K9 & corp mail don't launch from contacts - Motorola Droid 3

I know when I first got the D3 both k9 and regular mail (not gmail - that still behaves as expected) offered launch icons from contacts, including blur contact widget.
Since rooting & debloating I no longer get the option.
Yesterday I rsd flashed -55 firmware, and now I'm bone-stock (except @ build 55 instead of 20 since we can't flash backards), but I stilll don't get k9 as an option.
Any clues how I can restore K9 mail as an app launch option in contacts?
Thanks!

Not to mention the obvious but you have K9 installed right?
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App

Yes. Installed, reinstalled, etc.
I figured out what it was. Gmail was selected as the default mail app, so that's what comes up. I cleared that setting, now I get a choice of all mail apps when I click on the mail launch icon. Not ideal, but better than before.

Good. I love questions that answer themselves.

Sync issues with Gmail

Basically, I get a notification of new mail on my phone before my web Gmail, which is normal. But when I read or delete an email from my phone, it doesn't sync properly with the normal Gmail client, because those emails are still unread.
I have a possible theory as to why this might be happening: From what I can remember, it seems like on FroyoMOD it was working fine, but any Gingerbread ROM I've been having this issue. Is it possible that because GB isn't really made for our phones, or the Gapps for GB are causing some sort of issue?
Thanks!
Having same issues. Gmail is not the only one having sync issues. In mine cm7 rc12 gb rom, even other apps such as yahoo mail, what's app, Google +, huddle are not notifying me anything even when I hv the background sync option on!

Are you having notifications issues like mine?

I think there might be something in build.prop that changes the sync. It is not always going to get everything right away as it only syncs every so often.

[Q] New Calendar not showing up in Calendar app

So I created a new calendar in Google Calendar on my desktop and I can't figure out how to get it to show up on my phone in the calendar app? I assumed it was automatic...but for some reason this doesn't seem to be working for me.
I'm unrooted in 3G only area...if that matters.
Any ideas??
When you open the app hit menu and should be calendars. Make sure the new one is visible and synced.

My new calendar does show up in that that list and is marked as "synced, visible"...but none of the events are being displayed...
To add to the confusion...the event I'm not seeing is at 9:30pm. I changed it to be All Day and it showed up in my calendar. Then, ON MY PHONE, I changed it back to be 9:30pm and the event disappeared again...
What in the world is going on?
Have you tried to make it not visible and not synced then after a couple minutes resync and make visible

Contact photos don't show up on GOSMS after ICS update

Not sure what ICS did, but my contact photos are a no-show on GoSms. The photos aren't actually save to the phone, they are pulled from each contact's facebook acount via facebook sync. It will show contact photos from contacts that have photos saved on the phone, but not for the contacts that rely on the facebook images. No issues in the actual people app, or the stock messager, just on GoSMS. Anyone else having issues? Possible fix? I tried uninstalling and re-installing it, no dice.
Handcent too. Havent figured out why and can't suggest anything at this point cause nothing I've tried has worked
Edit: Guess it's just not showing facebook contact photos. Google contact photos are showing up. Stock messaging shows all pics though...hmm. still looking..
Ha. Handcent just "Updated" and now I don't get Google contact pics either, only phone pics now..
Yeah it seems to be an issued with the sense 3.6s contacts data base and third party apps.

Help! Same Issue!
I did a software update and my photos under my phonebook are updated from facebook but my handcent sms photos are not showing up at all anymore. I tried downloading GoSMS and the same error. Anyone have a solution to this? I miss seeing the pictures when I text people!
I use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mots.haxsync
It's mostly is for AOSP or CM9 builds, but it works for Sense.
Cool. I'm actually four the problem. On Gingerbread, the vivid had its own unique facebook app, "facebook for htc sense ", but on ics, it useful the standard facebook app, and apparently the Facebook app doesn't let 3rd party apps have access to contacts. Why? Because Zuckerberg sucks probably. But anyway I fired the issue by deleting my accounts info on the Facebook app and installing friendcaster pro. I have friendcaster are so it was no big deal. The drawback is I can no longer use my cool friendstream widget.

What are those? I don't know what either of those are, do you mind explaining to me how those would fix my issue with handcent contact pictures not showing up?

Friendcaster has the ability to take photos from your Facebook and put them on your phone. I think that is what he was trying to say.

So the friendcaster is just an alternate to facebook. The issue I am having is that the facebook pictures show up in the phonebook but in handcent sms since I've updated they don't show at all . I was wondering if there was a way to fix THAT issue Thanks in advance
Yes using friendcaster instead will fix that issue. For me same issue, facebook pictures show in phonebook, not in gosms. Delete your Facebook account information and install friendcaster, log in and after sense links all your contacts you'll be good

Confirmed. Facebook's app has always been a steamy PoS
It is crap. I had the paid version of friendcaster already from using cyanogenmod on my captivate. The facebook app wouldn't sync photos at all on it and even my phonebook had no photos so from googleing i found friendcaster fixes the problem. The free version gets the job done but the paid version removes ads so I went ahead and paid for it.

I was having this problem even with HTC's contact widget. I wiped my facebook app data, then used titanium backup to uninstall the app. I reinstalled the app via google play and synced all contacts and the problem was fixed.

I can confirm that having both Facebook and Friendcaster accounts didn't show contact pictures, but removing the Facebook account entirely fixed the issue in a minute or two. Thanks for the advice!
Has anyone tried HaxSync? I use it but I don't use GoSMS.

I have confirmed that that using friend caster does work to get the contact pics on go sms. Thanks for making this thread. U can get the paid verision of friend caster on 4shared for free. But this is awesome lol.

Yeah and you get a cool ics look with friendcaster

That was brilliant!! I took off the Facebook account, kept Friendcaster and boom! My contact pictures are back in GoSMS... Thank you so much for the help and a great thread!!

Facebook contacts not showing..

I have created Facebook account and it's working in socialhub but I couldn't get the contacts to sync with device. In GB there will be an option to check whether do or do not sync contacts. But I couldn't find it in ICS. How to solve this?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
go to your contacts and hit settings. then accounts. Then check off the "sync" icon next to facebook
^^ Copy That.
Else you can do one more thing. Reinstall the FB app. Once I got stuck in somewhat similar thing like that.
I found that my facebook application which was restored by titanium backup didn't actually sync well with contacts. so had to reinstall.
I checked it and its in green color. When I go further it shows only messages and calendar. It didn't show up contacts. Any idea?

I'm talking about inbuilt social hub which lets the contacts to sync with Facebook account.. Can I re install that?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Why don't you use the fb app which is AVAILABLE in market. It also syncs in the same way.
Sure it will work.. But I don't wanna pile up with apps. Social hub has to do this job and I wanted to do it. Actually when I was GB I'll remove all social hub related apps (twitter account, linked account, even default mail app) except Facebook account, still it was syncing contacts flawlessly. Now I wanted the same. Does ICS doesn't have that capability??
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Should I remove all Facebook items from ICS and install third party apps from market?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Well I think you should wait for some more time till a solution comes out. I had the same problem with SocialHub. I chose over FB Market App since I didnt have time & wanted to get my contacts asap back. :/ Still will send you any info which might be helpful on this topic
Thanks.. Just now Google it... It seems there is a bug in ICS that stops sync contacts particularly in contactsprovider.apk. We need to add some .xml file it seems. Which is too tech for me so m gonna search some other option for this.

[Q] HTC Stock Mail App & Gmail

I'm not sure if this is Rom related or not..
Does the stock HTC mail app not push gmail messages? Does anyone use the stock mail app with their gmail account and able to get messages pushed through instead of doing an interval sync?
I'm on ARHD 12.1 if that matters. I didn't use the stock mail app prior to flashing so I can't compare nor say that it worked prior to flashing.

It's not ROM related - HTC's Sense Mail app won't have push email for Gmail - previously if you setup a Gmail account using the Exchange ActiveSync option it would work for Push but since Google's discontinued support for that I think you would have to use either Gmail's own app or something like K9 etc from the mkt (not sure if K9 or others will work either since I use the Gmail app myself)
