[Q] Audio on videos always out of place? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every time I play a video file that I didn't record with the camera, the audio is always behind the video and it's really bothersome.
Running Serendipity 7.

I have a solution
SOLUTION
The best solution I found was to use the VLC Media Player app.
It's still in alpha, but it's the best video player out there. (direct download)
Now there may be times where the video still loses sync with the audio (most of the time when you tap the screen during playback). All you need to do then is to skip to a random point in the video and skip back, or reload the video.
It's a pain, yes. But it's the best we can do for now. Maybe it will get better when the Beta/full version of VLC player is released.

video playback on PC-No sound?

I use vlc media player to playback recorded videos on my pc, and all the videos of my son have no sound. This happened on the kaizer too and it was due to a copyright issue w/ the codecs htc use.
Has anyone found a work around for this?
Anyone?
Googling on the web reveals nothing? Surely others must be annoyed by this too?
GSpot says Audio codec: 'samr: AMR Narrowband' - could not find anything suitable for PC though and just ran out of time...
This is truly terrible
Would you have a phone with photos that can only be viewed on that phone on and not shared?
Why would these idiots use codec that makes it impossible to share videos with sound with any PCs?
How incredibly stupid of HTC?
I think it's a licencing issue with VLC itself - it can't play the SAMR AMR audio codec. I discovered this accidentally after emailing a vid to the missus who discovered she couldn't play it on her Macbook (using VLC). One of the threads I read about it is here.
I use mediaplayer classic and the K-Lite codec pack from free-codecs.com on my (windows-based) laptop and have no issues at all.
so you must have some codec able to play this... have you tried opening Diamond-Vids with other applications like vlc or maybe a conversion tool (like if one would like to convert to an flv for upping to web).
Also in your K-Lite there is a GSpot could you check what it shows in 'Audio' (check screenie)
THX
ive been trying ot find a codec to get videos to work too.... well, video works but theres no sound on video files recorded with the diamond... ill give the klite pack a try i guess
if you manage to get sound - it would be great if you could check which codec is used ... thx!
same problem here
I have tried out every player under the sun (yes vlc too), updated several different codec packs, and still have the same problem.
I know that there is sound encoded in the files, because when I play them on the phone there is sound.
I have a friend with the same phone, and he also has the same problem.
I have recorded several lectures, and it would be fantastic is someone can find a fix for this.. my intention was never to watch the videos on the phone.. otherwise i'll just end up cross-eyed.
Any help much appreciated.
Mike
SOLUTION - GOM Media player
Plays them all fine
Good luck
http://media-convert.com/convert/index.php
go there and convert the file to a .mov or what ever format u want, and sound will work

Coreplayer YouTube not working?

YouTube works fine in Opera and the Streaming Manager app but in Coreplayer Mobile it just constantly brings up the loading symbol when selecting a video.
Anyone else have this or know a fix? I am on Jacks 1.3 Lite ROM with the YouTube registry fix installed.
That's strange. Youtube works for me in Coreplayer. I am also using Jack's Lite Rom 1.03. I did not try if it works in Opera though.
You got to activate networkaccess in corplayersettings for youtube

It is ticked already
I can't get Youtube to work in Streaming Media
Have you tried ticking flv box in the file extensions/
I got an email from CorePlayer makers saying there is a bug and they are fixing it in the next release
I have come across a problem with Coreplayer and its YouTube, so I have decided to use this thread instead of starting my own using the same title.
Coreplayer plays YouTube movies. No problem with that, even more it plays them in excelent quality (setting h264 medium quality, flv high bandwidth). But for some reason it cannot stop them. When the video is over the loading sign (rotating circle) appears and the screen freezes. After a couple of seconds I hear audio as if the video started to play all over again, but the screen is still frozen on that last frame. When I press any button the audio stops as well and that is that. There is no other solution than removing the battery, which annoys me greatly.
Does any of you have the same problem and have you been able to solve it? Coreplayer plays youtube with the highest quality by farand would really like to see it work properly.
Anybody else with this wierd Youtube problem?
Except that it freezes my phone like, every 5 minutes, it works fine i guess.
Too bad I have to reset my phone every time, because if i wouldnt had to, it would be a good piece of software.
Using Coreplayer 1.3 btw.
Well I am pretty disapointed as well. The video playback of original divx files is jerky and if I have to encode I might as well encode to a file media panel recognises. And now the youtube thing. There are still podcasts, I hope I will not come across a problem there.
huh?
i dont get it... my coreplayer plays youtube great, and divx great... i did have the youtube option dissapear mysteriously, but i re-enabled it in the network setting and its worked great ever since...
ive watched 2 movies in divx - one was a fast paced action movie and it played absolutely perfectly the whole time. maybe you need to have certain settings ticked, or maybe the fact that ive used the various tweaks in this forum to speed up my sd card, and to optimize my cache settings and such is helping...
more info may help resolve this...unfortunately i dont know much technical jargon.. i fiddle until things work.
I got my core working again with an update, but the standalone youtube player and panel is MUCH easier and better to use.
Hi, i work with an HTC Touch Pro 2 and on it with the newest CorePlayer. But i can not watch any Youtube Videos. I can search, and browse the different categories. But when i want to start a video the player gets back to the starting screen.
The "normal" video playback works fine.
Why? Anybody else with this problem?
PS: I have activated the network settings.
Youtube has made a change to how their protocol works. CoreCodec knows about the isue and they said they have alreay fixed it on an internal build. Sadly we will probably have to wait a very long time for the fix to be released.
here, some videos work, some others not, like the 70% of them, just try to open but stop downloading without image
Anybody else getting this problem again?Youtube videos stopped playing for me since tuesday,i'm running coreplayer 1.3.6 windows mobile.
Yes same her, my CorePlayer 1.3.6 stopped playing Youtube end of July.
Is there any update out there?
Yep, doesn't work...lame

Video encoder

Has anyone with a diamond tried this encoder? It works incredibly smoothly on mine but the problem is, the sound is always out of sync, it lags behind the video slightly, even when I play the converted video from my pc. Just wondering if it's a problem specific to the diamond or if you've had success with it. I've tried loads of settings, decreasing video and audio bitrates, normalising audio, lower resolutions down to 320x 240, VGA and WVGA with no success in synching the audio track.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467112
No problem....
I've been using this encoder for a while now with no issues at all. I've only been converting flash videos (.flv), so I don't know about any other formats

Actually, converting those videos with encoder causes audio to be out of sync when just playing from my pc, so yeah, doesn't seem to be a diamond issue.
Another thing. I've got core player 1.2.5 now, and that's working very smoothly too, but the audio is also out of sync ( playing on the phone itself) playing flv files or anything (not converted with encoder), but not nearly as much, only by a millisecond or two, but noticeable. What is it with me and audio out of sync.
Ok, I've messed around with the manual A/V offset +/- settings in core player. I've set it to different numbers, and on a couple of videos, one flv and one wmv, at -0.550 the audio syncs perfectly. I thought I had it sorted but other flv videos are still out of synch to different degrees. I don't want to have to keep changing the A/V offset for each video. Can anyone help me further? I'm sure it's the A/V offset function that is the cause but also solution for this problem. I can't tell if it's to do with audio bitrates, video bitrates or other video/audio encodings.
EDIT: YES!! I found the right setting.
-0.200 and every single video in perfect sync with audio. Core Player, what an awesome app, it's got loads of settings to play around with. Smooth as f... video.

Video Player?

Do we have a video player for android? Its disappointing that there is not ONE decent video player for the Android.
theres a default video player with the phone framework. if you have astro file explorer or similar, you find your video on your sdcard and it will play great in a default player. theres also meridian player. if you update to JacHeroski the HTC video player in that ROM is awesome!
with LukLuk you can stream movies online, i think it will play videos off your sdcard too. I havent tried playing anything off the sdcard yet though...
Cinema has a great interface, Meridian works well also (though one of the last updates it messed with my stock music player when I set it not to be the default for the headset buttons, and it's idea of random music playback is a joke - it makes a single shot randomly sorted playlist - instead of randomly selecting upon skipping tracks).. So, I am sticking with Cinema now.

[Help] Audio out of sync with recorded video when playing on computer

Hey all,
I am using a Droid Turbo XT1254 Android 5.1 with kernel 3.10.40;
I recorded an HD(720p) video of a buddies proposal and I would like to edit it for him as it looks really great!
The problem is when I export the video out and plug it into video editing software on my computer, the audio loses sync with the video and is near impossible to fix. Has anyone else had this issue and is there any known work around?
I'm very worried that this video was all for not.
Thank you!

Does the audio become more increasingly out of sync (2 seconds, 3 seconds, 4 seconds) or is it consistently a set amount (like 1 second) the entire clip?
Have you only tried to play it on one piece of software? Drag the video to your desktop, click on it and play it with WMP, VLC, Media Player Classic, etc. When you play it normally in Windows Media Player, VLC or any of the other free dozens of media players, does it play OK? If so, then your video editing software is to blame. It's not a "phone" issue, it's your video editing software.
If it's out of sync even when playing it with a computer program video player -- not your video editing software but WMP, VLC, Media Player Classic, etc -- there's still ways to fix it.
1) If it's any good, your video editing software will have audio sync options. That's a standard task in editing video, to fix audio lag called "lip sync" issue.
2) you can always re-edit the audio -- just like you would with a piece of music you might want to start at a certain point. (if it's consistent in the amount it's out of sync). You would just edit the audio track to be offset by the amount of time you wish.
3) try another video editing software.

Thanks for your response!
The audio becomes increasingly out of sync as the video goes on. I was using adobe premiere pro as well, I did try to re-edit the audio back in to sync up with the video, however because the rate of change is increasing throughout the video, it is near impossible to line things up correctly.
I will try another video editing software tonight, do you have any suggestions? I just need to have the video playing with a smaller video playing(Picture in picture style).
Is this a known problem or have you never experienced this?
Thanks!
I was hoping it was a simple, constant value for the delay.
I was also hoping it could be repeated using any video player ( which would mean the problem was actually with the file, not the editing software). In which case I was going to suggest something like this:

You still haven't said whether it plays fine in other video players (not editing software, just players).
But the increasing variability of the time worries me.
To give you an analogy, when I add subtitles file to a TV show or movie, if one is PAL (25 frames per second) and the other is NTSC (29.97 frames per second), then the subtitles will be increasingly out of sync the further into the file as it plays.
I have software that will let me do a "visual sync", but that doesn't work if the rates are not the same.
That's just an analogy, because your audio/video shouldn't be on two different standards like that.
So, I'm curious, when you play it with VLC (free) or Classic Video Player (part of the K-LITE Mega Codec Package (free), is the video/audio out of sync?
If it plays fine in another video player, then there's just some messed up setting in your Adobe editor.
