I have a same problem here,
I am using Cassie's XtraLiteRom KL3 ThunderBolted! V4
Everything good but today I just notice that my vibration is not working anymore.
Please help!

I have the AT&T version and I'm having the same issue. After a factory reset the vibration for notifications works again but then eventually stops working again...

no vibration
Mine stopped working recently. Not sure how to fix it. Is it something I installed? It does not vibrate for incoming texts or phone calls.

Flashing a stock ROM fixed this for me. I've seen others say that fixing permissions or wiping dalvik will fix too.
Only time this happens to me is when flashing ROMs
I'm sure this makes no difference but when I flash a ROM, I leave those bottom settings under Sound as the defaults. Aka haptic on.

I'm running the stock AT&T ROM. Do I need to be rooted to wipe the dalvik cache? What does "fix the permissions" mean? THANX!

That shouldn't happen running bone stock. Try a factory reset first if you have not done so already. Don't install any apps. Run the phone for a day. If your issue returns I would swap the phone out for a replacement.
The haptic motors in every Android device I've ever owned has done some weird thing or another. I stopped using it. Why blow the motor out early? Vibrate on silent for notifications I found to be sufficient. At first I was put off by changing my using habits but disabling haptic feedback has grown on me.
EDIT: I see you did a factory reset and it came back. I'd exchange for a different handset. Just me though. Someone here might have another solution

THANKS!!!!

It's old topic, I know, but Im bumping it. Vibrations in external apps like facebook messenger or kakaotalk doesnt work for me, but for normal messages, phone calls etc it works, so I doubt its fault of phone. And in my Galaxy Ace before I had same issue, but it just stopped working after some update from devs of this apps i said. Though it would be strange that only few people has such problems. I think its something about settings or w/e, can anybody help here in this thread without saying 'factory reset or exchange phone' ?
Thanks <3

[Q] Phones vibration capability disappeared?

My phone stopped vibrating on notifications and incoming calls for some reason. So did my brothers at the same time. It'll still vibrates on screen unlock and haptic feedback. I have my e-mail set to vibrate only, sometime it'll vibrate, but more often than not, it wont. But never for notifications or calls. And yes i checked all the settings i could. (That i know of)
It first started when we switched to aosp mod from cm 6.1. So I tried flashing back to cm6.1(jaybob version) hoping it would fix, but it didn't. Yes, I did all the full wipes and everything. I really don't wanna RUU to see if its the phone or just the roms. I mean, it happened to my brothers phone at the same time, that can't just be coincidence.
Has anyone else seen this? or know what iI can try before I RUU?
i downloaded an app called sound manager. its free on the market. in there i clicked menu, vibrate settings. i enabled all the vibrate settings. tested it, then deleted the app. that reenabled my vibrations for messages and calls.

on aospMOD go into sound settings and for vibrate make sure you have it set to something other than never
Tried both of those suggestions and neither worked. Vibrate was set to always already.
I don't understand cause haptic feedback works but the actual vibrating will not.

[Q] Incoming Ringtone not working, Froyo 2.2.1 XXJPU

I just flashed the ROM to stock XXJPU 2.2.1..
Everything's outstanding except the incoming call ringtone and vibration..
Whenever someone calls me up, the ringtone sounds for some miliseconds.. and then it's just gone... no vibration in silent mode.. no ringtone in general mode..
I never faced this problem before but facing this after I flashed to XXJPU..
Any solution?
Very strange, I haven't had this happen at all and I'm using JPU.
Ahh..
The message notification is working like a charm but the problem is with incoming calls only :S
Checked all the volumes, ringtones, nothing works. Even the vibration mode is not working.. Phone remains silent while someone calls me up.
wow...
maybe u have the bad firmware... so where can u download this firmware.... any links? and do i need the password on the zip file???
Both my girlfriend and myself have a similar problem, oddly enough we have different firmware and models. Call ringtones and message alerts rarely work. E-mail notifications and such are fine. I've got an 16 GB Australian GT-I9000 (Optus) running JPU. However my girlfriend has a 8 GB GT-I9000 (International) running the latest official (Kies) firmware, JPO.
We're both with different telecomm providers so I don't think it's a network related issue. I'm a little surprised to find that so few other people have the same problem. I'm a bit busy of late but I'll see what I can find out. If anyone else has any information please don't hesitate to share it.
I have exactly the same problem, since I upgraded to JPU. With my previous upgrades, I had no problem so it seems to be a JPU's bug. But, why only some of us are concerned ?
What could I do ? Any ideas ??

I just "fixed" mine somehow by fiddling with settings. I probably shouldn't have done so as now I don't actually know what the problem was (so I can't make a real fix). However, I just tried reselecting my call ringtone, message ringtone, changed my volume up and down, turned silent on and then back off a couple times and enabled vibrate for all calls (not just on silent). Then the next time I got a SMS it worked. I don't know if it will stay working though.
Thanx for answering ! Me, I have no problem with SMS notification. Only calls ring. But, I will follow your note : play with volumes, mp3, sounds, notification modes, ...
I just notice that an icon appeared just a semi-second after a call arrives : that's the "Silent mode activated" icon (an HP with a slash on it !). But I'm not in silent mode !
I had this problem, so I re-flashed and only restored apps and not system data, everything is fine now.
Hey, that's fine, I've found the reason why my phone stopped to ring : an app not compatible with version 2.2.1 called NetQin Mobile Manager v3.2 ! I just uninstalled it and my phone found back his voice ! lol !

[Q] Quick Question about Serendipity ROM

Just flashed Serendipity, so far I like it. I do have one quick question tho:
Is it possible to have my phone set up to vibrate when I receive Texts/Phonecalls with this ROM?
I've tried everything that I can think of in the settings menu and haven't had any luck yet. And I searched the Serendipity ROM thread but didn't find anything specifically talking about this.

Go to Settings->Sound and set Vibrate to always, but I don't know that that works for SMS, you may have to set that manually, so go into the SMS app, then go menu->settings there, then go to notification settings and set vibrate to always in there as well.
In the sound settings, gor for the last option. It's disabled, so choose the option above it, turn it on, set the vibrate strenght and turn off the above one, it will save the options and vibration strength.
Attempted both of those:
I have my vibration intensity turned up to the maximum level and still have absolutely no vibration whatsoever.
Does anyone know of a vibration fix or anything for the Captivate that might alleviate this issue?
Try this: go into the SMS app>Settings>Notification Settings>Vibrate Pattern
You can set it to Normal/Medium/Long/Multiple Short/Multiple Long.
That should work for you!

I believe you are talking about the "Haptic Feedback", right? If so, then I don't think this effects incoming notifications. That is only for the vibration per screen touch...
Tried what you mentioned seth and still have no luck.
I have no haptic feedback and have no vibration when receiving a phonecall or text message.
I attached some screen captures I took showing that I have the proper boxes checked.
I have no vibration whatsoever however. I receive no haptic feedback when I hit my home soft key and I receive no vibration when I receive a text/phone call.
I'm kind of at a loss for what to do because I haven't seen any other threads about similar issues around the forum. Any ideas?
edit: oh, BTW, I flashed back to stock and then flashed Phoenix ROM thinking maybe I had a bad flash with the flashing of the Serendipity ROM but the problem persists.

Hmm. Well that sucks.
The loss of my haptic and vibration is really the only thing not working exactly like I want it to so I guess I'll just do without unless something else begins to act up.
Thanks for the input tho.

Happened on my iPhone before I got my Captivate. Got so used to it, I disable all vibrating/haptic on every rom anyway.
Most of the time if you are having trouble with vibration settings, download the "Sound Manager" app from the Market. It can fix a lot of notification problems.
Anyone besides me notice this is posted in the COMPLETELY wrong section?

[Q] Keyboard click and vibration of on selection of menus.

Does anybody have issues with the keyboard click sound being to low,the locking and unlocking sound also low, music, calls, video play loud, and the vibrate feedback when selecting menus and soft keys are very faint but when I receive calls it's fine. it did this in stock rom, then I rooted to see if it would solve the problem but it did not. Moved on to the .893 custom rom hoping it would fix issue it has not. All volumes are up and have not dropped the phone, also tried to restored back to stock a couple of times and and rooted again re-download custom roms still no luck fixing this, could this be a hardware issue? or should I try to explain to the rep that the phone should not do this and see if I get another phone.

HTC One - Vibration stopped working after 4.4 kitkat update

Hi,
I have an HTC One (m7) international version, and after 4.4 kitkat update, it slowly lost it's vibration and heptic feedback function until it completely stopped this weekend, even with power save mode turned off, and all the configurations properly set.
I've tried returning to my latest 4.3 jellybean nandroid backup from Dec-23, but the problem still ocurred.
After that, I've restored the 4.4 kitkat nandroid backup I've made this morning, and installed the "Vibrate Plus" app from the play store. After playing with it for a few minutes without any success, I've realized that the vibration function only works, with the phone screen facing down. As soon as I lift the phone from the table or turn it up in my hand, it stops vibrating.
If, instead of the "Pattern Vibration" function, I choose the "Simple Vibration", which keeps the phone vibrating constantly, I have a few seconds of vibration with the screen facing up, after lifting the phone from the table, until it stops working again.
---
I've found this single thread (URL = www (dot) htconeforum (dot) com /forum/htc-one-help/2341-vibrate-function-has-stopped-new-htc-one-m7.html) (can't post the URL here) where a guy has the same problem I have and had his phone replaced by HTC; but since Brazil does not have official HTC assistance, I probably am going to have it fixed myself, just as I did with my former HTC One X and it's GPS issue.
The problem is, I can't seem to find any other report from this same problem, other than this thread, and I also am having a hard time finding detailed instructions on how to open this phone for servicing, so, any help regarding any of these is really welcome.
Thank you very much, in advance.

Don't know why I pressed thanks button instead of quote. Ignore it..
Coming to the issue, did you the Trickster mod? You could set the vibration intensity there.. Install from Playstore.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Hi,
I've downloaded the trickster mod, and set up the vibration intensity to 3100 (max).
With this new setting, the problem seems to be fading away... yesterday, the vibration function failed to work only twice, and today, it has worked fine the entire day.
I cannot think of a reasonable explanation for this, I really tought it was a hardware problem, but it seems to be working a lot better now.
Thank you very much!!!

I guess it's still better to check with service center once, you never know it could be a hardware problem and you might get a replacement for this

After the vibration issue was solved, the earpiece became mute at random times during calls so I gave up from KitKat... too much trouble, not so much attractive new features.
I'm back with ARHD 31.0, Jellybean 4.3... it's perfect.
This version works fine for me.
After all the problems I've had, I think I'll never try to update my phone again, unless there's some sort of "killer feature" in the new version.
Good luck!
