thank you sir i will definately check em out,,,later , and thanks again

kyouko's method is the one I use. Just go to Windows and in search bar type %temp% and it will open that folder. Delete everything in the folder. The ones that can't be deleted can stay. Now double click the RUU then wait till the second folder with a jumble of numbers and letters appear. Th second one will have the rom.zip two folders in

That's what I use too

Thanks for the help guys. Going to try my hand at porting and deving. Have to collect some more info to get started , getting the rom is the first step. Thanks again to all three of you for the help,,,later ;-)

AlpharevX in Public beta Linux only

*** LIMITED PUBLIC BETA ***
This is a limited public beta to begin testing for stability and lack of brick creation.
If you would like to participate in this early and extremely risky round of testing
please download the applicable binary for your operating system and join irc.freenode.net/#alpharevx
to request a beta key for your device.
Please note that this beta-round could be withdrawn at any moment if safety concerns arise (e.g. bricks).
The beta key mechanism is there to protect users from bricking their devices if there are bugs present.

Just got S-OFF and Rooted
Public beta already closed.. dang
Hoping to see a release soon
Damn, I was hoping to get in on this
Sounds like the beta test went well (no bricks), so hopefully will be released soon... or another beta test!
More than happy to use my UK bought phone running OTA 2.3.3 as a test
The one day i don't follow that thread and I missed the beta release
me too.. just one day i don't come here and i miss out on this... I hope the final version is released soon.
The website is now mentioning an open beta coming soon... so you probably won't have to wait too long!
I hope they include windows os this time.

1 day? I checked the forum 2 hours after the release and the beta was closed. They just took the first 25 applicants
Lets wait for a wider release now, I guess

Agreed. But I happen to have checked the forum at 3-4 AM that day.. the post was made at 1 AM(ish) IST. The beta was already closed
Basically the window was too small.. chances are you wouldn't get in unless you're there here 24x7 or insanely lucky..
I'm waiting for AlpharevX' release...made a ubuntu partition only for that reason
We in Germany also have that time problem :/
What not one thanks to a geezer who ain't even got a Sensation S yet posted on your forum before I tried to get a beta key for myself, only to find out my Desire S wasn't supported check out the time of my original post then the time on irc also included now in first post.
The purpose of limited beta was not to get it out to everyone. It was just to get a broader, controlled test of the process. Once they got the data they needed, the beta was closed. This is for everyone's benefit in the longer run.
Finally they did it. Nice

You need to create a goldcard using a microSD card and place it in your phone. Then you can try running the RUU. The CID error is because you don't have a goldcard in the phone.
Also the threads that told you to search for ROM.zip in the temporary directory requires that you run the RUU.exe first and when the opening screen is shown on the screen, then you should start your search. Do not close the RUU.exe app because it will delete all of its files that are in the temporary directory.

[Q] Is it possible to mix components of flashable theme files?

Hi to All ... Am not new to this forum but am posting my first query (did that in 2 other threads but got no replies, hence this new thread!) ...... Luckily, I've been able to do most of the stuff discussed here with my phone successfully including xxkpe+CF-root+deodex+ext4+theme ..... Was wondering whether it is possible to selectively change few apks in any flashable theme file with the ones from other theme files and try the output? ... For eg: replacing say phone.apk in one theme file with phone.apk from any other theme file and flashing the revised zip with CWM? ... Will this work? ... Just curious to know and try ..... Thanks, Cheers, envy

give it a shot your self
Thanks .... and when it does not work, you re-flash the original theme file ... right? .... No other risk of messing up the phone? .... Cheers,
@envy, just get a backup via cwm 1st.. Before trying it.. So that if it is fail you can easily restore.. ^^

yes reflash with orignal theme.
Yeah, you can change any components of the framework or app as long as it is from xxkpe our compatible with it, or known to work with this fw. its a good idea to back up your original setting using cwm, before such an exercise.

As the title says - Adding libs to roms, can someone point me in the right direction? I have been a member of this forum for a while, just not a posting member, I now feel it is my time to add something back to the community, is it as simple as adding it to the rom whilst flashed to an X8? Please help me, maybe I can bring something back to the community..

I want to make the whole sense rom work, BUT I can't access the system files without having the rom installed which is pretty gay.. I need some way of accessing it in the .img format which then I can flash to my phone to test... mshhh... plus I'm not quite sure which libs will work (ofcourse when I find out I will seek permissions before uploading the rom...)
To open .img you could use Winimage or Poweriso or something similar.

Already tried, same problem... I found an unyaffs2 program compiled for windows which allowed me to extract the image I just need to mkyaffs2 it back to img then maybe I can get it working BUT I need to be in Linux and I can't be bothered making a VM at the moment...
Maybe someone can help me with this? We could work together to make a fully working sense rom... come on people.. someone who wants this must have a bit of knowledge on the subject...

I've tried that site guy's, they really are there, the files, but I have no income to create an account to get the files. Thank's for looking!. I'm wondering if any one has it on a phone and could get an adb backup created for us here to try. This site http://www.downloads.bombaymobiles.in/index.php?dir=Samsung%20Flash%20files/I897/ has alot of files for diffirent phones, i'm directing you to the i897 files and JE5 is in there if you want an idea what its like, But again looking for JE4, i've read that it's less buggy and I just really want to use it and mess around with it.

[GUIDE].. NOOB FRIENDLY..flashing boot Animation....

Hi U Hey guys so I was thinking that many people aka noobs don't even know how to change the Boot animation....... So we'll I can understand their feeling that there is such a really low amount of guides for this topic....... I was a noob like them once and have many things to help them.......
STEP 1:
Well first u would need a custom boot Animation of ur choice and with the same width and height for your device..... If u want one check this XDA page
https://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&s...XmVXj6EAP_zGR96tA&sig2=XEvJfMYaWTWv8fO8SCZTCg
STEP 2
Then u would need root browser apk which is available in the play store.....
https://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&s...EVfQGdejmbcfqwXfw&sig2=nn0P-rn2hT78Z4OvlC3KmA
STEP 3
Move the Boot animation zip file to system/media and place it der..(in root browser of course) and then hold ur finger der
STEP 4:
Scroll and select permission
STEP 5:
Do what is present on the first pic
Then reboot ur phone and see the magic happen... Isn't it easy well it can be made easier!!!!!!!
ANOTHER METHOD:
Download an app which is available in the play store called boot Animation which installs the Boot animation automatically....... Well here u go..... So more pics will help u so I will post them and guys this was my first guide will be taking out another one on how to make a boot Animation so pls help me if I have gone wrong..........
Pics for boot Animation app (2 and third pic)
Link :

I ain't a professional so pls guide me if I am wrong in this guide or stuff
I
.... I won't be responsible for bricked phones or dead SD cards or thermonuclear war
Just post ur questions below.........
Thanks for wanting to contribute, but there some issues with your guide. here are some tips
1. Make it instruction like. use steps (1,2,3..)
2. Give at least a link to the app if you are suggesting it
3. Maybe you could try getting the links from the images and show them below the steps, having to click attachments is not really handy
4. Don't use "dem" or "der" please. we no talk liek dis u no
If you want to know more about this subject, find this out for your own sake of curiousity
- How to preview a bootanimation that you just pushed without rebooting phone
- How to push it with adb

With Nexus 7 devices and possibly other devices, there is no need to put the bootanimation.zip into /system/media, you can just place it into /data/local, it will override the one in /system/media, it is the proper way to do it, no need to mount system r/w, etc.
