Not sure if its possible but if you really want to get into developing i suggest installing ubuntu onto your computer. Or just run virtualbox and create a virtual machine running either windows or a linux distro.

signing it only requires java, so it's multi os.

Could someone convert this for me please?

Hey guys. Running a bit tight on technology these days and cant seem to get cygwin to work, so I'm without a linux prompt.
Would someone be so kind as to convert this image for me to a usable boot image? Thanks in advance.
Again...would have done this myself if I still had my laptop *sigh*
Also. What's the Ubuntu setup that allows you to run ubuntu from a disc rather then an installation? I figure I might be able to use that in place of my laptop for a while.
Thanks guys.
EDIT: Just realized it converted it to a jpg and didnt upload the PNG .
Here's a link to the PNG: http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s20/SpartusTana/Splash.png
NVM, I found a VM program to run linux on, so I got it converted just fine. yay!

Flashing with MTTY through Ubuntu?

Hi, I have recently moved away from windows to ubuntu as i hate the thought of being bound to it.
I often flash ROMs and always use the MTTY format tool before i flash.
I could probably fudge running MTTY from the microsd to format but the trick would be how to remove the nbh file so that i could put a rom nbh onto it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Cheers
am i the only one on ubuntu?
oh well i suppose i can use a micro sd adapter. cheers for the input guys.
I am an avid user of Ubuntu. It seems the major "windows" based phones around here, kind of prohibit users from being Ubuntu capable.
I have recently tried flashing my TP2 from VMware running XP on Ubuntu. I cannot get "task 29" to run from SDcard, and was looking for some MTTY help to send it the command or something.
I run Ubuntu 10.04 on all my machines now, and had found a XP HDD laying around in the past to flash my TP2 to firestorm. I just did not format. My friends TP2 with identical firestorm(he has slightly newer radio and ran task 29 before flashing) runs like lightning to my phones thunder. Don't have windows anywhere now...
Meanwhile the newest firestorm supports MP4's...
Either or, if you could leave me some insight on flashing from mtty in Ubuntu, I'd love to be able to continue flashing.
Moved to Q&A, and title changed slightly
Easiest way is to copy the NBH to mem card, and flash via SPL if you all ready have H-SPL, if not, flash H-SPL at a friends house and then flash NBH Rom
Good Luck

Developer Registration Tool w/o full SDK?

Long story short...I have a legit Windows Phone Developer account and I want to unlock my Lumia 920. I know the unlock tool is part of the WP8 SDK, but the only problem is that the SDK requires Windows 8 64-bit. As of now, the only Windows 8 install I have is on my Samsung tablet, so I can't install it on there since its not 64-bit.
Is there a way to just get the registration tool without installing the 1.5+GB SDK? Or is there a way to do it from Windows 7?

Try this. Idk if it works, but give it a shot anyway! Extract the files and put it in a folder, then run the exe.

unfortunately this doesn't work, as it states we need a zune-connected phone. and the lumia 920 doesn't connect to zune
RE: register phone
Why don't you use a vmware image of windows 8 where you can install the sdk on it. I use the same method as I have a macbook. for win phone 8 dev I use vmware.

I think the zip doesn't work but not because it needs a zune connected phone. Instead the issue is that the tool is probably missing some common files or something like that. It asks to connect the phone to the computer and points at a potential problem with the windows phone passthrough service (although there is no problem because the device can be browsed perfectly fine).
I wish I could at least install a XAP to my WP8 devce on Windows 7...Is THAT even possable ?

Sorry for bumping this old post, but I had been having issues registering/unlocking my Windows Phone 7 Lumia 710 recently to develop.
Using Windows 7 SDKs, the registration tool with it just wasn't working - I was getting the good old "Error logging into the App Hub. Please check your Windows Live ID and password and try again" message.
Even contacting Windows Dev Support couldn't resolve this - apparently its a known issue theyre working on just now!
Long story short, I found this thread - and tried the zip file you linked and it worked! I was able to register my phone through that file instead of the registration tool that came with the SDK. So thank you very much!
Worked for me too. Thanks a bunch !!
