[Q] Install new ROM 2.3

Hello,
I try to install new ROM the my first time (and also try to backup my ROM)
So I root my phone (I hope I did it )
and I install ROM Manager .
I download ROM Ultibread-V1.4.ZIP and copy to the root of the SD.
When I open the ROM manager and select to backup my ROM or select Install ROM fro SD Card and get into recovery mod I'm getting only the following options:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip (this all the time give me error that the file is corrupt even if I download and copy new file
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
format internal sd-card
How can I solve that ?
An easy alternative would be to flash any Froyo Kernel. It would give you Clockwork Recovery directly. You just have to boot into recovery and apply the ROM.
Thats because stock rom can not run unsigned update.zip.
Try to flash speedmod or ultimate kernel via ODIN.
But please make sure that you have 2e or 3e recovery before you use ODIN
Flash cf root in Odin. This will give you 2e recovery which you need to install zip files. Then flash speedmod Odin version and you should have working cwm.

hi dude,
what I would suggest is using Darky's rom ressurection edition
i had the exact same prob but it got solved
it's a little difficult but you shouldn't get stuck if u follow the instructions well
link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940671
this should work
I think I'll wait with flashing Gingerbread for Darky's rom based on it Wouldn't change that for anything else!

[Q] Plz help! Screwd up my Captivate while re-installing Latest CM7 nightly Build181

Help Needed.Looks like i screwed by Samsung Captivate.
here is what i did :
My captivate was running cyanogen mod 7 (nightly build cm_captivatemtd_full-181)
I wanted to re-install CM7 and did the following:
1)Phone already had the copy of the same build in root directory which i used for cm7 install for the first time
2)I kept the phone in download mode and Used ODIN to flash the Kernel. It went through successfully.
3)I used the three button technique and tried to install the Build which has failed with 'assert failed:getprop (" some blah blah) saying finally installation aborted.
Not sure if i should have recopied the build to the phone instead of using the same existing build in the phone
4)Though the installation failed...my phone is not booting up and when i reboot.. the phone is hung with a message 'galaxy S scg-i897 Samsung' and doesnt boot up.
Please help on how to recover my phone to a normal state.
4)
This should be in CM7 thread. Did you try going back in to recovery? Try to get in recovery and factory reset+wipe cache and wipe dalvik and reflash?
I did all the steps you have mentioned in recovery . May i please know what do you mean by reflash?
you mean again i have flash kernal and install CM7 ?
Also as you know the i cannot copy any build to the phone as phone is booting up . Do u mean i have to use fresh build instead of the one which is there since my first cm7 install..
please suggest.Thanks for you reply.
If you can get in to cwm and you have a cm7 rom in your sd card, then you can attempt to reflash the rom. IF that's not possible ODIN back to a "stock" and start all over.
^Or...If you can get to cwm...you can mount the sdcard, in mounts and storages, and transfer what the hell ever you want over from your PC to your phone. Like a fresh download of cm7 for example...
sorry i know i am taking your time .
i am very new to these techincal words..
1)can you please help me how i can go into cwm ?
2)How to ODIN back to 'Stock'?
Thanks.

CWM= ClockWorkMod its the modified recovery used to do a whole bunch of things one being flashing roms.
If you don't know how to use ODIN then you shouldn't be messing with AOSP's or flashing for that matter.
Read First thread
Captivatte Directory thread <- lots of guides there.
How to Gingerbread thread
All of these are stickied and you should understand most of them to flash "safely"

erm what you mean by Flash Stock Rom again with Odin thank you,
try re-flashing CWM first as I had same problem but flashing CWM again fixed it (I always have CWM as zip file on my sdcard just in case)
Try to flash the stock rom first via Odin. Install CWM via Odin and flash the CM ROM via CWM. All with the last build. It should works to fix the problem.

[Q] Installed Custom Rom.. Cant do nothing with Phone Now .. pls help !

My Phone is Samsung GT-S5302 ( Galaxy Y Duos Lite ) .
I recently rooted my phone without any trouble.. And then moved on to install a custom rom.
But the rom i downloaded was for another Galaxy y and not my same version..
When it was installed, camera, wifi, settings, practically everything didnt work.. couldnt call.. and no play store installed. The WORST part is my usb storage nor my external memory card is being detected on my phone or on pc..
Before installing the custom rom , i read to backup the stock rom in case of situations like this.. But When i used rom manager it said no cwm mode available for your device .. and i couldnt make a backup. NO STOCK ROM BACKUP :/
Thinking the custom rom would work, i installed it anyway.. and this happens..
I checked the other threads here.. and then tried to reinstall the stock rom.. I searched for a stock rom for my model and downloaded one which i think is the right one..
I went to download mode on my phone and flashed the stock rom that i downloaded using odin [ it is not the real one as i did not make any backup ]
Then the phone rebooted and the samsung logo came up.. and does not move from that screen..
So technically the phone doesnt start now..
Should i install gingerbread manually as well ? if so how to do that ?
1) Is there any way i can get my phone back ? or is it permanently f'd up ?
2) is this what u mean by a bricked phone ?
dont care if its a stock rom or a working custom rom.. .. I just want my phone to work again..
Got it Fixed
turns out i only soft bricked my phone..
After wiping the cache it worked again.. so .. problem solved..

What Do you mean by "keeps restarting" Bro, Is it stuck on the bootanimation?
If your phone doesn't get pass boot animation and reboots, then there's only one way to fix it. Your personal files and data would be gone but I'm sure it's backed up with your google account. Watch this and follow the instructions. Installing a stock firmware using ODIN. Hope it helped

Are you currently using a stock rom or a custom rom? Anyway you can solve this problem by just flashing back the stock rom using odin. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin along with all firmwares and drivers (check the "Preparations" section),
Flash stock rom on Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 using odin
If your PC cannot recognize the phone, its usually the drivers. Once installed, go to recovery mode (hold power+ Home button) and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM 5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace. Just flash them from the recovery mode (choose "install zip from sdcard" and then select the zip file from sdcard).

The Apocalypse you are referring to is the custom rom that is installed in your phone. When you bought you phone, you had Samsung's version of Froyo/ Gingerbread installed in your phone. That rom is called stock rom. Custom roms are build by developers using cyanogen mod sources. Now you keep having restarts and since clearing data and cache from CWM didn't solve it, I suggest you install another rom. Now this is where you have to make a choice. You can either install a stock rom (stable, nice battery backup, etc) or a custom rom (fast, performance oriented, customizable, etc). Before you do install another rom, backup all app data using Titanium Backup. If you choose Stock rom, then follow my previous post on how to install stock rom on your phone. Now if you choose custom rom, then first we need to update CWM 4 to CWM 5.
CWM 5.0.2.6 fix for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830
Download the CWM 5 zip file to SD Card and reboot your phone to recovery mode (Power off then hold Home+ Power button). Now choose "Install zip from SD Card" and choose the zip file. Done! You have successfully installed CWM 5. Now time for you to install a new custom rom. Refer the following guide for all the custom roms for our device,
Know your Device:Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 ~Root~Odin~CWM~ROM LIST
For time being use any Gingerbread roms. Download it to SD Card and then reboot to recovery mode. Now choose Wipe data/ factory reset, Wipe cache partitions, Advanced> Wipe dalvik cache, Wipe battery stats, Mounts & Storage> Format /system. Now select "Install zip from SD Card" and choose your rom zip file. Reboot and you can use your new rom. Whenever you want to install any new custom rom, just follow the same procedure. Now as for the low internal memory problem, we might have a solution. But the catch is it requires a rom with init.d support (something all custom roms have and stock roms doesn't ) and an ext partition on SD Card. First backup all the SD Card data. Now go to CWM> Advanced> Partition SD Card> Size (Max 1GB, anymore and system will lag)> Swap (0MB) and wait for it to say "Partitioning done". Now download and place CronMod script (try INT2EXT+ as it is the most stable of all) to SD Card. Now again go to CWM> Mounts & Storage> Mount /system then flash the Cronmod zip from CWM. Reboot and you are good to go. Now go to Settings>Storage to see the newly increased internal memory. Here is the link,
CronMod-INT2EXT

Next time, post it in the correct section, thank you for understanding it
Follow @mahithm instructions to flash a fresh STOCK rom and the next tine DON'T USE CWM 4x, it's outdated, there are several recovery systems based on CWM 5x, they're the most stable for a daily usage and they're required to flash most of the custom roms
