[Q] IncS freezes when putting in new SDcard - HTC Incredible S

Well, I got me a new SD-card for my IncS, all brand new and shiny and stuff, and it's 32gb in size and a class 10 card for being extra fast. (HTC told me, IncS works with classe 8, but they should be downward-compatible, I think)
But - every time I try to put it in my IncS freezes and doesn't react anymore. Only cure is to remove the battery (and the card of course) and start the device again.
My phone runs with Nik's ROM v1.5, the recommended radio and itandy's circular battery mod.
Already reformatted the card on my laptop (using mkfs.vfat on my Ubuntu system) -- but no change.
Anyone else experiencing this? Or ideas how this may come?
Thx for your kind help!

Hello, I'm not to sure about this but could you try formatting your SD using FAT32 system?

have u formatted from ntfs to fat32?

Thanks for your advice - didn't have to use it though.
Problem disappeared without further notice, not leaving any traces

[Q] MicroSD works intermittantly

Hi all
Have a Telecom NZ Milestone a853, was running froyomod (about a month old) fine until yesterday when some of my sdcard files ended up in the lost.dir, then more and more, i grabbed what i could via card reader into my pc and put back into phone to format.
Once booted i got the notification that teh sdcard was damaged or unknown format, when i try and format it flashes up on the screen that sdcard is removed. If i leave it for a while i can format on the phone and even copy files at some ungodly slow rate (usb1.1??). And all is fine til i reboot and it misbehaves the same way again.
I have tried 2 cards a class 6 8gb and bought a new class 10 16gb yesterday. both cards are fine in windows and run as fast as the card will allow.
I have tried flashing back to 2.1 with rsdlite which appeared to work however the card needed formatting but there was enough time to copy open recovery across, take a nandroid backup of the phone and flash to 2.2. 2.2 showed a sd card issue but it formatted fine and i copied across the hono 2.3 nandroid image.
2.3 was fine for about 10 minutes and since then it has been back to square 1, sd card sometimes appears but needs formatting and then the transfer rate is slow and the data is temporary.
Firstly had anyone else had the same issue? did you manage to fix it and how?
Nextly where can i find a TNZ XT sbf for my phone cos it looks like im gonna have to flash it back to stock to return under warranty even though i can probably get them to repair it with the custom rom as we have in NZ a consumer guarantees act which trumps all silly manufacturer opt outs, it will still be less hassle to take it back stock.
thanks in advance guys.
+1 for a clean XT nandroid/*.sbf I forgot to backup before I flashed...

I had this issue with my first milestone. It still works (handed down to an employee) but i had to switch the sdcard.
I dont know if you have the same issue...but i would try another card.
Sent from my Milestone using Tapatalk
I had the same issue with my milestone microsd. I ended up fixing it by formating the card via laptop instead of the phone. Don't do a quick format, do a full format instead.
Hope that fixes the issue.

SD Card Problem

Hello everyone!
So here is my problem: my milestone don't read sd card. Week ago it was happening just occasionaly and I had to reset mobile one or few times to get it back to working but now it's useless. The problem is that other devices can normally see sd card, pc also see it normally and can write/read on it.
I've already tried everything that got on my mind but it did nothing.
Here is what I've already done:
- clean up those connecting parts on sd card with some soft material
- did the same to those parts in mobile but with an air
- flashed to 2.1 stock (I was using CyanogenMod 6 before)
- tried flashing to 2.0 but just couldn't so I abandoned this idea
- now I flashed it to got 2.2.1 but it's still the same
- formating sd card on pc
I'm just going out of my mind, don't have any idea what to do.
Hope you'll help me.
Regards,
Felven
Try formatting the card using the phone.

Did that, just forgot to write down. Didn't help at all. Do you think sending to repair-service will be needed?
Test with another SD card, if it works, throw that one away
I had that issue before. You can try my method - this MAY work (it worked for me).
Get a card reader and connect it to your computer.
If your computer is able to read the card - then there are still hope.
FULL FORMAT your card via your computer, I mean full format, the slow one.. not quick format.
After that, try reading it on your phone, hopefully it works.

[Q] Nexus One Randomly Rebooting

For the past few weeks, my phone has been randomly rebooting. I would say about 20 times a day. I cant nail down a pattern. Sometimes its while im using it, sometimes its while its idol. Here is what Ive tried so far:
Reinstalled Rom (different versions)
Reinstalled DT A2SD
Whiped Everything (dalvik, SD, and everything else).
Formatted SD card with Amon_RA's recovery.
New Battery
I've tried running a logcat, but this doesn't tell me anything. It just stops when it reboots.
The only thing I havent tried is purchasing a new SD card. I want to see if I have any other options before I do that. I feel like there is something i'm missing. Ive read something about formatting the SD card in windows, instead of in the phone. Are there any other things I can do to troubleshoot? Log's I can check?
Phone Details:
Nexus One
Amon_RA Recovery
CM7 Nightlies
16GB Class 10 SD
DT A2SD
EXT3 SD partition for apps & Dalvik
Thanks for any help that can be provided
It's a known hardware issue.
You have to send your device back to HTC for repair.
I've seen a few claims that similar problems are actually caused by a bad SIM. I've no idea how accurate this is, but it's easy enough to test...?

[Solved][Q] Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!----Clockworkmod Recovery

Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with CWMR.
I was on Asylum ICS 14 when I bought a new Transcend 32gb class 4 microsd card.
It worked fine for half a day and when I tried using MX video player later that night, the phone had stopped reading the microsd card.No amount of re-inserting the card would help. The card didn't work with my laptop (running Windows 7) and PC (running Linux) either. So I tried wiping data via CWMR but it shows the error--
Wiping data
Wiping cache
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping format
Format complete
I checked and the data gets wiped i.e. all the use apps and settings are cleared.
But the error repeats no matter how many times I've tried to wipe.
I tried flashing a stock GB firmware(KL3 to be exact)and I still get the same error. There is no real problem with the wipe,it works just fine.
Thanks guys
And yes, I've changed the microsd card-it's now a Strontium 32 gb class 10 card.
Not my fault really, my dad just went out and bought the Transcend one
Hmm...sorry about that...I didn't think me rating on my own thread would count !
This is common on pretty much every device out there, it's nothing to worry about.

Really? No disrespect, but there would be at least one thread about it if it was a common problem ?
Anyways, thanks !

It might be a problem with an update, because I'm suddenly having the same error. I'm about to backup my recovery.tar and try to install an older version. Xperia Play 4g with stock 2.3.3, rooted. I've made backups before, and can't find any info as to what a solution is.
The .android_secure folder is a super hidden folder that contains all data from when you move an app to your sd card.
What might be your problem is that you have two of them. One in internal storage and one on an external sd card. Try taking the external one out and backing your phone up to the internal one.

It happened to me also, try this take out your microsd, do factory reset (only on save kernels), format your microsd
Insert it, boot up your phone.
If I'm not wrong, there was a faulty cwmr , which cause this.
Update your kernel
Maybe your card is faulty.
I recently bought sandisk 32 gb card and put up in my galaxy note. It kept saying no card inserted. Same error on windows 7. And after that i come to know that its a factory fault. Got it replaced from the service center.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Fixed.
Flashed abyss kernel 4.2 and did a fullwipe.
Then went back to ParanoidAndroid.
Dunno what caused it, but I no longer care as its fixed
Sorry wrong thread.
Any fix? I need that android secure folder

SD suddenly unmounts on V30B

Ok so I am starting this thread to track down the SD unmounting issue present on V30B. Every idea is welcome.
Things I have tried and have not helped me:
Pimp my ROM (tweaks to external memory)
Factory Reset
Format SD (on ROM)
Different SD card
look this bug is not specific to the rom , most of v30b users dont face it ,, try removing "android_secure" folder from sd ,, also re-flahs your current rom on full wipe
Had that issue too.
Things i've done to track down the issue in 7 days testing period.
1) Formatted my SD Card (16Gb Sandisk Class8)
2) some combinations of cluster sizes (reformatting through Card readers in windows - filesystem fat32) and mp3 only for testing
3) Finally, reflash rom (Marvel ICS) and yes, once again i had that issue after receiving some phone calls...
I believe it's the SD Card itself which started to give up due to aging ... (3 years old)
I'll try if that happens again with a 2Gb Samsung
Question: what's the brand, size and speed class of your SD card?

I have tried 2 cards with same results: Amazon class 10 16GB and Kingmax class 4 4GB(included with phone). I was on Froyo before updating to ICS and never had this issue until updating.
BTW, have you tried the tweaks from Pimp my Rom?
Had this problem twice, but for now, no issues. I'll report if that happens again, but my main concern is that there's something going on with the SD Cards or some files.
Maybe ICS has some "sensitivity" with that so we should all start with format and transfer only our crucial files on the card to troubleshoot...

Check my post #4 .... just a bit above all these
So far, no unexpected unmounts, but as far as i'm reading about this issue of ICS on some other cellphones, it might have to do with the source code (I have no idea about these things) of this version, or it's just a coincidence and our SD cards are more sensitive now, with 4.0
First, try to format and restore your basic folders (music, pictures etc..) do not restore all useless folders or "junk" files... keep your SD card and input tray's contacts clean and firmly insert the card.
We'll see how it goes.... by the way, i have no tweaks from Pimp my rom for the microSD.
Ok I just reflashed (same V30B). I will conduct a 1 day validation to see if it is solved.
I had that problem a lot with rrgrrg's IceBOOM, only once in that week I used his 4.01 and non at all in the two days I use 5.01. But I must say that I heard from other ppl that use a v30b version, that they have it a lot and other ppl with the same ROM don't have it at all, so I gues it is a mix that some cards are more 'sensible' and some ROMs can handle it better.
tfs
again it unmounted. I guess we should wait for V30C (if it is ever released) hoping this bug was addressed.
Formatting the SD from the phone solves the problem ....
Save files first on the PC and then copy them back ..

I've had this happen with 28C. I've been using 30B that is not rooted and not had a problem at all. I'm starting to think it's the flash process. I erased all data on the SD card and flashed with Smart Flash. No problems seem it came out.
It is clear that the solution is a pain, but is the only one there ..

I know. I have two OB's and flashed both with 28C. Mine had the SD problem while the girl friends didn't.
