Force mango software update via zune - HD7 General

Ok, If like me you should have your Mango update official through Zune and you haven't there's a way to force Zune to update your Windows Phone 7 Device.
This worked for me on my HD7.
What you need to do
1) Connect your Windows Phone to Zune.
2) Make sure your defiantly connected via USB.
3) Navigate to the settings and then to phone settings.
4)Click the update button. (Zune will now check for updates for your phone)
5) After a COUPLE of SECONDS when Zune still says "checking for update", quickly disconnect from your internet connection. Disconnect whilst Zune is still checking for updates.
6) You will either get a connection error, or you will get a message saying there is an update available for your device. If may take a few times of connecting and disconnecting but you will get the update available message.
7)After receiving the Update Available message, connect back to your internet and click update.
8) Complete the update process. This could take up too 50mins depending on your internet connection.
9) BOOOM. Hello MANGO! =)

One thing to add that I've been reading from folks; if you have 7008, 7390, or 7392, you will get OS upgrade 7403 1st, then it rolls into 7720.68..which is Mango...DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE AFTER 7403!!!

Do this works if I'm in RTM 7720? I red somewhere that the oficial update have ICS, it's true?

well, i've tried this trick, but, it doesn't work......
and, i only got an error

it worked
Dude... It worked.... awesome... installing right now. tried first it showed update then in the middle it closed cause Zune was updating at the same time. So had to complete zune update first, then tried again and again and again... 6th try it showed again and now in the middle of update 7.5..
thanks mate

Works a treat - but what about firmware
Hey, just updated it and Mango is working a treat. However a few of the live tiles are broken now...most notably the music and video tile for Zune.
Do you know off hand if forcing also installs firmware? I'm on HTC HD7
Cheers!

Can someone who has tried this please tell me if it actually gives the carrier update or the general unlocked phone one?

Oww Yeah!! Thanks! Work!! :O
HTC HD7 in Brazil

Took 3 attempts, but it worked on that 3rd try...
Awesome...

Wow....its working fine for me.....but it took somuch time to get the update available message....i have tried more than 30times.....finally i got the update...
my mobile.................... network unlocked T-Mobile US version....using in Tata docomo network in INDIA....
Thanks for the idea....
cheers

Sweet ! Worked for me on the first try Thanks a lot !

For those who haven't completed this yet, keep trying, it will work, as for network branded im not all to sure. But im sure if there is an carrier update version available,. you will also get it via this method. I cant imagine you will install the unlocked version if you have carrier locked device.
If this method worked for you, please thank me by pressing the thanks button =)

aghhh!!!

I'll never buy a Mac again.
Having a complete and utter ***** of a time waiting for, then updating Parallels, then extending my virtual disk, etc., etc., just to install this update.
Update: Some time later, after extending the virtual disk (Parallels), re-installing a bunch of stuff, etc., etc., the update is downloading. All of this is to say that you can follow the forced update procedure using a Mac and Parallels. I probably could have done it using W7Phone Connector and the wireless toggle method, but I live the hard way.
[Just make sure your SIM card is actually IN the phone ... and] [C]lick "Yes" when Parallels asks you whether you'd like to continue the USB device settings in your virtual machine; i.e., when your phone automatically restarts, Parallels won't automatically assign its USB connection to your virtual machine unless you've already set it up to automatically assign the connection to XP/7.

Just tried this for my HTC Trophy I had the and it worked after 10 times...
Just to let you know... Patience is a must I noticed... I found it play up when I moved to different usb port that worked straight away

Worked perfectly for me first time..
Waited about a second before flicking off the wireless on my laptop.
Had to do it 4 times to update Zune and then get all WP7 updates but it was all pretty painless..
WP7 Mango on Telstra in Australia working nicely.. Haven't found anything that doesn't work so far!

Worked perfectly for me... Telstra HD7. Thanks for the tip!!

Holy Crap!
Worked first time for me too. On telstra HD7

Been trying this for my dad's HD7S, but I'm not getting either connection error nor update available. Just get phone is up to date (NoDo). Any suggestions?
I'll keep trying in the meantime.

The easiest way to get NODO without waiting.

Another guy here in the forum found an easy way to get nodo and i can confirm it is workin on my locked, branded tmobile hd7 usa. It took me a few tries though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015131
It is successful. I am downloading the update right now.
I was finally able to get it as well using that method.
I was also succesful using this "trick". Took me about 5 tries.
Yes, works. Second try, about 4 seconds.
Also successful at first try!
I even verified first if my phone was ready for download using normal method(manual click on UPDATE button thru ZUne) prior doing this trick. This was just to prove that this new method will really bypass the sceduling. The result was still 7.0.7008, so thank goodness the trick worked. It took several seconds for the DOWNLOAD to show after disconnecting WLAN. Now on 7.0.7390!!!
Singtel (Singapore) HD7

so any help
The updates have been taken offline for the Mango release, apparently.
Have the same problem. Flashed to stock to change language with registry editor, updated to 7008, and now it says my phone is up to date...should i wait, or is there anything to do to fix it ?
Ok, my problem is fixed now - found a solution:
1. Start Zune
2. Turn off Data connection and Wifi on the Phone
3. Connect the Phone with the PC (USB)
4. Start the update search in Zune
5. About 3 seconds later, disconnect your PC from the internet (Turn WLAN off).
6. Zune finds Update.
7. Connect to the internet again and press the update button.
Worked for me at the 3rd attempt. Hope it will help you as well mate.

I did the exact same thing yesterday and everything seemed to have worked like a charm. Some time afterwards it turned out that my firmware wasn't updated. It's still the one that came with the stock ROM I flashed. What about your firmware? Is it the Mango one or older?
At first it went from 7008 to 7392. Then i did this gain and got strange 7403. Having 7403 i didn't need to do this trick as Zune found an update for me and upgraded my phone to 7720 - so after two tries with the trick, and one normal update i got mango. Wonder why is this happening. Will check the firmware in a minute and post it here.
Ok, checked it and asked my friend who had the same problem - it seems that "forcing" the update leave us with old firmware. Fixed it by flashing it again with this official Mango ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254540
Now everything works great.
iwas have same problem yesterday .. but when tried those steps:
1* close zune >>>
2* look at following pictures
3*
4*
5* and then open zune and try 2 update ^_^
ihope it work with u
note :
it will better to flash .7004 rom and then start to update ...

I am using a factory unlocked HTC HD7 for international operators. Recently, I updated my phone to Mango. Before Mango, every thing was well. But now, I can't update and install Apps from marketplace over wifi . updates procceed till 50% and goes back. The error says: "my connection is too slow or update your device by zune and retry. My phone is up-to-date on Zune software. I cant even install apps thru Zune software via cable. I have been doing almost everything mentioned on forums like these for the last couple of weeks with no result. Could someone please please help me to resolve this issue???

Well Since You are on Mango, Soft Reset ur phone from Settings and check again.
Please backup ur data first
Did you mean hard reset?? I have done a hard reset from settings>about but still no change. It goes to 50% then displays "Attention Required. Tap here" and when i tap another message displays "There's a problem installing the application. Tap and hold the application, then tap retry. If this issue continues, try updating your device by Zune and try again." I have even restored my phone to a restore point available in Zune, but unfortunately it's a post mango restore point. I don't have a backup of pre-mango restore point

[Q] update while roaming

Edit:
worked with windows, after downloading over 500mb of whatever ...
Hi, (i tried to find something on this topic, but no luck ...)
I'm right now not at home, but saw the update and downloaded it. When i try to apply it, it says "f*** off, do it when you are home again"
Since i don't use Windows that often and i'm not familiar with the LG tools, is it possible to update the phone anyway?
Thanks.

Stuck in bootloop after october update

Hi everyone, this morning the OTA update notified me that the october update was avaible for my phone, i started the update and after then it was working perfectly. When i was trying to unlock the phone, it started having some trouble recognizing or my face, either my fingerprint. So i decided to restart the phone, but back then it is contiously turning on and off, and sometimes it says "Android is updating your apps". When it is on i can try to use it but there is nor notification bar neither the back, home button. If i try to connect the phone to the pc, it is recognized. Can somebody help me? It is the european model, with exynos, 128 GB and 6 GB of RAM.
(sorry for my bad english, it is not my native language)

I would get the current stock firmware files for your phone model and the current version of Odin onto your laptop. Then just flash over everything. Try dirty flashing first (without wiping) as to not lose any data. If that doesn't work, wipe everything while flashing. You'll lose all your data and will have to set everything up again.
I honestly wouldn't bother trying to sort this yourself (And potentially making things worse), I'd just go straight to Samsung, you shouldn't be having to fix their mistakes.

Now this is what I worry about! Samsung needs to do better than this! It's bad enough that we dont get OTA updates in time and to then mess up my phone while giving me an already late update is so not good. Hopefully some day, we will see a change ?. I will surely know to back up all my data before any updates.. for whenever it comes....
