Liberty v1 & v2 not asking for DHCP - Motorola Droid Bionic

Looks like Liberty v1 and v2 are not requesting an IP address from the local DHCP server but are instead using an IP address that appears to be statically set, 192.168.1.137
Could someone run
Code:
ifconfig tiwlan0
and post results to confirm?
I tried killing the wireless and setting a static IP address using ifconfig but the bionic will not show in the wireless devices on my router.
I have also done a factory reset to see if that clears things up and it does not.
And help or suggestions are welcome.

From what I can gather. Mine is working correctly using v2.0...

Thanks, would you mind posting a ifconfig tiwlan0 too?

Here ya go. Hope this helps out.

Well at least that gives me some sort of idea.
Leads me to another question though.
Is there a way to do a thorough wipe? Regular just isn't cutting it.

Maybe start over again? Wipe, and restore, and redo everything and see if it may fix it? I had installed liberty3 v1.0, then installed test 5 and upgraded to v2.0. Maybe there was a fix in there somewhere? Not sure. Maybe someone else will chime in that could help more on this..

Because it may or may not be related to the ROM and could be something device specific or that I have done. Rather than posting an annoying bug report I would like to confirm.

Thanks for the clarification. Would you flash another rom (say Eclipse for instance) to check if it is rom related?

I'm working on it now actually. Went to stock debloated and dhcp seems to be working.
[EDIT] FXZ to stock then root, then back to Libert3 v1.0, appears to be working now, waiting for my lease to expire in about 20 minutes to be able to tell for sure. At least it's requesting a DHCP lease again... so that's a start.

USB tethering problem

I was able to do it once but never again after that.. I've been editing my APNs, not sure if that's the cause or not. My MMS works and my internet connection works on my phone... so..?
Please see my logcat. If someone can please help me... I'm lost.

Editing your APN does nothing with USB tethering because the APN is your list of providers your phone will connect to. What kernel ROM and kernel are you using?

I thought it would have to do with development as I was thinking it maybe a driver issue or something else. I don't think it's something very user-friendly. I think adb-ing into the system to edit and/or modify a config file, etc. would be needed and hoped someone here would recognize this.
thats why liquid roms always had tether issues ans once again this is in the wrong section!

WIFI and Mobile network not working, i started to fix wifi but i need to be doing other work so hopefully you guys can get it going but other then that everything else seems to be working as far as i know.
only way to get to recovery atm is adb
this is focused for dev's only, mobile network not working atm so don't flash unless you plan on testing/debugging/deving
Its gonna be awhile though my upload is terrible..

why? on zte blade the mobile network issue has been solved with the replace of the apn config file
its not as easy as that because network files are lay'd out differently, also a lot of sprint propitiatory stuff it seems don't have any time atm to play around with it because got some more impotent things to do but thought i might as well let everyone else play with it.

Any objection with me making a video tutorial following all these steps?

You shouldn't reset anything before you begin. This method will create a backup of your stock system using SafeStrap. You can always return to your original setup using SafeStrap. Just reverse the toggle setting for Safe system (step 21). The wipe in step 22 is all you'll need.
I'd recommend reading a little about how SafeStrap works if you're feeling uncertain. There's a link to the Safestrap website in the "Credits" section of the OP.

I'm using [H]on3yScr3am: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/10340-tpax-hon3yscr3am/ (Props to MasturMynd).
I'm not sure its technically built for 901, but its working fine for me and looks awesome. Basic steps to installing are 1)Download .zip to SD-card 2)Backup (step 20 in OP) 3)Install .zip in Safestrap (steps 23 and 24 in OP). Wipe shouldn't be necessary for this theme, it is built into the script.
Always backup before you do anything.
Other themes ("Tpax") for Kin3tix are here: http://rootzwiki.com/forum/264-th3oryrom/
When I get some time I'll break this down further and add to OP.
K cool. Not to sound like complete dumbfounded noob but does it matter which we backup to? Meaning the internal sd and external sd?

Nope. I use the external sd cuz I have more room there. Just keep it organized.
When it comes to the .901 file, the file reads Blur_Verzion.5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip
The file name makes it look like the one pre .901. Can you confirm the file is correct and just named wrong? With MegaUpload gone, I'm not sure the MediaFire link is correct. I'm looking for another source for .901, but in case I don't find it....

Motorola names their updates based on the filesystem they are REPLACING. So yes, this is correct. I did my homework before I wrote this up, promise
Thank you. I appreciate that. Seemed odd, but was thinking that exact thing. Running a backup with Bootstrap first, then will install this and move on to test out some ROM's.
Has anyone made progress with unlocking the bootloader? I just got the Bionic a few weeks ago. Sure isn't like the Xoom when it comes to customization.
I just wanted to thank you for the excellent guide. I'm now running the ROM w/ the HON3YSCR3AM mod. It's really cool. Apparently there's been some issues between the dev's who made some of this though.
I really hate that there is so little out there for the Bionic. Hoping the bootloader can be unlocked so we can see some real developments come about. I like Moto phone's, but will avoid anything with a locked bootloader in the future.
I followed the steps verbatim. I could have sworn that last night I was on 901 and now it shows me on. 893. Should I run the update again or what should I do? Eclipse is running.
I also am getting the default tether or mobile hotspot notification when I run wifi tether... Is there a fix for this?
I also usually run the application Klink by faveset and since the root it will not recognize my phone when I hook up the usb.
Any ideas.

Just explained in the several post above you but since you missed it. You are on 901 but for some reason when you flash a 901 compatible rom it'll say 893 in phone info. But if you had just did the update and boot up your phone before flashing a rom it would've verified you are actually on 901. Weird I know. I did this this morning cause I was worried too that I wasn't on 901.
Perfect thanks!

I saw it, was confused at the part where it said went back to original, did tjey mean they are using this new v3 or ate theyt reffering to something they did to fix the ROM. I can downgrade but I would love to stay on v3. Ive removed every account from the sync section and the problem persists, should I remove the HTC weather app?

You probably need to address that question to @blafree64 or follow-up in the original thread to get the full scope on that, although I think v2 with his GPS fix did not suffer the problem.
Personally, I like the AOSP look & function (or as near as possible) so have stayed away from Sense, other than to load it just to feel the experience of it.

I can't post in the original thread until I get 10 posts which is why I'm in this silly section when I should be in the main thread I agree. So the current ROM people are using is v2 due to the sync issues? Then after installing v2 I flash the GPS Fix in recovery to make v2 more usable until an update for v3 comes out?
Just making sure I'm clear on everything, also if anyone knows when an update might come about that would be awesome news too
Thanks,

That sounds right, based on what I read, but again I don't use it. I had no issues with my v2 test flash, but never tried GPS.
You could drop a PM to JMZ. I've only done that dealing with the Hotspot issue, but he seems to be nice & exceptionally knowledgeable with many platforms.

CyanogenMod Mobile Connection

So I am pretty new to CyanogenMod and haven't flashed or rooted a phone since the EVO 3D. So I flashed the latest nightly version and everything went fine besides not being able to get a mobile connection on my phone. I can make calls and send text but any app that needs 3g to refresh doesn't work unless I am on wi-fi. I was wondering if someone could direct me to the latest version that still has 3g connectivity im getting really frustrated. BTW I am on Sprint. Appreciate all your help.
Thanks for your time,
Tim
Try 2/28 or older to be safe. There was a major ril change in the past few days that has caused some issues such as no data. That all should be sorted out soon if it's not already but 2/28 was before it so it should be fine. I don't have Sprint to verify but I think this will help.

Flashed it and still no mobile connections. not even calls or anything anymore. I tried to install Viper earlier to see if that fixed it and I think it messed it up even more. I used GURU reset method " http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/ " and touch didnt work but I could still see there was no mobile connection. Am I missing something?? Idc what I have to do I just need my phone to work again for calls and text at this point. Thanks for your help and advice
