Guide to s-off and root! Quite easy method[only for hboot 1.13.0000 & 1.09.0000] - HTC Incredible S

Definitely this is not my own idea..i searched the forum and made easy for newbie users to s-off and root their devices!
S-OFF your HTC Incredible S
1. Download Windows version of Revolutionary tool from the website http://revolutionary.io/, keeping the browser windows open
2. Extract the zip file to a new folder
3. Connect your HTC Incredible S to your computer, making sure USB Debugging is enabled on the phone
4. Open the extracted Revolutionary folder right click on ‘revolutionary.exe’, select ‘run as administrator’.
5. Note down the provided key, go back to the original Revolutionary browser window and type the relevant information into the form to get a second key
6. Type the second key into the Terminal
7. Once it says everything was successful and asks if you want to flash Clockwork, type in ‘Y’.
8. Once completed, reboot your HTC Incredible S
9. Download this file from the site http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip
10. Copy the downloaded file to your root of your sd card
11. Start clockworkmod recovery (start it by following the below steps)
1. Unplug USB
2. Turn the device off
3. Hold volume down button (HOLD IT) and press power
4. Hboot will start. Navigate to recovery with the vol down button. Press power to select and enter recovery.
11. In clockworkmod recovery , select "install zip from sdcard"
12. Now select "Choose zip from sdcard"
13. Then select "su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip"
14. Then select "Yes - install su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip" to confirm
15. Then go back
16. Then reboot.
17. Finally you rooted!
Note : Please follow the steps correctly
Mainly follow the revolutionary steps correctly and enter the correct serial no. and beware of the uppercase and lowercase letters in the serial no.
Hey senior members crosscheck my process and let me know if i did anything wrong!
Happy hacking

How is this different from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
Both steps look the same, only the one on the other thread is using an official HTC unlocker while yours is using a 'developer preview'.
Which one is safer?

IF you use the unlock bootloader method u cannot claim your warranty because that method register your mobile's IMEI and serial number, so that if HTC see that they might void your warranty even you re-root it...

You need to either purchase a SIM Unlock code or use the XTC Clip on your IncS to SIM unlock it.

ya exactly and try this http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/htc-incredible-s-unlock

I would have liked this 2 months ago when I was rooting my phone!
:$
But these are the steps I followed after scouring and not finding it in one place.
This series of steps is quite different than the hboot unlocker method.
First, like poster pointed out, HTC will get your EMEI, as well that the revolutionary method requires the least number or fastboot commands at a prompt and doesn't require you to flash a new ROM in the process.
As well, there's the large difference that revolutionary io is SHIP S-off and the htc boot unlocker leaves the phone S-on, just allowing fast boot to give you custom recovery to install new ROMs, from what I read at the other thread..
What's the similarity except ability to install a new ROM? Looks like different method and slightly different implications...
Useful post!

sorry bro
Hey, just wanna know if this method of rooting will cause me to lose any data? Read in some threads the rooting(S-OFF/cwm) process will wipe your phone, because I've purchased quite a few in-app purchases and I don't think I can transfer the licenses if I were to have my phone wiped.

No, never it wont wipe until you install a custom rom!

hboot?
sir if i use the revolutionary, i will get a s-off and hboot enabled?

If you have HBOOT version 1.16, then you won't be able to use Revolutionary. If you have HBOOT version 1.13 or 1.09, then you can use Revolutionary and it will give you a HBOOT with S-OFF status.
For HBOOT version 1.16, you need to use the HTCDEV Unlock Bootloader procedure which will Enable/Unlock your bootloader but will not give you true S-OFF.

Ok your gonna need to do a couple of things.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105 you need a rooted ROM on your phone first.
then follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697 but of course don't do the revolutionary thing at the end, the reason I have asked to ROM again is the toolkit in the second post needs to be rooted to run.
This will take you back to Android 2.3.3, the fastboot menu also will have no trace of an unlocked boot loader as it will be relocked

Well you posted in the HTC Incredible S forum which uses a software/hboot based S-OFF solution.
It sounds like the method you used on your HTC device gave it permanent S-OFF, so I don't think there is anyway to turn it back to S-ON. But I suggest you post in the appropriate device forum for the HTC Amaze.

[Q] Need some help with Rooting the HTC Raider

Hi,
I am thinking about rooting my HTC Raider (Bell) X710a. I am, however, unable to find a simple enough method.
I came across this tool for the HTC Vivid (ATT) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003 And was wondering if I could use the tool on my HTC Raider.
If Not, Is there a super simple way to root my phone? I am really new to smartphones and am also fairly new to technology in general
Any Help would be greatly appreciated and thanked!
That's the method I used. I have the raider on rogers. I'm pretty sure it works for yours to. You have to unlock the bootloader first tho.
By the way that method is very simple. It doesn't get any easier in my opinion. Watch his video and follow the steps.

well when i did it it really didnt root it but unlock bootloader and flash the wildchild recovery when i go into hboot it says S-On so im guessing i didnt root it at all with the tool but i was able to flash a custom recoveyr

It won't say s-off even if you root the phone. You have to take certain steps to get s-off which is being worked on now. You should still be able to root your phone through wild child recovery. The option is there.

Go here, a video shows you how to root using the recovery.

sir perhaps you'd be able to help me out since i got the phone from rogers as well. so i did try to follow this tool and watch the video, but to no avail, still im not able to root my htc raider
now the video doesnt seem like a step by step tutorial for me so i just did exactly wht he was sayin. now due to prev attemt before using this tool, i was only successful with unlocking my bootloader; so i skiped the part where i have to unlock it.
i was able to flash the CWM 5.5.0.4 and used the backup/restore to make sure if anything happen i'd be bale to restore my phone. after that i went straight to permroot, and all i got on the promt command was some adb stuff out of date. i assumed maybe i had to flash kernel first to make it work, but thats the part where i got stock on the htc white screen logo. im not sure what i missed; maybe you could help me out and give me a step by step procedure...
i could really use some help

Sending My M8 for Repair, Which option should I choose?

Hi so basically my One M8 for Sprint is COMPLETELY BRICKED! The phone cannot be repaired as far as I know because it is not S-Off and I can only boot into boot loader.
Alright so here's the situation, I am going to setup a repair and my options are:
1. I send the phone in and they repair the phone.
2. I pay $20, ship my phone and after DIAGNOSTICS they send me a replacement phone NOT the original one.
3. I pay $30 BUT they ship me the phone first and can charge me full price if they reject my claim without my approval.
What do you guys think would be the best option? and what should I say is the reason I need the repair? Should I just say something like the speakers are not clear or the headphone jack doesn't work?
When I spoke with the rep it sounded like they are more concerned about any hardware defects rather than software but she did say any unauthorized software usage will result in denied repair.
Also, keep in mind the phone will only boot into BOOTLOADER and has the "Tampered" "Relocked" and "Security Warning" banner.
Thankyou.

If you can boot into the bootloader your m8 is NOT COMPLETELY BRICKED !..... you can try unlocking the bootloader again, reflashing a custom recovery and a rom.
He will need to pull the boot.img from the Rom since he is not s off.
Your phone is not bricked. By any chance did you do a backup before flashing a new Rom??

I believe there is a backup for you to use here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736048
The problem is you relocked the bootloader (as mentioned in your other post).
Have you try to get unlock_code from HTC ? I don't remember whether you can re-unlock the phone without a proper OS but worth a try.
What's your CID as I can't find it in other post.

Go to this link here and find the link to the 1.54.651.10 RUU (do not do this if you updated to the most recent update that added WiFi calling or if you have a Harman/Kardon version. There are links to the HK RUU's at this same link). Follow the instructions listed at that link to run the RUU. Afterwards your phone should be working fine.

Hi i am probably an idiot but is there a RUU for my phone? From the pic I uploaded do you know which ruu version I need? Since I am not S-off it has to be the exact version and the instruction you gave said:
"To run a RUU, simply download the RUU you wish to install to your PC, then connect your phone and PC via USB cable. Once connected, simply double-click the RUU file on your computer to start the installer, then follow the on-screen instructions. Normally, a RUU is run while the phone is booted to the OS but alternatively, can be run while the phone is connected to the computer via Fastboot USB mode. If your device is S-on you will need to relock your bootloader to run a RUU. Use the command "fastboot oem lock" to relock your bootloader (without quotation marks)."
But even after relocking my bootloader and using the 1.54.654.9 RUU .exe I get the error 131 on stage 1/7 Sending Signature. Please see the attached pics. BTW you don't know how much I appreciate your help and you will be compensated.

Use the RUU for the 1.54.651.10 update as I previously mentioned. This update is newer than the current software version you have. You can upgrade while S-on, you just can't go backwards (unless you're S-off). The RUU can be found in this post along with installation instructions. Try the install method that's mentioned in the post and then if that doesn't work try the PC method. If using the PC method make sure you see "Fastboot USB" hightlighted in red above the bootloader menu screen prior to running the RUU. This means that your phone and PC are properly connected.

How to root the HTC Desire 510

Okay guys and gals,
Today I'm gonna be giving you some directions on how to root the HTC Desire 510.
Steps:
1. What your gonna need is your phone, a usb, and a pc. (I used my xperia z as my pc)
2 Your gonna need to download [THIS]. This is the recovery image your gonna need. Just download that and put the file in a folder on your desktop or somewhere you'll remember.
3. Next your gonna want to reboot your phone into fastboot and connect it to your pc.
4. Next on your pc pull up cmd. (search cmd in the start menu) and type "fastboot devices" without the quotes and hit enter. If it shows your device your ready to move on.
5. Now your going to want to change your directory to where the image you downloaded is with a command similar to this "cd C:\users\xxx\desktop\recovery folder". Next rename the image to something simple like flash.img and type this into cmd "fastboot flash recovery flash.img" after doing that you should be able to boot into twrp from the hboot menu on your device.
6. Next on your computer download the su binary zip here. After downloading it reboot your device and copy it to your internal storage and reboot back to your recovery. Then in your recovery go find the supersu-v2.16.zip and flash it then reboot normally. Your device should now be rooted.
Thanks for all your help

Could anyone tell me why when I try to unlock my boot loader and go to get the token it tells me my token length is inccorrect. Is there any reason why this is happening?

I did do that I tried multiple times. Also when I try to run the fastboot from HTC site it keeps telling me something about missingadbapi.dll
2858
Worked like a charm. Much appreciated
Many Thanks! Phone Rooted! but i had 1 question whats the difference between this recovery.img(10,594kb) and the one on twrp website which is 10,480kb in size. just wondering? thanks
This worked great for me, thanks! It was my first root ever, and I had some guidance along the way, but this thread as well as the one to unlock the bootloader were very useful. The only snag was HTC took forever to email me the key.
Thanks again!

is there a way to get s-off yet?
Works for HTC Desire with model # 0PCV1?

Okay guys and gals,
Today I'm gonna be giving you some directions on how to root the HTC Desire 510. Basically what your gonna need is your phone, a usb, and a pc. (I used my xperia z as my pc) Over HERE is the recovery image your gonna need. Just look for the download. So download that file and put it in the root of your hard drive. Next your gonna want to reboot your phone into fastboot and connect it to your pc. Next on your pc pull up cmd. (search cmd in the start menu) and type "fastboot devices" without the quotes and hit enter. If it says its not a command or something like that head (here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790) and follow the directions. After that type fastboot devices again and hit enter. If it shows your device your ready to keep moving on. Your going to want to change your directory to where the image you downloaded is with a command similar to this "cd C:". Next rename the image to something simple like img.img and type this into cmd "fastboot flash recovery img.img" after doing that you should be able to boot into twrp from the hboot menu on your device. Next on your computer download the su binary zip here. After downloading it reboot your device and copy it to your internal storage and reboot back to your recovery. Then in your recovery go find the supersu-v2.16.zip and flash it then reboot normally. Your device should now be rooted.

I am reading that this seems to work on HTC Desire 510 devices however I know that Boost Mobile had its own little version of the HTC Desire 510 with the model number 0PCV1 and ive read a lot of threads stating that it was unable to be rooted. So before I started to touch anything I was wondering if this for sure will work with my HTC Desire 510 with model number 0PCV1. Thanks.
Have Boost HTC 510 OPCV1 and I'm unlocked and rooted. Only downside is the unlock threw it to s-on and it says tampered in hboot.

Okay well its good to know rooting is possible. However the downside sounds iffy to me, I guess since Ive never rooted an android device yet. I have previously jailbreak'd an iPhone 5c on iOS 8.1
Does the s-on effect anything? And what about the hboot flagging as tampered?
The downsides is really nothin. I'm on the 510 right now so hope this explains it pretty well: htcdev.com/bootloader/about_unlock_process

Okay that explains it pretty well to me. My final questions if your hanging around the thread, did you use this original posting to root your device?

[Q] Tampered, Relocked and Security Warning!

So I have a HTC Desire 510 and I had happened to unlock it, but through trial and error of rooting I relocked it. When trying to unlock it again I get stuck at the bootlader unlock scrreen as to whether or not to unlock or keep it locked. I have the message "entering recovery" at the top and disclaimer message at the bottom and that's where it stays until I choose "Too Keep it Locked". I am clueless as to what to do. Can Someone Help me?
HBOOT: 3.19

Any Help is much appreciated

Happened to me, i had to go out and buy another phone. Stock recovery is needed to unlock your bootloader as it is part of the process. The device needs to wipe to unlock. Your phone will still work in normal mode but fastboot is pretty much useless until you can restore. Sorry. :crying:

Is there a possible way to restore at this point? Maybe a stock rom? When I go to HBOOT Mode it shows I have no .img files. Is there a place to get them and restore back to my phone?

unfortunately if you had them you wouldn't be able to flash them to the phone because the bootloader is locked without recovery. otherwise i would've done just that.

as of right now yeah. the alternative would be waiting for HTC to release a restore software. or having someone come up with a crazy way to get around a locked bootloader.

Just fyi, this doesn't do this: Removing Security Warning On HTC Devices On HBOOT OR FASTBOOT
All this does is unlock the bootloader. You'll actually get the Unlocked or Tampered (depending on what you do) warning by doing this. To reset the flag you'll have to trigger it so that it thinks it's not been tampered with... and to remove the red text, you'll have to flash a red text removed hboot, which is available on the forums for those with S-OFF.
The reason why I put these instruction s on here for people to get their HTC device unstuck or unbrick their device people would try to lock the bootloader it would only show security warning on hboot all they have to do is follow these instructions to get their device out of hboot or security warning it happened to me I have found the solution to get out of the hboot or security warning and I have figured it to re unlock the bootloader
Sent from my HTC Desire 510 using XDA Free mobile app

please help to unlock the new bootloader. It is that I'm in the same situation.
Bootloader RELOCKED - HELP!
In bootloader i see "RELOCKED". When I flash again the bin file, it tries to reboot to recovery, but it enters in a loop (entering recovery for ea second, showing some lines and restart and so on), and the bootloader remains "RELOCKED".
PLEASE HELP!
I'm having the same problem. My boot loader says:
Code:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** RELOCKED ***
*** Security Warning ***
And when I try to unlock it by selecting yes in the bootloader unlocker menu the only thing that happens is that some text gets layered on to the menu, at the bottom the disclamer is displayed and at the top it says Entering Recovery...
But nothing ever happens after that. So the only thing i can do is select No instead.
I'd really appreciate some help cause I don't wanna have to get a new phone.

I'm noticing that most of you guy's are stuck in the bootloop after unlocking the bootloader but that's because you didn't flash a recovery now I'm also noticing and guessing that most of you guy's right here on page number 2 are not living in the USA and if that's the case then you guy's most likely have the 64 bit versions so you can never ever flash anything that's for 32 bit only now to help you with the recovery there's only one that's 64 bit for the phone you have and it's called Philz Touch Recovery so you need to search for that here in the xda forums and then after that follow instructions on how to flash recovery!!

Could you please help me with more details on this?
I need to do exactly that - remove the "TAMPERED" and "UNLOCKED" messages on top of bootloader. It is US phone
However i am NOT S-OFF. I thought to get S-OFF you need to flash a new bootloader anyway??
TIA
