[Q] Screen - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a question, is there a way to remove the scratches from x8 screen?
My screen really looks bad and the worst part and that makes me trully sick is that it wasn't even my fault! You know when friends ask you to see your cell and send it straight to the floor? That's it.
Would it help if I used screen protectors now? I heard it disguises it.
Thanks in advance!
(Sorry about the english I'm stil learning )

I don't think it has a screen protector, if it does it isn't noticeable. I remember it came with one but I took that out many months ago.
Thanks anyway

I have screen protector from ebay or dealextreme (not sure any more) and it's almost unnoticeable visualy and touchscreen works with no difference.
If phone came with one already on, I have 2 now and have no problem with that
If you want to change it you only need to change digitizer. It's not too expensive. You can put cypres one for real dual touch if you don't have one now.

Thanks! I'll check fo prices of the digitizer. Mine is synaptics (I think it's called that), do you think cypress is better? I know it has errors with some roms/kernels.

Bro,you will have real dual-touch with cypress:>.

[BIG PROBLEM , SCREWED?]Screen Defect

Hello,
Well , I have a big problem with my SGS at the moment , the problem is that my screen is defect. Well , the screen still works as it should(touch , thank god) but I has alot of big scratches.
Believe it or not , but I dropped my sgs like 3 times before on 1 meter height on hard underground , It survived without scratches , btw I dont know if it did land on the screen so maybe thats the reason why my screen survived before. But today i was sitting and I had the phone in my pocket and when I wanted to stand up it dropped out of my pocket on the ground , from 0,5 meters height on a soft floor(carpet) but I discovered those big scratches and I was shocked
/Now the important part , is there any way to repair this???
By putting new glass on the screen or something? Maybe there is someone who experienced the same and knows how and where it got repaired?
Thanks in advance,
Picture of the state of my screen in attachments , sorry for the vga webcam quality.
Looks like the glass got shattered.
There would be no way to fix a Crack or a Scratch. You will have to replace the Digitizer and Display.
Dude, that's why you should use screen protector on it.

Thanks for your help.
Sorry man. Some people just wouldn't use screen protector, but 1-5€ could have saved you from this.

'Defect' LOL. My car was 'defective' after I wrapped it around a telephone pole.
Would a screen protector prevent a shatter like that? Perhaps to a limited extent but I though they were mainly for scratches.
I do my SGS bareback. No significant scratches yet, I think last time I cleaned the screen up and looked really close I could see one tiny line.
I've dropped once onto pavement (dented the bezel) and once on a wood floor (flew out of my hand as I whipped it out and bounced across the room lol).

Sorry sir , if your screen(or glass whatever)is shattered. In fact , its also defect. 1. a lack of something necessary for completeness or perfection; shortcoming; deficiency
But who cares?
Looks like these general subboard is full of trolls , I'm asking for advice where and how to repair your screen when its in a state like this? All I get is people who try to act smart or whatever you wanna call it.
Just dont post if you cant make sense

Thanks , never thought of looking @ assecories bord xD
You could try and replace it yourself which is probably cheaper or you can ring samsung and tell them what happened and have them replace it/send a new phone for you. Obviously it would cost you.
@dehem333
Very sad to hear that loss...
I have no idea how to fix it. But I pray that it gets fixed someway.
Wish u best of luck!

Well just replacing the glass is not gonna work because the touch digitizer and the glass are like one. So you,ll have to buy it completely new. Also its not easy to replace it. Its glued together. Youll need to be handy.
If your buying off ebay make sure its an amoled screen. Alot of lcds on ebay.

They sell the digitizer (which is what you scratched) on EBay. It will require you to take your phone apart. You could check with HTC to see if they would let you do a warranty exchange.

Well, depends how badly do you scratch your screen. I'm just curious, what thing do you use to scratch the screen? AFAIK sands will easily scratch the screen.
To fix light scratch, you can use some polishing compound used in car and polish it.

[Q] Help!!! cracked my screen

Help needed!! I just cracked my IS screen and now i can't see anything on it, i need somehow to view my phone screen using pc.
my phone is fully stock and i dont have root.
sorry for my bad english
what....???how,...??DUDE that's Gorilla Glass....anyways i don't think it would be covered in warranty though as it is a physical Damage..see if u have any hTC service centers near by and they repair it for u ..u might need to pay
If you have USB debugging enabled you can view your screen using the android sdk. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1496213
Otherwise I think you're out of luck. There's a couple of threads about replacing the screen in the forum though.

You know what even a friend of mine got a noticeable scratch on the 'gorilla' the day he bought the phone.
Just by sliding it into his pocket!
me, have no screen guard & not a scratch yet in over a year

Xperia T - Out of stock

To the proud owners of Xperia T, does the phone come with a factory installed screen protector...
Your reply will help me to save the cost of ordering an additional screen protector...
yes it does
Yes, and the first thing I do is rip it off and don't bother with any, I find screen protectors attract dust and get to easily scratched whilst the main screen is very robust and doesn't get scratched at all....I have done this with all my xperia devices.

LOL...i do exactly the opposite....I use a screen protector but I dont like to put any case on it, as it spoils the aethetics. And to why I use screen protector is, because a scratch on the screen will keep bothering me, even though it wouldnt affect the usage...
BTW, factory installed screen protector from sony are quite good imo.
Thanks Greg and Asterix...

No, just get your fingernail under it near the top centre and pull it off, its a bit more sticky than non-factory fitted screen proteceters, but it does just pull off
Have just ordered mine, and it was the last piece in stock at Clove Technologies....
Should be recieving tmrw in Singapore...
Does anybody have some opinion on the camera app and picture quality difference between Stock and AOSP camera apps...

[Q]can i really use X8 without screen protector?

i am never touched the original layer of the screen or digitizer since i bought X8, because i am using my
X8 with Screen protector from the first day i bought it,and as the Screen protector is bit cheap(hard to get H-quality)
and feels sometime harder to touch and move my finger across the screen because of the
plastic screen protector that stops my finger from moving when put force little bit.(really annoying and cancel my great mood sometimes)
i wondering that why our X8 screen is not scratch resistant and surprised when i
checked phone sites like GSMarena and when seeing our X8 specs
it says that our X8 has Scratch-resistant glass. but i afraid that i accidentally could scratch
my X8's screen without using S-Ps.
SINGLE SCRATCH COULD SPOILS OUR ENTIRE USING EXPERIENCE OF THE X8
any suggestion and used experience could help me alot. Thanks in ADVANCE
sorry for my bad english.
I would recommend you to use a screen guard but not the original one..
Its crap..
I bet you can get a good quality screen guard at the price of about 2 USD..
And about gsmarena.
Don't trust them..
They themselves don't know what they write..

I used screen without protector for a week(for testing if its unscratchable!) , & its scratched a little .so its not like gorilla glasses.(I was really taking care of phone & it scratched by my finger & nail!!!!)
Screen quality is PERFECT without screen protector !
#now using protector which hides(or covers) the scratched surfaces so its ok now
This is JAY-Z-S
I'm currently not using any from 2 months & it's fine

ohh i see ,but most of the specification in gsmarena are true.
but i hate using a screen protector because it spoils our experience and also
even using high quality one it will affect the viewing of the display and the way we interact with it

ARMv6 and ARM6 are not the same.
By the way, I use a phone case instead of using a screen protector, and the phone has only one scratch which it got when I hadn't a phone case yet.
I never used screen protector and i never faced any problem. It is true that my phone has some minor scratches but it doesn't affect user experience in any way, you can only see them when sreen is off.
And judging from my use, x8 has Scratch-resistant glass. lol
Edit: I just remembered that once i tried to scratch it with a knife and it didn't do a thing, i'm not maniac i was just testing it, and i have to admit that i didn't pushed too much but i pushed it.

Spot on. Mine has had enough chances to get completely scratched and it hasn't, only minor scratches that aren't visible when the screen is on. Compared to my sister's LG it's very tough glass.

Possible minor scratches that don't affect user experience at all. But, if you are so obsessed about scraches why don't you just buy a new screen protector that will not affect your touching
i'm not using any screen protectors on my w8 and can't see any scratches, btw you can buy anti-fingerprint protector, it helps a litter bit but gives your screen some blur lol
