bell mobility raider system update already! - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

i work at a bell location in canada and as i was showing the device to a customer it said there was a system update, it was around 6mb does anyone know about this update? changes, fixes ect? haven't done it yet but will tomorrow and come back with more details like software version ect. also i havent seen this update come across my raider yet but will i still be able to get it with my bootloader being unlocked and having permanent root. i also backed up and deleted a lot of bloatware, will that affect me getting updates? and i persume that if i update there is a chance i may lose root? lots of questions, hope you peeps have all the answers, thanks!

I would asume that they were misssing some root certs which they may be push as update. Again you are way better connected than I am

while i went to do the update today on our store demo and when i checked for updates, no updates were found! i guess it may have been an accident, to bad i didnt do it yesterday right when i saw it.

[Q] "Communication failed" when I check for update

After I successfully completed the JH7 update a while back, I get the "Communication failed" error when trying to manually check for an update. It's almost immediate. Anyone else getting this and know how to fix? I'm running stock 2.1 update 1.
I know there is no pending update, but it used to tell me that rather than this error.
I get the same error.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I talked to AT&T and they had no clue (as expected) and told me to contact Samsung. I emailed Samsung but never heard anything - not even a "we got your email" response. I'm hoping a 2.2 upgrade would fix it assuming they can OTA that somehow without me having to get it the same way the Software Update tries (and fails). Worried I may be stuck and cannot get 2.2 when it does come out if this keeps up.
I guess I posted a little too quickly. I found a Samsung response in my spam folder. It said to call Samsung so I did. He said that as long as everything else is working (market, etc.), then the reason it gives me the error is because there are no updates available for the phone. When an update is made available they will make the servers available and I will be able to download.
I'm not sure I completely buy it because it used to tell me no updates, but maybe JH7 changed the way this works to keep traffic off AT&T's servers. I guess I'll wait for the 2.2 update and see.

[q] htc hd7 update??

My phone has recently updated but what is the update? Nothing seems to of changed i am new to all this so please excuse me if this seems silly.
It was the "pre No-Do" update, which is supposed to make the updating process smoother for future updates. It didn't make any actual changes the user can see, but I assume it changed some back-end stuff that makes updating/backup easier.
Probably a good thing, considering all the trouble they had with Samsung.
Edit: The actual "No-Do" update with Copy/Paste, improved speed etc should be due very soon. March 8th if rumours are to be believed.
why I still don't get update for my hd7??I am in usa with tmobile
T-Mobile USA seem to be one of the few networks who still haven't rolled out the update.
Just keep checking in Zune for the update. I didn't get an alert on my phone, it was just there when I plugged it in to sync.

[Q] OTA Updates Not Downloading

My girlfriend just got a Moto X from the holiday sale last week. She bought an AT&T branded devices so she could use it on Straight Talk.
It works fine on the network, but the OTA updates would just not work at ALL. Every time it wanted to update, it would ask to be on the wi-fi network, which it already was. And if we ever got a progress bar, it just said "Will Resume when on Wi-Fi" and showed a 0% progress for over an hour.
Motorola support was utterly useless, they hung up on us, TWICE, after 2+ hours of phone calls, and the third time the level two technician, who we were told could force the update, told us we could factory reset the phone to make it work.
After THAT failed, he told us we could just mail it back to Motorola and they'd install the update themselves. At that point I just used RSD Lite to flash the 4.4 stock firmware, because it was much faster than waiting two weeks for the same thing. Now I'm not sure if the OTA updates are working still, but she's been unable to download the new boot services or active notifications apps, which makes me thing there are still problems with it.
Anyone else have these issues with OTA updates? Specifically with the AT&T variant?
Anything would be helpful!
I am having the same problem on an AT&T model purchased from the holiday sale. I tried the factory reset suggestion and that didn't work. I am actually on the phone with level two support right now hoping for a solution. I will post a follow up if anything works to resolve this issue.
I updated two Moto X's to 4.4 with no problems at the beginning of the month, but I had this same issue this past weekend when my latest Moto X arrived and I tried to update it. I finally got the update to download by tethering to my other phone instead of using my home Wi-Fi. Sucked that it used my AT&T data, but at least it worked. I researched it a bit and apparently some Motorola Android phones have had this issue before. Others said it will eventually download if you just leave it, but it could take a while. Pretty sure it's an issue with Motorola's update servers because a bunch of people will report it at once and factory resetting doesn't help.
I haven't had this issue but you can always just download the OTA manually and sideload it with adb.

Okay, as much as it sucks, it's somewhat comforting to hear that others are having the issue as well.
Since it was new out of box, and all Moto Support wanted to do was install it at their factory, we just used RSD Lite and pushed the 4.4 factory image.

We just wound up flashing the 4.4 Factory Image from RSD Lite in the end. Is there a good repo for OTA zips for ATT though? I found one for an earlier update listed here in XDA (the one that brought some camera fixes), but I couldn't find any other stock OTA zips that could be applied via stock recovery outside of that one.

If support doesn't help (they were pretty sucky towards us), you can use RSD Lite to apply the factory 4.4 image to the phone without any modifications
Tmobile version not updating either
I have the Tmobile variant. Its not taking the update either. Two different ways its prompting and not working. The first is I have a notification that the update will begin when I'm on wifi. I'm on wifi and it never starts. After reboot, I check the 'about phone', --system updates. "It tells me an update is currently being downloaded. You will be notified when the download is complete."
Waiting and waiting.....
After my second call yesterday, level two escalated me to level three. They called me this morning, (they don't take incoming calls) and the rep pushed the update to my phone. It took about 10 minutes and then the update started downloading. After a reboot I was then able to download the kitkat update. So now all is well. One of the reps at level two said he tried pushing the update to me (on Monday) but it didn't work. I guess level three has more power. Anyway, it did resolve my issue.
Good luck to the rest of you with this problem and Happy Holidays to the community.
My wife took her phone to work and connected to wifi there...update came through. I'm guessing either motorola servers cleared up, or needed a different wifi...but either way, resolved.

[Q] Have yet to receive AT&T S6 Edge software update

I have an AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge that I have been using on Cricket. I have never received the update that AT&T released earlier this month. There seems to be some confusion as to if you get those software updates on Cricket or not as I have gone through forum posts where some people have stated they have received updates for some devices and others say they have never received updates while using Cricket for AT&T devices. I did have them unlock my device so I could also use it on T-Mobile. Has anyone else had issues getting the update? Could it be related to my device being on Cricket or being unlocked? I have also tried putting an AT&T Go Phone sim (with active service in) and my device contacts the server and still doesn't see the update. I am not sure what else to try.
---
Never mind. With the Go Phone sim in, advancing the date a day, it allowed me to check again and then it found the update. Still think it is ridiculous that they won't let their own phones receive updates on Cricket.
I'm using an ATT sim, and have not received an update. I've advanced all the way through June to check for updates without success... as well as reinstalling via ODIN multiple times.

Update file will be live in like 30 minuetes . Just Wait
I had a phone that would not take an OTA not matter what I did, one of many defects i found with the phones i tested. You might have one of those in that back. The rest of the phones I have tested took OTA on first try.

Manually update baseband to come current?

Ok so I just acquired an S6 (AT&T, OEM/not rooted) and I know that 7.0 is rolling out for it and after some investigating it seems that the only way I'll be able to update it to 7.0 from 6.0.1 is if my baseband is at a certain version, which it is not. There are 3 listed updates for this phone on the At&T site that I don't seem to have (SPL Nov 1, SPL Dec 1 & SPL Jan 1) and I'm wondering how I can apply these updates and at least have my phone up to date. I've tried checking OTA updates and also installing SmartSwitch and it says that my phone is currently updated and doesn't offer any patches. Any help is appreciated!
Here's a screenshot of where I'm at now-

No OTA updates if it's not on the AT&T network, sadly. I have an AT&T S6 on Cricket and I get my updates by going to a Best Buy with a Samsung Experience Center inside. They can update it for you. If that's an option based on where you live you can wait a couple weeks, they didn't have the Nougat update yet when I checked yesterday. Otherwise, since it's a new phone and presumably you don't have any data on it to lose, you can update manually. See this thread to start:

Thanks for the tips. I'm on cricket actually so going into a Best buy might be the best option when they get it. Do you have to pay them to do it? Will i get my phone back right away or do I need to leave it with them for a while ? Side question for you - do you use the hotspot on the s6? That's something else I'm trying to get working/enabled.
It's free. I've done it three times and it's been a breeze. You don't leave your phone, you just wait around for the updates to install. Depending on how many updates you are behind it can take a while, but there are plenty of ways to kill time at Best Buy. You can check online which ones have the Samsung Experience Center inside.
As for hotspot, I never use it.
