Sansa Clip Zip - Nice! - Off-topic

I decided to use a Best Buy certificate and apply it to the new Sansa Clip Zip MP3 player. I got the 4GB red one for $9.99 and this baby sounds sweet. It uses the beloved AMS SoC rather than the debacle of the Fuze+. This gives excellent SQ. It doesn't deviate from the previous Clips either by continuing to provide an SD card slot and still handles the high-end music formats. I took my Cowon D2 with me to pick up my Clip Zip and simply pulled the microSD from it and inserted it into the Clip Zip while sitting in the car. After an initialization at power-on, I was playing all of my FLAC files. Super convenient and superb SQ for extra low money. I'm currently using my Sleek Audio SA6 IEMs with it.
One changed thing from the previous Clips is the use of a microUSB port instead of miniUSB. This makes it more convenient charging the Clip Zip with the common USB cable I use for my phones.

I'm glad you like it. Enjoy!

I was looking over Sandisk's latest MP3 products and they have drastically reduced their line. The only MP3 players they sell now are the Fuze+, Clip+ and Clip Zip.
I guess times are tough for them.

I would think, especially since (most??) smartphone users just use their phones to listen to music...like I do.

I have one of these too... they are great.

My first MP3 player was a SanDisk. Now I have Samsung's 5 inch Galaxy Player.

Ewww...nice MP3 player! I have seriously considered getting one of those. But I can't find what audio chip it has. Those new Philips Android Connect players are sweet too.

next time, try a sony walkman, and see the difference

Those are super sweet, but I already have more than 10 Sony DAPs, including 2 of the Sony version of the iAudio X5...the NWA-1200. It uses the same audio chip as the X5. I have an NWZ-A728, NWZ-A818 and some smaller thumbdrive style ones.
The best sounding DAPs I have are my Cowon D2 and iRiver Clix2 Redline, iPod Nano 3G, Zune 8, Sansa Clip+ and now the Clip Zip. Though my Samsung P3 isn't bad sounding either. My Creative Zen Vision-M is an excellent sounding DAP.
But this new Clip Zip using FLAC files has such a beautifully sweet tonal balance and crispness with excellent definition. The Clip+, which preceded this new Clip Zip received a lot of rave reviews and praise for sounding so good and Sandisk didn't deviate from the Clip+ ingredients when they made the Zip. It uses the same SoC and other hardware.

I used to be very heavy into DAPs a couple years ago. I'm a gadget freak. Never satisfied, always have to have something new. I ran out of money spending it all on DAPs and IEMs...lol
I learned all I could about audio formats and hardware...not that I know as much as a lot of the others, but I learned enough to get myself into money trouble...lol
My IEM collection is almost as extensive as my DAP collection. And I currently have about 80 to 90 DAPs. And this is after trading off a bunch of them for high-end IEMs like my Shure SE530, Klipsch Image X10, Ultimate Ears Triple fi-10 and others. My current favs are the Sleek Audio SA6. Amazing SQ for a customizable IEM.

Monster Beats by Dr Dre Headphones (Can Type)

I decided to get these headphones after seeing them on various gadget websites and seeing them on display in the shop.... OMG they are awesome! I can't believe the audio quality I am getting out of my HD2... of course, I "knew" quality headphones were important for listening to music... I have never been too crazy about music/tunes except when I do my workout laps at the pool ... then, the underwater headphones are crap and don't seal properly...
So, I have been missing out. I thought the earphones that came with the HD2 were pretty good. I have never had a decent seal with the in ear type plugs without being uncomfortable... This was until I walked into the store and by some chance decided to try these cans which were on display... after having been wowed by the display set, I tested this on my HD2 and was SOLD immediately.... they are expensive at $300 to $350 but heck... you MUST try them! THey do fold and when folded, becomes a more "compact" package than BOSE's offering... but the bass on this with crystal clarity in the treble blows the BOSE I tried away IMHO...
The BEATS come with a nice case and cleaning cloth... it also has TWO interchangable cables. One standard red one and another black one with a mic on the cable and a simple remote. This cable lets you take calls by pressing a button on the mic. The same button functions as a play pause button also. Nothing more is offered but the addition of a mic is a surprise for cans of this quality! And very welcome indeed... it can take a lot of time to have to pull out the headphones, remove the full size headphones and then take a call.... the mic cable is black in color and come with gold plated plugs. Finally, both a HiFi plug adapter and an airline adapter are also included
Downside... these headphones require power... power to power those drivers and also to run the noise reduction electronics. If the juice (2 x AAA) runs out, you won't get sound. The batts should run for a long time though... I have been using these for a while and have even forgotten to turn them off many nights... still running strong on the original Duracell batts I will be swapping these out with Eneloop AAA batts when these run out though.
I am really happy with these. The comfort level is amazing with ultra soft pads over each can. the build quality of the plastics could be better I think for $350 headphones... but I am still wowed each time I wear them. The noise reduction is great for airplane or train journeys too... if you want to hear what is going on around you to engage in conversation, just press a button on the right ear... this disengages the noise reduction and mutes the music and viola, all can be heard! Sweet!
Don't take my word for it, go try them out!
Oh... I also use SRS WOW which I installed on my HD2...
ah nice ive tried them before and they are pretty good but very pricey.. i use these... they are made by an english company and the quality is supurb!
they are kam khp1500!

Hello,
does anybody use different headphones rather than those from Motorola? I would like to buy a better ones but I really like possibility to use them during calls.
Are there any of these really existing?
Have a look at Sony Ericsson Xperia X10's earphones. I think Sony's earphones are better than Motorola's.
yup
Sure there is a earphones.
I'm using the Ultimate (UE) SF4Vi w/ my Milestone.
It equipped w/ a mic and answer button, could play/stop music, hope y'll like it.

There are a variety of aftermarket headphones available with mics these days. I can't attest to the quality, but know that both Samsung and Skull Candy offer models that you should be able to find in any electronics store.
get a philips bluetooth headset, it's great.
Sent from my Milestone using Tapatalk
I'm using skull candy holua headphones. the earbuds are all wood, multiple sized rubber inserts and also foam inserts for comfort, in line mic, button to stop and start music, they sound awesome.
I don't recommend Skullcandy, because the sound quality is subpar at best. Better off getting Ultimate Ears Metro-Fi's or Klipsch Image S4i.
question is whether your earbuds will outdo your phone or not.
I have the Super Fi 5 Pros and the Triple Fi 10 Pros and I have to say those are all overkill for a Milestone. LOL.
But still, they are both nice as they accept Ultimate Ears' vi cables which adds a mic.
Yeah the Milestone might not have good sound quality anyway, but still it's nice to have good quality buds. I've heard the TF10's and they are quite amazing, on par with the Sennheiser IE8 and Shure SE530, in my opinion.
Google "Sentry HM300". $5 bucks at Big Lots, and fairly cheap elsewhere. Sound is crisp, with a bit of punch at the low-end, and thus far have been pretty durable. The mic has a start/stop/answer switch. The colored portions you see are actually metal, and they look nice, too. I've been very pleasantly surprised.
And if you misplace them or accidentally jerk them or something, you won't have that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach that comes with a $80-200 pair of earbuds.

...not if you amp the Milestone I only wish that the Milestone had a line-out cable like the iPhone LOD.
I tried out a work colleagues skullcandy buds he other day which had a mic and were noise cancelling. The noise canelling effect in particular was impressive for the price.
You can buy any iPhone compatible earphones. The only one with in-line mic and answer button. Not the control talk models (with volume up and down) because it got some problems with our phones. Pay attention for Samsung and Nokia compatible because they don't work: GND and Mic contacs are swapped on them (like OMTP standards and our Milestone is not OMTP compatible).
I got a pair of Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket with in-line mic and it's not so bad. I've got also the Atomic Floyd HiDefDrum + Microphone and these are much better, best earphones ever had. Really comfortable and the sound is great!!! Little expensive (to be sincere) but sound is wonderful.
Be really carefull if you search for the Monster Beats Tour or others made by Monster because there's some fake chinese models clone that really look like originals. You can find more information about this on the web or ask me for more if you need
Bose mobile... expensive, a little overkill on the base, but fantastic sound quality! Go to Amazon or NewEgg... don't buy anything @ Veri$on store. They want double price for a 32g microSDHC, and about $30 extra for the Bose earbuds!

Headphones! which to buy?

Hello, I have HTC HD2 with Android MIUI on board. And I wanted to get new headphones, because the only headphones, that i have alive, are my old Phillips (5 years)
So can someone help me ?
1. i need them to be in-ear
2. they have to work with my phone
3. they must have flat wire
4. them must have L-shaped plug
I found only 2 headphones, that are OK with me, but i never head about 1 of them.
What i found: Beats Tour and a-Jays, but Beats don't have L-shaped plug, so i am sure, that they will die after month of using.
a-Jays have several versions, from one to four.Four was designed to fit iPhone, but it has all i need, so will it work with my HTC HD2?
Here are a-Jays four:

I'd try to find answers at : headfi.org . But don't forget to bring back your conclusions about your pick !
Get the aJays, I'm getting myself one soon.
Although they hinted that the headphones will work with the HD2 along with the buttons, they weren't direct. Here is their reply:
>Dear Faris,
Sorry for the lateness of our reply, it is vacation time in Sweden.
The product is design specifically for Apple’s own products and that is what we recommend you use it for. However, whilst some of the features (like answer calls / pause and play music etc.) might work with other devices, we have decided not to market it in this way.
Hope it answer your question.
Kind regards,

And How will the buttons be functioning?

Can I buy anywhere BOSE on a good price?
Hands down the Astro A*Stars. These are what I use on a daily basis, they're built for gaming, and work well on my PS3 as well (with their amplifier it does amazing surround sound), but they really pump on the HD2. I should note that I get my best performance from MIUI Music as well (I switch ROMs frequently), even though I love CM7, the MIUI music player (or try Uber Music) is noticeably clearer with these headphones and a few other I've tried. The in-line controls work well for play/pause on any ROM, volume controls are excellent, and I have literally stood in front of a fan and used them to make phone calls with total clarity. The mic is wind-shielded. My only wish for the product would be a skip button as well.

The lowest price on a BOSE headset is $80 at Sam's Club. Check this link out

i got my in-ears from deal-extreme, they come for $1.80 so even if they break its no big deal..
Quality really isnt bad at all.
I have the Shure SE 215. For me they are really perfect and sound awesome.
But it depends on what kind of music you like. Do you want much bass or is the clarity important.
On head-fi.org forum you can get some really good advice for in-ear monitors. They helped me to.

[Q] i need new headphones! what should I buy?

I've lost my original headphones. They were a bit tired, but still in good shape.
Now I'm going to buy new ones.
Any sugestions about what should I choose for a nice quality of sound?
Thank you!
i think this with blouetoth and FM Radio can be the best one :

http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones
Those originals were okay but not that great sounding. If you have a best buy, or not, I suggest Skullcandy Titan. It doesn't matter the color, they should all sound the same. Here's a link so you can read about them. I have them and a pair of kickers too. For the money, $40, you can't go wrong with these. Go read the reviews.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Skullcandy+-+Titan+Stereo+Earbud+Headphones+-+Black/Chrome/9825242.p?id=1218178656643&skuId=9825242&st=skullcandy&cp=1&lp=1
These next ones are a few dollars more but have a "truer" sound but no natural bottom end like the titans do. They are very good. If I had to pick one based on not using an equalizer to tweak anything, I'd pick the skullcandy. What might sound good to me might not sound good to you and vise versa. You can't go wrong for 40 or 45 bucks. They sounded almost as good as a old pair of $300 shure earphones I had. Only problem with those were the earplugs came off kinda easy and they got uncomfortable quickly. It's no fun having sore ear canals.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Kicker+-+Premium+Earbud+Headphones+-+Blue/Gold/1997288.p?skuId=1997288&id=1218305392865
If you have voodoo sound installed, the titans can be damn loud. One of the problems with the titans is you'll hear how crappy your overly compressed mp3's sound and how bad some streaming radio, even pandora, can be. With some good and clean sounding flac music files... it's kinda hard to describe and I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, I occasionally gets chills with some music. Weird involuntary responses to good and clean music on a great set of headphones or earphones.
I'm listening to some old 80's crap now and kick drums sound nice and tight... I was watching movies on my galaxy tab with the titans and they sound great with things like rumbling thunder. The lows are definitely there but are tight, not fat and sloppy.
Sony Ericsson MW600+good earphone or IEM+Voodoo Sound+FLAC = another eargasm

very good music quality, good basses and treble

So far the answer is yes unless you count the upcoming HTC Sensation XE that comes with Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.
I just picked up the Sennheiser HD25-1 ii. I like them a lot, rugged, utilitarian and great sound (better than my Bose over ear headphones). Passive noise cancelling is also pretty good for this type of headphone.
i would suggest the Sennheiser CX 200, not very expensive and great sound with nice bass

Well I dont know if are the only headphones that allows you to control the music player but this one can do it just fine. Baught them from amazon uk couple of weeks ago and am super happy with them
Nuforce NE-700M

I have these and I love them! These have the in-line mic, but the have another model with out it. I must note that I am using them with the optional foam tips, they are made of a memory foam so It makes them really comfortable and does an awesome job of isolating outside noise. I find that I can listen to music at a lower volume and have better sound quality and listening experience.
These are the tips I use: http://www.amazon.com/Comply-T-200-Black-Pairs-Medium/dp/B004HKIAB0/ref=pd_sim_e3

Are there any good headphone adapters these days? There was one from Griffin (SmartTalk) but it seems to be sold out everywhere. To clarify a bit, by headphone adapter, I mean something that provides an in-line remote, a mic and a line out for regular headphones.

Did you also get the tips? In my opinion there it's nothing better for less than $100.

What Headphones/Earbuds do you use?

Everyone here will have their own opinions on which they would prefer, so I am not asking that because everyone listens music in their own way. So what do you use?
Personally I have used my V-Moda Crossfades LPs on my recent trip to NY. Well actually my 4 year old did watching Lorax on my N7 lol. But I tested out the volume before popping them in of course, but what I did hear was a clear dialog. From Dallas to NY she watched the entire movie using the V-Moda Crossfade LPs.
The crossfades are my fav headsets altogether for all different types of music and movies I watch on my different devices including the Nexus 7.

My other cans I use "were" the Sol Republic Tracks HD. I say were because I have upgraded (aka sold) to the Sol Republic Ultra V12's. Here's my review of the Tracks HD with some pics.

My work earbuds which I use on the Nexus and Sensation at times is the mid range earbuds-Shure SE215. Bottom line, great sound when you have a good seal but because I wear glasses, they tend to interfere with them but it's not too bad. Sorry, I didn't do a review on this one. Not sure why, but they are a very good pair of earbuds.
Last and not least, iBeats headphones that came with the Sensation XE's. Not a horrible earbud, very muddy but very bass heavy. Not my cup of tea but works without issues.
Honorable mention: Sony Ericsson MW600. Bluetooth stereo headphones. With this, you can use any of the above headphones/earbuds in this unit. Pair it to your device, in this case, a Nexus 7 and viola...track and volume controls (to an extent) included.
Currently I'm using Audio Technica ATH-CKM500...
Previously I was using Ultimate Ears MetroFi 170.
I use Philips O'Neill The Stretch, which imo are pretty good for $35. These are the first headphones that have real bass, and I'd recommend them to anyone. Then again I really haven't used any other real headphones, so I can't really compare.

You have a TON of headphones/ear buds. I have one pair of ****ty ear buds from Phillips and a pair of Sony MDR-V700's that I've had for 6-7 years (only needed to replace the muffs). I'm not huge on this new fad of having multiple hundred dollar each headphones.
Just a pair of monster turbines

Be it a fad or whatever you call it, "I" personally wanted to see what are available at a mid range price. A few hundred is the "retail" price of my 'collection'. I personally never pay retail :silly: .
So I decided I wanted to test out a few of these guys out. I mean I can't really sell earbuds back on ebay...well I can, but I feel weird selling earbuds that already have been stuck in my ear lol.
i'm using the akg k 5180dj modded with sennheiser hd 25 ears pads, amazing sound and comfort !

That is correct. However, the review helps a lot.
Sony MW1 bluetooth with supplied headphones or my Grado SR60i (I challenge anyone to find a better pair of over the ear headphones for the price). The Sony headphones that come with the smart headset are very good, I was extremely surprised by this. I have used their earbuds for years.
