[Q] Galaxy Mini (no 3G) - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hi Everyone,
I hope this is the right forum for the question, I've got my wife's Mini that I've flashed with TJ's Cyanogen release, everything went through just fine, and the phone is running much better then it was, the only problem is that I cant seem to get it to connect to the network via 3G, it will only connect via EDGE.
I'd appreciate any pointers in how to get this to work properly.
The phone was bought in Serbia, and was tested there with 3G, worked flawlessly, we reside in Canada and are on the Rogers network.
I've tried various network options via *#*#4636#*#* to no avail, it will only sync on EDGE.
Attached is the radio log from the device:

Many thanks in advance,
--aleks

i don't have that problem..
maybe you checked the "use only 2G networks" in settings-wireless&network settings-mobile network-uncheck use only 2G networks

nope, the 'use only 2G networks' is not ticked on.
Is there anything that I can force the phone to try and connect to 3G?

[Q] [SOLVED] Can't Get Data (3g) need help

PROBLEM SOLVED - DEFECTIVE SIM CARD. Thanks everybody !!!
Hi guys,
I really need your help with this one, here's the deal :

2. the phone came with 2.1 stock

4. my apn settings are correct (i have another sgs configured same way on same network)
5. decided to upgrade to 2.2 (JPH) hoped this would help - NO
6. updated MODEM & CSC to the SAME ones working on my second SGS - STILL NOT WORKING
what else could it be ???

Here's what's there, can you see what is wrong ?
Try this, worked for me
This is a weird coincidence. I have (had!) the exact same problem.
My problem was when I reflashed my galaxy S with stock firmware back again, I lost 3g connection. Using a different sim (which supports only Edge) I was able to get edge connection but with my sim, there was no connection.
Here's what I did. It seems when you select the band selection to "Automatic" it somehow didnt get registered properly even though it showed up on the settings->Wireless and network->Mobile networks->NetworkMode. Even though it read GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) it wasnt actually the case.
So - type *#2263# on your phone to enter the Service Mode's Band Selection.
There see if first row is [1] AUTOMATIC[] OR [1] AUTOMATIC[*]
In my case it wasnt selected ie. there was no *. So I clicked on it and did that selection myself and baam!! H connection. It connected even before I exited from service mode.
I tried a 2g and 3g card after that multiple times and it connects properly to E or H from then on.
Give it a try. I am hoping that your APN is set properly.
Anup
Thanks for the help, but unfortunately this didn't work :-(
1. Automatic was selected.
2. Ive tried to play around with the options there and within the mobile networks.
Nothing works ... this is so frustrating :-(

Why didn't you just call Vodafone and get their help before flashing the phone If you already have another SGS configured same way at the same location with 3G, then chances are there is a hardware problem with the phone.
Anyways, try contacting vodafone, they might still do something about it (despite the fact you have voided their warranty by flashing).

[Q] Help, SGS has no signal sometimes

My phone is from UK orange. my phone has great signal at home and office.
However, after I upgraded to Froyo JPO version firmware, my phone has signal in my office with 3G but has no signal at home and some other places where the 3g signal is weak or not working. This is very annoying. Please anyone can help me?
My original firmware: JP5/JP3/JP1
My current firmware: XXJPO/XXJPP/XAJPO
MY Production code: I9000HKDORA
Tonight I try to flash lots of versions from samfirmware.com but there is no signal for all firmwares.
Please can anyone help me? It seems that my current wersion does not support 2G signal???
Thanks in advance
can you check your IMEI in the phone (settings>about phone>status) and compare it with the IMEI indicated in the box (or remove teh battery and there should be a sticker at the back of teh phone with your IMEI).
Note: Also check if your APN settings are correct and complete. It might have been deleted or changed after the flash.
I have checked the imei, it is the same. The apn is orangeinternet, I think it is correct.
When I go to somewhere, the phone can be used with symbol of 3g or E or H, but at home only signal bar shown and emergency call only.

It is GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) selected.
I remember I can only choose 3G and wireless network when I just flash the FROYO JPO firmware...
It is possible that orange are working on the network. I had similar issues a few weeks ago (I'm in the southeast) bit is now fine. You could go see your local orange guys and ask.

[Q] Please help me, no 3g, then no data at all

I bought nexus one from my friend.
I am currently using HD2 with 3g data.
When I plugged in my sim card to the n1, it only worked with edge.
So, I seared internet for some information and I found out something about "*#*#6436#*#*" and change the setting to WCDMA only. Then the phone got no signal at all, so I changed back to WCDMA preferred. Then I did ping test but it did not seem to work very well.
Then I played with some APN setting and I realized that I lost data connection completely (phone still working)
I have tried to reset the phone but no luck.
Can anyone please help me with the problem? I am using T-mobile.
Thank you.
Pull your battery, and look at the back of your phone. At the top of the dark area there are numbers, look at the PB or FCC ID numbers. If they end in 9110 then you have an AT&T version of the phone, and the hardware will not work with T-Mobile's 3G service...

are you in the USA? you need to list your location. it is likely that you purchased the wrong version of the nexus one. there is an ATT version and a tmobile version. each only works with the proper 3G. so an ATT n1 on tmobile only gets edge, and vice versa. check which version you own.

[Q] UMTS/EDGE Question

I have a problem with my Galaxy Mini. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is only ONE version of the Galaxy Mini just different firmware, correct? Here's my problem, my phone is stuck on EDGE when its supposed to be on UMTS.. My GF and I both have the same phone, when I put my SIM in her phone I automatically get "H" and I rarely see "3G" (which is good). But when I put the SIM in my phone I ONLY get EDGE "E". Hers is from my countrys carrier and I got mine locally from a retailer unlocked (European Version). This is why I'm confused, if both phones are the same specs and everything why cant I get 3G/UMTS? I later found out we had different firmwares so I flashed mine with the same firmware as hers and still have the same problem. Could it be that I need to flash my Phone Modem with another one? (Idk..) All answers appreciated, Im desperate
Check if you don't have "Use only 2G networks" ticked.
Under mobile network connection there exist an option to only use 2g connections.
Take a look at. If the box is checked then unchecked it to use umts connections.
By the way. H connection is better than 3G.

I'd also like the point out that I'm computer savvy, I dont have "2G Network Only" checked
Maybe you can try to enter *#*#4636#*#* in the phone. You will get to Testing menu, choose Phone Information and then scroll down, there's an option like 'set preferred network' down there and you can choose WCDMA Only. Hope it helps...

Enabling HSDPA on Jelly Bean

Hello guys
I have been performing various rom installation on my Samsung Galaxy S GT i9000 but everytime it was only GingerBread Based roms.
The second i switched from to ICS and to CM10 JB now, the problem i have been facing is network mode option which is not present in GT i9000 when i was on ICS and also in the present CM10 JB.
I tried many thing but none worked
NOT WORKING
again tried to enter the code *#301279# but that also dint worked.
And my network is 3G enabled since i have tested the same sim on my another phone which is a SGS II running on stock ICS and 3G is working perfectly fine on it.
So basically to enable 3G on my I9000 i would need to change my network mode which at present is not available in my mobile network settings.
HELP ME OUT.........!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must say that you din't even helped me with your statement as i feel you haven't read my problem properly. We have the best network signal availability in my area at present and as i said 3G is working perfectly fine on my sgs II which i already mentioned because i'm able to select the network mode manually from the mobile network in wireless & networks settings.
And not to forget the sim i used for testing 3G on my SGS II in actual belongs to my secondary phone - SGS GT i9000 which is currently running rooted and Running on CynogenMod 10 which is in alpha stage,
And for the data usage on - dude i'm no noob to post this question without me knowing how to use a phone properly.
And hey i did have my data usage on but in that attachment the data usage was off and it was just to show that there is no network mode selection available in the mobile networks settings.
I HOPE YOU GET IT
