[Q] How to get origin of phone? Force update? - LG Optimus 2x

Hello everyone!
I've got a P990 with UK charger, but the box has "HKG" and "Certified for use in Hong Kong" printed on it.
When I try to update it with the LG Update Tool, it says it can not be updated, the phone is not supported.
- How can I find out, what is my phone's origin?
- How can I force a fully official update via LG updater? Is there a ROM, that I should flash before?
Thanks, Daniel

Are you on stock ROM? if NOT, you need to flash STOCK ROM first ( v10f FROYO Hongkong version), then you use the LG updater. as i can see in your signature, your on CM, you will not get any update.

Of course before the ROM update I've flashed back the stock rom. The Euro Open. That'S why I'm asking, which stock rom should I flash first.
Can I look it up based on the IMEI or the S/N?

You said that your phone is from Hongkong, so you need to flash the "original Hongkong Stock Froyo ROM" before using the LG Updater. Or you can the download the Gingerbread Hongkong Update from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041 and use Smartflash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070...

Yes, you can, there is a link floating round that you add your IMEI to and it'll give you a link.

[Q] gingerbread update issue

Hi everybody
I'm from Italy but I own a device imported from Holland (NLD) and doesn't seem it's going to get V20l update within few days. Is it possible to flash italian official V20l firmware and then unroot the phone in order to get gingerbread installed as it was downloaded by LG tool? This would make my phone an italian one? I mean that the next time an update will be available will I be able to install automatically the italian update from Lg Tool?
Thanks
Kind Regards
Stefano

Yes. Or you can smartflash a completely stock 20L ROM, download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041

No. The update tool sends the IMEI to the update server(s), which looks it up in its database to determine which country was the point of sale/intended market.
So the phone will still be identified as NLD, no matter which ROM you flash. (It may be possible to go to a service-center and have the IMEI re-assigned to Italy, not sure.)

[Q] Looking for LG stock ROM...

Bought this phone less than a week ago.
I am mad that I did not take a backup of the stock ROM
Immediately flashed it with CM7. Unstable performance, dropped calls, USB problems. I even tried Kang's version but not much success.
So I wanna rollback to stock ROM until some stable CM release comes along. I bought this phone in India.
Any good samaritan willing to share the ROM that I can flash my phone with.
Mucho gracias.

Sweet love of god. Hallelujah.
Is it safe or even recommended to grab other nations firmwares and when the phone boots just select your language? Then I imagine you would just need to set the APN's and done?
Or is there more to it then that?
It's safe (except for korean rom)

On the website there are multiple versions for India
V10A
V10B
V10D
V10F
V10G
How do I determine the right version?
The file extension is .kdz I believe some separate software is needed for flashing to stock ROM or will CWM recovery work here?
Gracias

froyo 2.2.2 newest version?

Apparently i'm running the latest version 2.2.2 according to the update app. Is this right?
Handset is simfree and unbranded. would it have been better to be network branded?

Ok first of all you mean the app from the settings menu right? Secondly this is the latest froyo but the firmware has moved on to gingerbread 2.3.4. But i don't think you can do this update OTA(over the air). So you need lg update tool to update via pc connection. Hope i helped and sorry for this but before you post something do a search.. that is why there are forum rules. To obey them.

Fair play regarding the forum rules.
I've got the update tool installed on the pc stating. The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update.
Country, uk
model lgp970
version v10b
Also pcsuite and all drivers installed,
It's a uk model, so can't as yet be upgraded by the lg tool

Well, as far as i know LG programs can do that on pc. I have encountered one or two myself. I can't explain it. I don't know if yours is different. But my guess is there isn't a V20 rom released for your country. So check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480392
even if no rom released for my country the R&D should work but apparently it isnt
so i need help upgrading to GB

Help:Restoring to stock without flashing a baseband

Hi Guys,
I am currently running temasek Kang 130. I have never flashed a baseband on my phone(I flash roms through recovery only).
1) That means I should still be running on the stock baseband(about phone says baseband is 1035.21_20110725) . Right?
2) So I should be able to return to pure stock by flashing a stock unrooted rom and removing CWM right?
3) If yes where can I find such roms???
PS: If there is noway but to go through flashing a baseband,How can I find whether I should flash v20m or v20l to return to stock(for warranty reasons)???
I am from India.
Thanks in advance

Edit: i used it before returning my phone for repairs at the service center

[Q] Update from 2.3.4 gingerbread to 2.3.6

Hey guys-
Looked for a thread about this and didn't find anything.
I read in some blog that in order to flash my stock rom to cyanogenmod 7.2, I need to have the latest gingerbread update.
a) is this true?
b) if so, how do I do it? Do I have to root it again once I get an official update?
thanks!
a. Nope. 2.3.4 is good. You can use 2.3.6 but not needed.
b. Yes, but as I said 2.3.4 works.
My baseband (stock ROM when I flashed CM is called baseband) is XXKPK 2.3.4. It works perfectly. But you need stock 2.3.6 from your country otherwise, 3G and GPS will not work.
So I purchased the phone in the country I live in - that mean I'm good to go?

Yes, as long as your phone is 2.3.x (Gingerbread) it's alright to flash CWM and then flash custom roms, don't have to be the latest version (2.3.6).

Yes. But if you want to update it to 2.3.6 you need to find a stock ROM from your country at samfirmware.com. But you don't need to update, because 2.3.4 is good. Now it depends on you.
