataKang stock AT&T rom but the xml file isn't there and I don't know which way to follow.
I'll have access to a Windows Pc on Monday so am trying to download all required files now and to get the best possible tutorial to flash and return my phone to working other.
Thanks in advance.
