Quick Office pro free on Amazon market - Nook Color General

Just wanted to tell y'all. It runs fine on CM7.1 stable.
Darn, I thought I was in the apps section, mods could you move please.

Nice spot thanks!

Now it's OfficeSuite Pro 5

Do I have to buy it on the NC?
Can I purchase it from the desktop?

FYI, you can go to the Appstore on Amazon's website to order it, and then just download it from your "My Apps" section in the Amazon app when you're on your Nook next time. http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b/ref=sa_menu_adr_app4?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011

OK, so I guess it would store on my Amazon cloud storage for now until I download it into the NC.

Thanks dude, I had uninstalled amazon app store, but this news made me download it again. Great find

I snapped that up, too
... and was promptly disappointed. Would anyone please recommend an OpenDocument editor, free or otherwise? Thanks.

I was going to ask if it was worth it. I guess you answered that question.

This is the only one that I could get to work on the Nook. Both Quickoffice and Docs to go would not fit the screen. Great app IMO

I have found that Documents to go works just fine for me on my Nook (CM7.1 stable). Quick office also works and seems very similar to documents to go.

New CNN App, others, not showing

I am getting tired of some of the quality apps not showing up in my Nook Market. I am using CM7.
eBay, Gowalla, Amazon, now CNN (and a few others) do not show up. I have to Bluetooth them over from my phone to get them installed (and even then it's a pain when they have an update).
Anyhow, will this ever be fixed? Can the dev's somehow fool the market into beleiving that the Nook meets all of the requirements so that all of the basic missing apps show up?
Just curious if there is ANY hope in the future on this....
I believe i see the problem. I went onto the web market, and looked at the permissions, and i think it all comes down to them requiring this:
"# Hardware controls:
take pictures and videos"
Somehow, you would have to make the nook tell the market that it can take pictures/video, which should then make it compatible. I don't know how easy this is though, so i will leave it to a dev..

There are 5 or 6 apps I use on my Droid (1) that I cannot locate in the market on my NC because of this camera permission. VERY FRUSTRATING! I'm sure the devs will create a workaround for this eventually (i hope!)...
I'll fix it. Thanks for pointing it out.
Please. I would really appreciate it very much.

Well, yeah it'd be nice if they could just disable the camera feature. Apps crash if you force 'em and they try to use the camera, so caveat emptor
I ported the .apk of the new CNN app from my Epic thru Dropbox, it won't install on the Nook....

I didnt try the CNN one yet (I tried it on my phone and it was ok, but nothing like the HC on the Xoom version) but I got Amazon on my nook with Cm7 without any problem, then loaded all my apps that I had from my phone.
I loaded it by going to Amazon.com and loggin in, then it loaded to my device pretty easy (maybe one more step, but easy).
Battery on Nightly 40 was not good, i left it at 64% last night and when got home from work it was 8%. Waiting for the recharge now and then will load #41 and see if anything is better. Sorry for the long Ramble on the amazon question.

The eBay, Amazon, CNN, and Gowalla app all download and work on a stock rooted nook with the newer market update. The eBay, Amazon, and Gowalla apps are all on the amazon market, have to tryed to download from there? I am without my personal computer for a few more weeks or else I would look into the problem for you, it should be a simple code change to get it to work on CM7.
Here's the apk for CNN that works on the NC.

Children's speaking books
Doesn't appear to work for the sample "The Elephant's Child" speaking book.
Gives error "File type not supported"
The children's books are still not supported by the app. At least the ones that can read themselves to the kids.

Another question.
Will any usb sticks work in these?
Can I just plug them straight into the tab or do I have to buy a separate connector first? If so which one should I get? (UK btw)
Thanks
I believe there is a separate connector that converts the charging port into a usb slot.
I have ordered a usb converter on ebay. Very cheap.

There is a sticky post "[GUIDE] General Guide for 7300/7310" that covers the rooting and other useful bits of information.
I don't think anyone has posted about specific launchers but the ADW has been mentioned; I've stuck to TouchWiz and only changed when trying out the ICS roms.
The BBC app is pretty good. I use Plume for Twitter; it caters for the tablet format and has a nice widget. Taptu is pretty good for news aggregator that you can customise to your heart's content and has some nice widgets.
EDIT: Check out the updated Android Market now called Google Play for the 49p app sale.

Yes the 49p sale been doing on my mobile.
Question re my apps on my phone and date backedup with Titanium Backup
Anyway to get them transferred from mobile to Tablet?
Would make some things easier like game date and some app data.
Does GO Launcher also work on Tablet?
Not used that Twitter app b4, will check it out. Does it cater for long messages and more than one acccount? (I have two)

I have no idea about Titanium, I've not used it.
According to Google Play, Go Launcher Ex is compatible with my GT-7300 (3G model) so it should work with the 7310 (Wi-Fi model) too.
Yes to multiple accounts according to the Google Play description and yes to longer tweets.

Hi,
About ADW launcher i confirm that it work perfect on my P7300 (3G).
The tab seems very impresive.
But the best experience and to keep all fonctionality is to install another ROM like OVERCOME (where the camera still working).

If that's vanilla "PBS KIDS Video (Kindle Tablet Edition)" then I can report that it works just fine on Nook HD+. I've added it to my amazon library, too bad we have to go around "incompatibility" (as amazon appstore reports) like that.
I wish there was more people interested in this app for other android tablets, we could start a petition to pbs or something.
Is there a way for me to download my "(Kindle Tablet Edition)" apps without owning a kindle device? like downloading it to an emulator of some sort and copying the apk over?

Clearly amazon doesnt want all amazon apps to run on other android devices (technically they all should). I sometimes think theyd prefer people not to know that kindle is an android device simultaneously promoting amazon appstore with android apps, depending on situation with profit in mind.

I ran into the same issues... I wonder if there's some loophole. Back when I initially tried it, I screwed around with build.prop to change the model name or something, but that didn't work. Oh well. I'll just have to use their mobile website.
No, if it is specified for a Kindle, a Kindle must download it. It won't even show up in the app store APK if it realizes your not using a Kindle.

So at one point wifi on the tablet went out and I got a browser page "Website not available"
http://pbskids.org/video?kindle
Seems like the whole app is nothing more than just a browser opening a website, which is still pretty cool because that way I can put the app into Kid Mode. I wish I could do that with video files on the tablet.
Is there anyone that could grab the reading rainbow apk off the kindle store for me? It would be great! Thanks. Also, anyone get the Amazon Video apk to work with custom ROMs? Any info would be great.

We can finally use our own PDFs and EPUBs within the Google Play Books app

One of my favourite things to come from the IO, since the Play Books reader is the smoothest I've used. Just upload your files here and they'll be pushed to your device.
I just get
"500. That’s an error.
There was an error. Please try again later. That’s all we know."

I use repligo for pdf reading. By far the best I have used so far. Stupid that they don't support larger than 50mb. I have an epub book that is almost 300. I'm using Aldiko which reads it fine but is really slow. Thought about buying it agan for the kindle app which is much faster but in the end I don't want to waste the money. Was hoping play books would be able to handle it.
Works great for me! Thanks for the share.
