Tv-Out Option ?? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bought an MHL cable today .. but cant find out where the TV OUT settings are ..
is that because its disabled in Stock ?
the cable i have has no option for external power source .. i tried it on my tv and pc monitor bot fail to show anything on screen..
perhaps i need the correct cable that need power source also ? is there an option on the phone that i cant see to enable tv out that isnt visable in stock ?
HELP
Thanks

Normally the note wont need any extra settings to connect via MHL (i´m not completely sure because i am using the sheep rom).
BUT in my opinion its not possible to use a mhl adapter without a power hub, are you sure that theres no slot for the normal charging cable. I dont want to criticize you, it just took me while to find it

Ohh Jesus ... Thanks your right ... i feel SO DUMB .. i found the power input on the side !
i think i was so excited to play mario kart on the big screen i missed it
Thanks !!

thanks
can u please put some photo if its work
& from where u bought it?
thanks again

I bought one from Monoprice.com. It was $15. Works fine. I find it awkward how the dongle hangs when I am using the phone. I am going to look for a microusb extender if there is such a thing.

[Q] HDMI Cable any good? Is this plug and play?

Good day,
Just bought this HDMI cable for my phone is it suitable?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/6FT-Micro-H...ltDomain_0&hash=item336b725922#ht_3308wt_1037
Last Q, when you connect these cables must you turn off your phone or are they "plug and play"
Thanx!
Looks like it will do the job, you just plug it in and the picture appears on the screen.
Plug and play.
Its a bit of a wank really, show off pretty games to friends.. no real use i can think of.
Unless you wana watch a movie on a tv that has hdmi but no USB.

Would have been better if when you plug the phone into the telly, the screen on the phone then becomes a touchpad that you control a cursor on the screen with.
Would have made for pretty good Angry Birds etc. experiences.
Thanx guys, great for showing off yeah
didn't u got the cable with phone???
HDMI cable was included in box when i bought it.and it works great even can play games without lagging ,full hd support..but ya videos little bit lags...
In Vodafone Romania box HDMI cable wansn't included.

Those thieves!!!, even in Mexico (Telcel as carrier) included the HDMI cable, the main reason I brought this phone! (went from Iconia A500 to this... to watch anime without a PC, I have been without a laptop 3 years straight, I found myself not using it, now with tegra 2 and LG more reason not to).

Yeah they robbed you blind bro.. Cause I have the Canadian (Fido) Version and I got the works.. HDMI, headphones.. usb and Ac adapter.
Mine doesn't have the HDMI cable included as well...
Is it really useful? I don't see I'm gonna need this, but heck I might be wrong...
Hello!
In Germany there isn't a HDMI-cable included either...
I use this adapter and a cable I have always installed in case I want to connect my laptop to the TV.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cablesson®-...HVPM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324144699&sr=8-1
I use it for slideshows, video playback and online radio playback.
...works fine.
And on the phone side it is plug and play, but you TV might need to be changed to the right source channel (i.e. HDMI 3 in my case) – but some TV sets might do this automatically if there isn't connected any other video source.
Heh just remembered, my HDMI cable is hanging out the back of my telly... shame the phone is gone
HDMI is not that useful imho. Some games are great to play on big screen but there is problem with short cable, you need to be very close to TV.
I also tried GTA 3 on big screen (plasma hd ready). Very poor graphic, i would rather install this game on my PC again.

HDMI can be extended http://www.dealextreme.com/p/gold-plated-hdmi-female-to-female-adapter-converter-29363 so you can get at least 3-4m from TV.
Bought it along with micro HDMI and a normal HDMI cable, works just fine. But, it's not so useful, really. Photos are not in high res, movies are sometimes ok but some don't work at all (mkv 4.1 profile and up, there are multiple threads about that). So... maybe it's better to use DLNA and ordinary PC, PS3, real media players.
I never got an HDMI cable in my UK box either.

May be your device is not supporting the cable..

Loool "not support the cable" if you don't know, micro-usb is universal. but it still might be cables fault... it might be broken inside or something, giving a short circuit... if not, connect storage via cwm

voltage which is being supplied to phone through laptop is much more than the normal voltage and that's why you phone is acting weird try connecting it to different laptop and see if problem exists
many of you may also have seen laptop's mouse not working properly when a unbranded and incompatible charger is connect to the laptop

[Solved]HDMI Output

Hi all,

I have just purchased this but cannot get the output to goto my tv.
On my old neo i just attached the cable and whatever was ont he display of my phone was shown on my TV. But this is not happening for my T.
I am on my ROM, siyah Kernel. Have I deleted a stock app that is needed? Is there a setting I need to change? (I did go through settings but the only thing I could find involved wifi or bluetooth connections not mhl cables)
Thanks for any help guys
Greg
Humm. I read about this kinda MHL cable. Wehh for sure you ahve to have libhdmi.so and SemcTVlaunher in phone.
Try with stock kernel. If then cabel or phone jack is broken. And check my question

Re: HDMI Output
Do you know if your mhl is a 5 or 7 pin connector? Ours uses 5 pin. If you hook the phones stock charger and hdmi cable into the mhl adapter, does your TV recognize the signal? My TV shows grey for inputs without a signal.
If thats ok, then plug your adapter into the phone. If nothing happens, check your connection app. The app that controls what to do when you plug anything in or get close to a nfc tag. I'm on XperimenT rom, so I think the stock
app was replaced with smart connect.
By default, my wifi turns off and my TV Launcher starts when I hook the mhl in. Managed by smart connect. So maybe your missing the profile for hdmi, or you don't have the connect app or TV launcher app installed.
By the way, this is the one I purchased.

I dont really want to admit to my noobiness about this, but all I needed to do was attach the phone charger to the adapter in the cable and it worked...
I think I will go away and facepalm myself.
Thanks for the help anyway.
So I bought a cable from fleebay which arrived in record time for a HK/China delivery.
Did you need to install anything or copy any apks?
From what I read before I bought the cable, the reason you need the power is due to the MHL spec. It is nothing to do with Sony, it is the way power needs to be provided.
I will try my cable tonight.

I didnt need to add any apk's. I was just being a clown and not adding the power to the adapter.
If you look at the pic of the item i bought, there is a micro usb male socket to plug into the phone and a hdmi male socket to plug into the TV. Also, coming out of the back of the HDMI socket is a female micro usb socket for the male end of the charger to go in.
As soon as I added the power i got the screen to mirror over to the TV
I did not click the link, but from what you describe, it looks like the one I bought, in which case, even if you did not know how it works, have a "free" end should have told you something!

Lol Greg. I thought that might have been your problem, thats why I was giving you steps that included the power. Atleast you got it going tho!

yeah, at least he did, all I've done so far is plug the hdmi end in and realised that the cable length to the power socket is too far away, so will reroute power...
~ just typing "re-routing power" made me feel suck a sci-fi geek...
I'm lucky my sharp tv has a USB input as well so I didn't have to look for another power socket when I setup my tv for mirroring.

Tab 8.0 Working MHL/USB OTG adapter

Just a quick post to let people know that the following adapter works with the 8" Galaxy Tab 3. As it's only about £10 I thoroughly recommend it.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00E60A0XC/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Tab 3 I used for testing purposes is a Christmas present for my girlfriend so I only had a brief play with it to make sure that both Tab and adapter were working properly before hiding the former away back in its box As a result I won't be able to test the adapter again until after the 25th! Please note that the Tab is completely stock...
Anyway, here's what works.
MHL to TV using the HDMI output on the adapter:
This works very well. The screen of the tablet remains on so you can manipulate content directly on the tablet's screen while mirroring it to the TV.
MHL to TV with simultaneous USB OTG:
This is very cool and in effect turns the tablet into a mini PC. In this configuration I plugged a mains powered USB hub into the USB port of the adapter, then I plugged an 80GB bus powered hard drive and a dongle for a wireless keyboard/mouse combo into the USB hub. When I plugged the dongle for the wireless keyboard/mouse into the hub, the screen on the tablet turned off. This is actually a great feature and I wish my Note 2 did the same thing to help keep it cool. The Tab automatically senses the keyboard and mouse as well as the hard drive. Attaching the hard drive triggers the file manager to open so you can browse its contents. I tested a couple of SD movies and they played smoothly with no slow down. The keyboard worked almost as expected, the exception being that the 'Home' key on the keyboard didn't work at all for me (it does on my Note 2) which was problematic until I realised that the 'Internet' shortcut key on the keyboard acted as a home key. The other Media shortcut keys worked for me. For those who haven't used a full sized keyboard with their device before, the 'Right Click' button to the right of the space bar acts as the Menu key (essential) and if you hover the mouse over a scrollable list, you can then use the mouse wheel to, um, scroll.
For those who haven't used MHL before, bear in mind that a device has to work harder to mirror the display to the TV. As a result things can get a bit jerky. To this end I quickly ran Epic Citadel benchmark to see what impact this had on the Tab. In the higher quality setting mode the Tab scored 54 fps on its own, and 45 fps when connected to a TV. This is much higher than expected. Web browsing remained fairly fluid when connected to the TV too which is good.
As a final Note, the TV I tested the adapter with only has a 720p panel and not full HD, so your mileage may vary from a performance point of view. If you find the edges of the Tab's screen a cut off on the TV, go into TV's settings and select 'scan only' for the picture format.
Hope this helps.

Good grief, it's huge! (that's what she said )
I'd be worried about damaging the connector on the tablet with all that mass hanging off it, even worse with cables.

LOL
I think the picture shows it with an S4 from memory. It's just under 3 inches long and half an inch thick (!). It is a bit awkward with cables attached to it, but when i use it with my Note 2 it's just awesome.
Does this enable charging the Tab while everything is plugged in?
I have T310 model. See many compatible adapters on ebay, sellers confirm compatibility. Just came across this site meetmhl.com. Clicked on "do i have mhl" bottom of page. My devices were recognized. Says "sorry your galaxy tab 3 8.0 does not currently have MHL technology". WTF???!!!
I've ordered a generic or samsung? tab compatible. When connected with the oem charger cable my tab gets power but not charging. "HDMI connected" pops up for a second but no signal to tv. HDMI input is recognized as active and selected in tv.
Confirmed the adapter in the opening topic works as advertised

Video out and OTG cannot be used at the same time because they are on the same connector , they are mutually exclusive. Why would you want to use USB for a bluetooth mouse when you can just use Bluetooth?
i emailed the company and they said me that it is possible!! !i am rooted and i lost ez mirror option, so i was looking to that option because ONLY bluetooth keyboard and mouse are very expensive!! !!!

Want to use phone remotely from pc as security cam. What gadgets do I need?

I just upgraded to an Lg G5 and would like to make use of my M8 instead of sell it.
So I've got one those Y OTG cables but apparently the charging female port is for charging other devices rather than the phone itself. So I'm guessing I need something like this cable but that actually charges the phone too. Any recommendations otherwise, and in addition, can anyone recommend a solar charger that could keep this bad boy powered whilst video recording with motion detection? Otherwise I need that cable if it exists.
And what is the process to connect to a pc and have your phone display pop up on the pc screen? Is "plug-n-play" or more involved? Just need a little direction.
Thanks!
