Random WIFI MAC Change problem after this week update - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have my router using MAC filter and after the latest upgrade I notice that my phone is not connected to my network anymore. I tried to connect again and nothing worked. I went to my router and turned off the MAC filter and the phone connect without any problem. I checked the MAC list and the phone has a new MAC address now.
I did some tests and if I delete the network and restart the phone the MAC change again. If I remove the put the battery. The MAC change again.
Now I cant use the MAC filter in my house anymore.
Anybody with the same problem?
Could you please test in you phones?
looks like the firmware broke my wifi.
Regards,

MAC address changing is caused by ISharing driver(s).

I may be mistaken, but I can't see where you saw a mention of a fix coming on that page?

[Q] Need Help with WiFi

I am running aospmod 9.7.
deca's latest kernel ( CFS )
Setcpu set at 710 max-245min
i can connect to almost any router except for one
I am sitting a few feet from a buffalo nfinity highpower router and I can't even see it with my hero.
The bad part is that the two Iphones that co-workers have can connect without a problem

I am using aosp's stock kernel and I have that exact same router with no issues. I am using WEP encryption. I have no suggestions, but thought if you know what is working it might help.
i got it fixed. that router for some reason doesn't show up if it is configured as an access point.

Well, at least you got it
now i am having problems with it again.
I can't see the router anymore.
if i restart it i can see it for a few min and connect to it but then it fails.
I tried to wipe and re install 9.7 but that didn't help either.
I am taking a lot of abuse from these Iphone guys.....

I have two Buffalos, both set up as access points, and I can connect to both with my Hero.
Firmware issue with the Buffalo?
Unfortunately This is a work router so the IT guy is not giving me access to the router settings. I am going to try a different ROM and see if it is truly the router or the phone.
The IT guy has an Iphone so he is really laughing at me now.
Try changing the wifi setting channel in CM6 go to wifi settings and hit the home button then hit advance and choose try a different channel its 11 by default hope it helps
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
i did and nothing.
i was wondering if there was something i could change in the build.prop or some other file.
I would try a different rom also I remember being @ a hotel in Houston and I could connect to the network but no access until I realized I had to go open up my browser and accept the terms and what not of there network don't know if this will help but thought I'd post it in case it might also try a diffent kernel good luck
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
tried liquidsense tried cm6.1 tried and will stay with aosp 9.8
may still try to ruu then see.
well super good luck dude hope u get it worked out

the ruu did not help so i am left with nothing but a problem with the router

Hi
Like in the title : The wifi in my S+ keeps randomly disconnecting, on various roms (starting from branded play 2.3.4 rom, then on 2.3.5, and now on 2.3.6)
What seems to be the problem ? is it hardware fault ?
I read, in few other threads, that other people, had in some kind of way a similiar problem...

try to assign staitc ip............it happened in i9003 too
download a root explorer, go to data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and set: update_config to 0 and priority to 1, it doesn't solve the problem but it gets a little better

ive not dropped wifi since and i had it with 4 diffrent ROMs im now using XXKPS 2.3.6
I've set static ip on my phone, switched DHCP lease setting to 2 days, and now testing...
Thanks Guys much love
Here comes super mega answer, which is worth finding Thank You button -
1.) Open dialer and enter *#*#526#*#*
2.) Come back and say that your wifi works without any issues.

i guess he means 528 instead of 526. *#*#528#*#* is the wifi test mode which loads the wifi drivers automatically.

Yeah there are plenty of those codes actually.
for example:
*#*#7780#*#* factory reset
*2767*3855# factory format (everything wiped, also the internal sd card)
*#*#1575#*#* gps test
*#*#1234#*#* pda phone version
*#*#1111#*#* fta sw version
*#0*# lcd test (cool one )
*#*#2664#*#* touchscreen test
they should work on every android device. try google to find more
Thanks mate
So after the tips from Sakindia and BackDaws, when i changed the phones ip to static, and changed the routers DHCP settings, i have no more problem with the wifi connection.
Thanks again guys
I hope, that this thread will be helpfull fo other S+ users

If it is set to static ip and you changed dhcp settings it is only solution for your home network, not anywhere in public, right?

This was exactly the cure for the problem, I can also confirm it. I tried several things, such as exchanging config files between several ROMs, what a waste of time
But I'm still wondering why 2.3.4-2.3.6 can not work with forever leasing time... It's bad.
p.s.: for me no static IP needed for proper work
Thanks for sharing this BackDaws!

Wi-Fi not connecting

When turning on Wi-Fi, it's saying connecting and then disconnected, but below that notification says wi-fi available (status Excellent)
Tried all ROMs CM10, Zeus v7, and UltraICS ROM
With all of above ROMs, problem existed.
Waiting for solution..

Yes, I realized that after some time, it is supposed to be in Q&A. Because I posted it in hurry while doing work.
I thought to put a request to moderators to move this to Q&A and I thought no need to do that for this little thing.
I forgot you and your followers at that time, or else I would have requested moderators....

maybe your modem issue? or adsl or whatelse issue?
maybe your device damaged
you should paste a logcat
and tell more information...

It's causing the wi-fi problem.
In 2nd page of v30b ICS user manual, a special indication about wi-fi region wise, maybe that's the culprit for wi-fi problem.
This problem usually happens when you are using a wifi modem with a mac address filtration or something
Try looking in the modem's settings about mac address options

Thanks for reply, but before wi-fi problem I am using it for 2 years with no problem of mac address or anything else, (wi-fi is open without password)
After flashing Zeus, UltraICS, and CM10 alternating with multiple times, get wi-fi problem gone away on CM10 now, maybe if I flash some ROM, problem may arise again.
Now again, no problem with mac address or anything.
try with another device. if it's ok, it will mean that the the issue is on phone side
it's not mac address problem then
It's causing the wi-fi problem.

Yes, I have used it with numerous phones and laptops etc and never had any trouble with it. I am going to try flash a ftf and see if it fixes it.
That didnt help it, I also flashed Miui and it still doesnt work.
If it makes any difference my phones bootloader cannot be unlocked.

Umm, did you try to change the safty to WPA2?
Might also be a problem with the WiFi module.. Maybe try the warranty service, if your phone is new?

No, I bought it second hand, I managed to get it to connect once earlier after removing security but its not working anymore.
Edit: When I have no security on the phones says "obtaining ip address" for about 20 seconds and then seems to reset itself and repeat.

I have checked but it does not resolve the issue. I'm confused, don't know what to do again. Is it possible to revert the last update I did, I believe it is the culprit. Or is there another solution to this?
