[Q] [Request] Skype with video calling - HTC Salsa

Hi All, need a skype apk file which supports video calling on Salsa.. downloaded almost all apks from XDA but still no luck.. (or I must have missed something)
thanks

i did have it. but since rooting this phone i've lost most of it!

How did you root?
How were you able to root the Salsa. I haven't been able to and it appears from everything I read others can't either.
Anybody know what the highest version of sense can be run on this phone?
Thanks.

Rooting is only done once u have s-off. Once I got that its easy. To check that reboot your salsa, take batt out, reinsert hold volume key down and switch on. Hboot menu comes up and it will say at top.
To get s-off if its s-on u need a xtc clip to do it. Root can only be achieved afterwards.
Sense 2.1 is the highest so far on the salsa I beloved but don't quote me lol

[Q] How to return to stock?

Rooted and running CM 6.1.0, have backed up 1.21 firmware, what is the easiest way to unroot and return to stock? (remove CWM also). Need to send the phone in for button repair. If I apply OTA update on the 1.21 firmware (updating to 2.2) will it wipe everything clean?

uhh im not too sure anymore but i think the best way to do it would be to apply an older stock rooted rom and then plug your phone into a comp with htc sync, and then do the update thing thats it got on there.. thats the way i was told a while back but im not sure if theres an easier/better way to do it. probably should wait till someone else comments before you go do anything but yeah youre meant to do something like that ^ i believe..
From my own experience, the technicians doesn't know if its stock, cm or what. They fix the problem and that's it.
I've sent my device twice with cm on it and there was no problem

Thanks for the replies although I would be happy to send it in with CM and whatnot, as it is not mine I do not even want to take the risk. Can anyone confirm that installing the latest vodafone firmware will restore phone to stock?
basically run a htc update on it (if you haven't S-OFFed then 2.1 is fine)
Search isn't working now so I can't link you, but either way find an offical RUU and it will do everything for you. Remember if you do update it to froyo (official) it is a difference process to root again (but still possible)
Or else.. search the forum.. I made a thread called "easiest way to unroot".. or something like that.. Always use the SEARCH feature before asking questions..

It's time for the younglings my friend
method 1 (preferred)
you can leave the LEGEIMG.zip to the root of your goldcard and go to boot loader and let it load and you confirm the update. i suggest using the same one that you use for the downgrade.
if, you don't have it download Legend rooting tools, extract the zip. locate testimage.zip... copy it to your goldcard and rename it to LEGEIMG.zip. (make sure you dont ended up renaming it to LEGEIMG.zip.zip if you know what i mean lol)
method 2 (goldcard not needed)
For the past few days i've been playing around with official RUU. and heres what i've done so far on testing the official RUUs from HTC (link from stickies)... it'll turn your Legend to stock.... even if your on CM7 or any other roms....
But... if you have an HBOOT of less than 1.00... be warn. RUU with Froyo will update it and there's no known method to downgrade. unless you dont care about it and thinks its about time you update it and you have intention on doing the S-OFF...

[Q] Incredible 2.3.4 cannot get S-off/root/temp root/anything

I have an Incredible 2.3.4 with this taken from HBOOT
Incrediblec XC Ship S-On
HBOOT-0.92.0000
Microp-0417
Touch Panel-ATMEL224_16ab
Radio-2.15.10.07.07
Ok, so here is my problem, I want to be rooted and I want S-off, but I cannot get anything done. The phone wouldn't recognize the SD Card, I got that taken care of. The phone does the 5 Vibrates when turning it on unless I have the USB plugged in and I do a battery pull. (This really screws up updates/RUU fixes where updates are necessary). And along those lines I tried an RUU back to 2.1 which didn't work because of the restart issue, but then I was able to run the update after booting into HBOOT USB but the RUU failed ultimately.
I've tried to gain root access through unrevoked 3.22, it simply says failed to push recovery, terminated. I've tried rooting using zergRush, it tells me that it has found a path and that its sending zergs, then it just stops without telling me what happened and kicks me back out of adb shell. This is a recurring problem, I will be in adb shell and then randomly and for no reason it was kick me out to the root of my computer.
I'm working on a Windows 7 64 bit machine, I have been using an ADB mini download, but have also tried working through the installed ADB with equal results.
If anyone has any idea of what I could be doing wrong or different please let me know. I really need some kind of help because I am at a major loss.
2.3.4 on the Incredible has not yet been rooted, therefore the rooting software (Unrevoked) has not been updated with a root method. That would be why it's not working for you. I've never tried to downgrade to an old version using an RUU, so I can't really speak to that.
Also, this was posted in the incorrect forum. You should have posted in the Q&A section, as this has nothing to do with development.
What about the radio?
I was wondering this same thing because my wife's Incredible isn't rooted, but she's on 2.3.4. If she ever asks me to root her phone to put something on it or give her some feature not otherwise available, I'd rather be prepared if possible.
While looking over the UnRevoked site, I noticed it didn't really mention the Android versions it worked with, just the radios. I wonder if it's possible to just flash the radio to 2.15.00.07.28, which is rootable, according to the UnRevoked site, and try the UnRevoked Forever tool?
The radios are pretty easy to get here after all.
I'm not recommending this without some confirmation from someone with a lot more experience rooting than I have though, so Caveat Emptor!
Just a thought.
Cheers!

You can flash radios in the bootloader, but, having S-ON, the zip file may need to be signed, so i'd say NO it's not possible to flash a radio w/o root.
Yeah, flashing radios with s-on is a brick magnet.

Downgrade from sense 3.0 to 2.1

hello
I ask you, after touring all the Italian Forum
I have an incredible S - never hacked, is original
I had the sense I have updated before 2.1 and the sense nalate 3.0
However, the battery lasts me much less, even though I turned off all sync, I disabled all the graphic effects
I can go back to 2.1?
thanks
You can't get there from here no matter how hard you try. The only thing you can do is root and custom recovery to go back to 2.1. However there are things you can do to speed up your device. Move apps over to your SD card, remove un-needed apps, turn off wifi and gps when not using it, don't use live wallpaper, don't leave apps running in the background.

Since you have upgraded to Sense 3.0, HBOOT 2.00.0000 is not going to let you flash an older RUU in an unrooted state.

Whoever told you to get the 2.12.405.7 RUU to go back to Sense 2.1 was incorrect.
Since you now have Sense 3.0 it is a higher version number, so you cannot go back to a lower version number if you do not have root.
That is the reason you are getting the Error 140.
ok so if the root cells can not return to the sense 2.1?

Really don't know that info, however if you want to get root but don't want to wait there are other ways to do it. Let me know if you are interested and I will post them up. Consider though it will take longer than it would using the toolkit.
megatronisabeast
I'll try pretty much anything. I've rooted several devices, so findind a new way for another one won't hurt. Only thing that I really would like to do is avoid making a gold card, but if you have to do that I think I will wait for the toolkit. Thanks!! Do you know if it's possible to temp root, flash a kernal with cwm, and then flash a rom?
Here is what you need to do to root your phone, etc.
First thing is to download android sdk:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
It will allow you to send files to your phone from your computer-no s-off so can't flash kernel in recovery only fastboot.
While that is downloading if you haven't already you need to unlock boot loader by going to:
http://htcdev.com/
Don't forget to keep the unlock code so if you need to relock your boot loader.
Next, it sounds like you want to flash a custom rom. If so the best one in my opinion is found here:
http://www.wcxxperia-nce.com/index.php
You have to register to see the vivid section.
Once there you will download the zip file, put a copy on your phone, the other copy unzip and place the boot.img and wcx recovery in the same folder that you have the fast boot file that you downloaded earlier from sdk.
Then you put your phone into hboot mode, plug it in to usb port, make sure on phone screen is says fast boot usb in red.
Then open command prompt in your folder with fast boot by clicking shift and the right mouse button.
Type in these commands:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery wcxrecovery.img
After those steps power down phone, unplug from computer, return to hboot, click on recovery, then flash the zip file that you placed on there earlier.
That's it, you got it root and all.
Also if you do use his rom, restart phone 3 times to settle phone in and cycle battery 3 times to make sure everything is working correctly.
Here is a video if you feel overwhelmed to help guide you brought to you by randong!

You can use wild child's recovery to perm root ics check it site for the video if you need proof

We just need S-OFF so we can simplify this entire thing by using CWM. It's so much easier being able to flash a scripted .zip package in there than dealing with fast boot.

I've never done it myself but it shouldn't be that difficult. I think I'm just spoiled coming from the Inspire - it was rooted, S-OFF'd, and had a few custom ROMs up the within a couple days of its launch. The level of development for that device was extreme from the very beginning.
Sent from my HTC Vivid
True, I still have an Inspire and the development is still booming. I personally just wish HTC would have made the Vivid as dependable as the Inspire, bc my Vivid has all sorts of problems. Turns off randomly, and each time when it turns back on it says "upgrading android" and then it optimizes the apps for ICS. Most of the time it won't flip my pictures(rotate)<--yes auto rotate is on...but all in all HTC went down in quality with the Vivid. Personally this is why I want to root, that way I don't have to worry with HTC screwing up the update.
it does work but i have found that busybox isnt installed/installed correctly and have had to install it from the market for titanium backup to recognize my root.

So I just found a way to get everything back .
First download a root file explorer (one able to gain root)
then navigate to your root it should be just a "/" then go to /data and then /data/media.
Bam that's where everything is! now just move all the folders to the main sdcard directory, /sdcard or delete the files that are in /data/media if you don't need them anymore.
Good Luck and hit "Thanks" if it helped :laugh:

my phone isnt rooted so no root access :crying:
Plug your phone into a PC and it should mount the phone as an external drive.
Open it up and look in the folders with the appropriate titles (Music, Movies, Ringtones...) and see if your files are there. If they are not, then move them to those folders.
What file types are the media files? (MP3, MP4, M4A, etc...) Apps like PowerAmp (at least the last time I used it) are able to play A LOT more file types than HTC's Music app.
Listen, download android commander on your PC, the website hangs on Chrome so search for the .exe and a few xda forums should pop, try and find a media fire link, I will try to link it. Then just navigate to where I said. Btw you should root. It's way better and the warranty can be restored for carrier not HTC. But yeah let me know how it goes

Now for the error -1 what i did was completely go back to stock, like bootloader relocked no root access running the latest t-mobile ruu in my case, remind me again what carrier version you have?
Edit- This was a guide that helped me a lot when i was getting issues I'm going to keep checking. Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506&highlight=ruu
Edit(2): Here's another guide that is like a pure index for the HTC One http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438026&highlight=ruu
Make sure to check the tools and the Ruu link because there's a minimal adb and fastboot that i used that worked. Ruu's usually come with an application for an Ruu, read carefully and feel free to look at my profile and email me directly, I'll be able to respond much much quicker.
Look at Complete Flashing Guide | Rooting | Going Back To Stock it's the second link in the guides section on index #2 and the tool is the last one under Drivers.
Continue down and there will be a section for Ruus and stock etc.

Long story short problem solved. Used android sdk to download drivers n it solved the problem.
Now the thing is the main problem with media files is still there AND I'm still on 4.1.2 only. Now that I have cupercid is there a way I can manually upgrade my phone to the official htc 4.2 update or the official 4.3 update rolling out to international versions?

I can't seem to find one and if i do I'm scared it will come with the 1.54 hboot and that is literally the last thing you want, I suggest rooting if you're not and running Maximus HD or Android Revolution HD, I've tested both and they are simply lovely. If you want to continue with the Ruu hunt then here you go, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2460534
Let me know what you decide.:good:

i wana keep my phone unrooted and official as long as possible. cuz then ill have something to look fwd to. right now iv just recently bought this phone n im loving n enjoying the stock roms too. whats the harm in 1.54 now that i have s-off? in that case do u recommend flashing the link u have posted. its developer edition does that mean it has bugs? or should i just wait for it to officially arrive? god knows how long bell mobile is going to take
also i just checked the thread, it updates to 1.55 hboot. man back in the dhd days rooting and flashing was so simple.also im thinking if i do flash ill do a complete wipe first. once i switch to this rom will i receive updates for the international dev edition directly? sorry for so many questions
1.54 takes off S-OFF but I think the RUU doesn't change the hboot but I'm scared to say yes so I suggest reading up on RUU things
