Yes. The Galaxy Mini - Galaxy Pop . It's called Pop in asia i think. Now for rooting what Android version do you have?

Android 2.2.1

Use Superoneclick

Nope bacause you have froyo. Gingerbreak is Gingerbread androids only!
Use Superoneclick as Hari sugested!

Kk bcoz on my optimusone i used gingerbreak

Upgrade to stock ginger bread first using odin from a pc. Then flash cwm. To root froyo, all you need is upd_1.zip

U can use tutorials on this blog

That's not true! As we speak, gingerbreak doesn't work on the galaxy mini.
upd_1.zip also works on gingerbread. Just rooted with it after an upgrade to 2.3.4.
But, for froyo it's best to use superoneclick.
If considering upgrading to GB, i'll attach the zip-file.
Here's my little guide on how it works:
1. Download the attachments to this post.
2. Put upd_1.zip on the root (On top, not in a folder) of your SD-card.
3. Boot into recovery. (When phone is powered off: Home-button + power) (Now you'll root your phone.
4. Use the volume buttons to highlight 'apply update from sdcard', then press home to select.
5. Use volume buttons to highlight 'upd_1.zip', then select with the home button.
6. Press home button to 'reboot system now'. Your phone is now rooted.

is it safe & for froyo ?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium

Well, it's always on yourown risk. But, it's very unlikely for something to happen. But, use SuperOneClick root for froyo, works better that way.
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda premium

i tried but it says it cant, bcoz it says cant find frm sd card..

You have to select it. It's not update.zip... But, another file.

Superoneclick is the method I used that worked. It's an app on your computer that u run
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
z4root is so convenient and easy to use but unfortunately doesn't work on all firmwares. In my experience, you have 2 options:
1) Use SuperOneClick. It's a desktop app and has worked for me on all firmwares that z4root doesn't. The disadvantage here is that your recovery still won't allow you to run unsigned update.zip files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
2) Install a custom kernel that includes root, 2e recovery and other features. There's a bunch in the dev forum but here are 2 examples:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774500

Hrmm. I haven't seen that although I've not read up on JPY. I understood that JPY was (VERY) similar (or the same) as JPU and I know SuperOneClick works with JPU. Check the oneclick thread for updates on JPY.
i have root on jpy, you can get it by flashing cfroot as PDA..
or flash hardcore kernel as PDA and use simple root + bu on the recovery menu..
it should work.. it did by me
I shall give it another try and will post result. Thanks everyone

Update

Hi guys I got moto milestone running 2.1 any ideas on how to get custom ROM on the phone and whenever I check my software update on my phone out says ' unable to connect to the server ' , tired of seeing this pop up everytime . PLZ help
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
If you want to upgrade to stock 2.2.1, you can flash them using rsdlite. List of stock 2.2.1 rom's is available below.
http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone221
You can also use Motorola software update to upgrade.
For custom roms, you will need to flash VR first and then use AOR to flash the rom.

If you are referring to ROM Manager by Koush, don't use it. It is for the droid, not the milestone.

You have to press Volume Up and then the camera button
... or the other way around
Then you'll get a menu, use the volume buttons to select "Apply update.zip"
But this will only work if you've already copied the AOR update.zip to your SD card.
Which is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796679
And here's a tutorial i used on my Milestone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698059
i followed the steps but it aient working
what is meant by " Now we need to put the open recovery on your SD card, so extract all the content from Androidiani OpenRecovery 3.3 on your SD card. They have to be on your SD Card, but not in an folder. So when you plug the card into the computer, you copy AOR to "Removable Disk" (the one that is your SD card) and that's it.

[Q] Power Controls

I am having issues with the power button as are most Captivate users. What I would like to do is have a soft key or app that would allow me to reboot, boot into download or recovery. I did see someone do it at one time with the power button its self but I can no longer remember where. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably just need to make and or buy a Jig for download mode. See my signature link below (if u r on a pc or open in a Browser) for info about.

Ya I currently have to use a jig or adb. I was just hoping for a soft key. However it is nice to be able to get to recovery with it. Thank you.

[Q]Root stock ICS 4.0.4.

Hi there,
I want to ask you all how do I root my stock ICS without installing other custom roms. I just need the stock to be rooted for me to install titanium back up and unroot it after the Jellybean official arrived.
I am having a lot of problem with game save files import and export. Cause most of the game save saved locally on phone.
Any help would be grateful!

Go through Dr.Ketan's guide..you will get to know everything about rooting.
I did the same thing when I first rooted my phone. Just rooted the stock ICS & was using it. So, under development section, you will find the kernel thread in which you will see Philz kernel. Select the one which is for your ICS version & flash it via PC Odin
just install the philz kernel using recovery and you will get root.
If I want to restore back to stock kernel, what should I do? flash stock kernel again?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Yes using mobile odin..

Use Exynos Abuse.
It will work on ICS firmware only. (Not GIngerbread)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
Its the safest, easiest and quickest method to root.

I just updated thru Kies in Hong Kong, to 4.04 JB. I tried to use the camera and I had an alert blocking the camera screen and a message bar as follows "Tap and hold shortcuts to edit them. Also combined with it where the OK button was was a text box with the words scanning media in it.
Now, its working after I played with it, first I reboot, that didn't help. Then I accidentally put it into third party mode but hit the up volume to get out of it before it went into download mode. It started to reboot but I held the up-vol, home and on button until it went to the rest screen. I tried to just wipe the cache, but it didn't do anything, moving the selector up and down worked, I tried wiping cache again, no luck, so I just reboot. After rebooting I laid the phone down and started to look for a solution in here. So I go to try the camera again to get the alert message it had, and
Wha La, the darn camera started working right, the alert blocking the screen was gone, it came up as usual for a new triggering, but it accepted my selection when I told it ok and then it went away as usual, computers, micro-processors, no matter what kind, if you have problems, some times just a long shut down to clear the electronic memory will also clear the problems.

My Friend's Galaxy Ace volume button

Hi, I have a query.
My friend's volume buttons do not work. Is there any other way to root without recovery or a touch recovery?
Thanks.

Hi iDelta, if your friend's phone is an S5830 (without more letters or S5830D/B/L/T) the way to the recovery is of just two buttons [Home(center bottom) +Power(left side up)] at the same time . So, you won't need the volume button.
Edited: As the volume key is needed for navigate the menus, I recommend PX recovery
If not, you're in the wrong section. Good luck.

@op : You are optionless now. You can't use volume buttons to flash a custom recovery via the stock one. There's a way to flash cwm via odin but again you won't be able to use it later on because it again needs the damn volume buttons. And on the other hand, no one has devised a way to flash px recovery via odin. You have two options left. Either be on stock or get your phone fixed.
