this backup method works with mi7ROM_1.1 Samsung Omnia7

Wow great work!
I really needed this! can't wait to get my Focus ROM with this (I mean 1.1 focus ROM )
thanks again!

Oh, many thanks!

Hi
Thanks

I am about to flash your Mi7 ROM onto my Focus 1.3 (thanks for the hard work). Before I do I just want to make sure I understand what this procedure will do.
If I run this before I flash the ROM to create a backup and then after I flash the ROM, I restore the backup created this will restore the data (SMS, MMS, etc..) back to the phone in the newly installed ROM?
Thanks in advance

I recommand to do a backup before flash a custom ROM. The reason are, if yo don´t like the custom ROM- you can very quick restore your "old" ROM.
The backap are a FULL BACKUP= complette ROM, Firmware, Apps and Data.
So if you restore your backup AFTER flash custom ROM- you get not a MIX- you overwrite the custom ROM with your the old ROM and Data from your backup.

Got it, thanks for the quick response.
Is there any way to backup the SMS and restore only that part?

Official ATT Tilt ROM Upgrade

Just out today from the HTC site:
http://www.america.htc.com/support/tilt/software-downloads.html
Has anyone installed it? Any thoughts??
Installation went smoothly, but...
I've been experiencing SD CARD2 problems with this ROM...
Had none with the original AT&T ROM.
Further, when I try to install Dutty's or Schaps' comm managers, I receive the following error message:
installation was unsuccessful. the program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions.
What is it?
you need to close comm manager, make sure its not running.
double post......
I don't see COMM MGR in the running programs list
I checked with task manager and memmaid.
How do I close the default comm mgr?
And how come this didn't happen with the previous ROM?
Thanks.

Comm mgr deosn't show up in my task mgr either for some reason...
Go to start/settings/system/memory and look at the Running Programs tab.
Sorry, I DID find the comm mgr running in the backgroud...
And successfully installed the Schaps 10 button one.
But still, I didn't have this issue with the previous standard AT&T ROM.
My tilt already has this rom installed so I dont see anything new it says make sure it is not the same.

This is what shows up on my Tilt after the ROM upgrade
ROM 1.62.502.0
ROM Date 01/17/08
Radio 1.27.14.09
Protocol 22.45.88.07H
After the initial setup, I performed an SR after 3 seconds, in order to prevent the loading of the customizations.
Here's the memory status:
Memory storage: 124.91, in use 10.07, available 114.84
Program memory: 101.38, in use 27.59, available 73.79
The main issue I'm having is the SD CARD2 problem, which has popped up about 10 times in the past few hours.
I performed an HR and reinstalled everything, but it still occurs quite frequently. I had no such issues with the previous ROM.
Possibly there's a setting to be tweaked with the Schaps utility or Kaiser Tweak?

Sprite Backup?
Greets,
The AT&T instructions say you can do a Sprite Backup and then Unback it once you install the new ROM. How can that be, though ... won't it mess up all the registry settings required by the new ROM?
When you do a Sprite back-up I'm pretty sure you have the option of unchecking (turning off) backup of the registry.
I hope not

Good gosh I hope that's not true. If we did not back up the registry then 100% of the preinstalled programs would not work once restored, making the process meaningless.
Anyone?

Can you please let me know where you read the new ROM version on that page? I have read and reread and just don't see it. I too see the version that Moddin posted the screenshot of, which is also the version I have currently installed.

Considering the red check marking the box next to "Registry" I would say it is true. If you want to keep your file system intact you should be able to keep the "File System" box checked.
Haven't tried I'm just looking at it and reporting what I see.
almost ready to flash to this rom but i want to backup my sms messages. ive used sprite and copied the backup to my sd card but not sure if it copied over my messages. how do you guys backup sms and mms?
Has anyone tried restoring their stuff with sprite backup after the rom upgrade? I noticed if I restore after the upgrade finishes, my rom version goes back to 1.57.502.2.
Also, has anyone experienced not being able to uninstall java apps after the upgrade? I noticed I can't get rid of all the crap that comes with the AT&T rom; the option is grayed out.
so anyone kno the differences yet??
how is the new radio?

Blue Theme with Background 4 all tabs

Here it is, Of course you can change the background to your liking for all pages in the settings tab. I just took the manilla files that briannowicki posted and modified the homescreen a little to fix the clock and logo deal. Here are some screenshots as well and download. Many of the items were taken from here and xda developers site, just mixing alot of it together. I hope this helps the Imagio owners know what works and what doesn't. I don't have the software to make a cab. If you don't know how to copy to the root directory just copy all of the files in my windows folder to your windows folder. I am not taking credit for making these items, I simply spent alot of time trying to find things that will work on the Imagio TF3D version. I would gladly give credit to those who made the cabs, I just can't locate where most of them came from.

Just Copy all of the manilla files to windows directory, I placed all of them in a windows folder so you can copy the whole folder to device. makes it alot easier. Then of course soft reset the device.

Blue Theme for all
Hi. I am new to this so please excuse my ignorance. I downloaded the zip file, in them I saw the windows folder, but there were also .cab files. Not sure where to extract the zip file, and which cab files to install. I also tried to copy the manilla files to windows folder and got warning it could damage my device.
I downloaded the zip for the icons and the slider, not sure where to extract and what to do with those.
Thanks for all the help and work you do.
I was able to get this to work, but the problem I ran into is how to get it to stop working. Some of the files were able to be uninstalled, however my phone send me a message saying "The selected program will be permanently removed. You may reload it from your desktop computer. Are you sure you want to remove it?" I touch the yes button, then about 5 seconds later it says "Co0kie 4ColumnStart&AllPrograms was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?" I click yes, and the program still remains on the remove programs option screen. The same thing happens for the KD Blue Theme Bckgrnd 4 all. ANy ideas as to how I can remove this from my phone?

Usually if you re-install then uninstall it will work.
I have two questions...
1. How did you add the program tab on Imagio, I have searched but had no luck locating how to do this...
SOLUTION FOUND 2. How did you change start menu back to default 6.5 start menu instead of the quick launch menu while in M3D.

[Q] Rescue me from Titanium Backup

Long time forum fan, first post! I'm a little scared from that registration video, but here we go: After rooting my phone, I did a complete backup with Titanium Backup before deleting all kinds of Verizon and Motorola bloat. Now my Droid 3 is experiencing the hardware keyboard repeating space thing described in many other threads. One of the solutions I read about was to try the new OTA update, but I also read that this requires all the bloatware to be back where it was when I got the phone. So, I went in to Titanium Backup and managed to restore a few of the files, but most of the time, when I try to restore a file, I get the little spiny animation forever. I've tried a couple different Busybox versions, direct access and indirect access. Nothing seems to help. In the future I plan to explore other backup solutions, but for now, I'm stuck with all these backups I can't restore. So, now I guess I need to know a way to manually restore the backed up files. Any ideas?
Try Pete's Root Tools and there is a restore system app option
So that app will use the titanium backups? Happen to have a link for that app?
Its not an app, you connect your D3 to the computer and run the batch script. I cant post links cuz I'm on my phone but i believe Pete posted it in a thread called "unroot" i'll edit my post if i can find it.

Hi there,
How do I execute the tool?
Thanx
Edit- I get a message saying the files must be saved in a /restore/ folder but I can't figure out why my windows XP (32 bit) wont let me use a "/" to create a file??
Am I missing something?

/ indicates file path. You dont need to type it into the file name. Just place the restore folder inside of the main folder, and extract all the apk's to it.

The directory you run the tool from to restore the system apps should look like this:
Also, if you are on XP, make sure you are using the file for XP (found here: http://www.psouza4.com/droid3/) and not the one for Vista/7 that I linked to in my original post.
Thanks for the reply.
The Win 7/Vista version installed and launches on my XP machine and gives me the restore option pictured in your post.
The XP version you linked me to does not include the restore function (as far as I can tell).
Can I try using the 7/Vista file or will it bork my phone.
Also, will this wipe my phone?
TIA
Please, cant download DROID3_original_system_app.zip anyone has it??

[Q] htc one update is corrupted

So what happened is that update 5.11.401.10 rolled out today, so I went ahead and started installing the update but I didn't have enough time since I was going out to work so I cancelled the update and decided to start again once I reach the office... But when I tried to restart the update in the office I kept getting a massage saying that update is corrupted, so i restarted the phone, cleared the update cach but I still same problem.
I read somewhere that the only way to solve this is by a phone rest, and since my phone isn't rooted I cant manually go and delete the system update folder..
So is there a way to fix this..
Flash your nandroid backup & then you can start fresh.

It wont be in the download folder yet as you didn't finish downloading it, it will be somewhere like data/local/tmp, must be a temp folder somewhere until its completed, im surprised it doesn't give you the option to redownload if its informing you the download is corrupt.
If you don't have a nandroid from a previous Rom, you can't do one now. A nandroid is a "copy" of a Rom. Doing one now will save the screwed up Rom.
When you get your phone back working correctly, then make a nandroid. I update my nandroid at least once a week. I keep 2 nandroids on my SD card and delete the oldest after making a new one.
As far as the download folder not displaying the OTA file, do you see anything in that file?

[Q] $ 50,- reward (real) (data loss)

Hi All,
After update to Lollipop 5.0.2 I lost some audio files.
The update to 5.0.2 was a normal "update" so I had no idea I was going to lose data, and I did not make an additional backup.
As it turns out, I'm not the only one who is missing some files. A friend of mine lost almost all downloaded MP3 songs.
For me it's not something I downloaded, but recorded. It's a few .wav files, and I really like them back!
And Yes, I'm willing to pay for it.
I have a HTC M8, but during root process, I saw it was telling me it's a M7 (???)
So, the phone is rooted.
I tried several recovery solutions (all just reading, not writing) and some can find some files, like a facebook .png that I recognise.
This means, there is still (useful) data on there.
How can I recover my files?
Is this just a HTC problem, or are there also other phone vendors who delete user data?
I hope.... and pray... and ask here

Yes, I have.
I am confused with the files it finds.
A lot of files, Some corrupt, not yet of it useful data for me.
I do know quite a bit about data recovery on a normal hard drive, but almost no info how it works on NAND flash.
dr.fone also found some files:
I was not aware I had 105 times a .mov files on my phone, 3,5 GB... I did not make them, or download them.
Diskdigger "Helps".
This does find files, but also loads of files I was not aware of. (and not the files I need)
A lot of .zip files, and the strange thing is that they all seem to have the same data structure. (see zip.jpg)
Can any one tell me why I have all them .zip files and apk's?
Thanks!
