radio rom - which, how - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot find any threads related to this. is it correct that radio rom is a separate part than system rom? if so where do I download a good stable one and how do I flash it?
i have 826x rom and radio ver. 1.14.25.55 and I have poor 3g signal (switches to edge whereas other phones are stable on 3g same network) and also sometimes it looses signal completely so I usually have to reconnect m:anually (switch off and on the radio function)

yes radio rom is a sperate part than system rom.
You can flash it the same way like x826 rom and hardspl
here are the radio roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=720455

New radio ROM 1.38.00.11

I've extracted the radio ROM from 1.23.408.1 Italian Trinity ROM and packaged here as a standalone NBH radio upgrade:
TRIN_RADIO_1.38.00.11_Only_SSPL.rarThis radio has HTC_BOOT 0108 and GPS enabled.
To upgrade the radio connected the phone to computer through USB cable and activesync enabled, Des SSPL will be pushed into your phone when the RUU starts.
Remember that when flashing a radio only you don't need to hard-reset your phone, so no data will be lost.
Enjoy!
so could i use the original german htc rom and upgrade with this radio upgrade to gps-functionality?
or do i understand something wrong??
So what the change's for 1.35 to 1.38??
Thank's

@pof - Many thanks for this nice package !!
The upgrade worked well with latest DOPOD WWE ROM. Hope that this RADIO version will have some fixes for my 3G issues - in bad covered areas i get 3G calls but cannot answer with RADIO 1.35... hope this will be better with 1.38....
GPS in 1.38.... works fine like with 1.35....
Greets from Austria,
Gerhard
edit: doesnt fix my 3G / GSM problem with some incoming calls

I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer that yet but I believe you'd still need some kind of driver in the OS. Might be wrong though.
Our best option would be to get someone to dump a german GPS ROM from Vodaphone or Swisscom Trinity and make that flashable. I'm looking forward to this but know nobody who has one.
waht kind of update can we do ?
try to explain
after having downloaded the file .rar , I find in it 6 files
what should I do to update the radio rom ONLY and do not loose any other info ?? in practice , i do not want to do HR
thanks for any answer..!!!
maybe this is a stupid question, but i would like to know if only updating radio i'll have the gps working in my trinity? i have the htc factory rom with no gps...
Tks in advance
I have also a question, do I lose my waarenty by flashing rom with SSPL or in other words, will I be able to cahnge my device if it got any problemy with it like peeling or something else.

Yes you can upgrade but GPS will not work anyway.

No. I tried Radio 1.35 on my WWE HTC and even though the upgrade went ok GPS is still not operational.

You can upgrade the radio, but if you don't have the GPS drivers in your OS ROM you will not get the GPS functionality.

Connect your phone to computer using usb cable, make sure activesync is enabled (green icon) and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Radio upgrade doesn't enforce hard reset, so you'll not loose any data.

No, as said before, you need a ROM with GPS drivers, otherwise will not work.

This is an unmodified HTC radio, so you should not loose warranty by flashing it. You can always flash back your original radio using SSPL, as far as the phone is not bricked.

Yes... 1.23 is your ROM version, 1.18 is the RADIO ROM version which is going to be updated, it's only a radio, won't touch your OS ROM.

What is the best radio??

I've tested almost all radios in all roms, and I couldn't decide wich one is the best. Have you guys found that answer?
Thanks.
I need to change the radio ...
I need to change the radio in my ROM. How did u test the radios in different ROMS? Did install just the radio or did u have to install the whole ROM?
I tried to install the sim unlock and now my data won´t get HSDPA speeds. I think the problem is the radio version.
Any help would be greatly apprecciated.

Are you saying that the ROM's from other devices will work on the Treo 750? I thought this wasn't possible since it's different hardware.
If you can't there are only a hand full of radio ROM's to try, since there aren't that many Treo 750 ROM's out there. Or am I wrong on this one?

What will happen if I flash a different radio?

Kinda new here, so if this is an easy one, please dont flame me.
I've been reading about flashing to an HTC ROM, and want to get rid of the AT&T ROM I currently have.
However, I saw someone say "Be careful about the radio ROM" in a post somewhere (in one of the 47,192 that I've read today...)
I currently have radio ROM 1.27.12.11 - can I flash the radio to any other version to accomodate a different ROM? If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a US user so that I can use an HTC ROM?
Please let me know...I'm really confused by all of this stuff.....
Thanks.
- M
nothing will happen if you do everything right...theres a radio thread that lists every radio in the rom section....check it out
Just make sure if you flash to a WM6.1 Rom to flash to a 6.1 Radio. Have a look on the Kaiser Radio Wiki page. it should tell you which are for which, there is also a sticky in the Kaiser Rom Development forum that has a link to a thread all about Radio's.
If you flash to the wrong Radio, you may have trouble with no sound or wierd camera problems, dont worry, just flash to another radio 'til it all works again.
Thanks,
Dave
One more quick question about flashing ROMs....
SHould I remove my SIM and SDcard before flashing?

Precaution gets you further on this long and winding road of flashing.
Of course you should

One of these days, I'll learn to THINK before I flap my jaws.
Thanks again to all!!!
Two things to mention here off past experience. Firstly some of the radio downloads also contain OS roms for the phone, so if you want to only flash the radio then look around. As a guide a full rom with OS is around 55-60 mb as a download. A radio only rom is less than 10.
Secondly some of the beta 6.1 window OS will only work with a wm6 radio for example schap's 4.31.
There's a member called Alltheway who has all of these.

Original HTC Rom

Hi, i am very new to this game. However I have managed to unlock the sim, what I would like to do now is either flash the original HTC rom or Duttys. My question is do I have to flash a specific radio first or just flash. My current radio is 1 27 12 32 and I have hard spl installed.
Thanks

if you are flashing the original HTC rom that radio should be fine. However, if you flash dutty's rom's you need a radio that is compatiable with 6.1roms. search the forum or the thread that is associated with the rom you want to flash.
If the Radio you have is not compatable with the ROM you are using (very common on the latest ROM/radio releases) the OS will probably refuse to boot.
If this is the case, just load the bootloader screen and flash a compatable radio.
Most chefs lift the compatable radios in the 1st post.

Ey up...
I installed the nothrills ROM over my T-Mobile default one. I didn't even think about radio. It seems to work fine. Do I need to worry about this?
No, but you might get better reception/battery life with a more compatible radio
... am I right in thinking the Nothrills ROM changes the radio too? It seems to say it does on the forum page. Sorry for asking, but I'm not clued up at all about this kind of thing.

That's what it looks like.
If you look in "Device Information" you can see the versions you are running.
If it matches the first post then you flashed the radio.
Dave
Yep, it's flashed that too. Thanks for such a quick answer.

signal very low

haii,
i use radio 1.13.25.24
rom version grid evo 1.8 wwe
i stay malaysia
and i use spl 1.56 olenix
may be u all can do for me. how can settle this problem

I presume you refer to the phone signal in calls or data being low. You can try another radio. As radios are area specific though you may need to try a few to see which one gives you the best results in your area.
You can find more info and the different radio versions available here.

Glad to hear . If you change your radio, it is recommended that you should ideally flash the matching rilphone.
Excellent glad you got it sorted. Generally if you are getting low signal, best advice is to try another radio and match rilphone. All info can be found in link provided by ClydeB1 above
