yes exact same problem for me,
i googled it and it says we have to upgrade kernel

Try copying OC module manually with Root Explorer.

done this. no good. this module i have found to work with every other rom i have use'd but no good for gxp
should not need custom kernal. if anything kernal cause more problem than good in this early stage of development

Are you using stock SE kernel or what?

@ALL with the problem.
Check your baseband in settings>>about phone.
it should read something like this >> M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
if it isn't, i'ved attached the latest X8 stock kernel. just unzip and flash with Flashtools.
Edit: I just realized you're using GingerXperia. this particular ROM checks your baseband and will not install unless you're on 015. so, this might not help. But, there's no harm in trying.

As a followup:
Since you're using GX ROM. that means you're, rooted, jitted and Xrecvr'd (CWM'd).
Next, is your bootloader unlocked? Did you load any of the custom Kernel? because if you did, the only overclockable Kernel right now is FXP OC Kernel.
The OC Module only work with the Stock Kernel.

if kernel doesnt support oc.you need to install oc module by yourself editing hw_config.sh and push the module to lib/modules.
The 'overclocking is a procedure that can hurt your loved x8 ergo follow this guide at your own risk!
requirements:
- Rooted
- Banda Basic x15
- SetCPU
1) Download x8oc V004 http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...8&d=1302528982
2) Extract the file and copy it on the sd x8oc.ko
3) By RootExplorer x8oc.ko copied to / system / lib / modules
4) Always go through RootExplorer / system / etc, hold down the file menu and hw_config.sh which opens in selected Open Text Editor
5) At the beginning put this line
code:
insmod / system/lib/modules/x8oc.ko # x8 overclocking
6) Save the changes and restart the phone
hope i helped

As of now, there are no Custom KERNELS that support the OC, MDDI, UV and Gesture Modules, except the Stock KERNEL.
All Custom KERNELS, except FXP OC enabled KERNEL, have already embedded the aforementioned modules, except the OC module.
Most ROMS, except FXP, already have the Modules installed.
in short. Custom Kernels = no overclock
if you want OC and custom KERNEL then use FXP OC KERNEL.
The instructions provided above are for ROMS.

hi we got no custom kernal. my baseband has always been on xxx15 so no need to upgrade their for OC'ing. and to be honest we wouldn't even b able to have this rom on our phone if we didn't have that baseband.
@ nizoorox IGNORE everything the people have said to try and help. i already tried most of it anyway. no i am not unlock my bootloader and have custom kernal untill they are better developed.
NIZOOROX this is how we OC gingerXperia.. simple update to GingerXperia V010.
i did it last night and now i can overclock without doing anything special.
just go to cyanogen mod setting's - performance - cpu - then click overclock and select what Mhz you want t use

Best app for overclocking milestone

Hi am a new user to milestone wanted to know what was the best app to overclock milestone 1 milestone overclock 2 setcpu thanks am using The FroyoMOD v2.4.0c
If it works, the easiest way to do it is the Milestone Overclock app available in the market.
If it doesn't, then try the builtin scripts in Androidiani OR.
The last resort is to manually edit the files. That is strictly for people who know what they are doing, else you'll end up frying your phone.

try the script in androidiani, its work for me
FroyoMOD already has the overclock module. Just edit the 10overclock.
The easiest and likely to be the most secure way for an unexperienced user (if you don't set completely false values) is certainly Milestone Overclock..

I also believe this is the best way.
But the easiest one, especially for a non-experienced user is probably Milestone Overclock.
I think the best way is to edit 10overclock too.
But Setcpu can be an additional way to tune cpu versus the temperature or the battery level.
Milestone Overclock works like a charm.
I use setCPU with Smartass

The overclock flashable update zip file is inside the file that you download. So you need to extract the update file from the zip file that you download.
I have attached the 900-250 Mhz low overclock zip file for your use.
Hi, in 2.1 I used the overclock from market, but under 2.2 it does not work, it reboots the phone, so I use the mod applied by OpenRecovery 3.3
I remember that testing in 2.1 with under voltage I had problems with wiFi that have reduced distance conectivity. So using normal voltage wifi works fine for me.
So the "only" change that I does when overclocking is finally editing the script and only left the code that forces upper frecuency to stock voltage, and the others steps (like 250 or 400Mhz) I use the standard. Seems to work without problems with wifi or 3g.
Regards,
Claudio.
Working so nice!!! with that overclock! Thanks so much!

[Q] Please give me a little help on OverClocking... :(

I'm using the stock 2.2.1 rom and flash via RSDlite. The sfb file was from the top thread of this page. And when I use Androidiani 3.3 to overclocking my milestone, and reboot. The phone still running at 550Mhz. when I use Milestone Overclock to OC the phone, the phone can be overclock but without "steps". The phone can just have two frequency, 250Mhz and 1Ghz. Can anyone find out a prefect solution?
1. Is your phone root?
2. You can refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683451
1.yes
2.in milestone overclock it call me to use SetCPU...any other way to not using it?
Procedure to overclock stock 2.2.1 with AOR 3.3
Froyo 2.2.1 Modding Menu -> Install Mod - Conservative or Install Mod - Interactive
Froyo 2.2.1 Modding Menu -> Menu Overclock ( Choose the one you want )
Froyo 2.2.1 Modding Menu -> Install Mods Autostarts - not needed in many roms
Reboot Phone
ha great!! it works!! thanks!!
one more thing to ask, can I know the voltage level of the overclock setting? where can I edit it?

[Q] GingerDX v021 works but CPU Clock changing does not work

Hello,
i have installed Ginger DX v021 and "Modules for stock kernel" by using xRecovery.
This is great.
There is only one thing that does not work. I cant change the CPU frequency.
Can anybody give me a hint how to solve this problem ?
Thank you
MarcWilmots
you need to install oc module (it isn't in the "modules for stock kernel" zip) by copying it to /system/lib/modules and you should delete x8uv.ko too
after that you need to install setcpu, it's a good app for changing frequencies
Thank you. It works.
But I didnt find x8uv.ko.
Does it mean "Modules for stock kernel" are not (correctly) installed ? Or are they located somewhere else ?
Um....I have to delete x8uv.ko? I don't think I did it. I just paste overclock file and add a few scripts to hwconfig.sh then done! Ready to use.
Hit the THANKS button if I helped!

Now I have installed "Modules for stock kernel" via CWM and now I find them on my phone.
On my phone are the Modules and extra the oc modul but it seems to be running fine.
Thanks so far for your advice.

can't overclock more then 748mhz using nAa11 nd custom rom xperience v4

oh dear, if you cant overclock more then, you cant overclock more! Its just tough luck mate
More is not a good idea for daily use... You will get some lag in multitasking..
Best for daily use (to my point of view) is 122 / 729.. More my phone was very laggy sometimes..
how to overclock in the first place?
can someone please give me the link on how to do it??
thanks!
Bah,
Go on parameters > cyanogemmod > performance > CPU : select your frequencies, check overclock and keep on boot and reboot.
If you've got the good kernel (as naA), that's all
i'm using gingerdx v22 with stock kernal
and i can OC it To 787
but i prefer 748 or 768
it's just luck!
but 748 is good, isn't it? at least for me
You can try and play with various governors,i think some go higher....
Guys, in general, there are 2 kinds of X8 concerning hardware.
If you got lucky, then you can overclock your X8 up to 806.
On the other hand, if you are unlucky (like me), then you will NEVER be able to have a stable OC over 719. It is just a matter of hardware
i could see the min and max frequency, but i can't edit it..
when i press it,it only shows a cancel button..
is it because i have a locked bootloader?
been searching yesterday about unlocking bootloader, and it's too risky(well, i've had enough rooting my x8.. LoL)..
and regarding to the governors lists, the frequencies does not changed even though i chose a different one..
needless to say, it's still 122-600Mhz..

or no..for me it's the same..but i use alfs and i can go up to 768mhz..in nAa i only can 748mhz..
then OP, CHANGE KERNEL!
I don't think you can overclock with stock kernel
You need to unlock your bootloader to have a custom kernel. Then you'll can overclock

Follow the steps in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1020313) and then you will be able to overclock your X8, even without unlocked bootloader.
if ever i did it, and somewhere in time i want to return to the old one, could i just delete this module??will the phone frequencies return to default??

Yes, you can delete it, but not necessarily. You can change the frequencies manually in Settings > CyanogenMod > Performance > CPU, or you can either install SetCPU to control them, so you can keep the module if you want to overclock it again later.
I can Oc to 691mhz only ....
guess am the most unlucky here... ;(
I can overclock to 729 mhz!!

anyway, when I went from v22 to v23b, the x8oc.ko on the module folder has been deleted..so i guess(not really sure) that it would be deleted when you install another rom..

[Q] Droid a855 overclock in 2013

first off let me say i am not new to rooting or overclocking. i have a original droid a855 and i have rooted it and want to over clock it, but the problem is that all the downloads i could find were megaupload links and we all know about what happend to that. so i was wondering if anybody knows where to get the evilboot kernals or is there and other over clockiing methods that will allow over 800mhz, Please help!!!! Thank You
Give this a try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pt.com.darksun.milestoneoverclock
tried that
i already tried that and it only lets me get to 800mhz which is still better than 550mhz, but i want 1ghz. i started with this guide, it wont let me post a the link but if you google droid a85 overclock scroll down and click on the one that starts with *release* that is the guide that im trying to use
but all the links are megaupload i got the evilboot1ghz but i cant find the flash image indicated in the guide. and i flashed sp recovery and then it would not recognize the battery so i then i flashed FRG89G and that fixed the problem. but the cause of the problem was that i used a 2.1 sp recovery on a 2.2.3 install. So what i need is the 1ghz flash image that is in the guide and a sp recovery that will work on 2.2.3 please help. Thanks
Have you checked the custom roms for the droid? I'm not really aware of them as I own a Milestone, but in the Milestone CM roms, there is an option to set the min/max cpu values. It's easier and more safe than flashing all kind of hacks.
ya............

I would recommend taking a look at Prime's deprimed kernel which can be downloaded from here, it allows you to customize the overclocking, voltage, etc. When my Droid 1 was my daily driver phone I used Prime's De-primed kernel and it offered excellent performance running at 1.0 GHz, other people have been able to stably set it to 1.25 GHz as well. For more information on Prime's De-primed kernel and how to use it's features I would recommend checking out this thread.
Sorry it took me so long to get back, That looks very promising and i guess ill try it out
ok so im running cm7 and i flashed the prime kernal and went to the terminal and typed "su" enter that works then "overclock" enter, says command not found. i tried reflashing the kernal, does the same thing. please help!!!

Your sure you flashed the kernel zip in recovery correctly right? I would also take a look at this post here from Prime that tells you how to use his kernel it's possible that the other features and scripts of his kernel will work for you.
i have clock work mod recovery and i install the zip from there and the i tried the comands but it didnt work, but in setcpu or the cm7 performance settings it will allow 1ghz and the bumblebee governer. So i dont know if i should just use that or what???????

If you see that options to use the 1 GHz clock speed and bumblebee governor are available in SetCPU then you can use SetCPU and that should work fine. SetCPU is what I always used to use to tweak Prime's de-primed kernel after flashing the kernel.
Thank You for the help , ive been running it at 1ghz and bumblebee for a while now and it is sooooooooooooooo much better than stock
