Has anyone ever succesfully used the update feature?

Hello all.
I have a brief question. Under the settings menu in our sgs, there is an option to update etc. Has it ever worked with any update? For example, when the next update is available is it worth bothering to check through that instead of kies, or does it not work?
Thanks

Always no update available

No. It's just there for decorative purpose. Seriously.
Has it been included on any stable firmwares yet though?
I have used it twice on my nexus one and updated. Has never done anything on galaxy s. I think it may be a Google phone feature. Eg nexus one, nexus s.

Free 50GB cloud storage at Box.com for LG (and Xperia) users!

I've had a Box account for 1 month now. And their free box is 5GB. From Nov 30, 2010 to December 31, 2012 though, a deal between LG and Box will upgrade your storage to 50GB for free!
I already tried it. (I faked my SIM as T-mobile just to be sure though, as the promo did say that it's supposed to be for US folks only. )
Have fun boys and girls!

US only it seems.
Thanks for this hint.
I've created my account a few minutes ago directly from the app and now have lots of free space .
Therefore it definitely works outside the US... I'm from germany.

Works here in Maldives. I got free 50gb. Thanks

Yes, works good, you can create your account on a computer and the 50GB upgrade will be automatic at first connection from the phone app.
I am from spain and tambien works here. Thanks mate.
From Singapore. 50gb works here.
Set it up last night, is fine in the UK.
It works fine in Germany.
Sweet. So me faking a sim was just me being paranoid then.
Glad to see reports that its working all over the world. Thanks guys.

too bad the windows application requires the business upgrade
Could you please clarify, does it work with 50gb till the end of March and then drop to standard capacity, or is it permanent and you just have to create the account till March?
[EDIT] Nvm, found the answer - it's for life if anyone else wondered : )
Yep , for life.
As for folder sync, people recommend using webdav. Ill try it this weekend.

Unlock help!

So I got an Atrix HD from at&t and unlocked it non problem through a paid service. I gave it to my brother and got another one for myself. However after repeated services and inquiries this one always comes back as not found. Any ideas or help is much appreciated!

Google music

Hi , I was messing about with the Google music app tonight and it seems to be letting me upload music and listen to it on my nexus 7.
I stay in the UK and I know it was meant to released soon but thought I would let you guys know it seems available now.
Apologies if this is old news.

What about the music recognition? Does it upload the songs or does it recognize them?

Where did you download the app from, the play store? I am using it with an account set up via a proxy. Wondering if I'll have to do anything once its official in the UK.

Cool thanks, very interesting, can't wait for mine to arrive.
It was on mine out of the box. 16gb from Carphone Warehouse back in September.
I use it through a proxy.

I think you only need the proxy to sign up - that's what I did.
Once you have done that you can login and upload and download from any IP.
Thanks,

Ah yes, thats what I did also and use it on my phone without any problem, works really well and looking forward to having it on the Nexus also.
So the setup still needs to be done via VPN?
But then you can use it as and when you please?
PS - If I signup, can I download Google Music onto another device (HOX) and link both devices? To share music etc
Thanks for info !

Of course you can, I've been using Google Music on both my N7 and phone, but I'm curious how we can transfer our musics and account to UK's server when its opened?

@Savalangh - wondering exactly the same thing, dont think I've even uploaded a 1000 songs yet, but would be a major pain having to sit and re-upload from scratch if we had to. Hopefully we just can continue using as is. :fingers-crossed:
I set up Google Music using a Proxy and have been using it for months.
It recently got released OFFICIALLY in the UK and haven't had any problems i.e. I haven't had to re-upload my music or anything else. I believe it's tied to your google account so regardless of where you're using it, it shouldn't make a difference once you're signed up!

We're sorry. The Google Play music player is currently only available in the United States.
Sorry for it not being more helpful, I went on play.Google.com , logged in on my laptop , went to /music and downloaded music manager , then it allowed me to start uploading my music which then appeared on my nexus 7 and allowed me no stream it. No proxy or vpn.

Looks like the Scam is bigger and not limited to Airtel but presently limited to India.....
if it is true,,,,,the update is online...isnt it?
we can check it through the LG software with the stock ROM.....why dont one of you check.....?or with the IMEI link from LG
Anurag bhai,
not in India now....else could have checked.
but following this thread closely....lol
Guys, come on.... Just take another look at the subject of this thread.
Do you really think any company at all would release a 4.2.2 update to a phone that hasn't even received a 4.1 firmware? Straight from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2 - And from LG? Hah.
