any one noticing a weird humming sound when charging ? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

just plugged phone in and theres a weird humming sound coming from it also doesnt seem to be charging it was fine before 2.3.6 update any one had any issues with the update ?

its not the phone its the charger it self.. im fed up with all these newer devices doing it, my virgin modem + note + razor chargers all hum and its really annoying

I hear a high sound from the charger but only when the phone is not connected.
CU

I found mine did the same straight out of the box so I don't use the charger, I use my N900's charger instead which doesn't make any such noise.

Noise when i talk, i handsfree and charge att the same time

Hi,,
When im driving, i have a 3 in 1 adapter so i can charge my phone and have the orginal handsfree on to. But they i talk to complain it a noice. and when i pull out the car charger the noice is gone.
other have the same problem?? is it a fix out?
THanks
I also have this problem, very anoing!
A friend has this problem with his kaiser phone when using handsfree adapter in car. It turns out it was because the usb connector was not pressed fully home into the phone. Or the phone was not fully seated in the cradle. Check this to see if it makes a difference. Partly seated gives charge but no handsfree. Fully seated gives both. Somewhere in between gives trouble.
The phone is chargeing. and the handsfree work. I dont hear the noise. but them i talking to hear it.. i tok out the charger from the sigaretplug and the noise was gone..

Noisy Mains Charger

I noticed this morning a strange hissing noise which at first I thought was coming from the phone. This was when I was using the phone whilst it was plugged into the mains charger.
I removed the cable and the noise stopped. I plugged the phone into a USB port on my PC and there was no noise this time. So I checked the mains charger that came with the phone and sure enough the noise was coming from there!
It almost sounded like there was a fan inside, a very similar noise.
Has anyone else experienced this or can you recreate this?
It also happens to my charger, you can feel comfortable there are no problems

I do not have this charger but from your description it sounds like normal switcher noise.
The charger likely uses a switcher for dc-dc conversion. When not well designed they can have an audible noise. Usually it is not a fault and no reason to worry.

Thanks for the info guys
i hoped i finally got rid of that noise with a new phone, but my note 2 charger makes noise too.
just like my LG O2X charger and Galaxy Tab 2 7" charger.
yet all my other chargers are capable of being perfectly silent.
it's loud enough to give me trouble sleeping, and i'm used to sleeping next to a noisy PC.
I don't have a Galaxy Note 2 yet, but my original Galaxy Note's charger makes noise, as well. I believe because it has a high mAH recharging, because I use as an extra charger an old blackberry charger (with a long long cable xD) with only 500 mAH recharging power doesn't make any noise. I don't know if it has anything to do with how much voltage is flying through the charger has anything to do with it, but:
*Samsung chargers make noise.
*Other chargers I have don't.
All the chargers since the SII's have emitted some noise when there is no device plugged in. I don't really mind honestly.

Using nokia phones since 2002 i have to say most of them make that sound, dont worry
I got my SGNII at the weekend, and I have a very noisy charger, to the point where, as it is close to my bed, it wakes me up when its finished charging. However its only noisy once the phone is fully charged. Unplugging the phone once charged means the noise stops, but it also means my phone has been running on battery for 6 hours before I get up.
I think I will switch to a different USB charger that doesn't sound like a mouse being tortured
No Problem
Never faced this issue ever. Maybe faulty chargers i guess

[Q] Charger makes weird buzzing sound

Hi all,
Several days ago I got a brand new LG Optimus 4x HD. Last night I plugged the phone to charge and went to sleep. This morning when I unplugged the phone, a weird buzzing sound was coming from the charger. The phone was charged 100% and seems to be fine. Since the LG charger looks a bit cheap compared to other chargers I have seen (made in china by Sunlin T_T). I have charged the phone several times by now, but noticed the sound just today, I dont know if it was there before. I decided to see if the charger from my previous phone (Xperia mini, used for over a year and still working fine) will make the same sound and it actually does! Its alot quieter and I could not hear it until I put the charger to my ear, but its there. Also with both charges the sound continues for a while after they have been unplugged from the wall socket.
Should I be worried ?Note that the warranty of my phone does NOT cover the charger itself, so I cant replace it. If needed I will change the charger with a Duracell or Energizer charger, since here its next to impossible to find separate original phone charger.

the sound is normal. it happens in almost every AC to DC step down transformers. The sound should come on a short while after you unplug the phone, and slowly go away when the charger is unplugged. It will also stop when you plug in your phone.
you can do a little experiment here. When you hears the buzzing sound, switch off the charger or unplug it. Then without any power, plug in your phone FAST. You will see your phone is getting charged for abit, then it stops together with the buzzing sound.
anyway you shouldn't leave your charger switched on when its not charging, its a waste.

Thank you for the info. Now I noticed that the charges makes buzzing sound only when the phone is 100% charged or when the phone is unplugged from the charger but the charger is still plugged to the wall socket.

[Q] Weird signal disturbance

Hi,
I noticed a weird problem in my HTC One ....While using my car charger and aux cable together, I noticed a weird signal disturbance in the speakers of the car whenever I made or answer a call(I was using the mic of the phone and the car speakers with the aux cable). The disturbance was something like the same disturbance that one gets in a landline when we keep the landline close to a mobile. When I removed the charger and used the aux cable only, the disturbance was gone so it's got definitely got to do something with the charger. Also, when talking from the mobile directly while using the charger, there is no disturbance. Is it something to do with the charger or my phone?

Its maybe noise coming from your alternator to your charger. Your car alternator is AC current converted to DC trough a rectifier circuit. Even if its converted to DC, there is always a small quantum of residual AC in your car power system. That AC noise is then routed to the phone and then your audio system producing that audible noise from your speakers . Is that noise increasing in pitch with the acceleration (rev of your engine)? if yes, the best solution for this issue is to buy a noise filter.
If this is not that kind of noise (form alternator) its simply noise coming from your phone transceiver (like a pulsating noise). In that case you will need to have a very good aux cable (shielded) and all your car audio properly grounded and shielded.

You can't expect someone to reply to your every question. Just be patient

Is your bundled earphones adapter overheating too?

Just a couple of minutes into listening through the earphones that came with the box, the connecting adapter starts to heat up like crazy.
I hope this is something that can be fixed via an update or something.
After the last update, my USB-type-c to a 3.5-mm adapter and my headphones stopped working. I'm waiting for the next update
I've had no such trouble with the included earphones.
Mine gets warm but not too bad.

Mine gets hot too. However in my case it is the cable issue. I can clearly hear noise and cracking sound when the headset is plugged in. I have to keep the cable straight to avoid overheating.
Anyone else has this issue? It is not getting hot when simply plugged in, but when I listen to a book or a song, it gets dangerously hot.
Same here, it gets hot and the cracking noises/static in the background are present too.
One weird thing : It is a Type C reversible, so if i plug one way is hard to even stay connected, but the other way it is quite acceptable.
