hi

I want clean Vanila 2.2 or 2.3 ROM.
Hi All
Please do forgive me if I come across as being stupid but I only got my LG 2X today and I want to flash a clean 2.2 or even better a 2.3 Vanila ROM.
But I'm very confused as to exactly what I need to do. I understand that I need to root first but dont even know where to root from.
Would someone be kind enough to maybe put together a step by step guide on how to root and then install a ROM please? Or maybe just provide links to each step in the correct order?
I'm sure other users would also find it useful.
I've been using the device for a few hours now and have updated to the latest V10D via LG's software update and have not yet experienced any random reboots etc except for only ONE reboot when I tried to install Swype but that was before the V10D update.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out here. Cheers.
Root:
I used this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=LG_Optimus_2X:_Rooting
Recovery:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=LG_Optimus_2X:_Recovery_and_CyanogenMod
Flash:
With ClockworkMod Recovery you now can boot into recovery (power+vol down)
Here you wipe data and wipe partition and after that you click "flash ROM from SD-card" or something like that, find the ROM on your SD-card and hit it.
Wohoo!
Definitely the best and easiest way to root is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
works for LG stock froyo
i think you should add this to the first post
Could someone please add a note to the first section (or anywhere else they feel it may help) to advise Canadian users? Here in Canada, Wind lists their LG as an Optimus 2X but it is actually a P999. A note pointing them to the P999/T-Mobile forums would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to get a review system going for the roms and patches, so we may get a gauge of battery life, stability and those sorts of things for the different roms, etc?
Sort of like done here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668090
But maybe working off a user review system?....Trying to think of a way to make it fairly accurate, but not involve one poor person running one rom after another over and over to write a review.

I would like this as well. I am looking at flashing a rom with good battery life. There is no direct way of finding out how the battery peformance is in these roms. Everyone always talks about the overclock I just want stable with 2 days battery.
I have got good battery experience with Slick2X ROMs for both Froyo and Gingerbread. I got around 3 days or 1% per hour in sleep mode.
Gingerbread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061532
Problems: Slow GPS fix.
Froyo -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076454
Problems: Well, it is froyo, does not utilize dual-core fully.
Current I use Pauls rooted stock gingerbread ROM, which gives around 2 days between charges.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328656
Problems: none found yet.
Can everyone please vote, for the ROM or kernel you're using, 1 to 5 in five categories. Stability, Speed, Battery Life, Appearance, Daily use. And i'll compile them and put it on the second post. thank you.

FXP ROM??

Hey can anybody tell me features of FXP rom and its kernel....is it better than gdx and ldx kernel??
Thank you in advance
Sent from my X8 (with unlocked bootloader ) using XDA App
It is a good rom, features are similar to cyanogen mod official rom but a huge disadvantage that this rom does not support fully working camera and fm..

Good, useful thread
You can add in these in the ICS+ section:
- Raum's 4.2.1
- Remics rom by weeo
Also add MetaIIica's name to ics+ devs since he is also a dev of PACman ROM.
It would also be good if you can separate ICS and JB roms into sub-categories of "stock ICS" and all "JB" ROMs because there are also tons of CM9 roms, which may not be needed to be added.
Cheers
hello and thanks for this thread
it can also be helpful if you add some small symbol in front of or after rom name to denote which bootloader it is for. like asterisk (*) for new bootloader and hyphen (-) for old bootloader or something like that. can be useful for new users to quickly figure out the bootloader and wont occupy much space either. thanks

Thank you very much!
Just one little mistake in the kernel section: SilmBean is only for new Bl. (not old Bl)

The owner of this thread has now been banned from xda, so unless someone else is willing to maintain the thread, this is going to become outdated pretty quickly.

I reported this thread and asked a mod to sticky the one you linked here instead.
nicholaschw got banned because he spammed nearly every section with his stupid kernels.

[ROM] [JB] [4.1.2] Stock deodexed and rooted XXLSZ / add. Mod available!! [2/21/2013]

hHi folks,
here is official JB 4.1.2 from Samsung ==> XXLSZ
One final comment regarding RocketROMs: i stopped that and won't continue in future!!! But I will provide you with Stock ROMs as I get my hands on it
New Release XXLSZ:
official Firmware from Samsung XXLSZ
Modem XXLSO (coming with official release)
Kernel ZSLM5, pre-rooted (thx phil) --> you are free to flash preroted XXLSZ-kernel as soon as available!
deodexed and zipaligned
==> ROM is pure stock, no Mods or tweaks and including ALL crapware and nonsenseapps from Samsung coming with this release...decide which to keep and which to delete.
Download-Link: down....
MD5-Hash: 0C83EFB4AD62EFCD05D82AE18DCDC5EF
Mirror 1
Mirror 2
Mirror 3
Mirror 4
Mirror 5
Installation:
make sure you are on a rooted ICS-ROM or JB-ROM with CWM recovery and brickfree kernel installed
copy ROM on your USB-storage
boot in Recovery
FullWipe/Factory Reset --> really do that, even if you come from LM5!!!
Format /system, Format /data, Format /preload --> really do that, even if you come from LM5!!!
flash ROM
enjoy
==> it is recommended to flash new JellyBean-bootloader BEFORE or AFTER flashing the ROM. (Some expereinced it is better to do it before...). This bootloader might be important for not getting any botloops again when removing battery etc.
Just download from here and flash in Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38150047&postcount=58
If you do not care that issue, flash without doing that - but you got warned!
Every Rom cook or developer can take this ROM as base without asking for permission!!!
Here are some mods I made for this ROM:
1) here is Mods 'Part 1' - it is CWM-flashable without doing any Wipes!!!
ALL Mods are based on official JB XXLSZ!!!! No old crap from any previous leaks inside!!!
including:
native Call Recording based on XXLSZ
4 way reboot
Ink Effect (thx to mythtrandyr for his App 'Ink Color Changer' to do all the settings inside with every colour in the world )
LockSreen Shortcuts --> change CSC to BTU and you will have them...here is how to do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=336
no ascending ringtone
Airview Fix also in Gallery
unlimited apps for Multiwindow
Download-Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?4i2wftzdpo1djr9
Mirror 1
Mirror 2
2) here is Mods 'Part 2' - it is CWM-flashable without doing any Wipes!!!
ALL Mods are based on official JB XXLSZ!!!! No old crap from any previous leaks inside!!!
including:
SMS hacks: 200 contact recipients and MMS auto converting is increased to 200 SMS
Permanent disabling of SMS, MMS & Email log history to be logged in call logs
Airview in Gallery now multilang
Download-Link: http://205.196.123.36/i98wx2dqqqwg/6...art3_XXLSZ.zip[/U]
3) here is Mods 'Part 3' - it is CWM-flashable without doing any Wipes!!!
ALL Mods are based on official JB XXLSZ!!!! No old crap from any previous leaks inside!!! including:
added 'ROM Addons' section in Settings with apps integrated, such as 'CSC Changer', 'CPU Spy', 'Fast Dormancy Toggle', 'Adaway'
added tweaks for speed, scrolling, perfomance --> for me it is perfect now
Download-Link:http://205.196.123.36/i98wx2dqqqwg/6...art3_XXLSZ.zip
4) enable Lockscreen Shortcuts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38318802&postcount=664
5) flashing all Mods 'Part 1' - 'Part 3' in one zip + Auto Rotation enabled (thanks to majdinj):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38305339&postcount=630
EDIT: here is correction for Typo in Settings coming with Mods 'Part 3' (CPY Spy instead of CPU Spy...)
Just flash in recovery if you wanna get rid of that typo: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mj5c0mv710fupap
You can use this Mods 'Part 1', 'Part 2' and 'Part 3' on any other deodexed XXLSZ-ROM - BUT: the modded apps have to be in same place!!! ==> so check on your ROM if the modded apps inside this zip are in the same place (/preload/symlink/system/app and /system/app)!!!
EDIT: some more Mods can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=589
Thanks.

the JB bootloader is included in the official LSZ release in this file - http://www.hotfile.com/dl/194965403/0874506/N7000XXLSZ_N7000OXALSZ_DBT.zip.html
when you flash this via pc odin your bootloader gets upgraded automatically. Flashing it through mobile odin doesnt.
eybee is recommending flashing the official JB first through pc odin, rooting it and then using his deodexed rom available here. for better performance.
Re: [ROM] [JB] [4.1.2] Stock deodexed and rooted XXLSZ / official JB!!
Hey .mi don't quite understand what eyebee meant in the op ..should we flash through PC Odin first and then root it ..or is the ROM already pre rooted ? That is .should I root it again after flashing ? Thank u

As rraaka described...
Is there any chance to analyze if the new bootloader is important here?
I didn't use it because I installed with MO, so I wait a little bit and see if I get bootloops etc.
Can install the PC Odin version later.

I guess it is important in some way though i did not flash til now tbh
One could build a odin flashable just cotaining the bootloader so you could flash it afterwards...but i wont do that cause i dont like playing around with odin stuff...

[KERNEL][4.1.2][STOCK][I9100G] [B]lazing Safe Stock Kernels

lazing Safe Stock Kernels
Standard disclaimer from CyanogenMod:
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this kernel
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*
*/
Yippie! After I managed to create a true dual boot kernel, now I am finally able to unpack the ramdisk from a zImage to modify it (add custom recovery to it etc.) and repack it back! So there you have it lazing Safe Stock Kernels (or B Safe Stock Kernels for short)!
Features:
- Pure stock kernel! (yup, straight from Samsung, only the ramdisk is modified and nothing else)
- Can be flashed through stock recovery
- CWM 6.0.3.2, TWRP 2.5 or Philz 5.08.5
- Both recoveries modified to support preload partition
- Init.d support
- Custom bootanimation support
- Custom boot sound support
FAQ:
1. What do you mean by a "safe" kernel?
- Since I only modified the ramdisk of the kernel, the kernel part is left intact, so it's all Samsung's settings! And Samsung should know best about the device (they made the phone anyway...or not? )! So things just work out of the box (exFAT support, SOD free (maybe? Lol) etc etc)...
2. How do you set custom bootanimation?
- Just place a bootanimtion.zip in /system/media
- To restore original bootanimation, just delete the bootanimtion.zip in /system/media
3. How do you set custom boot sounds?
- Just place PowerOn.ogg in /system/media
- To mute, create an empty file named "mute" in /system/media
- To unmute, create an empty file named "unmute" in /system/media
- To restore original boot sound, create an empty file named "ori_sound" in /system/media
4. Why is there a weird kernel version in Settings->About device?
- In custom kernels, the kernels are compiled with the verison name coded into it (e.g. -blazing-v10) and the second line shows who compiled it (e.g. ryuinferno @ Acer-Aspire-v3-571G)...since the kernel is pure stock, the version and compiler's name is set by Samsung...
5. I would like to have the kernel of the xxx firmware repacked, what should I do?
- Well, just tell me the Android verison and firmware version and upload the zImage here...I will do my magic then...just that simple...
6. I wanz OC, UV, everything else in custom kernalz in tis kernalz!!!!!
- It is just a stock kernel (yes, straight from Samsung, I just modified the ramdisk), so do not be silly and request stuff like OC, UV, fast charge etc etc which is impossible...
Instructions:
Flash via stock or custom recovery:
1. Choose your recovery type: CWM6 or TWRP.
2. Download the corresponding zip package.
3. Place in sdcard (external sdcard for those running stock recovery)
4. Flash the zip.
5. Reboot.

Do the ICS kernels have BRICK bug? I am very conscious about that...because my device has this bug
Can't say for sure as Chenglu didn't mention...but it's patched in custom ICS kernels...JB kernels are safe for sure (MMC_CAP_ERASE not present in source code)...
EDIT: Removed ICS kernels until I find a way to patch it... thanks to @Fsu0413 for reminding...
Owh man, no one likes a stock repacked kernel? I thought that there were many people asking for XXLSR/DDLS3 kernels with custom recovery...now you have it (took me tons of time)...but the feedback seems low on this (even the download count is low...lol)...or maybe you guys need more explaination on how this works?
