Quickoffice

Hey all, I uh pulled the quick office APk off my Aria and tried to install on my tab. Got it to install, but it fc when I try to open it. What did I miss?

So I tried the search on our forums but two threads pop-up. This one and one talking about seeing it in market. I have the apk. Now, without answering me, I just need a gentle push in the right direction. How should I word the search to find my answer? I ask li,e this cuz I know how much most of you hate answering questions by device noobs like me.

I don't have an answer for your question but just wanted to say that I don't think anyone here hates answering questions. I kind of like it if I know the answer and can help. It is only when people ask the same questions over and over again without trying to help themselves that people get tired of it.
We were all noobs at one point. So don't be afraid to ask.. Now, I just wish I could help with your question

I pulled the QuickOffice APK off my Droid2 and put installed it on my GTab, and had no problems. I am not sure why it would be failing on you. I see you are using TnTLite, while I am using Vegan.

same using quick office on vegan 5.1, and it works just fine.

I think the versions of QuickOffice pre-installed on phones are device-specific. I know I couldn't get the Droid 2 version to run on my GTablet - which is fine because, technically, that would be stealing.
I'm waiting to see if anyone comes out with a tablet-ready office suite before I plunk down any virtual bucks, though.

I think it is sonething to do with it being device specific, cuz the apk file has a .htc part in it and that is who makes my phone. I will buy it if it comes up and without a doubt supports the tab running tnt 4.0 lite, I just want to be sure. Mostly I wanted to see if I could do it. Knowledge is a great and powerful weapon, regardless as to how mundane it may seem

Had issues with QuickOffice and then I downloaded the trial app for Documents To Go from the market on my Gtab (after the market fiction on TNT Lite) and then egistred it from their web site. I've been using it since the middle of November without issues.

docs to go
I bought docs to go for my evo! Installed on my grab then sent an email to the developer asking how I could register the tablet version since I already owned it for android! They sent me Instructions on how to insert my code into the tablet version and now I have full versions on both. paying only once! Hope this helps! By the way docs to go is far superior than quick office!

QuickOffice downloaded from Market
I was able to buy and download QuickOffice from the Android Market on my G Tablet and it works fine for me. It has even downloaded at least one "update" and still works fine.

Office is one of a few apps that I don't see with tnt4.0. I saw it with vegaN 5.1. Its funny how certain apps appear with each Rom.

I had the same problem until I went into root explorer and changed the user permissions. works fine now.

[Q] [Sprint] Better Than Life EF17 ROM, Missing Market Apps/Movies

So a few days ago, I flashed the Larger Than Life EF17 ROM that recently came out. I loved having a rooted Tab with Froyo so i jumped when i saw it in Gingerbread.
I am having one annoying problem though. I am unable to find a few apps on the Anidroid Market that were there on stock Gingerbread. The main two i can think of are Netflix and Documents2Go. I purchased the activating/key program for D2G and can find that but no luck on the main app.
I dont absolutely need Netflix but D2G is my favorite office app and use it nearly daily.
The other oddity is that in the latest market, it shows Books for purchase but i dont see a single movie to rent. The entire movie section is missing from the market.
I understand this is likely causes by the device fingerprint but i dont know what to change it to.
Does anyone have any ideas on what i could do to get back the apps i had in stock EF17? I would have replied to the ROM thread in the Development forum but i havent posted enough on the xda forums to do so.

There are ways to fix the symptoms very easily, but it won't fix the problem you're describing. I've got a netflix apk I can post that should work(don't have d2g). But like I said, won't make apps come up in the market.

i've got the same issue, and cannot update my system apps in the market (says I am up to date, even though I am not).
i keep just pulling them down off my phone and emailing them to myself, but that gets old

Disappearing apps

Well, one minute apps were there, then the next minute I couldn't find them.
It looks like transferring apps from the system memory to the sdcard is the cause of this. I didn't have this problem when I had Tbolt. Can somebody duplicate this problem?
Also, I managed to crash the system while copying 300+ files from one folder in sdcard to another folder in internal memory . The screen went black and buttons weren't responding. I had pull the battery out to reboot.
Moto worked on this phone for additional 9 months and still has bugs like these? All these are not good at all.

I had similar problems. After installing apps from the market, I could use them, but after reboot some would be gone. One app that was giving me fits was the xda premium app. I think I reinstalled our about 5 times.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was playing the free version of Tetris that EA put on the Market, and I got a call while I was playing.
I picked up the call, finished it, and when I went back to the Home screen I held down the Home button to go to recently used apps and Tetris wasn't there. So I went into my App list and... Tetris wasn't there.
I went into the Market, and it said it was never installed.
Either I hallucinated the half hour before a phone call interrupted my psychotic perceptions of tetriminos, or the phone deleted the app all on its own.
Really strange.

It just happened again. I was transferring some files to the internal memory to sdcard, and the screen didn't wake up. It seems the system is running behind the screen, but I can't see anything on the screen.

I too have seen my XDA app disappear. Based on the layout of the stock launcher now I know other apps are missing, I just haven't figured out what...

Had same issue after reboot. Had to re-install apps. I've haven't tried to reboot again. I did download MyBackup so went ahead and backed up my apps and data. The weird thing is, when my apps disappeared and I had to re-install them, they didn't need my usernames or pws to be re-entered. So it seems the data was still there.
UPDATE: Rebooted and it happened again.

Same issue here, lost about 8 apps after reboot

Happening to me as well, I just moved everything back from the card onto the phone

I was able to fix the apps disappearing by going into manage applications then the media area tab and making sure that no apps were checked. Any that were I moved back to the phone.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the Bionic, like the D3, is configured differently than other Android phones. The /sdcard partition is actually the internal storage... part of the 16GB the advertise as internal. The removable SDcard is /sdcard-ext. Not sure if that is a contributing factor. I've not seen that problem but I'll keep an eye out for it.

I'm coming from a og droid, so moving apps to the sd card is like second nature to me. I feel i just have to do it even though this phone has so much internal srorage in comparison. Is it possible that the problem is the sd card itself?

I didn't think about that, so when you move them is it going to the sd ext or the internal storage (sd). I did notice the sd and sd ext are different.

The same thing happens on reboot for me as well. I just go into titanium and restore each time which is a pain in the a$$.

On the phone with motorola customer service now. Not getting warm fuzzy feeling. They suggest that i turn the phone off and remove the battery.... thanks (that's sarcasm in case you can't tell)

Ah, the most beloved suggestion among customer services....

so unlike other android phones currently in the market, MOTO made the real sdcard (sdcard-ex) almost obsolete. It's only dedicated for media storage and sharing.

This is so utterly ridiculous. I had to put all of my apps BACK onto my phone. Why even offer the extra storage if we can't use it to store what we'd like. I don't keep that much media on my phone.

Anyone tried another sd card? I'm thinking about wiping the one from my old phone and putting it in this bionic.

I have a 32gb I pulled from Tbolt, and I formatted it. One thing odd though, Titanium only reports 29gb available instead of 31~32 after the format.

Amazon Appstore app

I can't get the Amazon Appstore app to install. It gives me the message "Do you want to install this application? It will get access to:" then a list of areas and boxes for cancel or install. When I click install nothing happens. The cancel box works. (I did check the unknown sources in settings)
If it is being blocked by Google, that would suck.

I'm pretty shure its being blocked by Google.

If it's being blocked I might return my Nexus 7. It would suck that they would only let you buy apps from them.

Not true it's working for me. Go to Amazon& request a new link to be sent to your email.

Thats strange, i was able to do it on my N7. Maybe a reboot of some sort?

Works fine here. Go into Setting>Security and check Allow unknown sources. Go to Amazon web site and follow instructions to download and install. Did that to download an older version of a zombie killing game that works on N7.

Works fine for me. I use it every day to get the free "cr"app of the day.

Try rebooting it then re-installing.

If you're installing it from a previous backup from another device, it most likely won't work (not assuming you are, but just in case...) Like the others said, go to Amazon and get it directly and you should have no problem.

What worked for me was clicking the link for tablets. It says something like "no email or phone number, click here" and that downloaded the APK directly into my system download folder. From there it installed just fine. I had to do this to get it on my Google TV also. It seems to bypass some sort of test since the Google TV isn't officially compatible with it.

I just worked with an Amazon tech, got it to install using by going to this like in the browser on the N7.

Works fine now.

Mine installed fine. I used the APK from my phone. Got a bunch of the nicer FAOTD apps working perfectly too.

Idk man, I've gotten a few awesome ones for free, like quick office, sketchbook mobile, and some games like monopoly for free.

I find it incredible that everyone is giving Amazon a free pass for contributing to the Android Malware myth.
The fact you have to enable side loading on an Android phone to allow Amazon, means any other malware could also slip in. Using Amazon app store is a REALLY bad idea (plus the fact it's a barren wasteland compared to Google Play, and most of the apps are really out of date versions).
Surely the lure of free versions of old apps is not that strong that you want to open your phone up to allsorts of Android malware nasties?

Bugger the Apps they get games too. Of course only if you're from a certain country.

Majority of the free apps are a joke.
I usually check it every day and realize they're all trash (except maybe 2 apps so far) and then I uninstall it. For some reason I get struck with the idiotic idea that I may be missing out on some good free apps, so I stupidly install it again in hopes of some decent apps...... it never happens

That's what most people think. Once you discover what Amazon are offering for free is basically stuff that deserves to be free anyway, make sure you re-tick the Android security setting and revert back to the proper Android store that Google host.

When it first came out, it was great. Now, the free app is usually a very crappy game. In the past, I got:
Fancy Widgets Pro, Weatherbug Elite, Thumb Keyboard, App 2 SD Pro, Moon Phase Pro, Quickoffice Pro, SoundHound Infinity, Shazam, SwiftKey 3, and several other good ones.

1. I've never once gotten malware and I always sideload apps. I always leave that setting unticked as do most folks I'm sure.
2. having Amazon app store or any other app store doesn't change your default android Google play store.
You want malware, go download Blackmarket apps or pirate stuff, you'll get it then. I do suggest tho, that everyone should install a malware scanner. Avast, lookout, etc.

What? Side loading doesn't put you at any greater risk of malware. You always choose to install an app, whether you side loaded it or not.
Nothing wrong or risky with downloading the Amazon app store, being able to choose a different app store is one of the best things about android. CHOICE.

Adobe Touch Apps

After being able to install google apps (minus chrome and the newest google+ app?), I am quite happy with the Fire HD.
I have been able to find apk's to sideload most of the apps that are free that I want and then they update via the playstore like normal so far. Only exception being Google+ app is still running the older style before the major revamp.
I have purchased 2 of the Adobe Touch apps, Photoshop Touch and Proto and would love to be able to use them on my Fire. I don't want to steal an apk from a third party site since I have legitimately purchased them. Is there a way to pull an apk from a different tablet I have of those apps? Or if I obtained one from a third party site, would they update like the others have properly?
As a side note, when running Go Launcher, I am unable to run the Kindle app. I haven't had time to search the forums here, but I do know there have been posts related to that issue, so ignore this comment really until I can find out if it has been answered.
Lastly, the magazine subscriptions I have done through the Kindle Launcher, how are those accessed using GoLauncher? Or can they not be?

If your other devices are rooted, you can pull the apk from them, under data/app; normally shown as com.name.name.apk but there are icons also to help you identify.

I used the kindle app in the market and got all my books to start working. Not sure about magazines though, but you can sync it.

I'm not sure if this means the play Store version will be updated to install on the Fire Hd's or not, but I hope it does. I don't want to purchase a second copy, but may if it's optimized for the 7" version.
Seems to only be Photoshop Touch at this point, but I'm hopeful for Proto and others as well. Haven't been able to do much more than read about it from work at this point but thought it worth mentioning.

One last update for this. The other day Adobe did indeed update their Play Store version of Photoshop Touch to work with 7" tablets. This did work with the other problems for me on my Fire HD. Was able to just go to the store and click install.
So for those wanting this on 7" tablets, it now works! I hope they do this with the other touch apps soon as well.
