2 weeks ago I connected my GNote to mycomputer, Kies Started and notify me by a new firmware update is available , Then I select yes.
Don't upgrade to 2.3.6, since I get this update I feel my GNote become slow, even slower than Galaxy S II.
I want to remove it, and downgrade it But I don't know how? GNote performance on 2.3.5 was better and faster
Regards;;

My Gnote is by far faster and snappier with 2.3.6 (KKA) compared to 2.3.5.
Everything is faster and smoother and less lag.
And now im running a tweaked 2.3.6 thats even better.

Hey, my samsung Note feels very sluggish in home screen and screen transitions and animations even though I've turned off them all and using launcher pro. When I make the exact same settings on hte Galaxy S2 and having them side by side the note is more sluggish when moving widgets, browsing through apps and through pictures. Im running 2.3.5 on the GS2 and 2.3.6 on the Note. I have like 5 apps installed since I've just started using the Note.
Any tips why the Note is more sluggish then the GS2?

[Q] What's up with the performance of froyo on Galaxy S?

Hi Ppl,
I got the official froyo release for Galaxy S India yesterday. Good Good... But wait, is it worth it? I don't know..
Before I upgraded to froyo I had applied the lag fix on 2.1 and the quadrant score showed somewhere at 1700-1800 which is good. Quadrant score on stock showed around 800-900.
Quadrant score on 2.2 stock now shows 925-950. This really pissed me off. I ran another test which is linpack and I got 13 Mflops. I do not understand what's wrong with the froyo update. I read somewhere that 2.2 is not compatible with humming bird processor. Per my understanding 2.2 upgrade should boost the CPU to the next level and the performance should be really good than 2.1.
I was comparing dell streak with galaxy s. I know if I should or not but I just wanted to look at the scores on both. Dell says Streak has a 1 GHz processor and so do Galaxy S. But the linpack score on streak showed 30 Mflops which is way better than Galaxy S which is at 13 Mflops. I really do not understand what the problem here is.
Is there no difference b/w 2.1 and 2.2 on Galaxy S? If yes, 2.2 is a joke I would say.
I am concerned because I still found issues with the froyo update. Its still laggy. I didnt notice much difference b/w 2.1 and 2.2 really
Can anyone help me out with this please?
Thanks,
Ravi
I wouldn't worry too much about quadrant scores, but if your phone is lagging then you probably need to reapply a lag fix. Did you update via Kies? I updated mine a while ago using odin (never had much joy with Kies) and my phone seemed pretty good without a lag fix, I did do a factory reset though before installing. Mines now running spikey's oc rom and oclf and is scoring around 2300 on quadrant, but more importantly the phone is ultra responsive with zero lag
Do a factory reset and reapply a lagfix, you'll get 1600ish quadrant scores again.

Thanks for the reply, guys. I had read somewhere that the score would be 1600-1800 on stock froyo? Is that not right? Do I still need to apply a lag fix?
And yes. I updated using Kies. I did a factory reset of the phone before and after I update froyo.
Which lag fix do u suggest? Voodoo or OCLF? I guess OCLF uses EXT2 and Voodoo uses EXT4 which is a bit faster than the former right?
who cares about the score, it is all BS
what matter most, is how smooth it runs for you, and when you switch from app to app, and have stuff multitasking in the background

That FACT should be sticky on this forum.
ok.. I am facing a new problem now. I do not know if this is the right thread or not.
After the froyo official update I noticed I could download apps from the market except for the installation process. Some apps get stuck after a complete download and never gets installed
IS there a fix for this?

[Q] Lagging experiences

Hello everyone
I'm a Captivate (Galaxy S) user and I'm planning to get a Note
One of the reasons is the lagging problem.
When the iPhone 4 still has a fluid experience, my Captivate lags so much that I hate using it !!
So, does the note has such problems at all. I mean in all aspects. The OS itself, the apps, running or switching them .
I own a Galaxy S, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note and a Galaxy Tab 10.1. You don't experience lags on the S2 nor the Note. Only S and Tab lags.
You can get the Note without any worries.

Never had any Lag on the Note, neither on 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 KKA. Best device I every spent my hard earned money. Enjoying it a little bit more each day.
Touchwiz is kinda laggy to be honest, but I'm using rocketrom v8 at 1.2ghz and it's great
To be honest the stock rom with Touchwiz is laggy to me, but more because it contains so much bloat also. I use one of the lite rom with third party launcher and it feels very fast.
Thanks everybody for sharing.
It really upset me to see superior devices with such issues!
How about installing too many apps? Would it slow the Note
I'm really worry about spending ~$700 and get a non-fluid experience.

[Q] GN very laggy compared to S2??

Hi,
I just bought a Note to replace my S2.
Before shelling out the money and signing a 2 year contract I read tons of reviews and opinions here on xda.
The general consensus was that the Note is as snappy as the S2.
My personal experiences sadly cannot confirm this...
My Note is VERY laggy .. it behaves worse than my ancient Galaxy S1 ...
I am on 2.3.6 KKA stock.
Has someone any idea what to do?
Is there any decent custom rom out there which can bring back the snappy experience of the S2?
P.S.
On s2 I used to use the MIUI ROM
P.P.S.
Custom launchers are working terribly on the Note. Tried ADW and Launcher Pro. Had to give up because it were unusable.
Its not Note issue but Samsung's filmwares.Im sure the next updates will blow up our monster.
Try latest filmware XXKL3 and you will notice improvment on your Note.
Plus with KL3 the third part launchers not lug at all (not perfect but closed.Im using zeam laucher which is perfect not lugs)
So dont worry my friend...Be patient...
Devs working hard but its very early for good custom rom like sgii...
Very strange, I had a Galaxy S2 prior to my Note.
The Note is just as smooth as the S2.
I also had a Galaxy S 4G T959 "S1" prior , and of course the S2 and Note blows it away in term of smoothness. Might be some kind of software or hardware related issues with yours?
I don't know what to tell ya...
I have a rooted Note running the stock ROM (KJ4), and it's just fine!
No slowdowns here.
I wouldn't say that Note is laggy. It's fast but the user interface experience is choppy. It's the sheer number of pixels to push + not hardware-accelerated UI (and Android-specific UI problems). I would expect it to get better, especially with ICS. For now - a little OC + KL3 soft + stay away from 3D effects in launchers.
Laggy keyboard?
The Samsung keyboard seems to cache a lot of data, Try going into app manager and clearing Samsung keyboard cache. Worked for me. Then I also just switched to another keyboard - Swiftkey X because I wasn't using the handwriting too much in S keyboard mode. And I didn't like the AI predictions too much.
I still use S memo and S Planner and Kies Air and they all work great.
Currently no lag for me.
I came from a LG G2X running CM7 nightly #201, which was awesome by the way, and the GNote is comparable.
Current Devices:
Galaxy Note, LG G2X CM7 (Nightly #201 + GPS mod), HTC My touch 3G slide CM7 (back-up, back-up phone)
Past Devices. Most recent first:
HTC Touch Pro (great phone), HTC Apache, Audiovox Thera (lovable weirdness), HTC XV6600 (what a phone!), Kyocera 6035 (those were the days)
i was about to buy it too .. but i didn't cuz of these comments saying it's slower than the S2
any one have both devices can tell us the truth ?
A totally stock Samsung Galaxy S2 is always smooth, fluid and responsive, however the Note in stock form, which is supposed to be faster, has a clear but ever so slight input lag. On the Note I think Samsung's touchwiz UI performs better than any other third party launcher. However with the latest KL3 ROM overall performance is much improved regardless of launcher. So i swapped from touchwiz to adw soon after reflashing because I cant stand touchwiz.
It helps to reduce the cache and memory usage settings on any custom launchers that should help a bit. I'm sure its just a firmware issue and once they mature a bit this phone will be even more awesome than it is now. I honestly don't have any regrets and for anyone who is still on the fence, go for it. You will love it after a few simple customizations.
Stock Note is a bit slow for me, I use Romow Lite rom which is very fast. Even Market works (have issues with some other roms), and cifs and tun modules for OpenVPN. Only issue with the rom is AccountsandSync settings isn't install and failed to install (the feature works, you can log in, but there isn't a GUI to turn it off). So I use QuickSettings which can turn off syncing. I'm using Launcher Pro with it and its very smooth.
Thanks folks,
Should try some custom ROMS.... I wanted to wait a week or two to be sure that there are no hardware issues (it is troublesome to send it back on warranty with custom fw) and after that to root it.
Which custom rom do you prefer? I like miui very much but there isn't any port to Note till now ...
I also think the Galaxy Note is quite laggy. I tried the GS2 in the store and it is definitely smoother than the Note. And I can also confirm that the 3rd party launchers are surprisingly choppy on the Note. I ran some of those same launchers on my Android HD2 and got very, very good performance. Especially LauncherPro. It's perfectly smooth on the the old HD2 Android. I would probably have stuck with GoLauncher on the Note but it is terribly and perfectly choppy. My version is KKA.
My Note runs fine so far. I found it quite fast and snappy. Have not downloaded many applications as of yet but will add more soon. The ones I do have downloaded work ok so far.
One thing that is obvious is how much faster applications work on the iPhone compared to Android. As an example try downloading the Bloomberg applications and compare section and stories downloads time. The iPhone is about 3-4 times faster than the average Android device out including my new Samsung Note.
Just wanted to say that while Cassies KL3 mod is a good improvement, it's much better paired up with AbyssNote 2.3 kernel and the CPU clocked to 1.6Ghz. Now it really flies. Battery life also seems improved with this kernel but its still early days.
For those who think third party launcher is laggy, try Spare Parts +. Turn the animations to fast.

[Q] is anyone experiencing flash lagging on the note after official ics upgrade

Hi all
I upgraded my german galaxy note to ics 4.0.3 using kies (pc version) I am noticing a serious lag in flash when viewing videos using the browser, this is using the latest flash plugin, my partner uses the galaxy nexus and flash videos work fine usng the same flash plugin. On the play store , I noticed a lot of people complaining about my experience using galaxy s2 after their ics upgrade.
I would like to know if anyone else is experience the same flash video lag
Regards
Francis
I have had issues as you describe, but they're not consistent, some videos play fine and others buffer frequently. This was never the case under GB. I've seen a couple of other threads on the same issue.

+1
My Note lagged so much I decided to go back to GB. A lot of apps needed an extra second to start up. Videos were buffering a lot where the exact same videos on GB didn't need that much buffering. Graphical performance was rather poor. My favorite launcher lagged a lot (not on GB)
official ics for note lag
I experiences the same issue. just upgraded the official ics yesterday. i found out that the home is lagging while scrolling to next page. my installed large-size games (fifa2012, shadowgun, etc) lags too.
I agree - the UI seems buggy and slow. I want to be more excited but can't be... not only is it the lag.. but also the battery drain thats pissing me off !
Guys...i was facing lag and bugginess... Factory resetting did the trick.. Works like a dream.. The battery life has doubled..

Which Version of ICS did you install ??
there may be slight differences between versions
I tried the German rom and it was horrible and wouldnt play anything video wise...
So I too went back to Gingerbread and everything is back to normal.
I also take it you don't have the Deep Sleep issue with your ROM either.

ever since ICS, battery has been shorten to almost 1/3, camera hangs frequently, apps tend to hand, web browsing is shaky, when streaming video zoom un zoom does not work, a whole load of issues. thought i would be happy after getting notifications that a new update was released yesterday to SEA region, download via OTP, installed, man was it disappointing. Slightly smoother, but still lags occasionally. battery is worst! cant wait for jelly bean. My friend has it on Nexus and its fast and smooth.

Well when i compare side by side to gingerbread, it is actually slower by a little but it seems to be faster when you are not comparing.
