Thing with that is you can get an xtc clip now and get your phone to s-off along with unlocking and rooting, the more pricey phones that are done so quick are based around a different type of phone but with better specs but the salsa is not, it takes time, there is a few people on here that are working on them now, just a game of waiting.

reply
yaa u are right, but xtc clip is very expensive to buy, almost 1/4th cost of mobile, and near my place there are no mobile tech guru's who could unlock my salsa!
so eagerly waiting for unlock tool!!!

dude i paid over £300 for my salsa, the xtc clip is not that expensive, it is not restricted to one phone, if you are that desperate send the phone to me i will s-off, unlock and root and send back, all the while not even charging you, Where else will you get an offer like that but the ball is in your court. Either wait till there is a route to s-off with no clip etc or put in a little faith on another user.

How to move all Android apps to SD card without rooting
here i tried adb shell method for moving apps to sd card, it worked!!!!
no problem at all, only problem is that when u flash your mobile remember to delete (.android_secure) folder from sd card.....
here is the link follow the tutorial in it.....

it works on salsa

so why the need so bad for s-off

Not you sir, those who have not rooted yet
i only wish to know if this works with s on.

No Need to S-OFF using xtc-clip, you can go to htcdev site and unloack your boot loader and then root your device.
It worked for me. My phone still shows its S-on yet rooted. I could move most of the appts to SD, installed a firewall to control my bandwidth, new ROM and many more..

Possible help for a Wildfire 2.2 root

Hey guys,
As you may well know, the Wildfire isn't the only phone that has been put through "HTC's All Purpose Anti-Hack Machine". The HTC Thunderbolt is massivly locked down as well, however I just read an article that details how to root it already. Now I'm no expert, so hence I'm posting it here so that others can have a look. Is this worth anything?
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: http://www.androidguys.com/2011/03/20/htc-thunderbolt-rooted/
*EDIT*
New article found that doesn't mention emmc - any better?
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...bolt-instructions-by-team-andirc-v1-20110318/
htc wildfire has no emmc, so the exploit isnt valid for it
Ok, was just a thought anyway.

i had this idea too, but i decided to ask the ones who developed this exploit, if it could be possible to port it to a wildfire, buth they explained me there was no way, as our phone hasnt eMMC
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...bolt-instructions-by-team-andirc-v1-20110318/
That is very similar to the first article, however it doesn't mention eMMc? Would this help anyone at all?
I doubt
well in my eyes this guide just looks like the downgrading we already are able to do, problem is that it will not touch the Hboot at all... and that's where the main problem is because of the new Nandlock.
The only way is an xtc clip..... I can say it works very good and easy. If someone is interested in an in the Netherlands...
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
Yes I know all about the clip. I'm just looking into how they rooted the Thunderbolt as it has similar lockdown's on it to the Wildfire.
we all know about the xtc clip, why people keep on spamming about it? theres already a thread all about xtc clip unlocking the NAND!
I am just giving another possibility...........and i can not know what other people know

I haven't tried it yet because I can't afford to mess up my wildfire. Also, the misc.img might be specific to the Thunderbolt.

sure
Yeah sure I'll try it out later. And yes the misc.img is specific to the device, as I said before these steps looks a lot like the downgrading process we already have achieved, sadly as I said it doesn't affect the Hboot.

If you try it out make sure to tell us where you end up! Perhaps we can still downgrade the hboot.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire
We spoked about something similar here. Unfortunately we didn't manage to downgrade.
The method used to root Thunderbolt is similar to the method used to downgrade Desire Z. I think if someone with more knowledge will help we might be able to adapt this methods to wildfire.
Already started looking into a lot of methods which could be possible... looking at exploits for the fs security atm
By "fs" do you mean filesystem? And this method *should* be adaptable I think although don't hold me to that.

Yes by fs I mean filesystem. But also known as nand lock

Has any one has successfully rooted their htc salsa? Forum experts please come up with a way to root this device, htc phone with out rooting is a waste device, now I regret for buying this phone
i think alot of people are trying to find a way to do this

there's a way to s-off it right now with xtc clip and just need to get to the next step towards rooting it
if you happen to find out any information or news on rooting this device do share it on the forums

yeah i can share your sentiments
my girlfriend is getting so frustrated with the phone everyday with it's low memory pop out notifications
i've tried several ways highlighted on different forums and for different forums to root the phone but none have yielded success
sigh
hopefully someone soon will be able to make a breakthru
there are a couple of us trying different methods out as we speak lol....its annoying me too...went from a Xperia X8 running GDX to this salsa lol....lucky my son still has it so i can still play lol.

CALLING ALL DEVS! S-OFF on HTC SALSA

I don't know how many DEVs are in the salsa forum, i don't lurk around myself but i did notice that the SALSA still doesn't have a software S-OFF solution.
Maybe you should start something like
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374926
And get the moderators involved?
i can create a batch file to create your gold cards for the salsa but no longer have the salsa sorry
honestly we need help to root and s off salsa without the clip .....
Hey Salsa owners! I'm from the Wildfire S forum. If there are any devs working on a software S-OFF like us, we would like to co-operate with you guys. Seeing that the Salsa has almost the same specs as the Wildfire S, why not work together to get it done faster? Also, we need someone with embedding skills. Hope we get a positive reply from you guys!
im still currently running the Salsa on the chinese rom i got, so far ive expanded it a little furhter, allowing a ton load more apps and refinded the links2sd alittle so its running nicely.
as davies put we both can get you the batch files to copy etc, and i can get you any other files anyone so requires to do any work...heck id even test lmao.
one thing we really need is the recovery menu to fully function properly, maybe get support from the makers etc.
im still currently roaming the net for a dev or someone to create a rom like other htc users have.
as for the clip, yes its an arse....but me and davies are willing to help anyone in the uk, i wont personally post mine out, but am willling to help other users out.

people here are finfing out ways to unlock bootloader without hboot update...**** HTC hasnt released an update yet...HTC= morons !!
I really wish HTC had given the kind of support that Sony and Samsung are providing. Samsung is giving really great hardware and Sony is giving great software support. because of this low memory issue, Salsa has become a secondary phone to me. Using Xperia arc and wondering why I didn't buy it earlier. Unlocking the bootloader from Sony's dev site was a cakewalk. I am still holding out with Salsa and hope one day we can get rid off this S-Off issue. Clearly, there are no hopes of getting ICS on Salsa with this much internal memory even though cheaper Xperia Minis with 1 Ghz processor will be getting a timely update! :-(
Salsa is a complete rip off esp for those majority users who have no clue about rooting.
HTC wake up guys!!!

HTC ChaCha roms on Salsa???

Just wondering if the ChaCha roms can run on the Salsa.
Here in Australia we seem to have the Salsa and overseas seems to be the ChaCha? I know there is a lot of "seems"
Could not find anything on it so far.
HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa are different phones, Cha Cha has a hard QWERTY keyboard..i dont know if the ROMS are compatible tho
are they are 2 that's right...just cant seem to find a descent rom that will fix the memory issue.....maybe one that puts the data on sdcard.
actually I cant seem o find any roms.

i have 2 custom Chinese Roms,
1- 2.3.1 has transparent status bar and new icons
2- 2.3.3 standard Chinese 02Uk ROM (more internal memory with this one, but no working market)
3- Completely standard 02Uk ROM
theres a patch called gapps from cyanogen-mods which allows you to flash the Google apps and market on foreign Roms which dont have these installed
as for the data2sd part, thats been worked on by kanded and his friend puppet13th
in this thread here >Data2sd
so theres options out there...but if you can get data2sd working, as i cannot currently. stick with your standard rom.

[Q] Root without HTCDevUnlock?

There has been no mention in the ONE forums before these started getting split off about being able to root without going through HTC Devunlock first. Do you think that is being worked on and will be released? Someone had pointed to a twitter post from someone about that in the EVO LTE forums but that was weeks ago and nothing ever got posted to XDA.
Trying to figure out if I should jump on this phone or not, want to know how quickly I can get root for things like Greenify/Titanium/Adblock/Wifi Tether. I can wait for full unlock S-Off and Roms, but those apps are essential to how I like to experience my phones.
Htcdev does not root your device. It somewhat unlocks it but keeps the security on. Most devices are rooted fairly quickly, so this should be no different.

Htc dev unlock, unlocks your bootloader (s-off). This allows the flashing of new kernels and recoveries.

Sorry about my misleading post. I stand corrected. Thank you.
I confirmed with HTCdev on twitter that the Sprint version of the One is getting unlock support, at least. We may or may not get full S-Off sooner or later, but the supported unlock method will be enough to satisfy me for now.
Over at HTC one (M7) forum they already have quite a few working ROMS I don't see a reason why those ROMS shouldn't work for the sprint version

It seems to me that everyone is missing the point of his/her question. The question is can you root without doing the HTC unlock method. What if someone wants to have a rooted device but wants to keep there warranty?

Sorry I was out of town for work but this is the point I was making.
I understand an unlocked bootloader /= root. That wasn't related to my question.
For example my Asus Transformer tablet has root methods that are available without the use of Asus' Bootloader unlock (similar concept to HTC's version). This gives me features/access to apps that I would like to use without loosing my warranty and without them tracking my phone that way. All of the root methods currently listed in the dev forums are currently requiring HTC Dev unlock to achieve the root access, which although is great for some is not what many of us want.
It is no different than for us coming from a Sprint Evo 4G LTE, many of us achieved root and eventually S-Off without requiring the use of HTC Dev unlock. That is what I am interested in, but my inquiry was about the fact there had been no threads regarding it being worked on or developed.
I was interested in this same thing and did some research and emailed HTC about it. HTC doesn't void warranty automatically just because you unlocked it according to their support, but it allows them the right to deny it. Basically, if they detect non-stock software on the phone, they are likely to void it. It sounded like it didn't matter if you used their unlock method or not.

Currently, NO, you CANNOT root without HTC dev unlock.
HTCDev unlock does not void your warranty. I'm not going to argue this, nor explain it. Google it.
ok
thanks a lot
Typically, a HTC device that has htcdev support doesn't get a root method without unlocking. It happens but not very many security devs are going to spend any amount of time trying to find a root exploit when one isn't needed to root the device. The time is better spent finding a s-off exploit.
The at&t guys will be plugging away at a root method and if they find a root exploit it will be compatible with ours. unless its a temp root exploit that changes cid to get them htcdev support, in that case it would be useless for us.

be careful with yr statement because this does not apply to all countries. Different Countries service centres have a different policy with regards to consumer laws in that countries
it depends on the consumer laws of the country. Here in singapore or malaysia or some asian countries , once u dev unlock i can say warranty is good as gone.
