If this post helped you don't forget to say thanks!
thats been done if you got yours working what are you running ??
As I don't have a Hulu Plus subscription anymore I can't check but it may be similar to other apps like Google Video and Blockbuster where it detects if you're rooted. An app you can try is "Temp Root Remover" it'll rename SU to MU so other apps can't detect it and when you're done watching you can use it to rename MU back to SU.

I made this small app to download and install the latest update for the xoom for those of us that are rooted. It's very basic but works. Hope my 30 min is worth while
After install re-root by:
adb remount && adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
thanks
This will help many! Thank you.
Thanks JRummy worked like a charm
App worked like a charm for me. Took me a while to get adb loaded on my wife's laptop but otherwise smooth as silk..
3.0.1 and rooted and running at 1504.
Thank for the app!

Do we have a re root process yet after updating?
Wow! Thanks a ton, that was absolutely painless.

Wish I could make the program in 30 min...even a month. I tried to teach my self how to make apps but no luck. Not something my brain can learn as easy as other computer stuff

Worked like a charm. But I'm not near a computer for a couple days. Any way to re-root from the xoom using terminal emulator or the like?
Didnt work for me, same issue as the OTA update.
Xoom reboots, for a few seconds theres the android with the cogs, then suddenly it turns into download mode (android with ! triangle).
A few minutes later the xoom reboots and im back where i started... could it be my renaming lots of files in the /app folder?

That is exactly your problem.... you renamed system apps. Change the names back to the original and you should be fine.
Ended up flashing stock again and the update works. But was it the kernel or the app renaming i wonder... quadrant scores are seem lower than before 1700.

Not sure if this is 100% necessary.
I'm in Germany (thanks, Army), and came home to an update notification on my Xoom. I got excited about SD functionality and Flash, so I updated without thinking.
With the official 3.0.1 update, the only thing that I noticed was that SetCPU wasn't functioning due to loss of root user priveleges. I re-flashed rootboot.img (might have been unnecessary), and fixed the permissions on the su binary.
Maybe this is more of a problem for those of you who are stateside, but can anyone else confirm that this issue is as minor as the "fix?" Since we still need to drop down to a terminal, we might as well accept the update then fix permissions. I think maybe a script that combines these two tasks would better serve the community.

get it while it's hot
confirmed working on my pre-updated xoom.
Playon works with this. Playing Hulu and Netflix. Woot!!!
Can it work on a non rooted Xoom ? , if so how do I install it .

The way I sideload this apk it's: I put the downloaded apk in my dropbox folder on pc, then go to dropbox on Xoom, click on the apk it will download it and then ask's to install and you are done.
Other way it's with a file explorer.
I'm not rooted, yet........
It does work, but not well. My browser has crashed more in the past hour since installing it than the entire time I've had my xoom. I'm thinking that update from Moto may actually have some importantance lol.

Is the TV shows Stream Lite app working? You can find it free on market. You can watch tv shows from flash sites.
Thanks in advanced for the info.
Can someone in the us please pull the google music off the market and post it here for those of us who are not american?
Thanks in advance

Thanks, but doesn't work for me. If I use MarketEnabler, I can finde the music app in the Market, but it refuses to install, claiming that it's invalidly signed.
If I download the apk from the link above, package installer terminates with a simple 'not installed' message.

I get the same thing here after upgrading to Gingerbread (Overcome) - I used MarketEnabler to download it from the Market; happily running under Overcome 1.6.x (Froyo) but after Gingerbread all it does is force close upon running.

Yeah Google Music crashes each time since the Gingerbread update... Overcome and Stock too
Here too
Euro tab GSM, running GB overcome 2.0 beta 2
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I pinned down the crashes to two reasons:
Obviously Samsung built our 2.3.3 on rather outdated code and modified some pieces of the mediaprovider...
Usually, the Stock-Music apk allows access to the MediaPlayBackService and Google temporarily revoked access in 2.3.3, so Samsung thought it would be a great opportunity to **** around with the existing code and Changed some things in the Stock MediaProvider-Service thingy
That's the major reason why the Google Music Beta crashes in 2.3.3 but works great in 2.2
So it is not a "Google Thing", it is a "Samsung Thing" and Samsung would have to fix that.. We all know that this won't be likely to happen, so there are two possibilities I see here... We fix it ourselves or someone clever ports the MediaProvider including access to the MediaPlayBackService from the current CyanogenMod 7.something builds to the Galaxy tab. I tried and failed as the modules crashed on boot and I had to reflash the whole system
Anyone interested in getting that done? I'd do it, but I've too little time at the moment to get it done properly :-/ it shouldn't be that hard anyways, I guess...
Someone needs to make this work. I have all my devices working beautifully with Google music without a problem except on my galaxy tab running overcome 2.0.

Have you tried deleting the application data and reboot then? :-/ I used the official market version btw. but that shouldn't make much difference... as I pulled it directly after the install from my tab.

It should work if you install via Root Explorer (package installer) and reboot.

I installed it like any other app on cm7 rc11. Now works almost fine. I didnt use root explorer or anything else at all. Maybe the package has problems. Download it from android central stie or androidandme site and try again.
That was easy.
Downloaded from the multiupload direct link, installer ran it automatically, then it installed quick like a bunny.
Surprised that the app is pretty snappy now after a sluggish first impression.

I just installed it on my Motorola Droid 1. It works great! better than the old app market. This new is look SWEET!!!! This new app is awesome!!!
Have also installed it now, on top of iceandfire/CM7. Installed it normally (no Rootexplorer) and the market is working flawlessly.
Seems like this version of Android Market downloads to /cache instead of /sdcard/downloads (as in the CM version). Since I have dalvik-cache on /cache, downloads/updates for large apps fail :/

I don't understand something about this new market. How the heck am I supposed to update an app when there is only one app that has an update? I click the app and it says open, then I go back and it shows an update still. It doesn't show an 'update all' button like when there are multiple apps that have updates.
EDIT: The app, it insists on staying in the update available list even when it is already updated. The only way to resolve this was to reboot. This new market has some bugs that need fixed, as with any first release. The honeycomb market had quite a few issues as well when it first came out, but they have since then been resolved.
Isn't the new market slower than the current one for you guys?
i like the new markwt because of its design
Pulled this off of the Kindle Fire HD thread, seems to work fine on otter2.
1. Enable installation of applications from unknown sources in Kindle Fire Settings.
2. Install GoogleLoginService.apk.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the Google Apps.
5. Start YouTube. Sign In. It will take you to Google Account Manager to create/use existing Google credentials.
6. Same goes for other apps. In case sign in fails for any of the apps (except Maps/GTalk) drag down the Kindle Fire notification bar, click on the notification for "Permission requested....." and assign required permissions.
The files can be downloaded from here

Root and Gapps Working for me.
I was able to use the same Root Method that the HD uses to gain root on My Fire2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893838
After Getting Root I used this method to get the Market/Play Store working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893410
After I got both working I was able to install HoloLauncher HD. I moved it from data/app to system/app
and set the permisions to rw-r-r. A reboot gave me the option to select my default launcher.
I may not have a Custom Rom due to the locked bootloaders
but atleast I can enjoy a nice Android experience and use some of the Apps I purchased now.
