High battery drain i9001 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a problem with the battery drain on my galaxy s plus.
When the phone is standby its using 40-60mA. When I have lucky at night it is 20-40mA.
I didn't find the problem. 4 weeks ago with my htc desire and same apps and settings the battery used 8-12mA in standby day and night.
3G and Wifi always on.
Standard 2.3.5 rom. Push apps: gmail, gtalk an whatsapp (same as on the desire).
Yesterday rooted and deleted a lot of system apps to clean up the rom. Flash this morning a custom kernel with CWM. Nothing helps
I was happy with the bigger battery but with this battery drain.....
Has someone a idea?
Are there more people with same problem?

I don't know if there is a problem

My cell standby is also very high rougly about 45% and my phone idle will be also around 40%
i think there might be a firmware problem somewhere, but kies seems to think that my firmware it upto date.

Battery drain JB LSA

I observe of the 2 jb leaks ls7 and lsa, I find battery drain is more in lsa. Did anyone else experience the same?

Pff I don't call it drain, I call it waste...
I thought LS7 was bad, but LSA is really crazy...
Losing 20% battery in 2 hours while the screen is off and the phone is idle/standby.
the battery drain in the jb leak was pretty high ...so I moved to alliance jb rom . my battery life is decent now.
I just did a whole day at uni with heavy use for most the day wifi on nearly the whole day.... after 11 ish hours i had 15% left ..... ultimate lsa.... seems good to me.
No. LSA is greattt here

No clue though why 2 programs say that it's 7h+, but the other says 9h+
I never had battery issues on LS7.
When I first flashed LSA it was draining like mad.
No other problems though. After two days of 'burn in'
without any improvement, I decided to wipe cache+dalvik+battery.
Result : Bootloop. Only solution, full wipe + 3formats and reflash.
After this my battery life is normal.
Hope my story will help some, just wipe and reflash.....
Oh and I didn't recover anything by titanium, I just reinstalled my apps from playstore
both times I flashed.
Just for being complete: I followed the flash instructions of the OP as usual

Hmm that could be a/the solution. I did use titanium.
Even though I only recovered like 1 program with titanium.
I'll give it a try later

[Q] Battery problems or?

Hi folks
so let me tell you what has happened to my Note. So short battery time isn't something unknown on JB roms from Samsung. But this is something awful.

OK, one more thing ofc is that when my Note goes below 50% the screen starts to flicker, or backlight that is.
So my question is: Is my battery dead or is it something with my Note? Has anyone had this kind of problem?
Thx

I dont see any reason for issues except your screen power utilization is high...can you try to install apk night mode which can help to reduce your screen brightness. Also do a "Clear Dalvik Cache" if possible install the lates gapps and try should fix the problem. Let me know.
I just got the new battery will try it and see what happens.

I hv JB stock rom on my Note, which i updated recently from ICS.
Battery drain so fast everyday.
I browsed through internet website and found some help as below.
1. backup all data needed.
2. factory reset
3. wipe cache
4. reboot.
battery drain problem solved.
Try clean wipe....
May you got dirty wipe...
Just my opinion...

So it's been 2 days since my new battery arrived and all's fine. No more flickers and after all day of using and with me it means from 4:30 am till 11:00 pm i was left with 23% of battery.
So the issues was the battery not the roms, kernel, or anything else.
Thx people for all of your advices and help.

yes the samsung batteries are pretty ordinary, one of my friends had a battery failure after 8 months. try not overclocking for an optimum battery performance.

[Q] Very poor battery life ( please help)

I have upgraded to sony.z1 from.HTC One and I noticed that 2300mah battery was much better than the 3000 in z1. I charged my HTC one after usage of 1day 1-3 hrs after having an average usage whereas in z1 it is not more than 12 hrs on nrml usage of whts app and few mins of web browsing. Please help me with this problem I hope I am not the only one who is.suffering this problem. I feel battery optimisation in Sony has to do something. There is something that is eating the battery of the phone even on.idle mode.

Download Better Battery Stats. Search Google and xda and learn how to use it. If you post some info from that it makes it much easier to help you. Post some screenshots of it after a full charge's worth of use. Even screenshots of the built in battery usage from settings would help, but BBS is better.

Take screenshots from all the other data in BBS (kernel wakelock, partial wakelock, cpu, etc...). Those are the ones with information that is useful

Here you go my phone charge was 70% when I removed from charging. If you want info from 100%- below 10% den I will take them as well. Mobile networks are on 24 hrs just to inform you.
you should go to setttings/ power management, battery consumption to check which backgrounds apps are using the battery. It is more useful for you. Based on stats from bbs (dont know if you have tweak it correctly), you are playing music when the phone is off. Check if water is in audio port.

Gear Manager causing battery drain

Anyone else seeing extra battery drain from the latest Gear Manager 2.0.14041404?
Appears to be coming from these wake locks in the photo, which appear to be far more time consuming than anything else on my phone. Just not letting my phone sleep properly.

I have nearly the same problem, although it's not as huge as yours:
SAPROVIDERS service had 102x Wakelocks within 9:30 hours and was 8m 46 seconds active.
GOPROVIDERS was only active twice and 4 seconds active.
You know... I was using rom slot 1 and basically just playing around with stock rooted 4.3, xposed framework, and wanam app installed.
After a couple of days of seeing wakelocks and battery drain, I decided to go back into safestrap and just boot into my normal stock slot which is just 4.3 rooted.
Battery drain is gone and the phone is sleeping properly according to CPU Spy.

I actually froze saprovider in titanium backup and noticed the drain started coming from Android OS after that.
I'm not really sure what was the original issue causing the drain. I didn't install any additional apps and was only using Wanam & X Tether modules. Using GSAM Battery Monitor it pointed to the kernel causing the wakelocks which made me start thinking if it was the framework itself causing the issue. Either way... I'm not really missing anything I was using.

OK I've got an SGN3 with a Zerolemon 10000mAh battery that usually gives me 4 days battery. I have a Gear 1. I recently installed the gear manager update and last night I went to bed with 100% battery this morning it was 17%. That is over two normal batteries worth of charge. All taken by saprovider and goproviders. Serious problem this...phone is uprooted and I'd rather not root it, not that I don't know how but it's my main business tool and I'd rather not ...how do I stop this happening?

Hi
I create this topic all of us to share and discuss for battery life and to help each other for battery consumption. To discuss which firmware is good in battery consumption, which has more battery drain, what are others experiences, and others screen time. Every information will be helpful for us and will navigate us what to do. Thanks

These are my battery usage for today with all time in 3g. I am in b615 firmware, i had similar screen time with b609,i didn't realize any difference in battery consumption between 2 firmwares. I dont know how is in emui 2.3,because when i bought my phone immediately i changed it to emui 3.0 after 1 day.
I didn't really see any difference between emui 2.3 and 3.0.

Me neither, I think the battery usage for me is about the same from 2.3 to 3.0
There's a consistent boost of about two hours general use when I root my phone, freeze 'project menu' and use Greenify and Deep Sleep Battery Saver

I have screen time btw 4-6 hours in a one day cycle without root. Of course these values are good because my battery is almost new, and after couple of months surely my screen time will decrease but for now without root it is acceptable

Hello,
Can you check for me in your phone do you have this 'Media Server' in battery statistics. It begun before 2 days and continuesly eats my battery like screen, and i don't know how to stop it. I tried everything with no success. Thanks
With EMUI 2.3 the battery lasted two days. With EMUI 3.0 it lasts one day. Strange, as nobody reported such a change yet.
Not for me.

I bobut ught my P7 AND used it for two months before upgrading to emui 3.0,WHEN I was using emui 2.3 the battery atlist lasted for two days but when i upgraded to 3.0 it barely last even a day so i had to downgrade to the previous 2.3 and my battery life was okay
